Hide and Seek (2019)

I would love to share with you story about one Serbian TV series. I think that it may be interesting to you.

TV series is called 'Hide and Seek' and plot of it is going on very interesting. Story is following lives of kids after the end of World War Second in unnamed place in Yugoslavia. They are talking in Serbia, and that is how we can conclude that the story is happening in Serbia.

Those kids are starting school on 9th of May in 1945. On the day when World War Second was finished. In Yugoslavia victory was not as simple, as in other countries that won in the World War Second. There were two sides in Yugoslavia. Communists, and all other people, who were not communists.

In this TV series, you will see how victors will be rewarded and how defeated will be punished.

Main character of this TV series is young communist, Srd, who now, after the war is working in OZNA (intelligence agency of Yugoslavia).

TV series is following Srd, and children, who are all innocent, and who do not understand who and what are their parents. They do not understand why they have to be punished, and why some other children are rewarded, because their parents were doing something or because their parents were not doing something.

There are 6 separated stories (one story in each episode), that is following kids, how they get in conntact with Srd, and what will happen to them thanks to Srd. It depends on what their parents were before the war.

All those children, no matter who are their parents, are playing on the main square, usually they are playing hide and seek. It seems that they are not only looking for each other, sometimes, dark destiny of their parents is also looking for them. Sometimes that destiny is Srd, who is creeping them, making their lives harder.

They are trying to enjoy their childhood, to be happy, to escape from the dark destiny... but, will they?

Can they escape? Is it possible to escape?

Is it different nowadays?
