Organizer Updates - Success & Challenges/Covid
Philadelphia: Hosted a virtual meetup this month for North American time zones. Satoshi’s Angels sponsored a $60 gift card for agorathreads.com. Planning to host a virtual meetup in February. Organizer recommends https://tongjerky.com/ if you’re looking for beef jerky and want to pay with BCH.
Mexico and international business- Business idea to push BCH to use in large commerce and international business. There are some free trade for import/export and also some trading desks (including bch) that operate across 14 countries in Latam. The 'effort' would be to tie all those things together to create commerce platforms for international business trade. For example, you can move 5M USD of Mexican Pesos, through BCH to Peruvian Soles (for example) in 10-20 minutes with relative ease.
Margarita Island, Venezuela: Onboarded two coffee shops. One shop is located in the largest mall on the island. Also, onboarded a famous barbershop and posted about it on Instagram. Onboarded a supermarket and more:
Collaborating with BCH Argentina to host a virtual meetup in Spanish targeting developers in Latin America.
Nigeria: Awareness of crypto is increasing due to NFTs and government interest. Looking for ideas to create mass adoption. One project is Paysats, it’s a platform which will be deployed in Africa where you can pay electricity bills, top up your phone credits using BCH and crypto. They hope to have the platform launched by the end of the month. Alfatop is similar but they charge taxes and it’s not straightforward because of the API used. Also, the platform will not require sign-up and will be a simple payment only platform. Continue to add merchants but hope this platform will take onboarding and BCH payments in Africa to the next level.
Juba, South Sudan: Hosted an event in January with approximately 30 people including a government official. Looking to create an NFT project and looking for collaborators. Expecting to launch the food truck project in the last week of February. Experienced some delays in wrapping the truck and mirror repairs. (Food truck project background: A truck was purchased with BCH and will be used to promote BCH at the local university. Will allow University of Juba students to purchase food from a truck using BCH and serve as a hub during meetups.)
Detroit: Retailer in Detroit, Michigan accepting BCH. Busy with work and unable to host meetups at this time. Store continues to accept BCH, visit if you’re in the Detroit area.

BCH Merchant Adoption Campaign continues. There is no specific end date and we encourage you to onboard more businesses to BCH. Please share with your members.
