The journey to Rameshwaram, South India proved to be more informative and educative rather than entertaining after the visit to the home of our late President Dr. A.P.J. Abddul Kalam.

Dr. A.P. J. Abdul Kalam was the 11th President of India. His native being Rameshwaram, where fishing being the main source of income. He completed his education in physics and Aerospace engineering and was working as an an Aerospace scientist for some years. This being the reason why he got this title the missile man of India. He got this name because he was involved in the development of missiles. He died due to cardiac arrest, when delivering a thoughtful speech at Indian Institute of Management, in the year 2015.

This was the home of our late President, now turned to museum.

We visited his home at Rameshwaram, which is now a museum with his creations. Here it was strictly prohibited to take photos from the inside gallery. The outside picture of the home was taken with permission. It is two storeyed old building. The first floor was filled with his creations. So all tourists proceeded to the first floor of his home.

Proceeding to the first floor to get a glance of his creations

As he was a recipient of many dignified national awards, all these awards were neatly arranged and placed in a glass cupboard. He was an eminent writer, who penned many books based on his own variety experiences in life.

One of the wonders of his creation was the calipers for the polio affected children. In one of his pleasant talks he mentioned that it gave him immense pleasure when he saw the parent of a polio child crying in happiness, when she saw her child running with the calipers. Calipers is a supporting system for the polio affected child. A caliper created by him wss displayed in the museum.

A collection of books written by him was displayed in the shelf with a board "for sale". The most sold out book was his autobiography "The Wings of fire". His writings are simple for any layman to understand. He wrote too many inspiring books for children. One such is "Ignited minds".

The next part in the museum was models of different kinds of missiles, rockets of different size and shapes both big and small. There were beautiful quotes of the late President displayed in one corner with reasonable price tags. One quote that inspired me a lot was -

The best brains of the nation may be found in the last benches of the class room. by Dr.A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.

I agree to this statement as they are 100% true.

All images captured from my mobile.

Too bad photographs are not allowed. It would have been more interesting to see his works and awards too.

Interesting to also note that such a great man does not have a luxurious mansion and remained humble as his dwelling.

He came from a very poor family. He was also modest. So he learnt more about life than anyone.
