A little harvest from my garden

Just imagine getting pest free veggies and fruits from our garden. They say hardwork always pays. It is very much true when you sow and reap the benefits pest free and fresh from farm to your kitchen with no extra expense.

Let me show you the fruits and vegetables from my farm. Some vegetables like tomatoes and long beans were perished in the heavy downpour of constant rain.

Papaya : One of the most commonly found fruit in our region. It is planted in almost all the house in our place. A very healthy fruit rich in fibre and Vitamin A and C. During the peak of covid, Doctors here recommend most of the patients to consume papaya alongwith medicines, either ripe or raw. Raw can be cooked with some coconut, garlic and cumin and consumed with rich. It is tasty. It helps to strengthen your immunity. The leaves are taken to boil water for drinking purpose. Most of them use it as a face package also. Its botanical name is carica papaya.

Passion fruit: When you cut this fruit it consists of lot of seeds on thick fluid. Very sour indeed. But just add some sugar to it. It will taste good. Most of them take the extract and beat in juicer adding water and sugar. It consists of vitamin A and C. Another immunity booster. Its botanical name is passiflora edulis.

Banana: A commonly found fruit all over the world with different varieties. A fruit with lot of benefits. It is advisable to eat bananas in the morning. This particular fruit is rich in potassium and Vitamin B6 and Vitamin C. Here Banana skin is used as a manure for plants as it contains potassium. Raw bananas which is also called as plantain is used for cooking. Even the banana flower is not spared as it has too much medical benefits when cooked woth lentils.

Tapioca: A starchy tuberous roots grown under the soil. This can be just cooked in water by adding after peeling the skin. Too good when taken with coconut pieces. Here in most evenings we have rice porridge with tapioca. They are rich in carbohydrates.

Egg plant or Brinjal: Commonly found in every country. You can find them in many colours violet, green and white. In India, in most vegetable curries this vegetable is a must.

Bilimbi : It is usually grown in cluster. They are very sour. We use it for making pickles. Here, peoples also add in fish curries. Once ripened it will not stay in tree, it just keeps falling.

It's always exciting to reap the fruit of one's labour. You know when you make the effort and it shows, it's fun. I can imagine your excitement. They are fresh and I'm sure you will enjoy them. I don't joke with Banana and I love eating it a lot.
