What are this character traits that you would want to refine to pure gold?

Have you write it down HERE?

You cannot get this exercise wrong, because as gold is sometimes mixed with other precious metals such as silver, so in one character trait connected to another.

Picking a few character traits to focus on doesn't make them mutually exclusive.

Also, remember that this is just one pass at this, but you can go through this exercise as many times as you want.

As you identify the character traits that are in abundance within you, celebrate them. Seriously! You are a person of great worth who has much to contribute to others.

You have been endowed with these character traits, and they can become a blessing to others, much the same as the character traits you admire in others have strengthened and continue to strengthen you.

As you celebrate your strengths, make a “note to self.” Continue being___(Insert character Traits).

The celebration of your character traits is not just a good idea but a critical step of this process, and that celebration can't be skipped.

The more you look at your strengths, the more graceful you will be for your uniqueness.

Ask your the following questions :

  • What are my strongest character traits? (select at least three.)

  • In what ways have they been manifest in my life?

  • In what ways have they been a blessing to others?

  • How do I feel when I act in accordance to these character traits?

  • When I act in accordance to this character trait, what motivates me to act that way?

The reason for examining yourself this way is not just to get an appreciation for your strengths, but to have a personal experience with your heart and mind (remember the distance between heaven and hell section of my article), as to what it feels like to have your character traits appreciated.

Remember the third allegory of the three-combination lock? learn from without, then grow from within.

As we grow outward from within, only after we go through the process of appreciating and truly celebrating our strengths and genuinely know from experience what that feels like, can we help our family members and then others see the character traits within themselves.

You need to know how to receive before you can know how to give.

You will discover how to help others mine their golden character traits and celebrate their strengths once you have recognized your own.

This is the essence of the first part of building character.

Identify your strengths or character traits, celebrate them, and continue living according to them. The development of our character starts by being and doing what we already know we should be and do, consistently.

It is all too common and so easy in our time management rush of “doing” stuff, to forget to tap into the character traits that will help us achieve our goals and realize the people we want to be.

You may be asking yourself whether magnifying your character traits ultimately leads to achievements.

Are there some character traits that are “better” than others? It's not the character traits that matter as much as how we deliberately and consistently apply them that make the difference.

The other thing to consider is that your unique combination of character traits may be easier for you to live by and harder for someone else, and vice versa. This is about optimizing your character traits and not someone else's.
