The point system: 3 days in

UPDATE: There was a mistake in the original post. Our users collect about 10 times more points than previously stated. See the comment by Cain and our reply for the explanation.

So, the point system has been online for three days and we thought we might share some stats about it.

How many points per day do users accumulate:

Currently, all of read.cash users collect between 5000 and 10'000 points per day.

The fund has about $3'000 so it pays out about $15 per day, so one point cost is:

...less than one cent, namely between 0.1 and 0.4 cents.

We think that the price of points might rise in the next few days, since in the first days a lot of old articles achieved 100+ views. Basically, if an article had 150 views and somebody visited it - it would immediately get "100+ views" bonus, so a lot of old articles generated a lot of points for older authors. This will go down in time and mostly only recent actions will bring points, that's why we think that the point price might increase in the following days (because the daily payout is divided by the number of points accumulated, so fewer points mean greater price).

In the meantime read.cash has crossed 2,500 registered users.

You are actually seeing only the tip of the iceberg. There is a lot of spam removed. Frankly, ALL of our plans now are related to how to curb spam. Though, to be honest, it'll probably take a few months. You can't just ban a spammer - he creates two new accounts immediately :)

It not just monetary reward - look at Facebook, Instagram, even Medium. Everything (even that doesn't give you direct rewards) has spam, the only difference is how fast can you handle it. We can't handle it too fast (yet), but we're working on it :)

What is the timeframe you look at for the page views?

Around 13.8 billions of years. It's hard to look farther. :) Just kidding. There's no timeframe, all articles count.

I'm trying to understand this.

So, let's say there's an author who has been here for 4 months. He has written maybe 50 articles. Ten of them have 100+ views already. However, these articles haven't yet given points to the author. Users visit those articles and at that moment - the author gets some points. Obviously, as time goes by there will be less and less those older articles that still haven't brought points to the authors.

I got it. So there is no time frame as such, it's just when they come into focus. And as time goes by, these articles will just basically become old so they'll kind of automatically roll off. Can an author still earn from an article which he wrote an year ago if it comes back into focus?

Yes. If that article crosses 100 views or 1000 views or gets 10 thumbs up, 40 thumbs up, or an paid upvote $0.05+

@Read.Cash Hi I'm new here and so far I like the whole read.cash working system, the point system is my favorite. Receiving small rewards for all the actions on the page is really satisfying and exciting for me, thanks for all the good work. Congratulations on reaching 2,500 registered users.

Congrats on reaching 2500 users! I am also really digging the new layout and the points system. I've been tracking my points and I think I've had a couple of days where I had over 100 points, so I'd assume I should have received at least 10% of the daily fund payout, which would be at least $1.50. I'm pretty sure I haven't had a fund payment over $0.40. Just want to make sure it's working properly. Thanks and keep it up. I am hugely optimistic about this site.

Hey, you're right. Our chart for points was wrong. It was showing the number of times we gave points, not the total points given, so it's actually not 500-1,000 points per day, but 5,000-10,000 points per day actually. We've updated the chart. There's one more thing - sometimes we can't convert points in that day, because the payment would be smaller than the dust limit on Bitcoin Cash blockchain, in that case the points stay for the next day. So, for example on 27th of April we were able to only convert 3,101 of 5,235 points collected. You have collected 113 points on that day, 113/3101*$11 (payout for that day) = $0.40

We can't rule out any errors right now, since the math is pretty hard due to the dust limit (546 satoshis), but we're still keeping eye on it to make sure it works.

Congratulations on the 2,500 registered users mark! I urge the 2,500 users to always be active on the website. The point system has been excellent to me. It will definitely make people work. A tribe in Nigeria says: "No food for lazy man". Yeah!

Thanks for posting this data! And glad i joined two days a go. This platform has a lot of potential. And 2,500 is a great milestone. Exciting to think BCH price is rising and the BCH per points may rise too. Regular campaigns to grow at this stage would be great and head towards that 10,000 figure! :) congrats to the team and community! :) StarLord
