How often do you tell lies to people around you, even to yourself? Is lying a better part of you? Do you ever feel bad or happy after whenever you tell lies? Or Do you naturally see it as a normal way of living life? Well all these questions and more that one may try to ask in other to get answers as to why people lie is what we are going to be discussing in this article.
WHAT IS LIE?
Lie is an assertion that is believed to be false, typically used with the purpose of deceiving someone. In otherwords, this assertions may come in different forms which includes character, words, body gestures,etc.
TYPES OF LIES
There are different types of lies which can be identified in situations of life. These lies are as fellows; facades, ignoring the plain facts,white lie, deflecting, omission, stereotypes and cliches, groupthink, out-and-out lies, dismissal, and delusion. I will not go into details with the explanation of these different types of lies I have mentioned above.
EFFECTIVE LIES
Effective lies are those assertions which maybe false but can save you from falling into danger, harm or may help you scale through some unforseen circumstances at the moment or in future. Although effective lies may be used in positive or negative circumstances depending on the situation one finds himself or herself. What do I mean by that? A lot of people have one way or the other lied in order to deceive, cover and protect their personal interest or another person's interest and by so doing overcome some certain issues that might hurt them.
Although Friedrich Nietzsche in his thought about lies said something that “he is not upset that you lied to him, rather he is upset that from now on he can't believe you or whatsoever you have to offer again.” but can we say the same thing with effective lie?
From the experience of so many individuals who may have used lies to save themselves from danger and harm from persons who may have bad intentions and motives towards can be used to back up this topic which I am about to explain more to you for your understanding.
SOME EVENTS THAT HAPPEND WHERE EFFECTIVE LIES PLAYED OUT POSITIVELY IN PEOPLE'S LIVES.
A SITUATION WHERE THE MOTHER COVERS UP JUST TO SAVE FOOD FOR THE KIDS
Yes our mothers are one the individuals that make use of effective lie for the sole purpose of saving food for their children in a critical time. A situation where a mother will be feeling hungry and have not eaten but instead she will save some food for the love she has for her children, she will go starving even when she is served with food, she rather prefers to take the food home for the children and if you ask her whether she is satisfied with the food served to her, she will lie and say yes that she is satisfied but in the right sense she is not, all she did was to use effective lie to save food for her children because of the love she has for her children.
SOME FERRY TALES THAT NEVER HAPPENED WHICH ARE TOLD TO KIDS IN THEIR STORY BOOKS
Yes most of the stories some authors write are stories that never happened or existed, in otherwords they are effective lies that are used to educate our children and teach them new things of life. For instance the ferry stories, cartons, 3D fictions stories for the kiddies such as Alice in the wonderland, Cinderella, Tom and Jerry, shreks etc. You know that these stories never existed, in fact they are called fictions which means they are story created out of nothing. They are all effective lies that were created to impact knowledge to kids around the globe.
FAILED RAPE INCIDENT BETWEEN A YOUNG LADY AND SOME GANG OF RAPIST.
In a situation where a young girl was kidnapped by some gang of rapist and in the process she finds herself on the verge of being raped and immediately she starts to think what to do in other to save herself from been raped, eventually she comes up with false assertion of her having a HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) during the struggle with the gang of rapist just to save herself from being raped and out of fear of contacting the virus, the rapists decides to free her and eventually she was not raped. In this situation, the young lady used an effective lie to save herself from being harmed.
THE HOUSE MAID MISINFORMING THE KIDNAPPERS WHO CAME TO KIDNAP THE BOSS.
You must of have heard a situation where a housemaid who takes care of the home and all the domestic jobs in the house of her boss covered up the where about of his boss from the knowledge of the kidnapers who came to pick the boss even on a gun point, out of love and the way the boss and family have been taking good care of her refuses to disclose the whereabout of his boss and family so that the boss will not be taken away and eventually the kidnappers may go without achieving their aim.
IMAGINARY STORIES SHARED BY SOME PRIESTS DURING SERMONS TO LIFT SOULS TO GOD.
Have you not seen a situation where some preachers of word of God creates imaginary stories that never happened in reality for sole purpose of dressing a particular topic during their sermon in order to win more souls for God. in some cases they quote words that were not used in the Bible to back up their preaching for example "Heaven help those who help themselves" Yes Indirectly it's called effective lies that creates positive impact for the growth of God's word around the globe.
REFUSAL TO GRANT SOME REQUESTS FROM THE CHILDREN BY THE PARENTS
This particular incident is what happens in all the families where some parents may refuse to grant some wishes and demands made by their children which may not be needed for them at that particular time of request. Some occasions where the parents may not have the needed finance to cater for what the kids are requesting from them, Instead of responding directly that they don't have the finance at the particular time, they may decide to lie to their kids to cover up so that the kids will not feel bad and notice that the money is available at that moment. This type of lie can be said to be effective.
In conclusion
These assertions we see them everyday of our lives and we have used it in so many aspect of our lives and it has really saved us from a lot of danger and situations that we never believed we could be saved from. Some of the things we have come to know about life presently were also thought us through this way of life, you can see that from the children story books and movies, and some other mediums of learning we have in our schools, libraries and internet today.
