Making Decisions 11/8/21 My article today is based on a lecture we received here in camp, we all make decisions and should endeavour to always make the right decisions. Each and every day of our lives we are faced with various situations in life which requires that we make choices. Some choices we make are very easy, and most times, some of them can be so difficult. Easy decisions such as what clothing we should wear; most of us choose what to wear based on the season of the year we are, the weather of the day, and where we might be have in mind to go Most of the decisions that seem to be very difficult are the ones that requires a very deep level of thought from us. Examples of some difficult decisions we make, are things like where to attend school, the career path that would be the best for us to take up, and/or whether or not to marry and start a family first. All these decisions are so difficult to decide on because they are all life changing decisions; they shape who we are and also moulds our future perfectly. Making good decisions is something that must be learned and adopted properly. It is not something which we are born into, but basically a step by step process which is usually gotten from our life experiences. Some adults actually know that getting an experience could be a very costly thing, teachers that are not effective will instill more bad habits than good in their students; and because decisions can vary vividly from one situation to another, the experience we gain from making important decisions is at times of little or no use when you are encountered by other decision making problems. When we want to make decisions, there are many steps that we can take; but I'll talk only about five which are important. These steps are as follows: ‍ Step 1: Endeavour to Identify Your Goals A very effective decision making strategy is to keep your eyes set on your goals. This means that you should identify the purpose of any decision you make by asking yourself what exactly is the problem that has to be solved? And why exactly this problem needs solution.⁵ ‍ Step 2: Gather Information needed on order to Weigh Your Options When we are making good decisions it is important to gather information that is directly related to the problem and not those that are unnecessary. Doing this will help you to have better understanding of what you need to do in order to solve all problems we have at hand, and this will also help to gather ideas that would lead to possible solution. ‍ Step 3: Always Consider the Consequences of every Decision made We should take this step as important as te first step because it will help you decide how your final decision will be of benefit to you, and/or others involved. Also here, you will ask yourself what would likely be the results of whatever decision you make. How will this decision affect you now? Or how will this decision affect you in the future? Step 4: Make Your Decision Firmly Now that you have identified your goal, gathered all information needed, and have weighed the consequences of every decision you make, it is time for you to make a choice and actually execute your final decision without doubt. Also understand that this step can put lots of people in great anxiety and it's very important because here you have to trust whatever your instinct decides on. ‍ Step 5: Evaluate Your Final Decision Now, immediately after you make your final decision and have successfully put it into action, it is advisable to evaluate the decision you made and all the steps you have taken so far in order to ensure that it works. I'll say this final step is probably just as important as step one, if not even more important than it, because it will help you to develop your decision making skills further for any problems you might encounter in the future. Although the five steps I listed above can help and assist us in simplifying the decision we make, there are some common drawbacks that we must also take into account. ‍ **Identifying the Wrong Problem** **Having only a Single Source** **Getting Information from Too Many Sources** **Overestimating the Outcome you might receive** **Poor Timing** When there are more than enough steps than we can count at once, most people tend to either skip or overlook a step, or wrongly construe the order in which they should follow the steps. If you follow the five steps above, and also remember the common pitfalls that have been mentioned too, you will be well on your way to making the best decisions for yourself. N.B: Still in camp, 5days to go.💃💃💃💃

Always manage your Anger(Day 10/11 in Camp) 9/10/21 I read a news online today,of a young school boy killed by his roommate out of anger. You can read the story via this link. http://opr.news/4a00bef2210808en_ng?link=1&client=news The comments of people under the post brought about my topic today. We need to learn how to manage our anger. I know and agree that it is very normal to get angry. But we should be ready to get our anger under control. You can start controlling your anger by considering the following anger management tips. Always try to think first before you speak When in the heat of the moment, there's possibility that you will easily say something you will regret later. Always collect your thoughts well before speaking. Also, allow others that are involved in the conversation speak their minds too. Once you're in a calm state, express your anger as lightly as possible As soon as you know you've gone down on the anger you feel within you, and you are already thinking clearly, you will need to express the frustration you feel towards the person in an assertive but not in a confrontational way. Make the person aware of your concerns and needs very clearly and directly, without hurting others or trying to boss over them. Ensure you get some exercise Observing basoc Physical activities can help us to reduce stress that can make us so angry. If you feel your anger is getting more intense, go for a brisk walk or take a run, you can even spend some time doing other physical activities that you enjoy doing. Try to Take a timeout Taking timeouts isn't just for babies. You need to give yourself the treat of short breaks at intervals during times of the day that seem too stressful. Having a few moments of quiet time might help you feel so prepared enough to handle what you have ahead without getting irritated or angry at all. My sponsors Give time to Identify the possible solutions to your anger issues Instead of feasting all your anger on what made you mad, try to work on resolving the issue you have at hand. Do you get angry or driven crazy by your child's messy room? Is your partner always late for dinner and that gets you angry? Schedule meals for later in the evening when they would be back or agree to eat on your own a few times a week. Always remind yourself that anger won't fix anything for you and it might only make things worse. Stick with the 'I' statements To avoid placing blames on people which might only increase the tension between you two, try to use "I" statements to describe the problem at hand instead. Be very respectful, accurate and specific in your explanation. For example, say, "I am upset that you left the dishes on the table without even attempting or offering to help with the dishes" instead of "You are lazy, you don’t do any housework. Don't hold grudges at all because life is so simple A powerful tool we should all ensure we have is forgiveness. If you allow anger take over you and also allow other negative feelings to crowd out all positive feelings you possess, you might find yourself being eaten up by your own bitterness or your sense of injustice. But if you can forgive someone who made you angry, then both of you might learn from the situation and it might strengthen your relationship. Use your sense of humor to release tension Lightening up at all times can help diffuse tension. Use humor to help you face what's making you angry and, possibly, any unrealistic expectations you have for how things should go. Avoid sarcasm, though — it can hurt feelings and make things worse. Endeavour to practice relaxation skills When your temper is about flaring up, try to put relaxation skills to work. Practice exercises that would make you breathe deep. Keep imagining a relaxing scenerio, or try repeating a calming word or phrase, such as "Take things easy dear." You might also try listening to music, write daily activities in a journal or do a few yoga poses too. Whatever it will take to encourage your relaxation. Please know when to seek for help Learn to control your anger, it is often a challenge for most people at times. Always seek help for anger issues if you know your anger seems too much out of control, or if you know your anger issues causes you to do things you regret or if it hurts those around you. I was unable to post yesterday. I have 10 more days in camp. So, let the countdown begin.

Ways to be a Consistent Writer(Day 9 in Camp) 7/8/21 Please go through this article if you're battling with consistency as a writer. Contrary to the majority's thought, consistency is not you "necessarily" writing and publishing your content daily. I can create multiple contents daily and even when I started writing, I was posting contents daily. Until I read a post where it was mentioned that giving your audience a breathing space to digest your contents matters and choking them with contents is not consistent. Sometime later, my very good friend who is also a content writer confirmed what I read. It's not wrong to show up every day with content but it is better to give your audience time to digest your content. Consistency is you showing up regularly and not daily as a writer. You can have a plan to publish your content 4 times in a week and you stick to it. When I newly joined LinkedIn. I remember that I'm always trying to figure out what I would write about, and if I'd get anyone to even want or like to read my stuff. I see people post different things daily, I mean good contents, I wonder if I can ever get to that level. But a post I read on LinkedIn, I really can't remember the person who made the post. I tried locating the post but couldn't. That particular post really helped me to get over some of those initial confidence scare that were preventing me from publishing my first good post. And also, being consistent here on these community for close to two month has also built my strong will for writing. The writers first two tips were; ✍Write what you know", and ✍Write often", and these were just the kind of encouragement I needed to get started with my writing. Many writers on LinkedIn that I know and follow up on their posts on LinkedIn have often maintained a consistent schedule of writing, some have published far more than I have. But I also see many people write only once, twice, or thrice, and then, they stop. That's because they lack the spirit of consistency. They need to be more consistent and keep hitting until they get it right. Many other people have not even attempted to publish their first post, they only opened the site without trying to update their profile and make it catchy. *Check out my sponsors posts* Maybe they have mindsets of getting started, but they haven't mustered the courage to hit publishon their post yet. Or maybe they haven't even figured out how they would go about writing yet. I seriously empathize with these kind of people because I have once being in their shoes. Writing on what you think or feel about a topic you care about and sharing it with hundreds or thousands of people you don't even know or that you've never met at all around the world can be daunting. And you might just be having a second thought that who will be interested in reading what you have to say?. Just look at the loads of words that are published everyday: records shows that 150,000 new posts are published each week on LinkedIn. Here are a few reasons that I hope will convince you to get started: ✍Write because you want to make things better at work, at home, or in your community. ✍Write to discover new things about yourself and the world. ✍Write because you're tired if consuming other people's ideas and you want to start creating and sharing your own. ✍Write because you want to leave your mark on the world However, being consistent even if it's just 3 days in a way is not easy but with these ways, it will be less stressful: Mark the days on your calendar and set your reminder: Don't just say you want to be consistent, mark out certain days of the week that you want to show up and set your alarm device to remind you. Let the days stick in your head and remind yourself that no matter what, you must feed your audience with content. Remind yourself of the reason you became a writer. Have an accountability partner: Having a person that can keep you on your toes will help you to be consistent. Inform the person of your schedule and make it a duty to report to the person. When you're struggling to be consistent, your partner will be the one to ginger you. Have a content bank: Storing your content ideas will help you to be consistent even though you're busy. All you will have to do is copy content from your bank and feed your audience. On Nysc News: Today was my Man'O War drill. I climbed everything climbable. I really enjoyed myself.

All hope is not lost, you can still make it(Day 8 in camp) 6/8/21 My message for today is based on a story told of a BROKEN ṢẸ̀KẸ̀RẸ̀. Many years ago there lived a very powerful king who invited the most popular musician in his village to come and make him happy with some good music at his palace. Immediately the musician heard of the king's call, he immediately started to prepare himself for his special visit to the palace. One of the highlights of his career had been to play for the king, has he had always been the one playing for the king yearly. No one had ever played more times for the king within or without the city than this man. But there was something special about this new invitation that differentiated it from every other times he had been going to the palace- this invitation promises to be the biggest invitation he had ever received from the king, therefore, he was focused on making the most use of it. He was someone we can call a one-man band , he plays alone, so, planning was very easy since he doesn't need to start calling people to help him or for song rehearsals. He started his preparation for the trip immediately he left the King's Palace. This man we are talking about in this story was particularly very much known for his musical skills and talents with the Ṣẹ̀kẹ̀rẹ̀. His mastery and skill of the Ṣẹ̀kẹ̀rẹ̀ always went ahead of him like lightning and thunder. On the D-Day before the cockcrow, he carefully and skillfully packed his Ṣẹ̀kẹ̀rẹ̀ in his specially designed dried leather skin bag which was used for carrying the Ṣẹ̀kẹ̀rẹ̀, and set out for his long awaited great journey to the palace. However, for him to get to the King's Palace, he had to cross a stream. He was almost crossing over the stream to the other side of the stream when he slipped off the tiny plank and his feet went deep into the muddy shores of the retreating waterline. He slipped and landed on the floor, flat on his face right there at the stream edge. As he tried his best to get up and wipe off his muddled face, he noticed that his Ṣẹ̀kẹ̀rẹ̀ was broken. On seeing that his Ṣẹ̀kẹ̀rẹ̀ was broken , the man broke down in tears. He stated weeping profusely. Since he was the only one there at that time, there was no one that saw his tears and there was also no one there to comfort him. Why on earth would my ṣẹ̀kẹ̀rẹ̀ decide to break on one of the most important days of my life? He knew that going back home for a new one was never an option, in his broken state, the musician packed his broken Ṣẹ̀kẹ̀rẹ̀ and continued on his journey to the palace. Immediately reached the palace, he was brought before the king to perform. He brought out his broken ṣẹ̀kẹ̀rẹ̀ from the bag and began to play it as it was. Since the Ṣẹ̀kẹ̀rẹ̀ was broken, he needed more energy to produce the sound he wanted. He decided to pour all his energy into his performance that day. All the people at the palace were hearing the sound of the broken ṣẹ̀kẹ̀rẹ̀ but thought it was a new musical instrument. While he was singing and beating the Ṣẹ̀kẹ̀rẹ̀ , the whole palace erupted in dance. The king was as well so happy that he soon stood up to join the party. In his happiness, the king started performing the legendary dance the warriors danced. Everyone present at the palace that day thoroughly enjoyed themselves, asides from the man whose Ṣẹ̀kẹ̀rẹ̀ was broken. His heart bleeds as he performed, he looked around and saw that virtually everyone was happy, no one saw his tears. No one even noticed that his Ṣẹ̀kẹ̀rẹ̀ was broken. "That was the best music I had ever heard ", the king said to him. "Thank you, Your Majesty", he said to the King. Broken people still keep giving themselves to others around them. We still have some people who would go out of their way to serve others, and to make others happy, but this they do, not because they have everything together in their capacity but because they realize that their broken ṣẹ̀kẹ̀rẹ̀ will sometimes produce good music. Yes, yes, we should know that broken Ṣẹ̀kẹ̀rẹ̀ sometimes produces the best music we've ever heard. When you feel hurt, this is one of the best times for you to serve others. That's also one of the best times where you get to draw from your inner strength to attempt those things you wouldn't have done ordinarily, dbut would have ordinarily walked away from. There are many times people cry when they are alone and no one sees them. Even with the way some people work, serve others, even despite their own secret problems and tears, other people may hardly notice or find it difficult to notice that anything is wrong. But still, they kept on serving. I don't know if you are broken, even in your brokenness, you can still serve and you can still be of help to others. Or do you think it is as a result of coincidence that some of the biggest food banks in the world were founded by people who once went to bed hungry? Some of the biggest marriage counsellors we have today were people who once struggled or failed in their attempt at marriages. Some of the best writers we have today were people who had once struggled to write a correct sentence. Some ṣẹ̀kẹ̀rẹ̀ might be broken, but still, they could go out of their own way to help othe broken people heal. We musn't let what is not working keep us from being nice to others. So, YES, BROKEN ṢẸ̀KẸ̀RẸ̀'S CAN STILL PRODUCE THE BEST MUSIC. BE YOUR BEST NO MATTER WHAT. Day 8 went smoothly as usual,I can't wait to go home. I slept off while writing this article which made me publish this late. Worries ends where Faith begins(Day 7 in camp) My day went well as usual. I didn't involve in much activity today because today was our graduation as SDG's(Sustainable Development Goal). That's my CDS group. And I'm awaiting when I will create my own platform focusing mainly on child abuse. **I heard the story of a very poor woman today. I was told she called a radio station asking for help from God.** Then in another place there was a non-believer who also happened to be listening to this radio station's program, he decided to make fun of the woman. He decided to get the woman's address from the radio station he was listening to and then he told his secretary to carry a very large amount of foodstuff to the woman and also packaged money for her. However, he sent the secretary off with the following instruction, "When you get to the woman's place and the woman asks who sent the foodstuffs, tell her that it was sent to her from the devil.'' So, when the man's secretary got to the woman's house, the woman was so happy that God answered her prayer. She was grateful for the help she just received and then she started putting the food packets into her small house. The secretary then asked her the question he was ordered to ask by his boss, ''Don't you want to know who sent the food?'' The woman replied, ''No, I do not have any care about who sent the foodstuff or even the money because whenever GOD orders, even the DEVIL obeys! He dare not go against the order" Now, imagine the woman's reaction/faith. She announced her needs because she knew God will definitely send help. God did sent help. It made me remember a song we do sing when I was in teenage class. **Verse 1** You’re worried about tomorrow And what the future holds Your mind is filled with questions As you face the unknown You’ve spent so many sleepless nights Trying to work it out Worry has consumed your faith With all its fear and doubt **Chorus** Worry ends where faith begins When you put it in God’s hands And leave it there…Oh just leave it there He’s still in control so trust in Him And take a hold of faith again For worry ends where faith begins **Verse 2** Why should we ever worry Why should we fret at all When worry only hinders The mighty hand of God He said it is impossible To please him without faith So lay aside your worry Walk on in Jesus name **WORRIES will definitely END immediately where or when FAITH BEGINS.** My sponsors **There's also a story about two farmers who desperately needed rain to fall in order to have good farm produce during the harvest year.** Both of them decided and they prayed for rain to fall, but only one of them went out and prepared his fields ahead in other to receive the rain. Who amongst them do you think really trusted and had faith in God that He would send down the rain? In the bible days, the people who lived around surroundings of Isaac, stopped sowing seeds, they keep saying, “There are neither winds nor rains”. However, Isaac casted his entire burden on God, relying on Him without having any reservations. He likewise sowed seeds with faith keeping his focus and gaze on the heavenly Father, the one who is the Maker of heaven and earth. We know from Him our help comes. The Almighty God does not look at the seeds Isaac sowed but He saw his faith and said, “My child has sown his seeds believing and trusting me, therefore let me bless My child.” He blessed Isaac on every side and made him prosperous a hundredfold. Likewise friend, whoever you might be, reading this article, anywhere in the world, if you are waiting for something good or expecting blessings from the Lord it won't happen unless and until you go out and work for it. **That was the faith the woman in the first story used, going to the radio station. The farmer in the second story also made these great move by tilling and preparing his farm ahead of the rain.** If you know you want to score high marks in your studies then you have to work hard and study well. If you want to see/receive profits in your businesses then you have to put in all your full efforts into it. Then the Lord will see your faith and bless you just like the woman in the story, the farmer and of course like Isaac – a hundredfold.

@QueenRay

Self Determination a(Day 6 in Camp) In life, we are always driven by our self will, so today, I'll be writing today on self determination, because if you do not have determination in life, you tend to miss out on some basic things in life. **What do we mean by Self-determination?** Basically, when we say self determination, it can be said to be the right of a people to determine its own destiny at the appropriate time. In particular, self determination allows people to choose their own personal social development without it being enforced on them. Here in NYSC camp, if you are not someone of self determined nature you will get lost and so confused about what to do and what path to take. Exercising your right of self determination can result in a variety of different outcomes such as full independence. The importance of self determination lies in the fact that you would have the right to make a choice of you own, so that the outcome of whatever choice you make would not affect the existence of your right to make a choice of your own. However, when we come to practical aspect of it, it is very easy for us to plan to be determined but not bring it to realisation. And whatever outcome we get out of an exercise of self-determination we may give ourselves will often determine the attitude people towards your actual claim or decision. **Self will is also related to self determination as it means being persistent in carrying out one's own will or wishes, especially when in a relationship with other people; it also means having a form of stubbornness or obstinacy.** Self will can be used interchangeably with self determination. What other meanings does determination have? **Determination is said to be Transforming** Your inner talents may create a lot of opportunities for you, but you have to put in a whole lot of work to make those opportunities which are opened for you a reality. It's very good to work hard and it is as well very important that, even if your talent is not too good, you can still use your determination to change that which you have into good success. **Determination will keep You Going without falling back** Determination is also about being very focused on your goal. In as much as you have a set goal, you can then create many paths to achieving that goal, as well moving ever closer to the success you want. **Determination helps one to Overcome any iota of Failure** What might become of you if you run into problems on the path to achieving your goals? When you go through your goals or you walk towards a new path in life. Determination will help you to keep going no matter what is placed before you. With your determination you will know that failure is just a diversion. It’s not the end for us. If you're worried that you do not have enough determination, you can take bold steps to improve your decision making. You can: **Remain Focused on your Future** Let the past failures and successes guide you, but never let it overwhelm you. The mistakes you make yesterday should be lessons for you, and not reasons for you to be despaired. **You need to Believe in Yourself** You are in absolutely in control of your own life. So, even in the difficult times, you still get to decide what you should do. Believe in yourself that you have the capability to reach your goals or achieve whateveryou are determinedto achieve. **Celebrate Others** You need to be happy for whoever wins because jealousy of other people's success will just slow you down. Instead of detesting what other people achieve, you should see it as something you should celebrate. After all, every time someone reaches their goal, it’s proof that such goals are achievable and reachable. You can also achieve yours, too, if you stay focused and positive always **Always have Smaller Goals Within the Larger Goals you Dream of** In other to keep yourself going, you need to give yourself milestones you know you want to reach. In many ways, reaching a big goal is like winninga race. You cannot focus on every long miles of it at once. Instead, it’s better to focus on a mile per time. **Be Grateful and Thankful always** Take time to recognize or note the things you have instead of fantasizing about the things you don't have yet. It will help you to remain grounded and also keep you thinking about the positive side only. So, where can you get to with determination or what can you achieve with determination? If you’re thinking about advancing in life or you even have an opportunity of changing your career, then determination can significantly improve your chances of achieving your goals. And then you can begin your march forward by using your determination to earn a degree. Today in camp was more like yesterday. But I partook majorly in my CDS group. Which was why I decided on the topic determination.

SAED and CDS Programmes et Social Activities (Day 5 in Camp) 3/8/21 Today is actually my happiest day in camp. I enjoyed myself sooooo much. Moral was so high!!! We started the day by waking up very early as usual. The bugle sounded at exactly 5:00am. Haven woken up earlier to freshen up and dress up, all I did was just to wear my sneakers and move out of the room. We all filed out of our various groups to the parade ground. The National anthem was recitedafter which the platoon at work, platoon 7 took over. Platoon 7 prayed, gave exhortation and sang praises and worship. After which we had our drills and Man O'War activities. All this lasted till 6:30am when we went for lectures on NYSC Skills Acquisition and Entreneurship Development. We were told that the Lagos State Government and NYSC scheme at large is interested in empowering her Youths. Even as we work white collar jobs we need to have a skill as well. Even the rich wants more money 💰hence the need to be involved in one or two other money rewarding skill. This ended by 7:30am After the lectures we went for our meal, I ate my own meal at the volleyball Court because we had rehearsal till 9am when the SAED Program started in full. The Saed program started at exactly 9:15am. Right before it started we were told that the King and his chieves will be coming on a visit to our camp to make us aware of the cultural values of Lagos. So, we were taught how to greet the King of Lagos, Oba Akinlolu. The females are to kneel, while the male prostrate while saying Katie's Knowing fully well that the three dominant and major tribes in Lagos are the Yoruba's, Igbo's and Hausa's. The program started fully, there was a showcase of various skills one can acquire such as, Cosmetology, automobile, food processing, ICT, Beautification and of course Catering which was the SAED unit I joined. After this presentation, the Oba(King) of Lagos's representative, his chieves and one of his princes came up to the high table. Youth Corp members from the three tribes came out to give them a befitting welcome. I took some pictures because it was such a wonderful experience. The most wonderful news was that the yoruba guy that sang praises was favoured as, the number one Corp member in Lagos State, that is the state coordinator gave him a permanent slot to serve at the King's Palace receiving all entitlement of the King's subject. They also gave them a token each. The Prince came up to teach us about the cultures of Lagos State. Places one should go and where one shouldn't. He said we should ensure to be of good report as there are lots to learn and know about Lagos State and all this can only be achieved by following the laid down guidelines. Then there was also a presentation by CDS groups. I joined the Sustainable Development Goal(SDG), we had our meeting by 3pm to 5pm, I love this CDS unit as I'll love to solve problems of the community long term with minimum resources. We went back to join the others on parade, till 6: 30pm when the parade ended. By 7 we ate our dinner, which was Jollof rice and meat. Delicious 😋😋😋😋 Then the real competition began, drama and cultural dance competitions. Drama Topic: The Youth and Covid-19 translating from the new normal to the new norm, Platoon 4 started with their drama presentation They had 10 mins each. Platoon 4 were still on the 3rd scene when their time was up. Platoon 8 was next on the list, below is a picture of one of the scenes of the drama shows the President giving an awareness to the masses on Covid-19. Platoon 5 came next and here's a scene from their drama The cultural dance came next and it was such a wonderful performance. Here are my sponsors. Check out their articles. Lead image: I took it after my SDG program, as I love the beauty of the bird. **Luckily today;** **I successfully added a Corp member from Lagos Nigeria to read.cash community.** Please friends help me welcome @Prisca

Swearing-in parade Batch B Lagos Corper(Day 4 in camp) For me, I had almost two years to prepare for my National Youth Service Corps having finished my final paper in December 2019. So I was adequately and very much prepared for the strictly regulated lifestyle on Camp. I was assigned at first to room 48 which is at the topmost floor, but on getting to the room the bunks were bad so I switched room and got a room on the ground floor, room 6. I settled down in the room assigned to me watching my roommates in order to be sure the degree of the safety of my belongings as I have been fed with numerous stories of stealings that go on in NYSC camps as we have various people from various places across the nation and no one knows the other person's intentions . Though I got a padlock for my bags. As it later turned out, we were shocked with reports of numerous incidents of such thefts that has occurred in this little time we got to camp. I don't know why some people deem it fit to steal other people's properties. One of us couldn't mount parade on time today because his khaki trouser was stolen. Until they gave him a new one. *Today was our swearing-in parade and the Lagos State Governor was duly represented by the state coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps in Lagos State, Mr Eddy Megwa.* **"SHOW CHARACTER WITH THE LEADERSHIP MANTLE HANDED OVER TO YOU, MEGWA URGES LAGOS CORPS MEMBERS** *The State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps in Lagos State, Mr Eddy Megwa has urged corps members of the 2021 batch 'B' Stream I Orientation course to show character with the leadership mantle handed over to them by their predecessors. He made this statement during the Swearing-In Ceremony of the 2021 batch 'B' Stream I corps members at the NYSC camp, Iyana-Ipaja, today.* *Mr Megwa who served as the representative of Lagos State Governor at the occasion, while declaring the Orientation Course officially open said 'some 48 years ago, the first set of corps members took this same Oath of Allegiance which you have just taken today. Since 48 years ago, the scheme has been soaring, cutting across all the nooks and crannies of Nigeria. Today, the mantle of leadership has fallen on you to carry the good news of the NYSC to different parts of the State and Nigeria, at large. Having received the certificates of higher learning, the next thing that is expected of you is to show character.'* *The State Coordinator who stressed the need for the corps members to show character, said, why nations of the world fail is because of lack of character by citizens. He urged them to contribute their service to the nation with utmost dependability, selflessness and perseverance.* *Appreciating the State Government for its continuous support to the scheme, Mr Megwa reminded them of the need to hasten the drive for the construction of the permanent orientation camp in Agbowa, Ikorodu, Lagos, which he said will ease the operations of the NYSC in the State of Excellence.* *Meanwhile, earlier, the Oath of Allegiance was administered on 2041 registered corps members; 1446 females and 595 males by the representative of the Chief Judge of Lagos State, Honorable Judge Lateef Lawal-Akapo.* *It is important to state that 228 and 229 Lagos corps members have been dislodged to Ogun and Oyo States respectively where they are meant to observe their orientation exercise before returning to Lagos to continue their service year."* After his speech, it was announced that we were given a 3 hours break to celebrate our swearing-in. We were glad to have this break(I in particular). As I said yesterday, my platoon was on duty today. I was assigned to Man the kitchen in the afternoon. I was happy knowing that I'll be free from long hour parade today. Fellow corps members freely mingled with one another and in a matter of few days that we met, you would have thought that we’ve known each other for years. Relationships were established, numbers exchanged and emotions expressed. For me, I went to the camp with two basic resolutions which were to network as far as possible but to also keep a low profile as much as possible. As a result of my resolutions, I didn’t hold any post throughout my stay in the orientation camp because I already had more than enough responsibilities before coming to camp and I wasn’t prepared to add more to them. Even when my name is suggested, I outrightly turned down the offers because I wasn’t ready to continue the African mentality of ‘me-and- only-me’ syndrome. Though I joined a few unit, the choir, volleyball, and Match past. I knew there were other corps members that can do better than me if given the chance so there was no point being greedy and competing for every available position on camp. Some corps members advertised their nuisance value by trying to nosedive into everything while in camp. In the aspect of networking, I did my best to network with those that have the same orientation as mine. This is just a tip from today at the NYSC camp. Join me tomorrow as I take you through my NYSC camp world. Note: All images were taken at the camp ground today by our Platoons photographer today.

Orientation Camp(Day 3 in camp) 1/8/21 **Happy new month my readcash family.👪** I'm saying from my side here that God will make this month productive for us all by His grace. **Back to my update for today.** Today is my 3rd day in camp. Any free time I have, I put down a bit of each day's article and publish it after editing all at night. So, it's night here in Nigeria and we are done with today's activities. So, yesternight, I almost got punished alongside my hostel mates and some other people. It happened that we were asked to come outside for party at 8pm. Being tired, I decided not to go, that I was going to relax and rest after a tiring parade. Not quite long I heard the sound of the trumpet followed by an announcement that all Corp members should come outside. Some of us still ignored the call, blaming tiredness. Then the soldiers came in to send us out themselves after collecting our ID cards. We were told that we would undergo rigorous punishment after the party by 10pm, I was already scared 😨😳. At that point I wanted to say " I'm no longer interested in serving the nation. But to cut the long story short, the party extended till 10:30pm, and we were pardoned as well. So, today is almost a free day for us all. As the morning is for activities which are not necessarily compulsory. You go at your own will. On hearing the sound of the bugle by 5:20am, I immediately logged on to my phone, where a message was waiting for me. I told us yesterday that I joined the volleyball team, so this was the message So, my free day was interrupted by the message above. We were meant to practice by 12 noon but they moved it to 7:00am. I went some minutes to 7, but I was the only ones present, the instructors were unhappy but started training only me until 8:30am. I was told another time would be scheduled. I got in, dressed up and went for the NCCF. From service I went straight back to volleyball Court for training. I met 3 other ladies, the trainer gave up on us after an hour because we were not making any progress. I was tired though because I didn't get to rest after the morning training because I went to church. We went out in the evening after meal and siesta, parade drills and Man O War. As expected, the rehearsals were very tiring. This was because the swearing in is tomorrow (Monday) and we needed to attain some level of satisfaction from the soldiers in charge of our training. *Visit my sponsors page and upvote their posts. Thanks.* The soldiers showed a very high level of discipline and they demanded the same from us. To the extent that even if you are a minute late for rehearsals, you're well punished. It was that simple!😁 Although, considering that it was only a paramilitary training, they were also very friendly and approachable. In a way, I usually looked forward to the period of rehearsals. You want to ask me why? Because the different styles of marching that some people exhibited were so funny and at times, even the soldiers were forced to laugh. 😂 A lady was literally dancing rather than marching. 😂😂 Of course, you must have seen many short video clips of such occurrences on social media. I pray my platoon wins lots of medal in the upcoming competition between Platoons. Our volleyball team (only ladies) in particular. It was normal to have a good rest after a day filled up with different activities. But the urge to sleep quickly will disappear after over 30 minutes of crouching and frog jump🤣🤣🤣🤣, if one gets disciplined, so I do not wish to have this experience. I will abide by rules and yield whenever the bugle sounds, no matter how inconvenient it is for me. Tomorrow is my platoons day, which means we'll cheer every activities that takes place in camp tomorrow. Starting from the prayer, praise and worship session to the cooking, sanitation and other activity. I'm one of the choristers for tomorrow. Till tomorrow. Thank you so much for following.😍😍✌️✌️ **Lead image:** My Platoon preparing for tomorrow's meal. One bag of beans was picked. **Please advice: I try telling people here about Bitcoincash but they all seem so concerned about their account number. I told them no one needs their account number as all they need to do is log in to read.cash and post their article after registering.** They said at least they still have to convert the money in order to withdraw and be able to spend it. I don't know how else to make them understand and join the community.

@QueenRay

Service: A privilege(Day 2 in camp) "I cannot wait to see how you'll look dressed in your NYSC outfit, make sure you send pictures", my neighbour said to me as I left home for camp. It was quite an interesting sight to behold at the main gate of the Lagos Orientation Camp on Friday morning. Many buses which conveyed various Prospective Corp member from their different states to the Lagos Orientation Camp, their state of deployment. There were friends that were posted as far as Jos, Sokoto, Enugu, Borno, Kano, Kebbi, Nasarrawa, Adamawa and so on. I got slightly lucky though, would have gone to Anambra. Compared to my own 1 hour, 30 minutes journey, they would be traveling for twice or even thrice the time of my own journey. Mission to report to NYSC Lagos Orientation Camp. Vehicle set! Doors jammed! Driver ready! Engine starts up! E.T.A. : 1 hour! Journey began : 6:00am Journey ends : 7:30am ....5,4,3,2,1. Off we go!🚌🌪️🌪️😅😅 To my anticipated astonishment, everyone I saw in the camp were completely new faces. In fact, I was left wondering if we actually have all this students in Nigeria not to talk of having them all over the states in Nigeria.😂 Anyways, it was intelligible. My Alma Mata(University of Ibadan, first and the best as we pride ourselves) alone is a city on its own and even the most social person cannot know everyone. There would still be someone that you have never met. Since we all shared the same same state of deployment abd we'll be stucked together for close to three weeks, it was easy to start a conversation when you meet a new person. I finally settled down in my allocated room around 3 pm having undergone the normal checking and registration processes. I did some arrangements before going out to give myself a deserved treat of cooked indomie garnished with sausage and fried eggs😋😋 at the popular "mammy" market. Today is when it really dawned on me that I was now at camp where I would be involved in a 21-day paramilitary training. We went through rigorous parade rehearsals in preparation for the swearing-in ceremony scheduled to hold on Monday. At a point, I was like; "abeg, na Mathematics I go study for school na".😂😂 People were fainting, the red Cross members were already on standby to take them to the clinic. We were woken up by a loud trumpet sound at exactly 4:50am, we immediately went down to the parade ground. We said the anthems, prayers and meditation. Attendance was taken. And other short lectures, the interesting one was the Man O War. I love it. I have an issue here, phones were not allowed on the parade ground, so I couldn't snap , but I paid a photographer and would get my photos later(I guess that's after the camp though. Then we went for meal, Pap and 2 akara's(I'm sorry I didn't take it. I only took an apple and yoghurt) Oh yeah! I was allocated to Platoon 6, so while platoon 1-5 were having their briefings, we the platoon 6-10 went through a rigorous match past, as tiring and strenuous as it was, it was interesting 😉😀👍. I think I'll consider going into military service.🤣🤣🤣🤣 We were dismissed to go freshen up and take our meal. After which we did the cleaning of the rooms and the delegated soldiers came to inspect the rooms. After sanitation we went for a lecture on security. How to stay secured in your place of assignment. (It was a VERY boring 😴😒😑🙄😪 session) as they were repeating things we were used toover and over again. Prospective Corp members were sleeping, as they were tired as well. We had an hour family meeting. Family meeting us a meeting held by each platoon. Platoon 6 met, we had a discussion on the various activities we will engage in. I joined the volleyball 🏐, drama and choir group. We have other groups, social, cultural, football, red cross, among others. Please try not to be bored about my camp experiences. I know it's boring, but I need to pen it down. I'll continue in tomorrow's writeup.. Thank you for following!😍😍 Eshey o✌️✌️🙌 Lead image: Corpers in action.

Life of a Corper(Day 1 in camp) 30/7/21 For the next 3 weeks I'll be updating us on my journey in serving my father land. I started writing this article while I was in the bus I'm fully prepared. All Nigerian graduates are to mandatorily enroll for the one-year scheme, they are to accept job postings across the numerous sectors in the country. There's even a current bill in the House of Representatives which suggests that the programme should be scrapped. But, I stand for not scraping the program,why? I love the outfit.🤣🤣💃💃 But the president has repeatedly expressed full backing for the continuation of the scheme, arguing that it is a great tool which is needed to unite the already fractured country. Just as I am so prepared. I have a full bag of loads. This time yesterday, I was jubilating because I got deployed to Lagos. For those that might not know, in Nigeria here we see Lagos as our own small London🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣, (well, let me not generalise, that's how I see it) so to serve there, you have to carry yourself with pride. Remember I told us that I was posted to a southern state which I didn't like at first but decide to create a liking for, since I have no choice but to go. You can check out my article Am I Disappointed to get the full detail. Since I do not know anyone in Anambra, I decided to pack my load as if I was travelling out for almost a year😅😅😄(Lol) Okay I made my transport bookings on Tuesday as I wanted to go by bus. Since I could't afford taking a flight which would have been more faster and stress free for me. Anyways, I was already at the motor park, when a friend called me, and told me to ask if the driver would be taking me straight to my destination. Tge driver said No, and on hearing this I was sad thinking of how I was going to locate the place. Then I decided to check my portal to view the address, as I logged into the portal, I was so surprised and at the same time shocked to see the change has been reflected and I've been deployed to my dream state. You see, disappointments come for a reason. That there was a delay in my wish does not mean that I would be denied but God was waiting for the right time to launch my celebrations. I'm hoping this will be a very great experience for me. I'll like you all to wish me an hitch free stay in camp. Lagos is just few hours drive to my place unlike the other place that is a day's journey by road. Here are some of the things I got; I have almost 8 of these, all through our stay I camp, we would only be permitted to be on white top and a white short aside from the crested top and khaki they will give us. https://corpershop.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/IMG-20200615-WA0003.jpg I bought my white and green lined socks too, with my white trainers, I can't wait to take pictures 🤪🤗 I'm going with two bottles, one for hot water and the other for cold water. I don't know the state of the weather over there, so I had better get prepared. I'm going with a waist pouch as well, this is where I'll keep my phones, camera as well as my money. I'd not want to be robbed in camp(we would have different people with different agenda in camp), so it's best if I safely prepare myself ahead. Here's my hand sanitizer and toothpaste, detmold soap and antiseptic. I'm readily prepared to fight germs as well. Here's my lovely Alpenliebe sweet, it will be very handy in camp. I'll have what to munch on before eating. My earpiece as well is useful, I'll rock my jamz with it when bored, I love much. My power bank too, I need my phone battery full, so I prepare ahead. Of course, this is a picture of some of my nose masks, I need to be protected. Safety first. On getting to camp this morning, I went through a lot of stress trying to sign into the hostel. Series of checkpoints, we started with the checking of documents After the covid-19 test Then the clearance of loads Then, clearance to get a platoon number After which I proceeded to my platoon for clearance Then I went for the bank opening. We have to open a new account designated by Nysc, where the government can't pay our allowances monthly. After which I went for the collected of my camp wears. We call it 7/7. It contains a Khaki and trouser, a white crested vest, a face cap, a belt, two white tops, two white shorts, and two pair of socks. I got all, though I had to take my khaki and trousers for amendments as it is very big for a slim sized me. I'll attach pictures 📷 tomorrow. I'm too tired to do that now. I need to rest. All pictures were taken by me, at the orientation camp Lagos 30/7/21. Love you all. NB: Reading and commenting on articles will be very tough for me in the coming days, whenever I come online I'll try the little I can do. There'd be light out by 10pm.

When Silence is Golden **Being silent** can be just as great as the words you really mean to say, like when it is more comforting to hugging someone who just had a heartbreak or who just lost a special thing or person than to just say, "Sorry for your loss." Another time when we can say silence is golden is when you are not sure of what you want to say. If you are not sure of your own feelings concerning a particular matter, it's better to **stay silent** until you are more sure of the matter because there's more harm in revealing a false or an exaggerated feelings. Choose to be **silent** instead of pushing out your feelings that are hurtful out in a rush, those feelings might not really portray how you feel about the matter. When you feel so eager to say something unkind, take a deep breathe first and think of all the possible consequences the words you speak might evoke. Another time when we should rather stay **silent** is when someone is sharing a story that has meaning with us. Let the friend or person telling you the story feel ‘heard’ by nodding **silently** and you should maintain eye contact. **Silence** can be the best friend you could have when settling matters. Say your mind, then close your mouth after, let the other person also come to their own conclusions, don't be the only one doing the talking. Your **silence** will show that you are so confident and sure of what you just said, and that you respect and honour the other person enough to hear what they have to say. Sometimes , it is best to be **silent** and it might be the most timely solution one could ever give because the other person is not in a position to hear what you have to say. For example, when a friend needs you to listen to his/her problems, but such person is unable to accept your advice at that moment you gave the advice. Learn to be **silent** in your working place, when you don’t have anything that is of benefit to contribute in meetings or during projects. Unless you can boost the conversation by raising an important point or saying something that is interesting, something missing, or something beneficial, it is better to just keep observing and learning. Finally on silence, **silence** is golden when you don’t want to interfere in foolish arguments. As some disagrements will never be resolved, one must agree to disagree. Visit my sponsors articles. You'll like it. When are we to Speak up Loud and Clear: There will definitely be times in your life when you will need the power of your voice. You will need to open up your mind and **speak up** what's in your mind. The voice within you will want and need to be heard, respected and praised. Ensure that you use your voice properly and **speak up** whenever your feelings are being trampled upon. Many things are beyond our control, and it is within our power to control the words and feelings that we pass across to others around us. Make your feelings understood clearly and let people know that you value your personal well-being. **Speak up** for other people who have no voice or who are unable to speak for themselves due to one reason or the other. Your voice may be the only saving grace that will protect such people from harm. **Speak up** when you see evil perpetrators doing wrong because silence could be seen as you agreeing complicitly. We can view **speaking up** as the truest act of mankind, and since as far as we know, we are the only animals who can speak up. **Speak up** whenever you are asked of your own opinion, as whoever asks the question will value it well. Finally on speaking up, **speak up** whenever you want to be heard. Whether in your working place or whether in your relationship, if you believe you have something valuable to say, don’t be scared to open your mouth and speak. The ability to **speak up** takes a very high level of confidence, but just like all skills, someone only needs to keep practicing in order to get better. The major focus is just for us to know when to be silent and when to speak up. Grateful Heart 27/7/21 How many times has God done us well and we refuse to give thanks? How many times has He saved us from death or harm and we still refuse to give thanks? Many would say; What has he done for me? I asked for money, He didn't give me. I asked for good health, He denied me. Why should I praise God? I'm not where I ought to be. My mates are ahead of me I put it to us that we must keep praising God no matter the circumstance we find ourselves in. Reflect on this and appreciate Him today. He alone deserves our praises. For me, I worry that God why would I be posted to a far distance when my dream was to stay close to home. But in it I found peace. Because God is my stay. And He has gone there before me to make every crooked places strait. Check out articles from my sponsors. You'll be glad you did. Gratitude is actually a weapon we can use in fighting our battles. We want full testimony and result, we should be grateful. It's just like the story of the 10 lepers in the bible, they came to Jesus in order to be healed from their leprosy. Instead, Jesus told them to go show themselves to the priests as Moses laid it down. The 10 of them did what they were told. They were healed. Immediately after they got their healing, one of them thought about the one who has done it for him, he remembered Jesus. That he wouldn't have been healed if not for Him. He went back to Jesus with a grateful heart. Jesus was touched by this act, he blessed Him and pronounced that He is made whole totally. He received full healing. How about you? Do you see sleeping and waking up, miracle enough to appreciate your maker. Do you appreciate Him for things he has done? Do you praise Him for things He has not done? Do you still praise Hom for the things He will do? Cory Ausbory wrote in his song 🎵🗣🗣🗣 "***1. Before I spoke a word, You were singing over me*** ***You have been so, so good to me*** ***Before I took a breath, You breathed Your life in me*** ***You have been so, so kind to me*** ***Chorus: Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God*** ***Oh, it chases me down, fights 'til I'm found, leaves the ninety-nine*** ***I couldn't earn it, and I don't deserve it, still, You give Yourself away*** ***Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God, yeah*** ***2. When I was Your foe, still Your love fought for me*** ***You have been so, so good to me*** ***When I felt no worth, You paid it all for me*** ***You have been so, so kind to me"*** Check out the lyrics of the song above, are you grateful? His love continuously fights for us. He has been there for us from the beginning of time. **Gratitude alone gives God Glory.**  A great reason to give thanks to God is because it glorifies Him. Showing how grateful we are gives glory to God as we are not exhalting what we received alone as gifts from Him, but we are appreciating the Giver. Being grateful helps us realize all that we have did not come because of us, but from God. Don't forget to appreciate Him today, praise Him and see if He won't open doors you least expected for you. Instead of complaining, give thanks. You can just take a few minutes to say "daddy I'm grateful 🙏" In the mood of giving thanks. I'm grateful I got a random visit by rusty @TheRandomRewarder after my 34th article an being on this platform for over a month. I was able to stand this time through your support. Yes, I mean you. Am I Disappointed, I don't think so. 24/7/21 I was confused as to what title to give my post for today but just decided to use this. For the past three days, I haven't written an article for the past four days, this is as a result of so many things that surrounds me, I just didn't feel like writing my own article. I only read, upvote and comment on people's article. **My National Youth Service Corps took a new turn** I often hear that; *"when you go through difficult experiences it could be the makings of the strongest and most resilient relationships one could ever have"* Disappointment sometimes can be a very tricky emotion to deal with because every day might decide to bring about a new situation which one would be disappointed over. Okay so, I've been planning for my service for a while now. I graduated from the University since 2019 and was supposed to go for the one year mandatory service by 2020, but the Covid-19 pandemic altered my going. It was postponed till this year 2021. Around March we were called for service but I couldn't register because I applied for Nysc internship at Flutterwave, one of the leading Fintech companies. Almost all my friends went with the batch, but since I knew there would be an opportunity for me to serve in Flutterwave, I wasn't bothered. **I was Disappointed** Flutterwave disappointed me, they refused to get back to me after the interview. I sent mails which they didn't reply, until recently when I got a message from then that they were done hiring, I was so angry. If I had known I'd be Disappointed, I would have gone for the previous batch with my colleagues. Well I decided not to mind the disappointment. I went ahead to register, and worked on being posted to Lagos, a state in Nigeria known for its wide range of job opportunities. I felt this will be a compensation for the Flutterwave job I missed. Well, just as I said above my expectations were once again taunted. I was posted to the south. I do not know anyone here and I do not even see my self serving there. So painful 💔😢😫 I was asked to resume on 30th of this month(July) Still Skeptical about going though. **Sometimes disappointments might come very rapidly** Sometimes disappointments might be very huge and could be life changing. *"When you get bad news, take a moment to let it sink in," says* *Tina Gilbertson**, LPC, DCC, psychotherapist and author of* *Constructive Wallowing: How to Beat Bad Feelings by Letting Yourself Have Them* http://www.tinagilbertson.com/ https://www.amazon.com/Constructive-Wallowing-Feelings-Letting-Yourself/dp/193674080X/?ots=1&slotNum=0&imprToken=c6bd6c62-45f0-6307-e75&linkCode=ogi&tag=womansday_auto-append-20&ascsubtag=[artid|10070.a.57401[src|[ch|[lt| Many people will successfully work through their disappointments and get over it as fast as it came. In any way possible, they have the strength to take note of what happened to them, try as much as possible to learn from the incident, and then move on. They come out of such disappointments waxing stronger. We should learn more about how to manage our disappointments effectively I decided that life is good. It is a very daring adventure and should be taken one day at a time. Relax, do not trouble yourself worrying and wallowing in self pity after being disappointed. **Move on, there's still a way out.** As regards my NYSC posting, I'm still pushing my buttons, hoping there's something I can do about the state I'm posted to. But if it still doesn't work, then all road leads to the south. **I'll gist you.** Check out articles from my amazing sponsors. You'll be glad you did. Appreciation to my new sponsors, @Princessbusayo and @Loveleng18 **I don't understand the ip-address issue well enough.** Please I don't know if anyone knows about this ip-address issue, we want to tell more people about BCH and most importantly readcash and noisecash, if the site recognizes ip-address, does that mean I can't invite anyone from within my area to join the community? **I'm confused.**

I Respect Everyone Irrespective of where we come from 20/7/21 One thing I've learnt in life is that relationship matters. How people view you or how they address you depends on how you present yourself to them. And I have a mantra I so much believe in, what goes round will surely come around. Respect is reciprocal they say, wherever you go or wherever you are, let people know you as a good person. Well I'm not saying you should love everyone . But you need to **Respect everyone** irrespective of who they are or what they do. No matter where we are all from, country, tribe, language or what have you. One love bounds us together. **Do not judge a book by its cover.** The content of the book should be what spices you up. You need to stop spreading rumours(by rumour I mean wrong info) about a person. Try to be a giver of love. Keep spreading love and light. You need to stop gossiping about people in their absence, we have lots of people that would pretend to love you in your presence but work against you behind you. If you are annoyed at what someone does to you, then tell them straight forward or if you don't like them just let them know instead of pretending to love them. Yeah, I also know that it's not possible to achieve this feat of being open in one day or through out our lives but we can still give it a trial because it's worth it . And we seriously need to learn that we really don't know what other people are going through and our actions might put them off. I think it is very important to learn to have *empathy* for everybody, or for at least as many people as we can. I can love my friends, my family, my partner, those I know, and those that I don't. I can admire the people I respect, but may not actually know. Some people might disgust me, some may annoy me, others may even fill me with rage. But I still have to have empathy for them all. Probably I go to a supermarket for shopping and the person working at the cash register was rude to me. I didn’t do anything to warrant rudeness, but I have no idea what such person is going through. Maybe they just lost a member of their family. Maybe they were just asked to work an additional shift without any break. Lots of things could have been wrong with such person and I’m not going to do any more thing to make their life's more miserable. I’m just going to leave them to their anger with a smile. When you kill them with kindness, it reminds them that there are many good things in life. Hate and apathy are weights and burdens I choose not to carry. I don’t want to be surrounded by negativity, I need to surround myself with positive things. I forgive people when they hurt me because I don’t want to have grudges with anyone or hold on to anger, because I decide to put whatever anyone have done to wrong me behind me. That doesn’t mean I keep those people in my life if they don't deserveto be, I just forgive and forget. Permit me to give a shoutout to all I've met on this community, I've not met them in person, but you all have earned my respect. I don't know if I'll keep going on this platform if you all had not accepted me with joy, even though we've never met. @tired_momma ,@HappyBoy, @jane, @Princessbusayo (get well quick), @FarmGirl, @fantagira , @Bloghound, @Fexonice1, @Gaftek , @JonicaBradley, @Macronald , @adereign , @bmjc98 , @zellypearl, @Cineholic (fellow teacher), @CoquiCoin , @phabulu , @Zhyne06, @JLoberiza , @Mayzee, @Willtravis, @Davinchysax, @Evbyoung, @King_Gozie and many more I might have not remembered to tag. I love you all. Thanks for accepting me.

Should I call myself Lazy or an Enthusiast 19/7/21 I woke up this morning not feeling highly spirited because I know I have to go to work. I've realised that the end of the month is always moving 🐌🐌🐌slowly. And I get tired of going to work. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 This month in particular because my mind is in camp for NYSC and I'm trying not to be fed up of the students excesses. As I have said in previous articles, I'm awaiting my National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and my mind is already off work. I'm seeing my self at the orientation camp already. For those that might not know, The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), is an organization set up by the Nigerian government, it started in 1973 and it was set up to ensure that Nigerian students give a mandatory one-year service to the Nation upon graduation. Check out nice articles from my sponsors. You will enjoy it for sure. However, while these individuals are preparing for serving the country, there's a mandatory three week orientation, in which students all over the country get to camp in various designated places all over the country. I'm anticipating this three weeks, so I think my laziness is a part. I've been reading on how to cope with the three weeks “orientation” period spent in a military-controlled boot “camp” away from ones family and friends. And I've been able to gather the following; **Join the OBS** The Orientation Broadcasting Service (OBS) is a great way to serve while in the camp. It is a very important unit of the camp, it will offer you opportunities to not only develop your skills editorially and your media skills, you will get to know the key officers that you need to know in the camp. I think I'll be more present in this unit. **Run a small business** There's also an avenue for you to make money while at the orientation camp. You can decide to offer services such as hair dressing or laundry to others in the camp who need them for a fee(as we have lots of people who are in camp to show off and wouldn't mind spending their all). It is a great way to hone your business skills before you are launched into the labour market. **Do an online course** The orientation period does have also have to be all activities and socializing only, you can further develop yourself on the side by registering and going through a short online course during your stay in camp. The good thing about online learning is that it is flexible so you can actually plan it around the time that you will be leaving the camp. **Socialize and actually meet new people** The NYSC scheme was originally established to encourage. I'm ready to mingle, to know people and to be known. The time table for this batch has been released and by 24th-26th of this month I will know which state I'm posted to, where I'll be observing my 1year mandatory service. I can't wait. In my next article I'll talk about my preparation and the things I've gotten in preparation for this camp. Disclaimer: The above article is based on what I gathered. I'm an Enthusiast. Can't wait for the service to begin. It's slated for 27th of this month. Get ready to be fed with my camp stories. Mr Romantic 18/7/21 Yes, he is romantic Or what else should I tag him as? By him I meant my Baby. I awoke this morning reminiscing what happened yesterday morning, I was still on my bed enjoying my morning sleep when I received a call. Fumbling with the phone, I brought it to my ear without looking at the caller. Hmmmh? I said then I heard a distant tapping on my door. It was still so early and I was still enjoying my morning rest. Who would be calling me so early in the morning? I said to the phone, standing up to open the door. It's me, the voice replied from the phone. Is there an emergency? I asked grabbing my robe, I tucked the phone under my chin and struggled to get my hands into the sleeves then hurry out to open the door to my room. No, I'm very sorry to disturb you, he said taking a deep breath, with a hint of regret in his apology. I didn't mean to scare you at all Then I asked him what he wants. Just get dressed, he said Why?, I asked. I unlocked the door as quickly as possible. Just do as I say, he said Is everything alright, how's mum and how are your siblings? I asked They are all fine, he said, disconnecting his phone and putting it in his pocket. Nothing’s wrong, we are going on a picnic Picnic? I let my mouth drop. Disconnected my own phone and tied my belt tightly. I had list of things to take care of, but I was entitled to another one or two hours of sleep on a Saturday morning. As long as here was no emergency I planned on going back to bed. Are you serious? As serious as I could ever be, he said. A huge yawn from me, I said I still need some rest, it's not morning yet. Thats exactly the point. We have to leave right about now. I'll give you five minutes to get dressed. What makes you think I'm going with you? You are going to turn down a chance to spend the day with his handsome giy? He boasted. But... Do you want to go in your nighties? He said with a challenging gaze. I might find that interesting though. Don't be silly, I said turning away from the door. Four and a half minutes, he said. I'll wait for you in the car,if you're not down by then, I'm coming back fir you, dressed or not. `Check out nice articles from my sponsors` I rushed into my room, dressed up and ran out to the car(he came with an uber). I actually spent 7 minutes. I narrowed my eyes when I got to the car,do you really want me to come along? I came to get you didn't I? He handed me a big bag, there's food in the bag. I investigated the bag that lays on the seat between us. A warm aroma made me twitch. Is this breakfast or lunch? Both, I'm afraid. I have to return back home by noon. How come you have a Saturday morning free? I asked, knowing he was a very busy person and his business takes basically most of his time. I got a lucky break, he said. I remained silent. He drive down a tree-lined private road unknown to me. The uber man brought the car to an halt beside a tree. A big house that looks like a lodge was ahead of us. Whose place is this? Peter's. They are out for the weekend. The Peter's are popular for being the area palm oil producer. It's their family business. He got out, coming around to open my door. And we sat down to enjoy the sumptuous meal. Let me stop my experience here. The other things we did/enjoyed are for me alone... Friend Like no Other who can find In life we have people of various backgrounds, behaviour, mentality and all. Putting too much trust in anyone could lead to you being heartbroken and hurt. God can be trusted and relied on Waking up this morning, the thought on my head was centred on my roommate while I was in school. We started out fine and very cool, then it got to a point we fell apart. She's the kind of friend that would keep her foodstuffs while we eat mine and when mine finishes she starts measuring hers before bringing it out. Same as her money, she keeps saying she has nothing that her parents did not send anything to her. Immediately I get my pocket money I'll give her a share of mine for her to hold to. This continued until, she told me a friend of hers will be staying over with us for a while before she gets her own place. I agreed and the friend came. First thing I noticed was that the friend also came without foodstuffs. Based on my course of study(Mathematics), I'd have left home so early, and also retun late. By the time I return they would have cooked, eaten and even washed the pot. They would tell me they haven't eaten since they got back from school. As tired as I was I would start cooking or sometimes I'd eat out. Then, I got back from school and I met them fighting, I mean my then roommate and the said friend. I asked then what was wrong but they both said nothing. As usual I cooked, ate, read for a while and slept. The following weekend, my roommate left early for a church program and I was left with her friend. The friend then started lamenting that she had known that my roommate is a person like this,she wouldn't have agreed to come stay with us. She told me that when she was about moving in to our place my roommate told her not to worry about bringing foodstuffs but she should come along with money which she did. She gave her the money when she came but got to realize that my roommate locked her own foodstuffs in a bag and they have been eating mine. I smiled and told her I knew and there was nothing wrong in it. She said everything is wrong and I shouldn't take it lightly with her. I Immediately knew that this girl is out to cause commotion amidst us. But as human I started withdrawing from my roommate, I wasn't really free with her as usual, what her friend told me was always ringing on my mind. Then one day she went out and I searched her things and saw the locked bag. I've always seen the bag but have never opened it. This particular day I took the key and opened it, lo and behold I was shocked to my wildest esteem because the bag was full of beverages. I wept because everything my beverage finishes, we would both go out to get more, and she never for once told me had any. I also got to know she had over 1000thousand in her account, and I still share my little pocket money with her. I withdrew from her totally, I packed my foodstuffs out of the room. I took them to a coursemates place and only bring the quantity I want to cook home daily. We fell off, we stopped talking, we only said hi to ourselves when we wake up. Because she wasn't happy I packed the foodstuffs and she didn't know I've seen hers where she kept it. Well, her friend left our place after a while, since they couldn't settle their dispute(a long story too) After the friend left, we were both at home one day and I decided to discuss with her because I didn't want us to keep holding grudges. I asked why she kept her foodstuffs hidden while we ate mine, as I was always of the thought that she doesn't have. She replied that she was saving it for when we wouldn't have anything at all. I was shocked because sometimes when I lament or call my parents that I do not have foodstuffs, she still didn't tell me she has anything. Well, I graduated before her and left her in the house, she stopped talking to me, but every once in a while I chat her up to check how she's faring. But our relationship hasn't been that cordial as before. This brings me to the realisation that there's only one friend one could have that would stay true to you. And that is Jesus. He's a true friend. And would stay by you no matter what. If you think you can get joy from a person, you lie. I pick friends wisely now because I've learnt.

Yes I Can!!! **15/7/21** **The Power of Yes** YES is one of the most common words in the English language. Most English-speaking countries use this word either knowingly and unknowingly. A simple YES can change the cause of your day, and the entirety of your life. Generally, YES is a word that is used to give a positive reply and the word implies that you have agreed to a question or anything you are being asked by a person YES is the opposite of the word, NO. Therefore, you can understand valuable or important the word YES is in your life. Listed below are some important points that lets you know how important and valuable the word, YES is: **It Opens the Door to Opportunities** If you are ever presented with a very wonderful opportunity and you are not sure if you can do it, say YES, because if you say NO, you might lost the opportunity forever. If you say YES, you can learn how to do the task even as you go and then ensure the opportunity is not wasted. **It Overcomes Every Fear of Failure** YES, has its own magic within it because it makes people to overcome any iota of fear they might have. Fear of Failure is very common today in people. We fear failure often for no reason, it is nothing short of a guess. So, we end up saying NO to many opportunities that might come our way. When you say YES to challenges and face your fearful moments, you can overcome every fear of failure. **It Generates Curiosity in Us** YES has the ability to generate curiosity in people regardless of the kind of job you do or your personal life. Curiosity is good because it helps us to learn new things and also determine to take risks in our lives. Anything that creates a spark of curiosity within us or causes us to desire some things that naturally lays foundation to acquiring new knowledge and the chances is that often our instinct always leads us to say YES. **It Improves Your Personality**  YES has the ability to improve your overall personality. People always love and appreciate people who are positively minded and say YES to them even if they are facing some challenges and difficult situations in their life's. People generally dislike those who are negative and would always say NO to them under any circumstances. However, some situations will come up in your life and you will be required to say NO rather than YES, all you need to do is to stay firm jn your believe. Regardless of what you do in life, whether you are a parent, a teacher, a doctor, a religious priest, a business owner, a politician, YES can change the cause of your life and improve your personality totally. **It Builds People's Character** Saying YES when life brings challenges builds ones character. When you refuse to say WHY ME? Instead you say YES -TRY ME You will never fear challenges again and you will be better and fully prepared to not only face them, but to DEFEAT them as well. Remember that when we say YES, people believe more in us, more doors will be opened for us, we get more chances to develop ourselves, and we live more enthusiastically. The magical words, “YES I CAN” ( YIC), in my opinion, is very crucial and vital, as a first initial step towards any positive thought or action. We can actually experience the unique power and wonder of these words especially during times when we feel very low, when nothing at all is going right for us. Saying to Ourselves ‘YES I CAN’ with a strong belief and determination can actually infuse a sudden current of zeal, alacrity, energy and cheerfulness in us. A rush of positive thoughts and energy can drive away all the negativity we were drowned in even minutes back in just a magic second, and this will encourage us to suddenly spring up from our hopeless and passive being into an entirely new high feeling person full of enthusiasm, dynamism, creativity and optimism. In fact, it is worthy of note that the world’s greatest thinkers, leaders, scientists, adventurers, sportspersons, spiritualists, artistes, writers, researchers, inventors etc. would most certainly have started by truly believing “YES I CAN” initially to increase their confidence level, self belief and the determination they have in all their endeavours, which would have ultimately helped them to achieve the highest pinnacles of success, glory, satisfaction and recognition which they finall achieved. Also in epics, for instance, from Gita we know how Arjuna, who was initially timid and with no confidence at all in the battlefield became totally transformed after Lord Krishna gave him a soul stirring advice, from initially carrying a negative feeling of guilt and reluctance, to totally transforming himself into someone who firmly believes “YES I CAN” to go ahead and fight boldly in the battlefield, which he did. We have ups and downs in our daily lives too almost everyday. Whether we experience success at times or get weighed down by repeated failures, the three magical words, ‘YES I CAN ’ should instantly sprout up in our minds so that we can progress from better to becoming the best, from our present despair we can improve to fresh new hope and purposeful action. Maybe we can also consider the technique of looking at ourselves in the mirror daily and repeating the impact filled words, “YES I CAN.”  As we keep doing this, we would actually feel a real and new drive of positive energy which will emerge within us. What seemed impossible even yesterday, now seems quite possible, easy and within our reach. This self motivation, devised by some experts could also be very helpful for students, marketing professionals, sales persons, researchers, sportsmen, mountaineers and all people who face challenges at every step while striving to attain their ultimate goals in life. We should also remember that some physically challenged individuals have successfully peaked even the mighty Mt. Everest. Some visually challenged artistes have become famous musicians and singers which we know today. Physically challenged sportsmen have also become Olympic champions, too. All these great individuals at every stage of their lifes made efforts towards achieving these glorious heights, and would no doubt have told themselves constantly, "YES I CAN" which has helped them to keep moving ahead with confidence forward and with zero negativity and 100 per cent positive approach. We also know about some miracle cases which happened in the medical line where someone who is terminally ill, even totally paralysed or deep coma patients have recovered fully from their hopelessly miserable conditions to gradual, perfect normalcy. YES, good medical treatments would have helped them a lot but such miraculous escapes from the risks of total disability or death could only have happened if such patients had felt strong determination, to fight death boldly and live, with a deep felt “YES I CAN ” attitude. **ON a Final Note** I would like to say that whether we are genuinely eager to turn our failures into successes or whether we feel a burning desire to climb rapidly to reach the highest peaks of success, achievement and satisfaction, we should fully ensure that our minds are always kept firmly positioned to constantly think and act in the incredibly powerful “YES I CAN” mode. **YES I CAN!!!** **YES YOU CAN!!!** And each one of us indeed can, if only we would strongly believe, decide, think and act, while we always remember to keep repeating the three magical words “YES I CAN” come what may. I Don't Take Nonsense Okay, I've been very busy for the past few days. I work in a school while I await my National Youth Service Corps(NYSC), the school started as a tutorial centre before they started secondary school. So, for the reason above, the school has more male teachers, than female. In short we have only 2 females, myself inclusive. The discipline level of students is zero, and I try as much as possible to do the best I could. We started our 3rd term examination on Monday and I had to supervise and monitor them as they write it. We have students that don't care about the outcome of their results, the female are more concerned about their outlooks than their performances while the male are more concerned about cyber crimes than their academics. Since the school has a tutorial, it's saddening to see teachers dating the students. The students wear clothes that are very revealing and even go as far as seducing the male teachers. What do we do with this? What is the world turning to? Back to my story; Examination has started and I have to ensure that they comport themselves, that they do not have any room to copy or bring in any chip. I've caught and brought many students to book. I ensured that the management dealt with them. We started the paper on Monday and about 10 students have been caught in malpractice. It has been so difficult being the only one opposing all the bad acts of the students. The other teachers decided to ignore(some because of the relationship they have with the student, some because they are tired of complaining already. Sometimes, I feel its better I ignore them as the other teachers are doing. Should I overlook their errors? Should I allow them cheat in the examination hall and pretend I didn't see it? Should I ignore them completely? All these has been my concern, very soon I'll be leaving the school for my NYSC as I have registered with this batch. What will they say about me when I'm gone? Would they say my excesses are too much? Already, the students do not like the way I discipline or correct their wrong doings. How do we handle attitudes students give. Inasmuch as we want to correct them in love, how do we manage and discipline them at the same time?
