In my tribe, there is a prayer we do say, "ma nje dabi ejo to koja lori apata ti ko nipa" (meaning "don't let me be like a snake that passed through a rock and doesn't leave an impact").
This is always a prayer of someone who doesn't want to labor in vain. Why are we striving hard in this life? Why are we saving for the future? Why do we give birth and trained them in the right way? Why do you pray always? Why do we study hard in school? Why do you????? These are all efforts we have been through, those rough and tough moments, those sleepless nights, those endurance, perseverance, consistency etc
What do you think would happen if you didn't get to be successful after all of these?
As a student, you don't want to carry over any course, you want to scale through and have a better grade. What do you do? Is it not by staying up late and reading with no sleep most times and at the end of the day, you got good grades. You had distinction. You have eaten the fruit of your labor which is the grade you got.
As a mother, you got pregnant, carried the pregnancy for months. Many times, you couldn't sleep because of some pain, you eventually went into labor and gave birth perhaps one or twins. You still continue struggling to train them, send them to school. You couldn't afford a big school but they still studied. They became educated and start working. You are free because they are sending money to you weekly or monthly. You are already eating the fruit of your labor.
As a farmer, you got a land, started planting your crops and the likes. You wait for the rain, you struggled to make your business yield and at the end, you eat the fruit of your labor.
All of these are as a result of your hard work, patience, endurance etc. You never gave up because you know they will be successful at the end.
What of those who didn't wait to eat the fruit of their labor? What of that student who went through all the stress at school, wake up everytime to read and study hard for exams. He or she graduated and on that beautiful day, he or she was shot dead. What would be the fate of the parent?
I have heard a story of two children in the same University who were shot dead during a robbery incidence. The parent couldn't believe what happened, with the shock, the mother died immediately. Two Children on the same day? Wasted effort 😔
There are so many incidence that we have seen or heard and we keep pitying those in such situations.
A friend of my younger sister who they both graduated together in 2019 and in December, the guy slept and didn't wake up. The parent didn't eat the fruit of their labor over the son.
May we not be attacked on the day of our jubilation. This is a strong and powerful prayer that we need to keep praying because it is a bad thing to work all your life and at the end, nothing to show for it especially as a parent, seeing your children dying while you are still alive.
An incidence happened in my Aunt's area last year. The couple have been looking for the fruit of the womb. The woman has always been pregnant and on the day of labor, the babies died. Not once or twice. Then when she got pregnant again, she gave birth to twins but she died without seeing her Children. Where was the fruit of the labor?
Are you a writer here? We all are on this platform and many of us would stay awake to be engaging and posting quality content. At the end of the month, we smile seeing our wallet dancing and swaying around us with that much figure of BCH. Wouldn't you be happy that this is the fruit of your labor? Of course I will be so happy because my efforts paid at last.
Let me stop here and remember that nothing goes successfully without prayer. We need to always talk to God to keep securing and protecting our lives so we wouldn't make those efforts in vain. I pray we all shall eat and enjoy the fruit of our labor. Amen.

it's hard sometimes and really painful to see hear someone at their peak go down just like that and not eat the fruits of their labor.it's even more painful when they are young.
