How Can We Overcome Low Self -Esteem?

We must first understand where low self -esteem comes from. It can be from childhood experiences that have been traumatic, critical, or frustrating. Divorce, discrimination, and sexual or physical abuse will all leave a lasting impact on us in our adult years if we don’t get the help we need. Many of us never have the opportunity to develop self-confidence through the right learning experiences.

Here are some tips to boost and increase your self-esteem.

Kindness. Look others in the eye and smile, say a kind word, or do a small act of kindness. “Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself” (Matthew 22:39).

Gratitude. Stop in the middle of the stressful time of day and count your blessings. Gratitude has a powerful influence on our feelings of happiness.

Eat right and exercise. Knowing that you are taking care of your health can give you a sense of management. And exercise can give you a surge in endorphins that make you feel great.

Take care of your appearance. You need to be neat and clean. Clean your hair regularly, keep your clothes dry, brush your teeth regularly, and be sure to smile. Personal cleansing can make you feel great about yourself.

Sleep properly. Prepare to end the day by doing something relaxing — reading a book, reading your scriptures, or writing in your journal. Sleep well you think, know that tomorrow will be another day, another new beginning.

Give yourself praise. Do the thing you’veg you’ve been procrastinating on, and when you’re done, give yourself praise for your work. You can do something as simple as finishing a book you’ve always wanted to read or fixing the sink.

Storage in your area. At home and at work, get things in order. You’ll be surprised at how wonderful it feels to have everything set up.

Make a list of your strengths and talents. Maybe you can ask for help from your close friends and family. Include additional personality qualities — including accomplishments and things you are good at. Now put the list where you can see it every morning. And before you leave home that day, get on your knees and express gratitude for everything on that list.

Be Positive Thinking. Remember that you are a child of God. He did not put you here to fail. You’re not perfect, but you’re heading in the right direction. Believe in yourself. Know that whatever comes, you can face it with the help of the Lord.
