Where's Hope?
There are two stories that happened lately. Both bothered and saddened me.
There is that side of humanity where desperation makes us pick up certain things that causes harm to people. If not, to ourselves. "Harm" would put it lightly as sometimes the chosen weapon is one that ends life.
And as I write, a lot of other past scenarios come flying through my memory and reminds me these two weren't the only ones that are happening. They just happen to make it to the news.
Let me repeat that,
They just happened to make it to the news;
Some other things of equal horrendous effect do not.
One news was that of a former police officer who pulled a knife, stabbed mostly children, pulled a gun and open-fired. The scene he created did not calm him down instead he shot at bystanders on his way home. When he got home, he killed his family and then himself. This happened in Thailand.

The second news I happened to stumble on while scrolling through instagram the other night. I was fighting off sleep but I do remember taking a shot of the news just in case I remember when I wake up. And I did remember just now.
Let me try to pull up the news link here.
It had a real attention-seeking video headline with : Bank Robbers Stealing Their Own Cash.
I never thought of it as being a big news. I thought it was some rubbish content which is rampant in reels nowadays, but still, admittedly, entertaining still. It was only at the end of the clip did I realize that the story behind was out of desperation to save a loved ones' life who is critical in the hospital.
Apparently, Lebanon banks these days are in a crisis and are not allowing depositors to withdraw money over a certain amount. An amount which is not enough to take care of a procedure/continuous care for the robbers' loved ones in the hospital. They did not care if they hurt other people.
It is heartbreaking. Some would say government's at fault, others would say other country's at fault.
But we can swing our bats in dire attempt to hit whose fault it is but clearly on our own human ability we are obviously not entirely in control.
Pushed to a spot where hope is fading, we lose the will to fight the evil within.
Whether people implode or explode we see the pain and harm it causes.
While the decaying world is obviously on point in doing the devil's agenda,
"A thief comes only to steal and to kill and to destroy...."
Christ's agenda is also still at work...
" I have come so that they may have life and have it in abundance. "
And this abundance He is willing to give includes hope even in this chaotic world.
We may have a lunchbox full of positive thoughts and hopeful outcome but unless we open our eyes and reach out to the One who is giving this abundance one might find himself lost in the middle of the chaos.
There is hope...
In Christ, there is a lot of it...
How is your heart, lately?
Hmmm....

I've also stumbled on that news about Thailand. My heart really broke seeing the dead bodies of those innocent children.
