Happy with Happiness You know you are watching or have watched a good film when even after it is done, you still feel like the real here and now is part of that movie. One of those days that I was looking for anything to watch in Netflix, I landed with "Happiness". I was intrigued that one with harmless and seemingly light title can be about zombies. I further got intrigued when the genre flashing on the top left said, "violence", "substance", and "suicide". How could that be "happy"? Yeah? So I proceeded to watch it. Five episodes down and I am super hooked. I told my friend it was one of those series that I would be losing track of time with. I can watch it straight at night and not realize it is already morning. Yeah that happens when I am hooked. It was an illness outbreak post-COVID scenario causing people to turn into zombies hungry for human blood. I think the fact that they set the story after the controversial world-wide pandemic and playing on that also global fear that vaccinated people may turn into zombies made it catch attentions. What made the people turn into zombies is another point of intrigue I think. They turn into zombies when: they take the certain med that was meant and failed for pneumonia but seemed to help takers with their attention, stress, etcetera. They get infected via a bite from the zombie They got scratched and that progressed the virus to their system hitting the brain. One symptom of getting the infection is that unquenchable thirst. The thirst that can only be stopped if they drink human blood. Drinking water would only make them even more thirsty. So that one has an effect on me. I caught myself one time staring at a mug of water on the table in front of me. I had to condition myself that no I am not infected because it is just a story. That made me laugh that I had to check on myself for real. It also got me checking on people around me if they are infected! Then I had to shake myself off that thoughts. There was a scene where they were checking if any else among them is infected via letting everyone see and smell blood. Seems like teasing and testing if anyone will turn into a zombie by some characters cutting themselves (really not suitable for kids) and going around the room in front of each one to show the blood. That lures out the zombie in anyone because they are thirsty for blood. So while that scene is playing I am also checking myself if I would turn into a zombie. I meant via staring at the dripping blood on that scene. Not real blood. So it is kind of mental for me to be doing that looking back. I stare at the blood dripping, feel for my pulse and heart if it gets excited at the thought and size of fresh blood. Then I laugh at myself because I am not infected but I AM AFFECTED. That one is gold the : AFFECT. I think I have had the same engrossed effect with one of the Transformers movies. I imagined all cars I'm driving along the highway will anytime become a robot. Even cars that were parked. And another when I watched "The Purge". I had that feeling that at some point that events in the movie CAN happen in real life. So am I happy with Happiness? Yes I am. It has a family, love, aspect in it and they incorporated that in the cure aside from the antibody. Once infected, you seem to have more will power to hold your thirst for blood in if you are thinking of a loved one or protecting a loved one or family. Seems a good take there. We sometimes think better, fight more, make better decisions when we think of our loved ones. it took me back to one remarkable conversation. I had one serious conversation with my brother a long time ago. We were talking about what made you "not do" what you wanted to do when you were "rebelling"? My brother's answer was he thought of our parents - the pain he might cause them. That made him "careful" during his dark days. The reason to stay sane. The reason to keep on. The reason to not give in. But that of course can also lead to the weirdest decision-making ever . But thats for another topic. For now, I am happy with how Happiness turned out. *What have you watched lately that has an affect on you making you think the scenarios may be possible and may also be happening already?* © Pichi28 | #ClubBrokeBCH All Original Content Unless specified otherwise...
