Where Do People Go When They Die?
It's another Sunday, people. How was today over there? We woke up to cloudy weather today. Since we were going to church, we hurriedly took our bath and ventured into the street so that the rain wouldn't get us wet. To that, we were lucky enough.
As soon as we went out to the street, we got an Uber that took us to the church. By now, the cloud was growing thicker and the storm had started to rage. The only thing that kept ringing in my heart was to know if I remembered to lock the windows to my room.
My heart skipped several times but I still did not remember. I just had to let go of all the thoughts. We had a glorious service after which we decided to visit one of our members whose husband died last year in June.
We drove safely to their home. She wasn't expecting but she welcomed us with a great heart. Her heart was filled with joy.
Before we knew it, started narrating to us now life had been since she lost her husband last year.
In her words I felt that she was still in pain. She even accused one of the men that went with us that she had been holding a grudge against.
You saw my message on WhatsApp but you couldn't reply?
The man only just opened his mouth ajar, looking like he was lost. He didn't seem to understand what she was saying.
At first, I thought it was something that happened before the death of her husband but I was wrong. She opened up the can of worms and said:
The message was about prayer points when my late husband was having his last moment on the sickbed. I thought I was sending the message to the Pastor, I never knew it was you.
She said pointing to the man still looked astonished.
Mummy, I thought you were only sending a general message so that we could join you in praying for him.
Now, it looked like she was bittered. Of course, no one would ever be happy to lose a loved one. The message is clear enough. We all had to appeal to her to let it go.
It was at this juncture that she said to us that some people who had come visiting her like we did told her they had dreams about her late husband and they told her that he is in a better place.
Where Do Dead People Go?
Grave of course. Or do you have another clue to where dead people go after they have died.
The question may seem technical but the truth remains that people have given different answers.
To rightfully answer this question, one of my friend @abigailharry said:
Only the dead know where they are after death.
This means one may not be able to answer this question except one passes away.
I have equally learnt about different other perspectives of what happens to people when they die.
Heaven School of Thought
This is a group of people who believe that when someone does, he or she would inherit heaven, the home of God, if he had a good stay on earth.
To be qualified to live in heaven, one would have to live righteously. He must be diligent, upright, and keep to all that God has commanded in His Holy book.
This school of thought also believes that man is not an ordinary creature like other animals. They believe that man has three components. The body, soul and spirit.
The soul comes directly from the creator and at death, the soul goes back to the creator to give an account of how the soul had lived during its period on earth.
Also, the thought here is that heaven is not for everyone. It is the time of those who have acknowledged God during their stay on earth.
Live Once School of Thought
Here, the belief is that when one does, it has ended. Life is only lived once.
This school of thought holds the idea that one should live life to the fullest.
Hence, one should take the moment and have as much fun as possible.
This is what we have around today. Most people just want to live and be happy as much as they can.

There's also the reincarnation school of thought where it is believed that our souls keep getting recycled whenever we die. I choose to stick with the heaven school of thought because it just suits my view about life but truly, one can't be so sure cos every once in a while, we see evidences that support all the schools of thoughts regarding death.
