Rise Up

Thirty-two years old Martin was born with weak bones in his legs. From his infancy, he had struggled with the use of his legs but his parents stopped worrying when the doctors confirmed that he won't be able to walk on his legs for his entire lifetime. 

As the first child, he was pampered so very well that he got everything he wanted except that his father refused to buy him a bicycle when he celebrated his twelve birthday. It was a tough day because Martin refused all other gifts because of the failure of his father to buy him a bike. 

You can't have a bike son because your legs can't reach the pedals. 

Martin accepted partially. He wasn't totally agreeing with his father when a friend of his rode his bike to his supposed birthday party. 

Daddy, let me try In David's bike if my legs would not reach the pedals. 

Reluctantly, his father accepted that he tried on David's bike if his legs would reach the pedals. When he enthalpy mounted the bike, Martin discovered that bi's legs couldn't reach the pedals. It was a sad day for him. 

He lived with this deformity until he turned thirty-two. 

Meanwhile, his younger sister Anastasia who was born fourteen years after Martin had grown to become a music minister. She could sing and bring the angels down. 

She started at the school choir where she functioned as back up singer to Maureen who led the school choristers to a state championship and came out tops.

Anastasia first had a confrontation with her father over her choice to become a music minister. Her mother loved music but also did consent to her only daughter going into music as a full time career. 

After four years of studying History and Diplomacy at the university, she still continued with her first love, music.

During her third year at the university, the Christian fellowship organised a revival crusade for the outgoing students and Anastasia was invited as the guest minister. It was her first major invitation. It was a glorious event as many congregants cried at the level of outpouring during her administration. This marked the first breakthrough for her. 

For Martin, everyone had given up on his ability to ever walk on two legs. 

Despite his situation, he was a determined young man. He trained as a medical doctor and had a passion for seeing to it that people live in a comfortable state of health. 

On his thirty seconds birthday, Anastasia had thought of what gift to give to her only brother. She thought that nothing was worth singing during the celebration.

At the moment, Martin had a girlfriend who had stood by him despite his inability to walk. Funmi wouldn't mind what anyone thinks of his affair with the medical doctor who could not walk with his legs.

Her friends have abused her by being blinded by love. 

Anastasia and Funmi had agreed to make it a surprise parlour birthday for Martin. So, as he was returning from work, turning the door knob, the lights came on suddenly as Anastasia started singing. She sang so powerfully and passionately, just then, Martin began to feel his legs sweating. 

He had never felt like this before. In fact, he hardly feels anything on his legs but today was different. Anastasia continued to sing and everyone started to dance. As Martin joined the dance, he felt the sweat the more, he started standing on his legs. 

Everyone started noticing that something was happening to him. Suddenly, his legs were standing erect. There was screaming in the whole house. 

Funmi who was in the kitchen dishing the food for guests ran to the living to see what it is that caused the loud outcry. Her eyes first blinked, then she moved closer and saw what had occurred. She just knelt there crying, holding the foot of Martin. 

It was the miracle of the century. The shock was on everyone for a very long time. Anastasia continued her ministry in music and many more supernatural healings took place. 

Martin got married to Funmi, the only lady who stood by him when the tide was tough.
