*Her flight bound for Manila will be in the next three hours. She has mixed emotions about the whole thing. It was for the best, she told herself. Upon arrival, another flight with an hour and a half to her hometown in Davao. The flight was exhausting although she found peace of mind but not her heart.
Nine months Later:
Her parents were with her throughout the labor and when they announced she delivered a bouncing baby boy, her heart was content.
Laurice couldn't ask anything anymore. Her life is complete. She has to focus on her baby now and will start life anew, free from the past.
As to how she will explain to her baby about his dad, it would remain unseen.
In the meantime, she needed the necessary rest for her battle in the next three months. Lol, the doctor just told her it would be a handful since he came out on normal delivery with almost 4kg.
On day five at the hospital, they were discharged. Laurice could not contain her joy as soon as her baby slept peacefully in her arms. She put him in his crib and was teary-eyed. Everything seemed so perfect except that his dad was not aware that he's even a father.
"Honey, you need to be strong for your baby okay. He needs you more than anything. And you need to take care of yourself too. Your dad and I won't be around in a couple of days as we needed to take out of town workshops but your nana Fely will be with you. We love you."
"I understand mom, dad, thank you. I will be okay, as soon as nana Fely will be around. I love you both."
Her parents stayed for a while and headed home. She decided to move out from their roof as she felt she needed more privacy especially now that she has a baby. She has taken 6months of maternity leave from work and her boss was just so understanding to have given her the prerogative.
Her first three months with her baby Trent Wilhelm was full of sleepless nights and painful breastfeeding session. Good thing her nana Fely was always there for her moral and physical support. Apart from her parents who visited almost every day and teased if, they could borrow Trent at least on a weekend.
She was so exhausted that night and she forgot that Stacey wanted to do facetime.
They're talking online and her friend excitedly announced she's getting married.
"Oh, my best wishes Stace. I am so happy for you. Who would have thought, Duncan would have the guts to finally proposed eh?" she's teasing her.
"You bet Laurice when I told him, it's now or never. Haha I was planning to do a shotgun wedding if he's still so slow. Yay, everything is just so perfect, anyway, you know you are my maid of honor, so be ready."
she winked.
"Of course, how can I say no. I am always ready for your big day my dear. We are sisters by heart." she heard Trent cried and they decided to end their conversation.
It was nearly Christmas and Trent is growing so fast, started babbling. She barely has one more month to go before she could go back to work and she would be away from her baby. She tried to fix his playpen when she heard the doorbell rung. Maybe Nana Fely was at the back and she didn't hear so she took Trent with her to see who's outside.
She almost FAINTED at the sight of him.
They were both stunned looking at Trent.
"Why are you here Tommy? How did you trace my place?
she was aghast.
"Why Laurice? Why did you keep my baby from me?"
he looked so hurt yet happy to see his baby.
"Even if we would do DNA test as you would try to deny him from me, I know he is my son. You were a VIRGIN when we had that passionate night, and based on my professional source, you never had anyone. So either you would let me in or we could talk at the hotel where I was staying."
he spoke with authority again.
Nana Fely hurriedly walked through them and apologize she didn't hear the doorbell rung, she looked confused and realized it was Tommy. She knew him from Laurice's story and decided to give both of them privacy.
Trent on the other hand babbling and handed Tommy his favourite toy car.
"dada broom broom?" looked at him giggling.
He's a bit teary-eyed at how his son must have missed him, the feeling was mutual. Laurice was so scared for this scenario to happen in an unexpected moment. Surely they have a LOT of talking to do but in the meantime she has no other choice but to let Tommy in.
Breastfeeding session and she's not comfortable at how he gazed at her and their baby. Darn this man, she's blushing.
