I'm new here (as in just finished signing up) so I'm still figuring things out. I wanted to test out making a post and just say hi.
@Paganprincess in September 2020
I suffer from migraines pretty regularly and I've had one all day. Luckily this one seems to be turning into a regular headache, for now at least. Does anyone have any tips on things to help get rid of them fast? I have tried magnesium (Doctor suggested it) coffee, ice packs, sleep, hot showers, pain killers, ect. Any suggestions are welcome. Also, I track what I eat and drink and there don't seem to be any trigger foods. Doctors put it down to 'stress'.
Time is a Thief *I wrote this around a year after a friend passed away* He sat by the earthen mound and gently placed his rose on top of it. 'He's really gone. How?' His eyes were wide and lost as he looked at her pleadingly hoping for an answer that would make some sense out of the pain he had been feeling since he got the news nearly a week prior. He had yet to be able to cry over the loss but he could feel it sneaking up and knew that soon, it would likely consume him…
My daughter gets really bad nosebleeds and yes, I have taken her to the doctor. He has said several times that there is 'nothing to worry about'. Sometimes they do scare me though, not going to lie. I always try to keep calm for her because my freaking out won't help. Today I kept us both calm by telling really cheesy dad jokes ie: Did you hear about the man who invented the knock knock joke? He won the no-bell prize!' Sure, they were horrible (but somehow so bad they were…
Peanut butter cup smoothie Hi guys, just wanted to share a smoothie recipe I honestly love making. You can always replace the peanut butter with another nut butter of your choice if need be. Peanut butter cup smoothie 😍 1 banana (cut up and frozen) 2 tbsp Peanut butter 1 and a half tsp cocoa powder Half a cup of water/ milk Ice to desired thickness It's a pretty straight forward recipe. Just take all the ingredients and pop them in your blender/magic bullet ect. It makes for…
Hi guys, I'm sitting on my couch with my laptop and my coffee. It's a bit of a slow start to the day I'm afraid. So far I've only managed to get the dishes done and not much else. I just wanted to post a quick little update and say i hope everyone has a great day.
I'm having some writers block so I guess I'm hoping this will help. I tried looking back at my work and noticed I seem to gravitate towards darker topics. Depression, loss, that sort of thing. Now that I think about it, I guess that makes sense given what I've struggled with. Side note: my phone is going off with text messages every two seconds and is really driving me nuts. Anyway, it made me wonder if other people favor certain topics for writing as well. The whole reason…
The Cemetery She weaved through the grass attempting to dodge the grave markers. Once upon a time there was a path here, now it's been all but swallowed, reclaimed by nature. Most of these graves were here long before she was born. This place is no longer maintained, but forsaken in exchange for a newer and much nicer cemetery on the other side of town. A cold wind bit at her skin and the bare trees rattled like old bones above her head. She shivered though whether it was…
I have to admit while a lot of people were going crazy while everything was locked down, I found it was good for my mental health. It allowed me to take time away from others without people calling me anti social. Sometimes being around others is just exhausting. It was nice to not have to listen to people say 'suck it up' 'get over it' or 'it's all in your head'.
Darkness always breaks You know the thoughts. The ones you try to push away. The ones you drown out with loud music, false laughter, or maybe something worse. The ones that never fully go away. They lie in wait. Sometimes, you'll feel fine and they hit you again out of nowhere. You're not good enough. That's why they don't care. You're useless. Hopeless. You're not worth their time. Everyone gets these dark thoughts. I get them a lot. I'll be going about my day when suddenly…
If there's one thing experience has taught me it's that I will always be second best. Even that's being generous really. That was once again proven to me tonight when we visited a friend. I always got along with this friends mother but tonight, she seemed to want nothing to do with me. Considering they were hosting other guests as well, I tried not to take it personally. It became clear though that I was simply not good enough. She spoke to everyone else just fine but not…
The Girl with the Red Ribbon I wanted to be like Addie. Everyone loved her. Including me. It was hard not to. She was kind, funny, sweet and smart but it made me sad to know I would always be second best. Next to her, nobody really paid much attention to me. I didn't have to be second though, did I? Wasn't I making the choice to stand one step behind her? The truth is, I think I was a little afraid of people actually noticing me. I never felt comfortable in my own skin.…
They think they know me It's funny how people can presume to know you. To know what you're feeling. I've lost count of the number of times someone has told me that I'm mad at someone when I'm not. Or when they tell me what I think about a person. I wonder, how do they come to their conclusions? What makes them think they know me better than I know myself? How can they be so sure of something without so much as asking me? Why is it people feel the need to speak for me when I…
Here it is, one thirty in the morning and yet instead of sleeping I'm sitting on the couch typing this. Tired as I am, my mind and body don't seem to want to cooperate with allowing me to sleep. It's a struggle I've been dealing with for months now. Insomnia is not something I would wish on anyone. Even when I try to go to bed early and just lie there as some have suggested it doesn't help. Tired and bored, my mind still won't let me rest for hours.
Nothing gives him that right Yesterday my daughter put out some garbage for me. Not long after, I heard the landlord yelling but stayed out of it as I assumed he was likely talking to his child and didn't want to interfere. A while later my daughter came in and I discovered that he had in fact been yelling at her. She had accidentally put a plastic container in the organics bin. I understand that it didn't belong there and it's an annoyance but yelling at an 8 year old…
Any help would be appreciated. I have only cashed out once and I am still new here so I have to ask this. I went to try and cash out and went to look up my wallet address. The cash out last time was successful. This time though, the address showing was NOT mine. I double checked. I did not cash out yet because of this. I was also not able to erase this new address and type my actual one in. Has this happened to anyone else? I can't really understand this being normal but as…
Killer Decor Victorians, whether elite or not were obsessed with what was 'in'. Having the latest fashions, gadgets or in this case home decor was almost essential for many to appear better in the eyes of their peers. Many times this could be deadly. Victorians were obsessed with color and many favored greens, blues or vibrant yellows for their wallpaper. These pigments were achieved by mixing arsenic to enhance the colors. At the time, it was widely know that arsenic was a…
Why I write I like probably most people, used to write in a diary. It was supposed to be a safe place for me to deal with and express my thoughts. Sadly, that's not how it worked. There's a classic trope about concerned parents violating their childs privacy by reading their journals or diaries. Though now more often it's texts and social media messages. Unfortunately my privacy was also violated (though not by a biological parent). I came home one day to find my diary…
How long has it been? I have no concept of time. Weeks? Months? Years? I don't know anymore. Everything stays the same here. The sun rises. The sun sets. Nothing changes. There's something about this place. This house, time doesn't touch it. Doesn't touch me. I don't change. I don't grow older. I can't die. I look out at the world. Everything outside this house is different. Why can't I change? Why can't I leave? *Just a short little blurb I wrote. I'm hoping to turn it into…
It's around this time of year that I really get excited. I love Halloween and always have. The past few years, we have not really been able to afford to do much. This year, I'm hoping we'll have a bit of money to spend. I have to be selective about the type of things I buy though. When I buy something, I tend to keep it up and use it as regular home décor. Yes, I am one of those people. My style tends to be on the darker more 'gothic' side. I use quotations because I'm not…
Deadmans Island An island in the UK has earned the name Deadmans Island for a terrifyingly morbid reason. The island is solely inhabited by the dead. As a registered bird nesting site humans are not permitted to visit nor live on the island which has led it to be virtually untouched by modern society for almost 200 years. They have allowed only one BBC crew onto the island and what they found was chilling and unforgettable. Thanks to rising sea levels and erosion human…
The Abused We live in fear that history will repeat itself. The past haunts us constantly. It reminds us to watch where we step. What we do, and what we say. It reminds us not to breathe too loudly or too deeply. We fear being noticed. To be noticed is a death sentence. As long as no one sees us or hears us, Nobody will hurt us. We can't be hit, if no one knows we're there.
Something Different I recently read a post by @**wakeupkitty** It reminded me that it's okay to show my emotions so I'm going to do that now. A few months ago, my husband and I experienced the loss of a particular pet. He was technically my husbands but even he acknowledged that we had a special bond. I love every pet in our home and animals in general but our pet rat Silas was different. Silas took to me very well which for some reason is not out of the norm for me. Most…
Halloween Plans With the pandemic going on, my family has had to change our plans for Halloween. My husband and I were (for the first time in years) going to go to a party on October 30th. Obviously we have decided against this given the circumstances. My daughter was like most kids, excited to go Trick or Treating but that will also not be happening other than a quick trip to her grandmothers and a close family friend. Halloween is her favorite holiday so it's no surprise…
A Bumpy Road Today was my daughters first day of online school. For such a huge change, she did very well and I made sur to tell her at the end of her day how proud I was of her for handling it so well. She was supposed to start last week but the Saturday before she was supposed to start, an email from the school board informed me that they 'needed more time.' Normally I try to be very understanding but the situation with her schooling honestly sent me to my limit. In…
No One Ever Listens Everyone said to stay away from the old cemetery. There were plenty of stories about it. About kids and even an adult or two who had disappeared over the years. None of it meant much to me. They were just stories after all, something adults told their children to keep them from stomping around on historical graves. Of course over the years the kids had started telling stories too. The most recent one about a girl named Anna. I knew Anna. I went to school…
Letter to a Former Friend I suppose the title is accurate enough, though this isn't really a letter. I know you'll never read these words, but I feel like I have to write them anyway. I've made my peace with things but I'll admit sometimes I still wonder what exactly happened. It happens at times when my mind is quiet or, as quiet as it ever is. It will wander down a path I have tried to forget and open a dusty box I wanted to keep sealed. Funny how the things you've tried…
Toxic You made public that I was a 'pig' for walking over a bag of trash that was outside my bedroom. What you failed to mention is how YOU threw that bag outside the door not two minutes before I had to leave to drop my daughter off at school. Nor did you mention how I threw it out as soon as I got back. While you sat upstairs loudly talking on the phone calling me lazy and talking about how I never did anything, I was downstairs vacuuming and cleaning the bathroom. You…
The Mirror Amy stopped in front of a window to check her reflection. She did that a lot. She knew her vanity annoyed people; they always told her she spent too much time focused on her looks. They didn't understand. Could they really blame her? With her beautiful eyes and thick wavy hair, she took pride in her beauty. Anybody else would have done the same in her position. Her friend let out a gasp and grabbed her arm excitedly dragging her from her admiration. 'We should go…
To my Grandpa You would think after all these years it would be easier. That after all this time some of the weight would have lifted. My heart still feels heavy when I remember that you're gone. It's not that I ever forget really, more some days your absence is more bearable than others. I didn't have the chance to mourn your loss with others. I mourned your loss, your absence, before you passed and then I mourned again when I heard the news. Funny, how some think you mourn…
A Kernel of Truth They say to write what you know. What they don't tell you is how vulnerable it will make you to others if you ever share your work or if, God forbid, your words are ever exposed to others without your consent. To open up your inner most thoughts to total strangers is no small feat. On the other hand, it's safer, baring your soul to total strangers than to people you know or sometimes even people you love. Online makes this especially easy I suppose. With…
