A very cold evening readers! Jeez, this cold weather not just give us the chill but also the Christmas spirit. Having said that, you can see many articles about Christmas, gift giving and such here in read.cash. One of the articles that gave me a nostalgic feeling is @eommaZel 's memories of being a "Monita". The entire time that I was reading her article, I was all smile from ear to ear because I was reminded of my memories of being a Monita as well. You can check her article by giving me a slight tap.
But before I'll start my topic, shout out to @kingofreview for renewing your sponsorship. Thank you beh! ❤
I was a freshman in highschool when I first experienced the so called "monito monita. " Monito monita is different from the normal gift giving or exchange gifts because there are themes for it. Examples are, something sweet, something soft, something weird, etc. It all depends on the themes agreed upon by people involve.
So going back to my story, 5 days before our Christmas party, our adviser organized a monito monita. She distributed a tiny paper and instructed us to write our names on it and roll it. Then she collected the rolled paper and put it in a box. Then we were called one by one to get one of the rolled paper. And the name written on it will be our monito or monita. My monito was Lloyd, the naughtiest among our class. I actually didn't want to be close to him because he always teased me. Like everyday.
So on our fist day of monito monita the theme was something soft and the amount should be 5 pesos. I was so excited to check what I got. And guess what, I got a sanitary napkin. I didn't know how to react, my classmates were laughing because I got sanitary napkin. Then on the next day the theme was something weird and the amount is 5 pesos. And I got, a box of rubber bands. Then I got a rock for something hard and sugar for something sweet. I was really annoyed because I became a laughing stock in our class because of the gifts that I received. So I told myself that whoever my monito is, he would pay for what he did to me.
So our Christmas party came, I bought a shirt that cost 100 pesos or $2 for my monito. It was color black.
Then revealing of monito monita came and it was my turn to give my gift to my monito. I picked up my gift and went to Lloyd's direction and handed him my gift while saying "Merry Christmas Monito".
He looked surprised but I ignored that. And when it was his turn to give his gift to his monito or monita, he went to my direction and handed me a medium sized box.
"So it was you! " that was the first thing that I told him. Sabay sipa sa paa nya hahaha!
When I opened the box, di lang isa ang laman. I got candies, small stuff toy, a pair of sock, a weird looking keychain, I think it was fido dido keychain and lastly, a blue tumbler. He then told me na pambawi daw sa mga kalokohan na binigay nya sa akin. 😂

That was so memorable because it was the first and the last monito monita experienced that I ever had.
