Beautiful panoramas, kilometers of walks and endless sea - something else you might not even need for a perfect active vacation.
I don’t know how you are with it, but for me, a vacation is essential without a little hiking - especially if I can also see wonderful beaches in the meantime. Now I present to you the most beautiful seaside excursions and hiking trails in Europe - enjoy the pictures!
1. Saint Lawrence Peninsula, Madeira, Portugal
The island of eternal spring is full of more beautiful hiking trails! The best, according to many, is located on the St. Lawrence Peninsula in the northeastern part of the island, where this fabulous panoramic hiking trail, which has been declared a Natura 2000 site, is 4 kilometers long. There are plenty of difficulties during the tour - including insane heights and steep slopes - but the view of more than 200 special plants and flowers, as well as the Atlantic Ocean and the northern island of Porto Santo, is sure to compensate everyone for the difficulties. You can walk around in 2.30 hours, so you can have a lot of picnics, photos and views here.
2. Es Vedra, Ibiza, Spain
At the south-western tip of Ibiza, in the immediate vicinity of the Sa Pedrera de Cala D’Hort rock formations, which begins at Es Cubells and ends at the view of Es Vedra. It is important to mention that the marked "hiking trail" takes place almost all the way along the highway, so you can even embark on the road by car! You can find the sunset panorama in the picture, the Mirador de I'lla d'Es Vedra lookout tower at the very end of the hiking trail, which is approx. It is 100 meters from the small car park at Aparacament es Vedra. There is hardly a better view of Ibiza!
3. South West Coast Path, United Kingdom
Unfortunately, no name has yet been found for the longest footpath in Angia, the 1,013 km long footpath leading from Minehead to the town of Poole near Bournemouth, under the name "South West Coastal Hiking Trail". It takes about a month to complete the entire distance - so you can meet campers on the road and halfway - but if you have a couple of free weeks on it, you might want to cut in! During the tour you can admire the panorama of the beautiful beach of Exmoore National Park, which can be seen in the picture.
4. Walk of Gods, Positano, Italy
In one of the most beautiful parts of Italy there is a 12 km long 'path of the gods', during which you can admire the beach of Salerno and the view of the island of Capri. Even so, this is an easy hike! It is definitely worthwhile to find out which direction you are going for the path, because starting from Praiano you will have to take 1000 steps if you want to get to the main route - and this is very stressful from wherever we look.
5. Samaria Gorge, Crete
The Samaria Nature Reserve in the western part of Crete abounds in beautiful panoramas! We can enter the park for 5 euros (free for 15 years) and it is open from sunrise to sunset (so you should find out the exact opening hours in advance), but if it is raining, it is not worth trying, as it is strictly forbidden to stay in the reserve. The main hiking trail of the Samaria Reserve is otherwise 18 km long: it starts at an altitude of about 1230 meters and ends at the small maritime town of Agia Roumeli. Interestingly, many say it’s the longest hiking trail nature park in all of Europe - which is why I doubt it, but we’re sure we’ll have a good time along the way !
