One of the most popular destinations in the world in January, where you don't have to be afraid of the cold and snow! Thailand has more than 4,000 kilometers of beaches, so everyone is sure to find their favorite beach. Do you already have a favorite?
1. Maya Beach, Koh Phi Phi Le
Among other things, one of Leonardo DiCaprio's films, The Beach, was shot on this beach, but this beautiful place has already appeared in several other cinemas. The beach is otherwise quite adventurous, only accessible by boat, so it is a must for adventurers - just don't forget to take your camera and snorkel set with you!
2. Chaweng, Ko Samui
If you’re tired of the solitude, head to the vibrant island of Ko Samui - including Chaweng Beach, where the nightlife is huge: you’ll find plenty of parties and nightclubs here, but no shortage of super coastal accommodation, festivals and markets! You will find it easily, because the beach is right next to Samui airport.
3. West Railay Beach, Krabi
Between the towns of Karbi and Ao Nang lies this beautiful little beach, which is typically Thai: huge limestone cliffs rise out of the turquoise waters, tiny boats await tourists on the shore. Adding to the experience is the fact that this beach can only be approached by boat - there is no highway on the high mountain peak behind it, so those who are scorched by water.
4. Mai Khao Beach, Phuket
Phuket’s longest beach, almost 11 km away, is referred to by many only as Airport Beach because, like the previous one, this beach is very close to the local airport: specifically, the planes go over the beachgoers. Since you don’t have to travel a lot, it’s a constant crowd here too, but if you visit here between November and February, you might be lucky - because of the turtle eggs.
5. Ko Ngai Island, Krabi
If you are planning a honeymoon or do not regret the money for a romantic and quiet Thai vacation, consider traveling to the small island of Ko Ngai, which can be reached by boat from almost any major town in Ko Lanta and Trag counties. Of course, the small island is not expensive either; but everything in Thailand costs a lot more than in other regions of the country - this is worth considering, as booking accommodation in advance is recommended.
6. Sunrise Beach, Koh Lipe
As its name suggests (Hat Chao Ley to the locals) here you can admire the morning sunrise in the foreground, which many say is the most beautiful in all of Thailand. By the way, the beach stretches for two kilometers, and snorkeling is quite perfect according to TripAdvisor reviews. Good to know: it’s also worth coming here during the hot months, because there’s a cold current here, which makes the weather a little windier than average.
7. Koh Lanta Lai
Koh Lanta is one of the most visited islands, but even so, the more beautiful beaches are so empty that many times the whole beach is yours. This is certainly because you can only get here from Krabi after about an hour of cruising, and most prefer to relax on the nearby shores. This beach is otherwise very popular with wealthier families because the water is extremely calm and slowly deepening, and there is no shortage of exclusive hotels in the area.
8. Bamboo Island
Here you can live all your fantasies! This small bamboo island is located north of Phi Phi and is so tiny that it can be explored in as little as 30 minutes! The bad news is that there is no hotel or apartment house here (camping is supposed to be possible) and you have to pay 200 baht for going to the island.
