7. Sherwood Island, Connecticut
Connecticut's first state park offers 238-acre public recreation overlooking Long Island Sound and Sherwood Mill. Small bodies of water separate the island from the mainland, which can be reached by paths and walks.
The beach has interesting sand patterns as the waves are separated along the watermark by red, black and white wavy lines. Each of them represents the different minerals contained in it.
An impressive range of activities, including swimming, fishing, scuba diving, field sports and a nature center. Services include baths, concessions, a first aid post and drinking fountains.
The nature center is open during the summer months and includes opportunities to explore the environment with the experience of live animals and local samples of nature. In addition, the park was chosen as a monument on September 11 in Connecticut. On a clear day, New York is held in the distance, and the park pays tribute to 149 residents of the area who died in the attack. The Westport Inn is a short drive from the park. It features a restaurant and a pool that offers good value to visitors. For more boutique opportunities, Circle Fairfield Hotel is 3.5 miles away.
8. Silver Sand State Park Beach, Milford, Connecticut
When you decide that the icy waters of the North Atlantic are too cold, head to the warm shores that lean toward Long Island Sound. The shallow waters of Silver Sands State Park are slightly off the road, providing visitors with more privacy than many other parks and private city beaches in Connecticut. The park lies next to Walnut Beach and consists of 297 acres of diverse habitats. Visitors will find dunes, a beach, a forest and salt marshes, and they all offer a variety of opportunities for exploration.
By water, Charles Island is a habitat for birds and an additional area for walking. Children may be looking for treasure, as Captain Kidd used it as a stop in the late 1700s. Just take note of the move at low tide and be sure to return to high tide so you don't end up with friends with new birds.
Swimming, picnics, trails and the waterfront provide a full day of activity. Rescuers are on duty from Wednesday to Sunday, and parking is free. This Connecticut area offers an old guard of reliable hotel names. Residence Inn Milford, Hyatt Place Milford / New Haven and Hilton Garden Inn offer good prices.
