Coastal New England is legendary. Lighthouses, dramatic vistas and tidal pools have been creating a stage for works of art for hundreds of years. Beach huts with seafood, which serve local cuisine for all tastes, are attractive in themselves. Far to the north is the rocky coastline and the dramatic cliffs of Maine. At the opposite end, the quiet and sandy beaches of Connecticut are bordered by Long Island Sound. From end to end, more than 1,000 miles of coastline pass through these five states, offering a choice that is sure to appeal to every sun visitor. Additional tourist attractions add to the interest of these best places.
Because there are so many great options in New England, it's best to start planning before the warm weather arrives. Find the perfect place for your day by the sea with our list of the best beaches in New England.
1. Singing Beach
There will always be discussions among Bay residents about their favorite place to have fun in the sun, but Singing Beach is often the highest. Located in the typical New England town of Manchester-by-the-Sea, this half-mile can be reached by public transport from Boston. The name comes from the sound that the sand makes when, under proper conditions, visitors swear that they hear it singing as it moves into the water. In any case, you will find a place surrounded by a historic bath and majestic mansions high on the rocky coast.
Amenities include public toilets, a small diner and changing rooms. During the season, rescuers watch in a designated place for swimming. The picnic is popular in the upper areas, where the trees provide shade from the sun. On weekends, parking can be a problem. Next to Gloucester is a place to get a quick start: Atlantis Oceanfront Inn overlooks the rocky waterfront from your private balcony, and spectacular ocean views are the main event at Ocean House on the bass cliffs. A beautiful pool with hot tub, fireplace and homemade cookies delights guests in this four-star location .
2. Crane Beach
One of the most beautiful beaches in the northeast, with attractive water views, is Crane Beach in Ipswich. The cold water of the north shore is affectionately called "refreshing . "If you're going to dive, there will be a beautiful clear ocean - a great place to dive.
This area is owned and maintained by the Guardians of Reserves. This organization, supported by members of the state of Massachusetts, has real estate throughout the state, forever preserving land, nature and historic sites for the public. With this in mind, tourists will be happy to know that the sun and the surf are not the only games in the city. More than five miles of paths and promenades pass through dunes and resinous pine forest as part of the Bay Trail.
The beach is also an important nesting place for pipelines, which has been recognized for its coastal bird protection program. The beach is owned by the Crane estate; visitors can also enjoy the grandeur of the mansion, gardens and the enchanting undulating lawn leading to the water.
Rescuers and security guards are on duty during the season; there is a bath, outdoor showers and picnic tables. A small kiosk sells snacks and goods. Transport is also provided for visitors with disabilities.
