6. Schonbrunn Palace, Vienna, Austria
The Habsurgs summer residence is built in Baroque style and has 1141 rooms - no wonder this building is the most important cultural, tourist and historical landmark in all of Austria. It came into the possession of the Habsburgs at the end of the 16th century, but it was not built here until 1642. Emperor Ferdinand's wife, Gozaga Eleonora, who named the palace Schonbrunn because of her beauty. The castle was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1996 and is famous not only for its particularly beautiful building, but also for the fabulously flourishing garden on the estate.
7. Palace of Versailles, Versailles, France
The former Chateau de Versailles has become a royal residence with nearly 787 hectares, a historical museum and a national palace. No wonder the Sun King’s former estate is visited by 15 million a year! The monumental building of Versailles is almost impossible to visit on a visit, so it is worth spending several days on it. The most famous parts of the castle include the museum, the mirror room, the 7 great salons of the king, the cabinets, the royal court and garden, as well as the promenades, pools and groves belonging to it. Interestingly, it was built for 50 years and has been part of the World Heritage List since 1979.
8. Alhambra, Granada, Spain
Everyone would definitely like to see this "red fortress" - which looks like a plain fortress on the outside, simply dazzling on the inside! The foundations of the Alhambra began to be laid on the small mountain peak of al-Sabika as early as 899, but it was not until the 11th century that major construction began. In 1984, it became a prominent member of the UNESCO World Heritage List, and its most famous landmark is perhaps the Lion's Palace, which still served as Muhammad V's winter royal residence. Interestingly, all the buildings were originally white, but the Andalusian sunlight changed the colors of the plasters so much that they looked almost reddish.
9. Neuschwanstein Castle, Schwangau, Germany
An international travel magazine chose this fabulous 19th-century mansion as one of its best destinations in 2019, which also inspired Walt Disney to draw Hemp Cuckoo’s mansion - but that’s not the only thing that makes Neuschwanstein so interesting. The castle, for example, was not dreamed up by an architect but by theater designer C hristian Jank , but surely no one could have built more beautiful than the beautiful landscapes of Bavaria.
10. Blenheim Castle, Blenheim, England
The beautiful Baroque mansion was built by Queen Anna of England for the success of the first Duke of Marlborough, John Churchill, in the Spanish War of Succession. Later, British Prime Minister Winston Churchill was born here, and here too he asked for the hand of his legendary love, Clementine! Currently, it is the only castle in England that is not owned by the royal family. It opened its doors to the general public in 1950.
