Many bridges in Europe contain romantic legends. Let's open the curtain of secrecy.
At first glance, the word "bridge" does not have anything to do with love, romance, or relationships. This is only at first glance. No wonder the phrase "build bridges" means "make contacts." In addition, the bridge is a symbol that unites two opposite banks, two different characters, two destinies.
I offer you a selection of the most romantic bridges in Europe. It is especially great to walk here with your soul mate!
1. The Old bridge:- Mostar , Bosnia and Herzegovina
The bridge was built during the Ottoman Empire, back in 1566. True, the bridge that can be seen today is an exact copy of it. The old bridge was destroyed in 1993, and rebuilt in 2004. The question of โfakeโ is of little concern to tourists who come from all over the world to admire the turquoise waters of the Neretva.
Local youths have an extreme tradition of jumping from a bridge into the river. The water in Neretva is cold even in summer, and the distance from the bridge to the river is about 24 meters. Crowds of tourists always gather to watch such entertainment.
2. Bridge of Sighs- Venice , Italy
Lovers from all over the world strive to walk along the Bridge of Sighs. They also call the bridge one of the most romantic places in Europe. Partly because of the romantic name, partly because of the amazing views of the canals of Venice.
The legend about how the bridge got its name is completely unromantic. Prisoners sentenced to death sighed on the bridge. It was here that the doomed took their last glimpse of the beautiful city and life itself. However, modern lovers have endowed the name with their own meaning and do not regret it at all.
3. Tower Bridge- London , UK
Tower Bridge is one of the most popular places in London. Every traveler must take a photo on the bridge! A particularly impressive sight is the opening of the bridge over the Thames.
According to one of the London traditions, one should pass the bridge in silence. Otherwise, you can get yourself in trouble. And what do lovers do if they can't coo? That's right - kissing!
4. Capellbrucke Bridge- Lucerne , Switzerland
Chapelbrucke bridge is one of the oldest wooden covered bridge in Europe. The first people walked along it back in 1365. Although the bridge was originally designed as part of a defensive structure, now the Chapelbrucke is considered one of the most romantic sights of Lucerne.
I recommend that lovers visit the bridge during sunset. You will have time to look at the swans swimming below, and when the sun sets, admire the magic illumination under the roof of the bridge.
5. Rialto Bridge- Venice , Italy
Rialto Bridge - is known as one of the symbols of Venice and it is the first bridge in the city to be built across the Grand Canal. Tourists are fascinated by the antiquity and beauty of the structure.
Among the lovers, the belief is transmitted that if a couple kiss under the bridge, sailing along the canal on a gondola, then no one and nothing can separate them. True or not, you can only experience it yourself!
