I promised to continue the second part today and here it is. Just a recap of what I mentioned yesterday - we need to be intentional about our life and measure our life by how productive we can utilize our time, understanding the seasons of life we are in and then taking charge of our finances. You can catch up with the whole article here: How To Live.
IMPACTS.
Another thing to measure our lives with is the impacts we are making. Most people would rather beat themselves up because they don't have the millions of dollars that others have forgetting that having so much money doesn't mean a person would have an impact in life. We have those who only live for themselves and we have those who live for themselves and then for others. Age is not a criterion for maturity just as being famous doesn't mean that person would positively affect society. It is not about how much you have sitting in your wallets or bank accounts but by what you do with what you have.
Someone rightfully said that riches can't be compared to wealth because being rich is determined by how much money you have with the things you can buy or owned while wealth reproduce itself and it talks about your back investment in people and in things that are capable of reproducing with or without you.
Someone once said that until you give to someone who might never be able to repay you, then you haven't truly given. We are to measure our lives by the impacts we are making rather than the billions others are stacking. Don't get me wrong, having that much is good and if you can legitimately do something to earn that much, please do and put the structures in place to achieve that but don't think because you haven't earned that much you are failing. You are not because you are to measure your life by how many people go to bed daily thankful to God for coming in contact with you.
I don't know how many people have heard about the Bill Gates story with a young boy who sells newspapers back in the day when Bill was nothing. He gave a free newspaper to Bill and that was supposed to be his gain on the newspaper for that day. Many years down the line, Bill Gates became famous and went to look for the boy. He told the boy that he wants to reward him and the boy blurted "You cannot reward me because I gave to you when you had nothing and now you want to give to me when you have everything." When Bill Gates was asked who the richest man was (when he was the richest man in the world) he simply mentioned that boy and he narrated the story of what happened.
What are you doing for yourself and what are you doing for others? Having everything without making others happy is tantamount to nothing. This is why I would forever be grateful to @MarcDeMesel for such an opportunity as this because of so many of us he is helping with such a wonderful heart as his. I lost count of how many of us go to bed thankful to God for read.cash. This is someone's dream so I ask, what is yours? What are you doing for others? From the blessings you have received from here and other places, what are you doing for others?
We are recognized by the quality of lives we have touched and we have so many people who solved problems in the world and we can't forget them today. They may be gone but forever they are etched in our hearts and story. If they failed in doing their part, how do you think you would fare? In the same way, if we fail to do our part, there would be a lot of others that would suffer as a result of our actions.
The things we do can have a spiral effect - bigger than we can think of. There were these two commercials I watched many years ago and they touched me greatly. The first one was a man who was determined to make his impact daily and he would always see this woman begging for alms. Daily, he would give her the little money as scheduled and one day, he went to her late and while approaching her, he saw a young girl in school uniform running towards this woman and they hugged. The young man didn't know when tears fell from his face because his habit of helping that woman made it possible for that girl to go to school and at that moment, he felt fulfilled.
The second one was more of a spiral effect because a young man helped an old lady with her stuff into her car boot. The old lady was happy and she also helped another person to get ice cream for his child and so on... The recipient of these good things keeps giving back to others in a different capacity. So, making an impact is not just about giving sometimes, it could be about mentoring too.
RESULTS.
There is no doubt that the end justifies the means and that's why in all we do we should try and achieve results. There is no point telling people you've been trying behind closed doors when they can't see anything to show for it. Your efforts should lead you to a result and that should be the driving force; to achieve a result that would help us to understand the process and hard work spent behind the scene.
For a farmer, you've been tilling the ground and growing the heaps, you've planted and watered but when the result comes that's when you can feel fulfilled. We need results to show for all our efforts in life. We should be determined to achieve results daily and never let a day pass without setting our targets for that day and achieve what we set our mind to achieve.
If there is a problem, solve it and if anything is broken, try and fix it and when you compare your results to others let it be to motivate you rather than for you to think you are failing. Some causes would seem little but they hold more impacts than you can think of and this brings to mind the roles of teachers. I call them shapers as I have shared with so many people who celebrated Teacher's Day a few days back.
Life is all about results because at the end of everything, what have you done with all that you have gotten? Making an impact is about results too because how do you measure impact if it wasn't about the result?
