Let's welcome the holy month of Ramadanš
As the world was celebrating the new month of April yesterday, the Muslims were also welcoming the holy month of Ramadan, which is the most blessed month in the Islamic calendar.
For those who need to know, Ramadan has start today, Saturday, April 2nd, 2022, and will be completed next month on Sunday, 1st of May 2022.
Prophet Mohammed (S.A.W) said Sins will be forgiven to those who are ready to repent, the gates of heaven will be open and the gates of Hell are closed. Any Muslim who fasts during this holy month has accomplished one of the five pillars of Islam.
What to know about Ramadan
Ramadan is the 9th month of the Islamic Lunar calendar where the Muslims are required to fast till the end of the month. A day before Ramadan or the first day of Ramadan after sighting the moon will be the day to start fasting.
The fasting begins from a break of dawn until sunset and is compulsory for every Muslim except;
A pregnant woman & a breastfeeding woman who can't endure
A sick person
A children
An old woman/man who doesn't have the strength
Someone who went on a long journey (A traveler).
This set of people are excluded from fasting and are instructed by the prophet in the holy Quran to provide for the poor fasting but have nothing to eat. This is only for those who have more money, food, and drinks they can give out without leaving their home/family hungry. But if they think they can fast with their illnesses, then they are good to go. But if they can't, they will have to provide for the poor just as I said earlier, and also they will repay their fasting when they are okay, maybe before the next Ramadan.
All Muslims, will not only abstain from foods and drinks during the holy month of Ramadan but also from sexual intercourse and bad attitude that can spoil their fasting. The Muslim must be physically and mentally stable to be able to fast just as a said earlier.
My mom is also suffering from an ulcer, so she won't be fasting this year. She will gift foods and drinks to the poor who is fasting just to be human and obey the word of God from the Holy Quran. Not that we are rich enough but my family is a little bit okay since we can eat there time a day.
In many Muslim majority countries, working hours are reduced and restaurants are also closed to honor the holy month and to reduce stress.
During the holy month of Ramadan, there are fewer sins, almost all Muslims will try to move closer to Allah (GOD), perform their Salat prayers regularly, and also obey all other rules that guide Ramadan.
At the end of Ramadan, all Muslims will celebrate Eid- al-Fitr ( Festival of breaking fast) they will now have the chance to eat and drink till the next Ramadan.
In addiction
This may sound disrespectful to you, but the truth needs to be told. Sorry I need to let you know that nobody in the world has the power to stop death. We only know the date of our birth but can't know the date of our death. No matter how powerful or how wealthy we think we are, we will all leave this world as soon as we get to our final destination.
First are those that will die before Ramadan begins. I felt the word, coz of the death of a popular Nigerian comedian in the Nollywood film industry name Kunle Mac Tokunbo popularly known as Dejo Tunfulu. His death made me realize that everyone will leave the world as soon as they reach their final destination. The comedian has made a great contribution to Yoruba's film industry but he kick the bucket yesterday morning. Innalillahi Wainnailaihi rojium ( May his soul rest in perfect peace) and many others who lost their lives yesterday before the Muslims welcome the holy months.
Second, are those that would start fasting but won't see the end of the holy month (Ramadan).
Third, are those that would see it through till the end of Ramadan but won't survive to see the next year.
While fourth are those that will see the end of this year's Ramadan and will witness many more.
To all Muslim brothers and sisters, and those that are not Muslims ( Readers, writers, and tippers ) may God keep us alive till the end of the holy month, and may we live to witness more Ramadan in good health and wealth.
