The day when ABS-CBN got shutdown (Late Publish)

7 31

When we lose a family member, it is natural to cry, grieve, wonder why something should happen. The one who crushes our souls and stings our hearts with such pain. I was like that when I watched TV and saw the death of one of my family members.

I am not alone I am sure that the closure of ABS-CBN on the night of 5 May has left thousands of Filipinos - and perhaps millions - unhappy. Many generations of Filipinos have shaped their personalities, worldviews, and lifestyles through the shows and services provided by the company, especially for those who need it most.

Unexpectedly, the shutdown of Channel 2, dzMM, and all free ABS-CBN TV and radio broadcasters, but at a time when our country is facing a COVID-19 epidemic desperate for a piece of comprehensive news, information and entertainment platform Hai, the order to silence the station's presence is nonsense.

A long "bent" If you're young in the '90s, you'll know that life is hard every Thursday, Good Friday, and Gloria Saturday without Channel 2. There are no TV shows and you will not see your favorite actors for a few days. You feel better about Lent because you can't see everything that makes you happy on television. And just like on TV, there are no people on the streets like we mourning the death of Jesus.

Lastly, the situation of television has not been so long because TV channels are open all day long. There are also cable, internet, and Netflix shows. But the COVID-19 epidemic changed the television trend by not shooting regular TV programs. We don't have the teleserye series we see on various shows, game shows, talk shows, and WhatsApp.

But that's not the surprise of COVID-19 Lent. The loss of air from Channel 2 made me feel a long, tedious, and less debilitating ordeal in our city. Allusions to martial law It is said that our generation is fortunate not to have experienced the impact of martial law implemented under the Marcos regime. In the early days of martial law, in September 1972, ABS-CBN was one that the government shut down for its bold reporting on the shortcomings, problems, and violence of the dictator and his cronies. ABS-CBN has been silent for about 14 years.

I have always believed that history repeats spontaneously.but of all the repetitions, I don't think the most disgusting part of our democratic story is back in our time. .. I suddenly realized that my payroll generation wasn't really lucky.

The situation was about the same in 1972 and 2020.

Although there was no epidemic, the situation in the country is volatile, but it faces many human rights cases of abuse, including ignoring the welfare of the poor and claiming self-destruction. Those who are interested in power.

And that's much like how Marcos and the current dictator suppressed press freedom. There is no martial law here anymore, but because we call it "advanced community quarantine," the government uses military force and strict law enforcement to do whatever it considers being "wrong."

I manage it. The people of Duterte had the opportunity to seal their mouths, shoot press freedom, and undermine society with their hands and traitors.

And again, the first victim, ABS-CBN. Martial law is not yet available, but it has happened. What if there is? . I only read the news and saw the suffering of those who died as a result of extrajudicial executions in documentaries, or those well known as "Tokang". Thousands of people have been killed, most of them so-called "fighters" or simply affected or accused.

Others have sinned, but the executioners have preceded the Scorpion people, failing to trigger a revival and even defend themselves in court. In our culture of valuing the lives of all, criminals have the right to protect their dignity at the cost of sin. But it changed during the Duterte era, not just those who fought or were influenced by NATO-Tokang.

If you ask me, it looks like ABS-CBN is on target. There are allegations against him that he has violated some rules and he should pay them by renewing their franchise. ABS-CBN is not perfect, but there are fines or penalties, or duties if it is proven to violate the laws of the country. On the other hand, this mandatory closure is not the same as not only will the owner lose income but also his employees and the industry and economy to which he belongs. ABS-CBN was in a hurry and its franchise was over before the action. Congress is right. "If Congress had approved his clarification, we would not have been able to affect this catastrophe," said Adesel Lugman. But ABS-CBA relied on the rest of his life, and with that hope, it was a surprise murder.

ABS-CBN was killed in the back yard. He fought in court, but did not receive justice. Many have become orphans.

Many cry. Parang tokhang.

New standard: without ABS-CBN The term "new standard" is now the subject of heated debate. It is said to be a system of how we will live in the new world after the pandemic. One possibility is strict adherence to laws to maintain social distancing or to prevent any activity that could spread the virus.

But in the last few days after the start of the ECQ, we have witnessed a poor distribution of aid and the application of humanitarian rights among those who are forced to break the law because they do not. there is nothing to eat or that a family must be saved in these days of poverty. Government slowness seems to be a dreadful sign of a new, more complex standard, especially for the poor.

Not only because we have lost our favorite shows and famous celebrities, but also because we have lost the bearer of news and information that helps us develop perspectives on a daily basis.

Whether we agree with the comments of their journalists or artists, the presence of ABS-CBN makes it clear that we live in a democracy. And with the new general approach, ABS-CBN suddenly disappeared from the air. When the "new society" just came into existence.

Are you familiar? A family member waits after disappearing.

ABS-CBN has a personal place in my life. And I can't help tonight about her sudden disappearance.

Honestly, I felt more like my family on ABS-CBN than my own relatives for many years.   ABS-CBN helped me shape my dream, my decision to communicate extensively in a college and become part of it when I entered public relations. Although I work now, he served as my lifelong teacher, guardian, and mentor.\

I am overwhelmed by his loss, but there is a part of my heart that believes that despite his grief and hatred, he will return. At the time of martial law, no one thought that ABS-CBN would survive. I hope he loses, even if it hurts when we lose, I hope he wins again in the open air.

And as a true family member, I never get tired of waiting again, when I hear Peter Musanga's voice on the channel ringing six notes ... “ABS-CBN. Serving Filipinos… all over the world. “Fight for a free press. But the expectation is about the action. What happened on ABS-CBN is close to other radio and TV stations.

This government is full of hatred because it can do whatever it wants. It is difficult to defend press freedom at a time when trolls and fake news are rampant, but with the closure of Channel 2, most people are certainly aware of the true state of our freedom and rights.

And as family members, loved ones, brothers and sisters, and all other "you", we must come together to live within ABS-CBN and somehow suppress freedom through our free expression.
