I feel so unfortunate now that my comments were hidden,in short, spam comments. I don't know why though. Was it because I was not that active or have not published an article for days? I may not have been able to published an article but I am commenting on articles that caught my interests.

Can You Improve Your Luck? In all phases of life, we may ask, do people make their own luck? Well, the answer to this question is positive. In other words, every person is responsible for all the things that happened in his life. **Being lucky is one of those things that can be attributed to a person's capability to decide well.** Can you improve your luck and if so, how? I believe that in many ways, we can. There are ways in improving our luck in life. **Say Yes and Go for No!** There are a lot of people talking about the importance of "saying no" to things these days. But billionaire Richard Branson prides himself in saying yes and has been quoted; *"If somebody offers you an amazing opportunity but you are not sure you can do it, say yes, then learn how to do it later."* https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Branson You must be open to opportunities and take them. Often, your luck will improve along with the number of chances you take. If there's a training class in your industry, sign up for it. If someone influential asks you to join a new group, do it. If there's a new social platform to get it on, try it. If there's an opportunity to meet someone, take it. **Say yes to the things that will put you places for "luck" to happen.** **Start to go for no.** Everyone loves the sound of the word YES... it’s so positive, so empowering. And then there’s “NO!” For most people, NO is just the opposite: negative… draining… the antithesis of yes. But what if that could change? The relationship you have with the word NO… what you think and feel when you hear it, and what you do afterward as a result... is THE single most important factor in determining the level of success you will achieve in your life. That’s why despite having a great product, service, or opportunity to offer, so many people fail to succeed in business... and in life. But it doesn't have to be that way. A simple change in attitude and perspective could transform you from someone who is slowed down by failure and rejection into someone who is actually energized by it. If it's true that your luck will improve along with the number of chances you take, sometimes you need to be the one to create those chances. That means asking, Ask if you could join a special group that could really help you. Ask if you could get a few minutes from a mentor or an expert in your group. Figure out what would be an amazing opportunity and then ask for it. The worst thing that happens is, they say no, and you're back to where you started. **Change your Unlucky Mindset** A few years ago, I had just stepped into the line at the post office a minute before they closed. I went there for a postal ID application. At that moment, a guy got in line behind me and the employee told him they were closed and not taking any more customers. To which the guy shouted, "Story of my life!" So when things go bad for that guy, he doesn't learn from it or brush it off, he declares it as his life story. And worse, he affirmed his bad luck out loud, allowing it to seep into his subconscious mind. ( And probably for the rest of us to feel sorry for him.) Avoid phrases like, "with my luck...." and then visualizing the negative scenario. That's not helpful for your mindset in any way. Our brain is powerful. There's no good reason to be giving it images of the things you don't want. Look for the things where you are lucky and be grateful. When you don't catch a break, don't play the victim. Victims don't loom for luck. They look for the stuff that's going wrong and that is a fast way to get even unluckier. **Create a ROL** I know most users here on this platform have heard ROI or Return of Investment. Then consider **ROL, Return on Luck**. It is a phrase coined by author Jim Collins in his book, "Great by Choice." He studied the role of luck in the success of companies and found that great companies didn't have any more luck than average companies but they did capitalize on both their good and bad luck. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_C._Collins *How can you create a ROL?* Capitalize on your good luck. Don't slow down or get lazy when things are good. Get creative when problems arise and keep moving forward. As Brian Tracy said, “*I've found that luck is quite predictable. If you want more luck, take more chances, Be more active, Show up more often.”* So, show up! Make connections. Build relationships. Work hard. Stay focused on the behaviors you know must happen every day and guess what? You will create ROL. And before you know it, you'll consider yourself to be lucky.

Is It Worth It To Live Alone? I can only speak from my experience, so here it goes; When I graduated high school, my Lola passed away. So I decided not to pursue college and I started working. I lived with my aunt at that time while my 2 sisters lived with my father and stepmother. I was full of resentment towards my father so I'd rather lived with my aunt than lived with them. But now and then, I visit my sisters to make sure that they were okay and gave them money. While living with my aunt, I feel like I was suffocated. So I made a big move and decided to elope with one bag in my hand and some money in my pocket. I had never lived completely on my own before so I was full of hope and excitement to live alone in a big city. This time, there are no roommates, or even family and friends close by.  I look for a job and luckily landed on a fast-food chain as a service crew. My routine was home-work and work-home. It was hard at first, I need to adjust. So to feel less alone, I got myself a pet, which I found on my way home, a kitten. It helps me tremendously. She was emotionally intuitive and she often comforts me when I'm upset by sitting on my lap and purring. We take care of each other, this helps me feel less "alone." So I guess, that's my first tip, consider getting some sort of pet before you move. One thing in living alone is you get to develop and nurture the most important relationship in your life, **the one with yourself.** This, I feel is essential to just exist on this planet, but most importantly, when you are going to be living on your own. However, if you are not in a good place with your mental and physical health, I would strongly urge you to not live alone. This is when you need to lean on the people the most. Don't force anything that feels like it will just cause you to go overboard or be way too stressed out. Live alone when you are ready and when it is safe for you. Of course, you can always call a friend or invite them over for the night, because, yes, nights can be scary living alone. Sometimes I find myself shaking and crying just to hear a loved one's voice or have someone give me a big warm hug. This of course was just my experience with anxiety and depression mixed with living alone. I'm not suggesting it will be this way for everyone, but this is why I would also suggest if you can, find a safe and friendly neighborhood. Develop good relationships with your neighbors if you can. Just smiling at someone and having a silly talk about the weather can help you feel more secure and grounded. My last tip would be to adopt if you haven't already, a good routine. This will help you more secure and stress-free. Exercise, exercise, exercise! Yes, I feel exercise is vital for everyday well-being, of course, but to also keep a strong healthy vessel so that you can handle being on your own. So overall, **YES**, I feel it is worth it to learn to live alone. But let me tell you, it's gonna be rough. No matter which way you slice it. Living on your own, especially when you didn't have the best family life growing up and you weren't given/taught productive and healthy coping skills, is going to be one hell of a ride. But I do think, it's an experience almost everyone should have at least for a year or two.  My personal opinion is that, as humans, we are generally wired to thrive when we live with others who love and care for us. I gave it my best go and I'm stronger and more resilient for it. When living alone, you just learn so much about who you are without all the noise. You learn to love and care for yourself and it strengthens your bond with not only you but the other relationships in your life as well. ***Wishing everyone who is living alone a safe 2021. Be safe and stay kind.*** - lead image source

How to stop yourself from cheating? Difficult as it may feel and be, it is not an impossible task. Stopping yourself from cheating can mean saving a lot of trouble and instability. You have to stop something that is wrong. Here are a few ways that can help you to stop cheating and stay faithful to your partner. Stop fantasizing about someone else Have you ever found yourself, thinking about being romantic with someone else besides your partner? Perhaps, you've already imagined yourself kissing a colleague once, going out on a date with a beautiful friend, or worst, fantasizing about having sex with other people. If you are currently in a relationship and you are doing this, you are bound for some trouble. **Fantasizing about others is the first step towards infidelity**, so you have to stop. Some would probably reason that having a fantasy would not hurt, as long as you are not going to make it real. That's true, but how sure are you, that you can keep yourself away from temptation? This is the same with what women always accuse their partners, of whenever they catch men checking another woman out, "you're already undressing her in your mind." It is okay to have a crush on someone else, which is normal. But keep it casual, you're only attracted to another person because she or he is good-looking, that's all. ***Always remind yourself that you belong only to your partner, and your connection with them is deeper than just good looks.*** Always imagine that your partner is watching If you are cheating on your partner, what will trouble you is your guilt and conscience. If you are feeling this way, then it is not yet too late for you to stop. Do not try to fight off your guilty feelings, let them prevail. Whenever you are tempted to do an act of infidelity, always imagine your partner being aware of it. If you find yourself wanting to go out with your other man or woman, tell yourself that your partner will be just around watching you. If you are on a phone call, imagine that she or he's on the other line, listening to your conversation. If you are chatting, tell yourself that your partner knows your entire social networking site's passwords. This will, you will be at least a little hesitant to cheat on him or her. Cheating will never bring good results to neither of you in the end, so how hard would it be for you to resist this sinful act? Avoid physical contact with others Physical contact, should be reserved only for your partner, so you might want to back off a little when it comes to hugs, a lot of hand-holding,massaging, and over-the-line gestures with others. It doesn't matter whether it is just a friendly gesture for you, or not, others might take it as something else, tempting you to cheat. It's okay to hug sometimes for support, or have someone gently giving you a pat on the back. But if you think that you are already getting touchier with other males or females, than your lover, it's time to stop. Remember the long term consequences Speaking of self-deception, Adulterers often fool themselves into thinking that this time, will ve the only time or the last time. This could be true of course, although unlikely, in any case, it is a way to rationalize and justify a "one time" dalliance. If you feel tempted, and want to avoid doing something you'll regret, keep in mind the long-term consequences of cheating, including the harm it will do to your partner, and your relationship to any children you have, or any whom may result from your adulterous liaisons, as well as to your image to yourself. Also, consider that if you give in to temptation this time, you are more likely to give in the next time. And before you know it, you've established a pattern. But if you anticipate the pattern from the beginning, and realize how bad the consequences of it will be, you'll be more likley to stop it before it starts. **Cheating is hard work**. It will syress you out a lot, and it's not even worth it. Along with the stress, your chances of ruining your image and reputation, are close to a hundred percent. Whatever you do, it won't end in your favor. Don't ever cheat, try to talk to your partner if you are begiining to feel uncomfortable with your relationship. Be transparent to him or her because if you do so, it will be easier for you to resist this sinful temptation. Avoid constant messaging and phone calls. Remember you have a partner who loves you. Avoid thinking about what it could be, and what you do not have. Control your urge to meet up for just one last time, even if it is to end. Remember it is not over until it is over. Talk to your husband or wife about what you expect from your relationship. Avoid waiting for the right moment to stop cheating. Just do it. Imagine what will be the consequences if you are found out. Concentrate on making your present relationship better. Meet long-lost friends or new ones, along with your girlfriend or boyfriend. Count your blessing and you will see that life has treated you well. Avoid criticizing and comparing your partner. Avoid comparing your situation with the movies. You are for real. Show respect towards your partner's trust and emotions. Spend more time with your partner. Do special things. Avoid being negative about your relationship or married life. Share with your partner if you are not happy about something. **What's the best way to stop cheating from destroying your relationship?** The best first step you can take to protecting your relationship from infidelity is to have a frank and honest talk with your partner, about your definitions of infidelity. Nail down exactly what both you and your partner consider cheating. You both have to agree on what kind of behavior is cheating. That way, you both know the boundaries of the relationship, so you don't inadvertently hurt your partner or vice versa. That, plus having open, honest lines of communication in your relationship, are the two best ways to prevent infidelity. When you can honestly talk about what you're dissatisfied with, as well as agree on which behaviors are acceptable, and which are not. You're much less likely to experience infidelity in any way in your relationship. **Here's how to build healthy loving relationships that really last forever.** ***Be trustworthy*** Trust is a key characteristic of a positive relationship. When asked about relationships, people identified trustworthiness as one of the most valued traits. Being trustworthy means being dependable, reliable, and honest. Most of us value relationships that are based on trust, where people are honest but also thoughtful. ***Take it slow.*** Early relationships are heavy and filled with emotions while a lot of this is difficult or impossible to control. You can mitigate your feelings by intentionally slowing down. Don't be too available. Make plans with other important people in your life and resist the urge to cancel them. Don't be too quick to become exclusive, continuing to play the field helps you balance your emotions and make a more clear-headed decision. ***Live in the moment***. If you are actively seeking a relationship, you might find yourself picturing a home and kids on the first date. Force yourself back into the present. On each date, focus on having a good time and deciding whether you would like another date. Don't try to transform yourself or your date into something unnatural. Take each moment as it comes and enjoy the process. Perhaps someone isn't destined to be the love of your life but will turn out to be a very significant friend. Maybe this person even knows someone who would be perfect for you. ***See the best in your partner and the relationship.*** Research on perception and attention shows that we see more of what we look for. So if you are looking for signs of kindness that's more likely to stand out to you. How you think about and interpret your partner's actions and mentions and words also affects how you feel and understand a situation with them which in turn, affects how you behave toward them. ***Show your appreciation.*** A sense of gratitude and appreciation has been found to be a motivating factor in couple relationships. In the sense that when a person feels appreciated for who they are and what they do, it motivates them to do positive things for their partner as well. Most people would like to be appreciated a little more often for their efforts. Appreciations can be demonstrated in a number of ways, depending on the circumstance and relationship. The simple verbal acknowledgment of "thank you" goes a long way toward a person feeling valued. Thank you for reading. This is based on me being in a relationship for 20 years and still counting! Parenting Mistakes That Ruin A Child's Growth All parents have their own unique way of bringing up their kids. They do their best to raise them, but nobody's perfect. That's why, when they look back, they all want to fix some of the mistakes they made in the past. Here are some of the things they regret, so you can avoid making mistakes. **They scolded their children too often.** Reprimanding a child for something they did wrong is totally normal. But sometimes parents go overboard and it turns into nitpicking. Some parents believe that the higher their expectations are for their children, the more successful the kids will be in the future. But it surely doesn't work this way. **Scolding a child for every little mistake can lead to behavioral problems.** Punishments for bad grades are also harmful. They can kill off the desire for learning in any child. And, of course, being too strict can have another huge downside**, a poor relationship with your child.** That's why you should only punish your kids for things that actually matter. A broken cup shouldn't be on that list. **They missed out on the most important moments in their children's lives.** Of course, every parent has a lot of commitments, and juggling all of them is no easy feat. But children desperately need parents to be there for them. Some occasions that might not seem important for an adult, really mean a lot for kids. Children need to have someone close to them at moments like these. Even if you think you have a good reason to miss your child's school play, do your best to be present. Find time to visit grandma, go to the theatre, decorate your house for the holidays. Because **your bond with your children gets stronger by creating memories together.** Otherwise, in the future, you'll feel bad about how many great moments passed you by. **They didn't play enough creative games.** Of course, simply playing creative games with your kids won't necessarily make them great artists or musicians in the future, but, hey, there's always a chance. Doing this has a lot of other advantages as well. Any kind of activity, like drawing or playing with boardgames, has a positive effect on developing their intelligence, imagination, and increasing their vocabulary. Also, if your kid is engaged in a lot of different activities, it makes it easier for you to find out what they have an interest in and what they're good at. This is important since they can show promising abilities even at a young age and develop them later. **They didn't take enough photos and videos.** Obviously, not taking photos won't have any bad impact on your kids' lives but, it's the best way to capture amazing moments that you don't want to forget. When your kids grow up and leave home, the pictures will be there to remind you what a long way they've become. Besides, looking through those pictures together with your grown-up kids lets you relive all their milestones and those beautiful memories together. That's why not using a camera often enough is one of the regrets many parents can relate to. And even though we live in a digital era, having a classic photo album can be a nice family tradition. **They didn't take their child's opinion into account.** **"You're too young to decide", Adults know better" are probably phrases you heard quite often when you were a kid.** It was irritating, right? But this kind of attitude from parents can have a serious impact on a kid's future. **If children feel like their opinion is often neglected, they may grow up to be insecure.** And it's logical if you think about it. How can you know what you want from life or set your own goals to achieve if there was always someone who made decisions for you? Of course, as a parent, you can't go along with your kid's every wish or desire. I mean, your kid really can't bring home every stray dog they meet. That's your wife's job. Really! But instead of simply refusing, explain to the child why it is a bad idea. In some other cases, you can discuss their opinion and meet them halfway. **They didn't enjoy communicating with their child.** **Communication between parents and kids is probably the most important thing in upbringing.** So if you don't put aside enough time for it, one day you'll wake up and realize that your child has grown up already and is living their own life. Of course, it is totally okay to do things around the house when your kid is playing alone. But try not to turn it into a habit. Because children need not only your physical presence but emotional involvement as well, to feel they're loved and cared about. There's no turning time back, so let yourself enjoy the moments you spend together. **They didn't educate them about money.** For some reason, some parents avoid the topic of money with their kids. Of course, these children don't believe that money grows on a tree, but they might think it just magically appears in the ATM. Without education on personal finance and responsible spending, children don't understand the real worth of money. And when they grow up, they find it hard to manage their own income. Giving your kid some pocket money will teach them how to save up and spend wisely. Besides, you can let your teen earn their own money. They can mow the lawn of a neighbor or babysit. Every time you go shopping together, tell your kids how much money they can spend this time to limit their wishes. All these tips will provide your children with opportunities to learn about things like Budgeting Saving Being more responsible **They didn't make their child happy enough.** Good memories from our childhood are a real treasure for most of us. We like to go back in our mind to that time when we were carefree, and quite often every day was filled with doing something for the first time. Every child should have a lot of new experiences and live in a healthy atmosphere. That's what makes them happy. And when kids are happy, they develop more actively, which means they'll find it easier to adapt to adult life and start new relationships in the future. So, go to an amusement park, ride ponies, and sail a boat with your kid. Try to do something exciting at least once a day together to make sure your child has as many happy moments in their life as possible. **They didn't hug their children often enough.** Hugs are not only a perfect way to show affection but also scientifically proven to be good for our health because they help protect against stress. Besides, it's simply nice to hug your own child. Unfortunately, sometimes parents don't do it as often as they should. Some of them think that being too affectionate with a child can make them less obedient. Others, especially if we talk about babies, believe that holding and hugging a baby all the time means that they'll demand it too much in the future. But the truth is, the older a child gets, the less they want to be hugged. So, **enjoy the hugs with your kids while you can.** **They weren't consistent.** **Consistency might just be one of the biggest challenges in upbringing**. For example, you usually don't let your kids eat unhealthy food. But suddenly you get too caught up with work and give them pizza for lunch. Next thing you know, they're demanding it for every meal. It may feel next-to-impossible to maintain the exact same standards for your children daily, but not trying to do so often leads to major regrets for parents. Kids get confused about what's allowed and what's not. Without clear boundaries, they probably won't behave the way you want them to, and obedience issues become inevitable. Also, don't forget that you should follow your own rules to set an example. No phone during family dinner means no phone for everyone. **They often followed someone else's advice.** There are people who just can't help but give advice, even if nobody asks for it. And sometimes young, inexperienced parents feel like it's better to listen to them. Such "**experts**" have tons of information about the way you should feed, dress, and raise your children. Of course, some of it may be useful and sensible, but never forget that **YOU are the parent**, so it's up to you to decide what's best for your kids. Also, don't let strangers scold your child for misbehaving. A child needs to feel there's always someone who will support and protect them. **So let them know they can always count on you.** So what's your favorite memories with your children? Be A Cheerful Giver I came from a not so well-off family. My late father was a mechanic while my mother was taking care of me and my two sisters. My father's income was not enough to sustain our needs. So they argue most of the time until they separate ways. My grandparents took us in while my father works to support us. I have 8 Uncles and Aunts, so just imagine how many mouths my grandparents had to feed. And all of them were studying. Why am I sharing this? My point is**, I know what it feels like to have so little in life.** So little that sometimes we only got to eat two meals in one day. But despite all of that, my grandmother never fails to share what we have with our neighbors. In my young mind, I was wondering, why did she have to do that? We hardly had enough and yet she was sharing it with others. I asked her why, and she said that our neighbor was in a much worst situation than us and that we should know better. I didn't know what she meant back then but oddly I understand her. **Be a cheerful giver** That's what I've learned from my Lola. **To give and share with utmost sincerity, not just for a show, and that not to expect anything in return.** I know that each one of us had our struggles in life but being able to share what we have is a great feeling. Being able to change someone else's perspective in life by believing in them is a great opportunity for us to change the world. Just imagine if every one of us is sharing what we have, no one will have to be starved, right? **Be a blessing to others** It doesn't have to be grandiose, or it doesn't have to be in materialistic form. Being there for someone who needs someone to believe in them, to support them is already a blessing. I have been here in read.cash for almost 6 months. I am not a good writer and also I have poor grammar. But with the help of other users who supported me and still supporting me, I have been able to improve myself. They also encourage me to keep on writing and giving me tips generously. They have been a blessing to me since day one. What Is It Like Being A Mistress? *The moment that I've found out that he is a married man, I am so in love with him that I can no longer walk away. I am not a bad person, I just fell in love - Jenny* **Mistress** is defined as a woman having an extramarital sexual relationship, especially with a married man. They are also called a homewrecker, plaque on society, bitch, slut. But have you met one? Image Source https://esme.com/single-moms/dating/five-things-you-should-know-about-being-the-mistress.amp.html **True Story** This story is about a friend who I met a long time ago. I will hide her identity by the name Jenny. Jenny is pretty and in her prime. She is a jolly person, always had a smile on her face, revealing her cute dimples on both cheeks. We were at the same age when I met her and we get along easily. She told me that he had a boyfriend who was much older than her, the guy was 27 and she was 19. His name is Anthony(not his real name). My first impression of Anthony was he's a playboy. He is a total definition of tall, dark, and handsome. No wonder my friend was so into him. Anthony was very sweet to Jenny. He brought her flowers and chocolates. They always go on dates and sometimes I am their chaperone. They would sometimes spend a night in my apartment while I am at work. That is fine with me since Jenny is a good friend of mine. They were happy and I can see that Anthony loves my friend. After spending time with Anthony, I can sense that he was hiding something. But I keep it to myself because that was all speculation and I don't want to ruin their relationship. Then one day, Jenny went to my apartment crying. She said that she's expecting. I told her not to worry because I know that Anthony would take responsibility for what he did. Then she told me a piece of very shocking news, that Anthony is a married man! I was like, what the fuck! I asked her when did she find out? She did not respond to that, all she said was... *The moment that I've found out that he is a married man, I am so in love with him that I can no longer walk away. I am not a bad person, I just fell in love.* So we asked Anthony to come over to my apartment. I let them talk first. To sort things out. Then when I get the chance to talk to him, I asked, "*Why did you do that? Have you no conscience?* He just lowers his head and said,*" I love her, and that is all I know."* I don't know what to think back then. All I wanted was to help Jenny with her pregnancy. I let Jenny stay in my apartment and Anthony visits her daily and tends to her needs. But Anthony's wife found out about his husband's affair and went to my apartment. In all fairness to his wife, she did not make a scene. They talked for an hour in the room while I was in the sala. I could hear Jenny crying. Then after an hour or two, Anthony's wife went home. Jenny and Anthony told me that they would keep the baby. And that he would support them both. But Jenny decided to let go of him and go back home. I was happy with her decision but I feel sad for Jenny. I pitied her. After Jenny went home, I got busy with my own life, and we hardly see each other. She would call me sometimes but that was it. Then I've learned that she had a miscarriage. It was saddening news for me because I promised to be her child's godmother. I guess it was destined to happen. Jenny is a good woman, That's all I could say, I am not siding her and okay with the fact that she is a mistress. But it's her decision and I know that in her heart, she doesn't want to be a mistress. **Let's be clear, there's never a good excuse for engaging in an affair with someone married. But it does happen, a lot.** I know this is a hot issue, and I realize many wives who have been the victim of a cheating husband, including myself, I was once been cheated on, may have raw wounds on this subject. I'm hoping to shed some light on a human level as to what it can actually be like to be "the mistress." **Jenny feels guilty.** Yes, believe it or not, she feels guilty and I guess many mistresses do feel guilty too. She does feel guilty when Anthony chooses to spend time with her on a weekend, which is supposed to be family time for Anthony's family. She does feel guilty when she hears other people talk about cheating husbands. She does feel guilty when we watch movies or dramas about adultery, so we end up watching Tom and Jerry. *Guilt is a permanent ghost that accompanies a mistress throughout the entire affair and afterward.* Many mistresses are unaware that their lover is married. Many men go to great lengths to hide the fact that they are married. Bottom line, unless a woman is a sociopath, she feels guilty for crossing the line just like any normal human being would. **Jenny never planned on being a mistress.** Every adult is accountable for their actions. Of that, there is no doubt. Unfortunately, sometimes circumstances and poor decisions can lead to affairs. In Jenny's case, she was already so in love with Anthony when she found out that he is married. In addition to that, she was pregnant. For her, It was too late to back out. There are indeed women out there who don't have a problem dating married men and seem to have little regret about it but generally speaking, that is not usually the case. **Jenny gets jealous.** If a woman has become a mistress and she knows that her lover is married, then most certainly she feels jealous. Jenny feels jealous every time Anthony walks out the door because she knows that he is going home to his wife. She knows that her precious Anthony has another life at his home which she will never be a part of. There's no doubt that Jenny feels envious that Anthony's relationship with his wife is not a secret to the world like hers most likely is. One thing that any **mistresses out there crave more than anything is validation that their relationship with their lover is real.** **Jenny fell in love with the wrong person**. Falling for the wrong person happens to all of us. It happens to single people in the dating world. Like Jenny told me, she is not a bad person, she just fell in love. And who am I to judge her? Most likely, a woman who is a mistress already knows she has made a huge mistake and only stays in the affair because she thinks her lover wants to be with her. **Jenny believes there's a future between them.** She would often tell me that they already had plans for their future. That they would live in a nice place together with their child. That they would stay together, no matter what. That Anthony promised her that they would have a good life. And I would just simply listen to her, but at the back of my mind, I know for a fact that it won't happen. It's fairly common for a cheating husband to tell his mistress that he is miserable in his marriage and wants to get out. This may or may not be true but whether or not he does get out of the marriage, is another thing. Jenny has already placed herself in a vulnerable position so if she is in love with Anthony, she will make excuses for him and probably suffers from deep denial. Hanging on to an affair in hopes that a man will leave his wife is something many mistresses do and if there are years that pass by, she becomes more invested in the relationship and also more comfortable within the lie. The affair becomes normal. **Being a mistress is not glamorous**. **An affair may start out as a thrilling, romantic whirlwind, but it almost always ends up being an intensely disheartening situation filled with guilt and shame.** Just to be clear again, I am not siding mistresses. These are just my observations and opinions of having a friend who was once a mistress. Thank you!

Bad School Days: My Version Have you ever bullied someone or been bullied? I guess, once in our lives we have been bullied for no particular reason at all. No matter who you are, whether you're smart or not, good-looking or not, we have been bullied at some point in our lives. In my words, bullying is a form of harassment, verbal and physical. Sometimes leading to **self-doubt, depression, and suicide** as the bullying continues. Bullies use hurtful words and actions on purpose to discourage others. Anyone can get bullied, even adults, and anyone can be a bully. In some cases, the bullies are stressed or angry and don't know how to express it. Making someone else suffer with them. In my point of view, insults are considered bullying. Even the little things hurt a lot. It's hard to understand what the bully is going through, we all just assume that they are disrespectful. When most of the time, they were hurting too. I have been bullied not once, but many times over. Let me share some with you. **True Story** I was a transferee student in third grade. From the province of Davao, we transferred to Manila because of our livelihood. For a transferee student, I was a bit loud, lively, and friendly maybe because I am so excited about being able to study in Manila. I have made a few friends, they are very nice to me. But there was one girl who always teases me and sometimes would pull my hair. I did not pay attention to her, I just let it slide thinking that she would grow tired of it. But it went on over and over again. I asked her why she's so mean to me. She said that because I am "Bisaya" and that I am ugly. That I should go back to where I came from. I cried after hearing that, in my young mind, "Am I that ugly that she would just hurt me just like that?" That went on for a while. No one would stand up for me not even my classmates. I never told that to my family and my teachers thinking that it would just get worst. **How did I overcome that?** I made sure that I excel in everything. Not to brag, but I am quite good in school. I want her to realize that not because I am "Bisaya", I have no right to be where I was at that time. And that being ugly is not a crime. And all she had is a pretty face but she has no brain. The bullying stops a year after, she was no longer my classmate because I belong to a higher section. My next story is not about bullying but a bad experience involving my teacher. It all happened when I was in my second year in high school. It was our foundation day and I was part of one of the performers for the said program. It was a fun day for us, my sisters and Aunts went to see me perform. Performers were not allowed to watch the other performers and we were told to remain backstage and wait for our turn. Then for a moment, I forgot that and went out to watch who performs. I got so excited because I can hear the cheering of the crowd, and went on to watch with other performers. Then suddenly, our teacher who was in charge of the program scolded us and told us to go back. I knew that I was wrong so I said sorry. Then I turn around but she suddenly calls my name in a loud voice asking, "What was that, Melinda?" So I told her that I was sorry. But she was accusing me of saying bad things to her. I had no idea what she was talking about. I insisted that I never said anything that could hurt her, she got mad at me. I told her that maybe she must have heard that to other students because there were other students with me as well. After that incident, she never talks to me. She was our teacher in Physical Education, and never called me for recitation as if I was never there. I talked to her about it but she said nothing to me. My grades went from 93 to 85. I feel sad because I have good scores in quizzes and exams but she gets even with me by giving me low grades. I knew for myself that I never said something that could hurt her. That went on until the school year ends. Because of that, I asked Lola if I could transfer to a different school in the next school year, and she said yes because, at that time, we were struggling financially. So from private school, I transferred to public school hoping to have a fresh start. These two experiences leave a big impact on me until now. I often question myself, "Did I do the right thing?" I mean just let it all slide and didn't do something about it. It's all in that past now, and there's nothing I can do about it. Bullying should stop Image source https://pin.it/2h4IkCI Ways to stop bullying include telling someone, not reacting or being very sensitive about it, or telling yourself that whatever they say is not true. If they shove you around and use violence on you, tell an adult because that is not okay. A way to prevent bullying is to stand up for yourself. If you see someone being bullied, don't be a bystander. Be an upstander, stand up to the bully and if they bully you, then stand up for yourself because no bully likes hard targets. They just like easy pickings. Actions you can take to stop bullying are to stand up for anyone getting bullied. Tell a grown-up because if you don't it will just get worse. Well, you also could ask the bully why they are doing this and maybe help them not bully people anymore. `I just want to acknowledge` @lucas `for inspiring me to write my version of his article that was titled "Bad school days." After reading his article, I remember all my bad experiences in school and decided to write about them. This article has been drafted for 2 days and just finish today. I HOPE YOU ALL LIKE IT!`

Filipino Traits That Would Make You Proud We **Filipinos are not perfect but despite our imperfections**, we have lots of traits that make us admirable to other nations. What makes us Filipinos great people? What kind of great people make the Philippines a great country? Hospitality This is one of the popular traits of us Filipinos. We are usually friendly and welcoming to our guests. Thanks to the Filipinos hospitality, the Philippines is one of the most favorite destinations of tourists who seek to enjoy the marvelous beauty of nature and the innate friendliness of our people. In addition, most Filipinos can understand and speak English, the universal language making it easier for tourists to connect and communicate. Adaptability and Resilience The Philippines is a tropical country by the Pacific Ocean and is a part of the Ring of Fire. So aside from experiencing monsoons and tropical storms, we also encounter many earthquakes. But despite all the calamities that the Filipinos go through, we stay resilient and persistent. We get back on our feet with or without help from the government. Not only that, Filipinos do adapt to any type of environment and mingle with any kind of people all over the world. Resourcefulness and Creativity We Filipinos are known for ingenuity. We are creative in so many ways whether it's in art, music, Sceince, technology or business. Despite lack of financial resources and poverty, many can come up with brilliant ideas. Several of us are also good in recycling trash and turned them into ingenious and useful products. Faithfulness The Filipinos are very faithful people. Whatever our religion is, we remain grounded and we don't lose hope for a better future. Faithfulness and hoprfulness keep Filipinos kind, positive, peaceful and determined to achieve goals no matter how difficult they may seem. Bayanihan ( Unity in Spirit) Many Filipinos especially those in the province are in close relationships with neighbors. Made be barangays or subdivisions, the people in the neighborhood usually know each other and bond with each other, help and protect each other. Most communities and families are even organizing lively and colorful fiestas, festivals and local events by helping hand in hand to make sure that our visitors will have a great experience. Thriftiness Thought there are Filipinos who are living beyond their means, there are also many Filipinos who are frugal to save money for important future use. We shop wisely and tend to huddle a lot. We are very conscious of prices, discounts, and quality of products we but to get the most out of our money. Filipino parents sacrifice buying for themselves just to save money to buy for their children's stuffs instead. Politeness Fikipinos are known to be courteous, Being a children, being younger at age, or just being at a lower position. We use the word "**Po and Opo**" to show respect to someone. We also do the "**Mano po**" gesture or by bringing the back of the hand of an elder to one's forehead as a sign of respect to our elders. We also use the words like **"ate" and "kuya"** **to call our elder siblings** , whille **"Tito" and "Tita" to our uncle and aunt** or to not so related elders. Furthermore, **Filipino workers often use the words "Sir" or "Ma'am" in addresing their customers to show humility and honor in serving them.** Family-Oriented Filipinos are willing to make huge sacrifices just to give the family greener pastures for the future. Most breadwinners work extraordinary hard just to earn money to support their family. Furthermore, many are even willin to work abroad just to achieve such goals. We valued our family so much that we keep it intact through the generations. We make sure to have quality time together with our families during holidays and day-offs oe even after a day's work. Sense of Humor Filipinos seemed to be able to smile despite many problems we face. Not even typhoons or other natural disasters can seem to take away the jolliness that many of us have. In spite of tragedy after tragedy, we remain positive and hopeful. Joking around to firget our problems. From comedy films and shows, we Filipinos love a good laugh and good beers to go with us. This is as far as one can see humor is evident in our culture. Discretion and Dignity Conceivably, many of our politicians lack "delikadesa" but many of our people still observe the "delikadesa," Thinking twice or thrice before making any decisions that can affect our dignity and honoir is a habit. Thanks to our honorable parents who raised us up with high moral standards. Gratefulness It is natural for us not to forget anyone who helped us whether he or she is a co Filipno or not. We have this what we call **"utang na loob"** where our gratitude extends to doing things above and beyond as a show of thanks. We even build monum ents to show our utmost respect and gratitude to our heroes and other foreign personalities who help the Filipino people. Honesty and Commitment Most of us Pinoys believes that fulfilling a promise to others means a great self-fulfilliment. Even if we end up undermining ourselves, we try our best to keep these promises. Generousity and Helpfulness Despite of being small country, we still grant aids to other nations in times of need. We even send our courageous soldiers to other countries to help in preserving world peace. Even though we have very little, we always share with those around us to help strangers or to sevre either global or local community. Every country has its differing values and stereotypes, and the Philippines is no exception. Filipinos firmly believe that their country has the best values in the world. Although they have been colonized by several countries, many core values from their ancestors remained intact and are still honored to this day. `Proud to be Pinoy!` Related article: How To Thank Someone for Their Kindness https://read.cash/@Luna09/how-to-thank-someone-for-their-kindness-c8fb9198 Photos from Pinterest

Stepmother Stigma https://youtu.be/oq9PtisO1eU What you've just seen is a viral video that has been circulating on social media these days. It is about two siblings who have been brutally beaten by their stepmother. According to the video, the stepmother punched them in the face, smashed bottles on their head, beat them with a baton in different parts of their body, and even stabbed them with a knife. Because of the dilemma they had been through, their beautiful faces were ruined. This was also featured in RTIA(Raffy Tulfo In Action), a famous television program here in the Philippines. When the father was asked if he had something to do about what happened, he denies everything and said that he wasn't aware of what's going on with his children. He said that he put his trust in his second wife to take care of his children. He also added that every time he would ask about his children, his second wife would say that they were okay and that he should not go near them because he might put the kid's health in danger. The father is a security guard and front liner who is always exposed to different kinds of people that might have Covid19. But the stepmother denies all allegations against her. She said that the kids do that to themselves because they always argue and fight. She said that she takes good care of them even though they're not hers. Who would believe that, right? She also said that his husband has not been a good husband to her and also beat her. And that she did not try to stop him from seeing his kids. That he also beat them. Now they are pointing fingers at each other as to who is the real culprit. Nevertheless, they will both be put to jail because of what they have done to the kids. **The reason why I showed you this video is that this article is about stepmothers. Are they all abusive, manipulative, and evil?** I have two stepmothers, my father's second wife and my father-in-law's second wife(stepmother-in-law, am I right with the term?). Well anyway, I met my stepmother when I was 14 years old. My stepmother had two children with her first husband, a boy, and a girl. I could not accept the fact that my father had a new family. I had so much hatred and I am full of resentment towards them. In my young mind, they took my father away from us. I was crying that time so my father hugged me and said that we will be a happy family, that I have nothing to worry about. He wanted us to get along with each other so he wanted us to live with them. But I said no because I was scared about the fact that my stepmother would be very abusive. Well, that's what they feed in my young mind. On the contrary, she is nice and very thoughtful with regards to our welfare. Although she has a kid on her own, she was never biased towards us. And her kids are also kind and treat me as their "ate". There were times that we fought, but I think it is normal for siblings to argue regardless of their status, whether pure blood or not. So somehow, I managed to open my heart to them and accept them as family. This just crossed in my mind, I think that time, I was the evil stepsister 😅because I always bully the two kids when our parent was not around. So bad of me, but that was in the past and we get along just fine now. The same goes with my stepmother " in-law". She is generous, kind, and I feel comfortable around her. She is very approachable. She also has children with his first husband but they are all nice. When I asked my husband what was she like when he was living with them before, he said that she's okay. She is strict but not that strict, she is generous and takes good care of them. I shared my story about my stepmother for you to know that not all stepmothers are evil. If I may borrow what @Jeaneth have said, ***their identity is stigmatized as abusive and evil because of the fairy tales Cinderella and Snow White. So the initial impression about them would be abusive, manipulative, and evil***. Not all are like Cinderella's stepmother or Snow White's, take my stepmothers as an example. You Can Be Alone Without Being Lonely Love is in the air since only a few days left before Valentine's day. I have seen so many memes on Facebook about being "single" now that Valentine's day is near. Most of it was being hopeful to have someone before the big day comes. **But, it is really required to be in a relationship every time Valentine's day approaches?** **February 14 is all about showering yourself with love, fun, pampering, and the very best chocolate. of course.** Valentine's day has long been known as the romantic holiday for couples but it changed in recent years to be more encompassing, to celebrate all different kinds of love. Being SINGLE on that day is not a big deal. You can spend it with your family, friends who are also single. I think it is better to have a group date or date yourself. Treat yourself, go to a salon, have your hair done. Make yourself pretty. Like any other thing, there are also PROS and CONS being single. **Pros** **No late night phone calls** - You can sleep at early, you can sleep late. Neither you will have to wait for him/her to call you at night after dinner nor you need to give him/her a call. **Privacy is well maintained** - No one except you knows your passwords of phone/email, etc. Also no more keeping your phone cleans so that he/she finds out something you wanted to keep really private. **You can party all night** without having to worry that someone would get mad at you. **You can dress whichever way you want to** without someone's consent or comment. **You don't have to tell any person in particular** every time you step out of the house. **You are abstained from those silly arguments and quarrels** happening in a realtionship. **Less feeling of jealousy** if he/she has a lot of close friends from opposite sex. **Cons** **Your friends are not always available** during such moments you feel "had there been someone whose utmost priority would have been you and he/she could devote time to you whenever you needed him/her. **Being single is sometimes frustrating when your friends talk** about the lovely romantic dinner dates, beautiful gifts they have received. SANA ALL! **No one around to make you feel responsible and appreciate/listen some thoughts which you can never have with friends.** It is great to share good or bad with someone special. When Valentine's day is approaching and your friends are superbusy planning for their dates, while you will remain to be "**taga SAna all"**, lol! And most importantly, you would definite miss those snuggles and kisses and sex. I think this sums up everything, you are welcome to add anthing if I have missed any point in comment section below. And if you still complain about being single, well let me introduce you to a woman who is probably the most "single" in the world! But she seems to enjoy it. She lives in Monowi in the US State of Nebraska. It's population? Just one. **Elsie Eiler is her town's only resident, secretary, treasurer, clerk, bartender, librarian ,and tax payer.** She's also her own Mayor, by the way. So she makes a yearly road plan to secure funding for her town's four stoplight. *"I am the Mayor, I am the town board basically, but then I don't worry about elections because there is not much competition - Elsie* So, how did she end up so single? The small farming town "Monowi" used to have about 150 residents in the 30s. But when technology takes over, most of its people left to look for jobs elsewhere. By the 80s, Monowi's population reached only 18 residents until it was down to Elsie and her husband who later passed in 2004. She has some grandchildren but they all live somewhere else. All of these sounds very lonely but somehow being away from family ironically gave her even more people because almost every single day Elsie meets new faces. From curious journalists to International tourists who drop by just to see her. Everyone hangs out at the **Monowi Tavern** that she both owns, and works for. *"There's trucks coming and salesmen coming and customers coming and some just coming to visit, have a cup of coffee. It's just sort of a meeting place, a hub and I think everybody feels welcome to come- Elsie"* And if anything big happens like a heavy snow, her newfound neighbors from 40 miles away can also come to her rescue. **What a unique story of the world's most single woman.** So, the next time you feel like you're on your own, just think about the story of Elsie. She is proof that **you can be alone without being lonely.** ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ Photo and information source: Google

Am I A Good Mother? I was inspired to write this article after seeing/reading @carisdaneym2 short posts and article which was posted last night. It was about her resentment with her mother (it is just my presumption though). After reading it, I questioned myself, ***" Am I a good mother?"*** I got pregnant at the age of 22. Most of my friends told me if I was ready to become a mommy already because, for them, I was too young to conceive. But I know in my heart that I am physically and mentally ready. We've been waiting for this for so long so I am really happy. I am a hands on mother. I personally attend to my daughter's needs. From her first bath until now that she's 18. I remember the time I was bathing her for the first time, I was trembling. I was afraid that I would make a mistake and would drown her. There were also times that I would cry if she's sick because I thought that she would die. So I could say that I know my daughter very well, even the smell of her fart, Lol! I know her well, very well that I could sense if something is wrong or something is bothering her. I know her circle of friends, by "circle of friends" what I mean is her classmates or school friends. She's with them from grade 7 until now. There was a time that I know something is bothering my daughter. She doesn't go out with her friends anymore. She's not on her phone talking to her friends which is very odd for me because she always talks to them every day. So I asked her if she has a problem in school or with her friends, she told me that I have nothing to worry about. That her friends were just busy with their life as well. So I thought maybe I was just over thinking and worrying over nothing. But every day, she seems sad, and she had new sets of friends. So I secretly send a message to her friends, asking them to spare some time for me. I wanted to talk to them regarding my daughter. I met her friends at the mall, I can sense that they were not comfortable seeing me. I asked them directly if something is wrong with my daughter, or if they knew something about it. They told me that, they were not friends with my daughter anymore because according to them my daughter was like this and like that(I won't go on the details). That she sometimes go overboard when teasing them. I know my daughter and she's not like that. So I asked them that from where did they get that nonsense talk, they told me that from their new classmates who is very eager to be part of their group. I know the girl because she had been to our house before. I got mad and told them that if they were really her friends, they would believe my daughter and not someone new to their group. I immediately went home and talk my daughter about it. We were both crying when I confronted her about it. I told her that if she only has told me everything, she won't be sad for long. She told me that she doesn't want me to worry. After that, I created a group chat and invited each one of her friends and threatened them, like literally. That if they would bully my daughter or hit her, they can never set foot to any schools in Capiz. This happened when she's grade 10. I maybe went overboard when I threatened them but I am a mother, I don't want my daughter to get hurt. I am her shield, her protector, and her guide to a better path of life. I know that I am not close to being a good mother, I have many shortcomings but I am doing my best to become one. And I also believe that **there is no bad mother, only bad circumstances.**

How to Thank Someone for Their Kindness Do you have someone to thank or someone who helped you when your in need? If yes, do you think you have paid that debt of gratitude or return the favor to them, or you think you haven't fully paid their kindness? In this article, we will talk about the debt of gratitude or 'utang na loob." ***The essence of "utang na loob" is an obligation to properly repay a person who's done one a favor.*** For example, When someone helped you get into a job you were applying for. When someone loaned you money when you were short on finances. This person served as your confidant and fortress at a time of weakness. This person did not leave you when you were going through a very difficult time. **These are examples of debt of gratitude, or "utang na loob" as we call it.** Expressing gratitude may be hard for some of us because there are times when we feel embarrassed and uncomfortable about it. This is because we feel like we are causing harm or inconvenience to them, or we can't seem to accept the fact that we are actually asking help from other people. One way or another, there comes a time in our life that we need someone's help whether financially or emotionally. So in return, we have to do something for them or return the favor. But we really can't equate or it is hard for us to tell that we have already paid back the favor that one's have given us. Because returning the favor cannot be determined by the price or token you have given them. Returning the favor or repaying a debt of gratitude is a sign not of weakness. It is not a sign that we are less valuable than other people either. It is only a way for us to show the people who have helped us how much we appreciate them. It is also a way for us to show them respect by acknowledging them and their efforts. **So what will you do to really payout the debt of gratitude?** **Keep it simple** When we say "keep it simple", do not overthink on how we can repay that debt. We have this wrong notion that for us to return the favor of kindness, we have to treat them to a nice restaurant or give them expensive gifts. **Don't overthink.** The best thing that we can do is to show them that we are sincere. Show them that we are really grateful and appreciative of their kindness. ***Sincere words are more than enough and powerful.*** **Make an effort** Making an effort to say thank you is a big YES. Especially nowadays that saying thank you to someone is just a click away. But for us to really be sincere in showing our gratitude is to make an effort, not just through text, email, or call. We have to personally tell them how grateful we are by going to their place, especially if they live far from your home. They can feel that you are really sincere. You may also try writing a letter, creating D.I.Y. gifts. The bottom line is to **make it more personal.** Not many people will do this, probably because of laziness. A lot of people just want the fast and easy way, even when it comes to saying thank you. **Give a gift** If you really want to give a token, no problem with that. I am sure the person you want to give it to will appreciate it, for as long as it comes from your heart. For example, cooking their favorite dish and personally bring it to them. I'm sure they will surely love it. Like I have said, it doesn't have to be expensive. Making it personal means you are sincere and proved that you have remembered them. **Return the favor** If someone did something nice to you, you have to return the favor by doing something nice to them. Let's not turn a blind eye to things like these. I am not generalizing but there are people who after receiving the favor, would forget everything as if nothing happened. That is not a nice thing to do to persons who have helped you. And if you will need help again, they would probably not help, that's for sure. So, always find time to ask them how they are, and ask them "How can I be of help?" Or say something like, "If you need anything, just let me know." **Pay it forward** There are times that there is someone who help us but we cannot return the favor because they already passed away. Someone who help us in school or someone who believes in you. Pay it forward means be a blessing to others. It's a great feeling that we are blessed with nice and kind people who were here for us when were in need. Now, there is no reason for us to be selfish with this kind of blessing when it comes to people who are in need. When other people like our family, friends, or even stranger, are in need, let's be a blessing in the way that other people have become a blessing to us. ***Share what you can to others, and you'll be blessed with more.*** **Think. Reflect. Apply** Ask yourself, What was it that the person you owe some debt of gratitude to did for you? Have you shown your appreciation and thanks to this person? Or did you just let the moment pass you by? How can you possibly return the favour to this person? With these, you will know what to do in order for you to pay back the debt of gratitude. No matter what method you use, either paying it forward to other people or showing them how appreciative you are, DO IT NOW. Don't wait for the moment that they will ask you to pay them back. Make an effort. Thank you for reading!

Are Mermaids Real? **As you know, the majority of our earth is covered in water. Did you know that 95% of our ocean is undiscovered? So what really could be down at the bottom of our deep blue?** I’m sure you have seen or at least heard of the movie **The Little Mermaid**. Tales of mermaids have been around for thousands of years. Men have told these **tales of beautiful and dangerous creatures who live primarily beneath the sea. So what is a mermaid?** **A mermaid is a half-human, half-fish**. The upper body consists of a human and from the hips down have scales and a fishtail. Their sighting was thought to be a bad omen, foretelling storms and rough seas. There are numerous folk tales describing mermaid's interactions with humans. Mermaids are generally described as having the **upper body of a beautiful woman with long hair, and the lower half of their body from the waist down was that of a fish**. In many of the classic descriptions, mermaids are to be found sitting on a rock just off the shore, combing their hair, singing sweetly, and admiring their beauty in a hand mirror. Their beautiful singing brings men into their clutches much like the classical sirens. Their unfortunate victims are either drowned, spirited to their world, or eaten in the depths of the sea. In some tales, mermaids are benevolent and have the ability to grant the gift of magical powers, but usually, there is a high price to pay. As well as granting wishes, there are tales of mermaids intermarrying with humans, and creating hybrid children with magical powers. **But the question is, do they really exist?** Historically, there have been tales of creatures being part fish and part human for thousands of years. There have been several, actual recorded sightings of mermaids over the last few hundred years, even into the 20th century, especially in places where the old beliefs die hard. One of the many actual recorded mermaid sightings happened in the Greenland sea on March 6, 2013. https://youtu.be/bSG3kPa-jOU Personally, I think this evidence seems true and not like any other recorded sightings that you can see on the internet. Facts About Mermaids **The first mermaid recording was found in ancient Syria, in 1000 BC.** The recording was of a woman called **Atargatis.** Atargatis was a **beautiful and powerful priestess** who fell in love with a human shepherd boy with who she had a child with. An older Atargatis then tried to commit suicide, by throwing herself into the ocean to drown, but the Gods didn't let her die. Instead, the Gods changed Atargatis into a mermaid, with the upper body of a woman, and a lower body of a fish. **In the middle ages, mermaids were used to symbolize** ****sin and seduction.**** The Medieval church used mermaids and sirens to teach Christians about sin, salvation, and promiscuity. **The term 'Mermaid" literally means "Woman of the sea"** The old English word **mer** means **of the sea** and **maid means woman**, so combining the words mer and maid results in women of the sea. **Mermaids were often considered to be bad omens.** Legend says that if mermaids were spotted by sailors at sea, it usually meant that the sailor's voyage was heading for trouble. **A mermaid's kiss is pretty magical** It is said that he who receives a mermaid's kiss will have the ability to breathe underwater. **Mermaids were clairvoyants** Aside from being temperamental creatures, mermaids also have the ability to predict the future. Being able to see the future meant that they could predict when a ship would be near, and they could go off to lure the sailors. **Chinese mythological tales talk about mrmaids as wonderful, skilled and versatile beings, whose tears become pearls.** **In 2011,i09 released an article talking about "Merphysics."** The article explains the physics behind how mermaids would experience the world, with emphasis on their senses underwater; seeing, hearing, tasting, and smelling. One cool fact is that some mermaids might not be able to see the color red. Why? Because water absorbs red wavelengths. So, for mermaids living near the top of the water, this might not be an issue, as they will have evolved to see while they jump out of the water. But for those living deep down in the water and rarely surface, they have evolved to see red. **According to "The Secret World of Mermaids" compiled by Francine Rose, there are 15 species of mermaids.** **In Spain, there is a famous legend about the "Sirenuca" from Cantabria, which is a mermaid that had once been a human.** Sirenuca's mother got fed up with her daughter not listening about keeping away from the cliff edge. In the end, the mother screamed "God grant that you become a fish", which turned her beloved daughter Sirenuca into a mermaid. Source; https://everythingmermaid.com/mermaid-facts/ https://stillunfold.com/omg/15-facts-about-mermaids-that-you-were-not-aware-about I believe that mermaids exist, there's a lot of species deep in the ocean we don't know of. If there are humans on land with feet, there can be mermaids in the ocean. Places on earth that Seems Scientifically Impossible There is a certain enjoyment in being completely confused. It's a reason some of us travel, **to baffled, to be surprised, to be shocked**. To look around at our foreign surroundings and have absolutely no idea what's going on. The weirdness that you notice while on the road comes in different guises. It can be quirks of culture, or it can be unique attractions, it can be natural, or it can be man-made. In some cases, it can be a complete mystery to even those who claim it as their own. These places are really weird. And they're definitely worth seeing for yourself. **Mount Roraima** If you want me to summarize this whole place in short, I would say a completely different world. It has everything to be called so. Besides the enormous flat-top mountain, **it has a unique ecosystem that includes various unusual species of plants and animals along with the waterfalls that are counted amongst the highest of their kinds in the world**. Moreover, the mountain is considered to be around **2 billion years old**. This beautiful landscape of Mount Roraima has also inspired movies and novels. **2009 Pixar film Up and 1912 Conan Doyle's novel The Lost World are the popular names amongst them.** Indeed one of the most mysterious spots for daring. **Ram Setu** Ram Setu or Rama's bridge is a causeway that is created across the sea connecting Pemba Island in Tamil Nadu to Minar Island in Sri Lanka. Scientific studies have determined that the Palk Strait is a natural bridge formed by limestone shoals. However, according to Hindu mythology, **it was built by Lord Rama with the help of Vanara, a monkey army.** He had to construct this bridge to reach Sri Lanka as his wife Sita was kidnapped and was imprisoned there. Surprisingly, the time of Ramayana 5000 BCE and urban dating analysis of the bridge sink properly. This causeway is vi=sible from an aerial view even to this day. The whole issue of Ram Setu is mysterious and that makes us talk about it even more. It is said that Rama's bridge was above sea level, even some historical records suggest that it was walkable until the 15th century. Even the estimated depth is around 3 to 30 feet in the area of this causeway. Even though Rama's bridge is inside the water, the ship cannot sail on it. The water here is shallow with the level of depth varying on certain points. Hence ships from India have to take another roundabout route to reach Sri Lanka. Ramayana mentions that the Setu was constructed with floating stones. Surprisingly, such floating stones are scattered across Rama swaram even to this day. **Moving Mountain** Mountains aren't supposed to move but a towering mountain of sand is doing just that. Traveling at a pace of 20 meters to 66 feet each year. It's not just the massive dunes that move either. According to Tanzania's former President Jakaya Kikwete, a handful of the mountain sand continued to move even after he transferred it to his car. Standing 10 meters, 33 feet tall by 100 meters, 33 feet wide, the crescent-shaped mountain of sand changes shape and direction every decade. It once even split in two and traveled in directions. It's believed to be a product of a volcanic eruption. The N'Goro Goro Conservation Area Authority uses beacons to track and predict the movement of the mountains. **Magnetic Hill** Whether you are an avid traveler or a hardcore writer who loves to explore new trails on a bike. Ladakh in India is the name you will be familiar with and since this tourist destination has a distinct hype amongst travelers, you must have also heard about the magnetic hills known to pull the vehicles. This magnificent hill lies on the way from Srinagar to Lai highway. Believe it or not, this small stretch of magnetic hill perfectly defines the phenomenon of gravity. To confirm the fact, you can turn off your car, and while on neutral, you will realize that your car is moving without your efforts at the speed of 12.5 miles per hour. However, there are many stories related to the magnetic hill. Some are superstitious. **Sea Splits Into Two** Kerala faced a really tough time in 2019as the city witnessed the heaviest rains which almost submerged the entire city underwater, taking the lives of thousands of people and making them homeless. After the water from the recent flood receded, something amazing happened in one of the cities of Kerala which took everyone by surprise. The locals of Punani in Kerala's Malappuram witnessed a new island-like structure surfacing along their beach. The narrow sand strip which is well over half a kilometer long has literally split the sea into two. This is indeed a natural phenomenon and everyone was surprised to see it. This has really gained a lot of attraction among the locals as well as the tourist and people actually visit here to take a long walk on the sand strip. While tourists continue to flock to catch a glimpse of it, authorities have warned that the sand strip could be washed away in the case of a high tide. Even though it was not immediately clear what was behind the formation of the unusual structure, people are still wondering how did it happen? **Blood Falls** Imagine a snowy mountain having a blood bath in between sound like something unnatural right? Well, here you have the blood-red waterfall staining the white Taylor glacier. The Blood Falls of Antarctica may have been a mystery for quite a while but is not anymore. Thanks to the researchers and glaciologists who said that **this occurrence was due to iron oxide, basically rust, which was present in the water.** The water which flows from the lake creates this red hue and making it look as if blood flowing out into the water. **Kelimutu, Indonesia** In the island of Flores in Indonesia, Mount Kelimutu is the set of three pristine lakes in the national park of the same name. These lakes are the result of volcanic eruption and all different colors, blue, turquoise, and even black. These are some of those colors in which you can expect to see these lakes. Sometimes the color even changes to white or red because of the proximity of each lake to the underlying volcano. However, the change of their hue is unpredictable. Tourists have also seen one of these lakes in dark brown color. Unbelievable, right? Floating Islands **Loktak Lake** is not the only largest freshwater lake in north-east India, it is also home to unique floating islands called **Phumdis.** These circular landmasses are made of vegetation, soil, and organic matter that have been thickened into a solid form. The islands have a spongy surface that feels like a trampoline. Like an iceberg, most of the mass of the Phumdis lies below the water surface. During the dry season when the water level drops off, the living roots of the island can reach the lake bed and absorb nutrients. Speckled across this Loktak lake the several thousand foodies and its surrounding waters are vital irrigation, drinking water, and food supplies. Thus, the lake has been referred to as the lifeline of Manipur State. Thousands of fishermen make their livelihood in the waters caching about 1,500 tons or 6.6 million pounds of fish every year. Children and illiterate adults also attend a school located on one of the floating islands. **Superstition Mountain** Some places have long been thought to be simply no good, cursed, tainted, whatever you want to call it. Out in the remote Badlands of the US State of Arizona just to the east of the Phoenix Metropolitan area lies a sun-scorched, dried up moonscape of twisted Peaks and sprawling expansive badlands called the Superstition Mountains. Legend of this place has it a man named **Jacob Waltz** discovered a giant gold mine in these mountains back in the 19th century. He took the secret location with him to his grave although there's speculation he may have told one other person on his death bed. Since then many expeditions to find the **Lost Dutchman's gold mine** have been launched but all have proven deadly. **Explorers have gone in and never come back out.** **Some Native Americans also believe that the mountains hold the entrance to hell.** **Turkmenistan Gates of Hell** **The Darvaza crater of Turkmenistan better known as the Gates of Hell** This eerie cavern in the Karakum Desert has been on fire for more than 40 years. It was discovered in 1971 by Soviet geologists when the ground beneath their drilling rigs suddenly collapsed, leaving a 230-foot wide hole. As the huge crater is filled with potentially poisonous natural gas, the decision was made to set it alight. Scientists expected it to burn itself out within a few days but it didn't. It's been more than 40 years ago and the fire is still as fierce today as it ever was. Thank you for reading! Do Guardian Angels Exist? **Do you believe in a guardian angel? If yes, why?** A guardian angel is a spiritual being believed to act as an attendant, agent, or messenger of God, conventionally represented in human form with wings and a long robe. Certain angels are sent on a specific mission by God, such as the angels Gabriel's mission to Mary. Other angels are our guardian angels that our personal protector. *Jesus himself said, "See that you despise not on these little ones; for I say to you that their angels in Heaven always see the face of My Father Who is in Heaven"(Matthew 18;19)* I grew up believing that a guardian angel exists. We were told that each one of us has a guardian angel that would protect us. That would guide us on what is right and what is wrong. I remember praying to my guardian angel before going to sleep, To my belief, it would protect me from bad dreams or nightmares. **But have you ever experienced being protected by your guardian angel?** When I was a part of a volleyball team in our town, we always practice almost every day. One time, we had a practice that lasts until the early evening. Our house was far from our practice venue so I had to commute. The traffic was heavy at that time, cars were bumper to bumper. So I was confident to cross the street. Then suddenly, someone or something whispered to my ears saying **"Back off, you are about to hit by a vehicle."** I immediately looked back as I step back to see who was that, and then suddenly a motorcycle passed through in front of me! I feel the air in my face the moment the motorcycle passed by. I was so shocked, I could not move an inch to where I am standing at that time. I came back to my senses when I heard the horns of the vehicles. When I arrived at our house, I was still trembling. I told everything to my grandmother about what had happened. She told me that I was lucky because my guardian angel protected me. That was not the first time that my guardian angel gave me a sign. When I first met my husband, someone whispered to me and say, " He is the one." But I did not pay attention to it because, at that time, I was annoyed with my husband. My first impression of him was not good. So when we were living together already, the whisper came back to my mind and I just laugh. I never thought that my guardian angel would bring me to my husband. **But is there a way for us to know or a sign that our guardian angel is watching over us?** I am curious about the thought of it so I do some digging and here's what I found. **You dream about angels visitation** Dreams are most times as being seen as the window to the soul. Be that as it may, it can also signify that your guardian angels watching over you or that your guardian angel is at least nearby. Also, guardian angels may visit you in your dreams especially when they have a direct message to pass on to you. Other times they visit in a dream world using the image of close family members who passed on to reassure you that they are always around you and that you don't need to be afraid. **You see strange orbs in different colors** Have you ever seen strange lights beaming with different colors? It sometimes happens if your eyes are playing tricks on you. Sometimes you can also spot a strange colored orb. You don't have to panic because these lights and balls are like vehicles of angels. People believe that angels travel through these lights to visit people. So that shows that whenever you experience these light or come in contact with these orbs it merely means that an angel is watching over you or is at least around you. These orbs can be spotted in your everyday life or even on pictures. It's a unique sign that there is an angel by your side. **You perceive a sudden pleasant smell** There are times when you notice a smell around you that's very pleasant. Well, this may not be far from the fact that an angel's around you. People believe that sweet scents are another way in which angels reach out to people. This particular style of a visit is often to reassure that they're very much around you and that they're always there for you. These smells may take the form of delicious food, fragrant flowers, or a pleasant perfume that a deceased loved one used to wear. `This is so contradictory to our beliefs that if you suddenly smell burning candles or flowers, someone will die or our deceased loved one is near, and get scared. This enlightened me so from now on, I won't easily get scared from the sudden smell of flowers.` **Your baby sees what you can't see** It is also widely believed that babies and pets see beyond the ordinary and can see angels when they come visiting. This is most noticeable by the way the baby or animals look in a particular spot and the child's mood at that specific moment. When a child sees an angel, he or she is always at rest and smiling. If you spot a baby seeming to interact with something that is not there, it may just be a sign that your guardian angel is present. **You see images of angels in the clouds** When you are a child, can you remember having lied on your back, looking into shadows of the clouds? During this time, you must have come across some images in the clouds that look like humans. Belief has it that these humanly shaped images in the clouds are images of guardian angels watching over us. These angel clouds could take the image of an angel but they may also appear in pleasing shapes such as hearts or in symbols that are particularly meaningful or personal to you. **You notice a sudden change in temperature** This sign is similar to the intimate sweet smell aroma that's perceived. But in this case, what you have is an unexpected change in the temperature of the environment, you find yourself. This is one of the most obvious signs that something beyond the ordinary is around you and that could be your guardian angel. Different people report these changes in temperature in different ways. Some people feel sudden cold around them while others think sudden warmth. This warmth may be your guardian angel giving you a hug of reassurance. And the cold maybe that your guardian angel is sitting close to you. **You hear inaudible voices** It is difficult to talk to your guardian angel physically but that doesn't mean they're not communicating or trying to communicate with you. It's believed by people who believe in angels that when an angel is close to you or with you especially in a quiet place, you can hear inaudible voices. These distant inaudible voices are those of your guardian angel trying to communicate with you. You might be able to listen to what they are saying if you pay very close attention. **You feel like you are not alone** Everyone's had this feeling one time or another. You feel like you're in the company of other people but physically you're alone. It might just be a sixth sense or it might also be the raising of the hairs on the back of your neck. Some beliefs have it that when you have this feeling of not being alone, it means your guardian angel is close to you. Since you cannot see them physically, you can only feel that someone else is in the same room as you even though it might be empty. **You feel tingly at the crown of your head** Another feeling that many believers believe is that the result of the presence of your guardian angel is the tickling in the back of your head. Sometimes thus tickling or tingling may take the form of sudden warmth or maybe similar to when your foot falls to asleep. Reports have it that the relationship between the crown of the human head and the halo of an angel can be a powerful connection. Some beliefs have it that the guardian angel prefers using this way of communicating with people. So if you have this tickly tingly feeling in the back of your head, it could be your guardian angel's preferred way of communicating with you. We can also be a guardian angel to someone. Thank you for reading!
