Hello mental health (part2)
Hello mental health fam, hope everyone is doing well. Today, I'll talk about ways on how to take care of your mental health and well being. Remember I wrote about @Hi mental health.... so this part2
I hope it's helpful to someone.
WAYS ON HOW TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR MENTAL HEALTH AND WELL BEING.
1. Talk to someone you trust
Talking to someone you trust – whether a friend, a family member, or a colleague – can help. You may feel better if you are able to openly share what you are going through with someone who cares about you.
2. Look after your physical health
Taking care of your physical health helps improve your mental health and well-being. Be active for at least 30 minutes daily, whether that’s running, walking, yoga, dancing, cycling, or even gardening. Eat a balanced and healthy diet. Make sure to get enough sleep.
3. Do activities that you enjoy
Try to continue doing the activities that you find meaningful and enjoyable, such as cooking for yourself or your loved ones, playing with your pet, walking in the park, reading a book, or watching a film or TV series. Having a regular routine with activities that make you feel happy will help you maintain good mental health.
4. Steer away from harmful substances
Don’t use harmful substances such as drugs, kava, alcohol or tobacco to cope with what you’re feeling. Though these may seem to help you feel better in the short term, they can make you feel worse in the long run. These substances are also dangerous and can put you and those around you at risk of diseases or injuries.
5. Seek professional help
If you feel like you cannot cope with the stress that you are facing, seek professional help by calling your local mental health helpline or getting in touch with your counsellor or doctor. Remember you are not alone, and there are things you can do to support your emotional wellbeing.
LET'S SEE HOW SELF ESTEEM PLAYS ALOT WITH OUR MENTAL HEALTH.
Most people feel bad about themselves from time to time. Feelings of low self-esteem may be triggered by being treated poorly by someone else recently or in the past or by a person’s own judgments of him or herself. This is normal. However, low self-esteem is a constant companion for too many people, especially those who experience depression, anxiety, phobias, psy-chosis, delusional thinking or who have an illness or a disability. If you are one of these people, you may go through life feeling bad about yourself need-lessly. Low self-esteem keeps you from enjoying life, doing the things you want to do, and working toward personal goals.
You have a right to feel good about yourself. However, it can be very difficult to feel good about yourself when you are under the stress of having symptoms that are hard to manage, when you are dealing with a disability, when you are having a difficult time, or when others are treating you badly.
At these times, it is easy to be drawn into a downward spiral of lower and lower self-esteem. For instance, you may begin feeling bad about yourself when someone insults you, you are under a lot of pressure, or you are HAVING a difficult time getting along with someone in your family. Then you begin to give yourself negative self-talk, like “I’m no good.” That may make you feel so bad about yourself that you do something to hurt yourself or someone else. The ideas in this chapter will discuss things you can do to feel better about yourself—to raise your self-esteem.
As you begin to work on improving your self-esteem, you may notice thatyou have some feelings of resistance to positive feelings about yourself. This is normal. Don’t let these feelings stop you from feeling good about yourself.
They will diminish as you feel better and better about yourself.
