If you are a tech enthusiast, you’ve probably heard of the term Deep learning. It has been buzzed about in the last couple of years in regards to Artificial Intelligence (AI). However, many are still skeptical as to whether or not this new type of AI is something that will truly revolutionize the way we work and live.

The truth is, deep learning is already here. You are already using it in ways that you don’t even realize.

However, as this technology becomes more widespread, it’s becoming easier for more people to implement it into their work. So, in order to better understand what this technology entails, let’s take a look at it from a brief overview of this technology.

What is Deep Learning?

To put it simply, deep learning is a branch of AI that is used to train and optimize computer systems to make decisions. It is done in such a way that the AI can interpret new information and make decisions based on it.

This allows machines to better learn, adapt, and make decisions that humans would be able to make. In the case of machines learning to make decisions, they are learning to do things like translate text, detect objects in images, and play games.

Another way that this technology is changing the world is that it’s being used in ways that you probably wouldn’t expect. For example, Amazon uses it to better understand and make decisions about what products to sell and which ones to keep. Other companies are using it to automate the things that they do so that they can do it better and faster.

These are just a few examples of how the world is already using deep learning.

History of Deep Learning

While deep learning is a relatively new technology, its roots can be traced back to the 1980s. However, it wasn’t until the 2000s that it began to gain traction.

One of the first big names to use deep learning was IBM. IBM’s Deep Blue computer was able to beat the world chess champion Garry Kasparov in 1997. IBM has continued to develop deep learning and is one of the pioneers of the technology.

Another big name in the space was Stanford University. In 2011, Stanford created an AI named AlphaGo. This AI was able to beat a world-class human player at the game of Go. Since then, it’s gone on to beat several other humans and it continues to grow.

Companies like Google and Facebook have also made big strides in the world of deep learning. In fact, they are have their own deep learning AI chips to run software on.

Where is Deep Learning Now?

As of now, deep learning is being used by a wide range of companies. However, there are still a lot of questions that are unanswered.

One of the biggest challenges for deep learning is data. Deep learning can be used to analyze large amounts of data and to make predictions. However, this often means that the data needs to be raw and unprocessed.

This means that the data has to be created or collected. Once collected, it needs to be cleaned and annotated before it can be used with deep learning software. This can be a time-consuming process.

Another problem with deep learning is the fact that it can only be used with big data. Most companies that have deep learning use a lot of data to build their models. This can often mean that a lot of data needs to be stored and analyzed.

Where is Deep Learning Going?

Companies like Tesla already using deep learning for their self-driving cars. So as I mentioned in the Introduction: "Deep learning is already here".

In the near future, we will see deep learning used in many different areas. From social media to medicine, there are many different ways that deep learning can be used.

The reason for this is because of the fact that deep learning can analyze data and make predictions in ways that no one has ever been able to before.

This is a huge benefit, but also a huge challenge. Deep learning can process large amounts of data quickly. Meaning that it can be used to create predictions for many different companies at once. However, this can also mean that the data is used without permission.

The future is bright for deep learning. With the recent developments, we will see it used in many different industries. With this in mind, more jobs will be created to support it.

How do you win at chess without understanding how it works? How can you diagnose diseases using MRI if no one knows how it actually works inside the body? Not only does deep learning have answers to these questions but it also gives us hope that computers will soon be able to learn from data and identify patterns better than humans.

This was a great read. Deep learning can be a game-changer for the world but can also be very scary. I am hoping it is used for good and helps us get out of some of the problems the world is facing. In the wrong hands though it can push us even farther down a scary road.
