CHAPTER SIX
LIVING THE STUDENT LIFE
After the event of the last chapter, things went back to normal, we continued our studies, faced with exams and all that. It was not easy i finally understood the student life, there was never enough money to get and do the things i needed, there was never enough food so we had to manage, we usually go to classes early and come back late sometimes. Then the news came to us that after our first exams we would be relocating to a different location, the foreign (English) section of the school nolonger wants to be partners with the french section. It was actually a good news because our new location would be abit closer to the border, which would make our journey to the border alot easier, quicker, and . And there is a possibility of us meeting alot of people which could actually speak english
(Urghhh finally hahaha)
In Benin Republic most of the universities which had foreign department for English students, are not actually accredited with Our Nigeria government so which means after graduation over there , their results are not accepted in Nigeria or for National service. Only few Schools are actually accredited for that. And before my acceptance into the university i was currently studying, i was told my school was one of the few accredited, but i still had doubts.
After exams the day finally came, i was super exicted, for months i have not been to church based on the fact that i cant understand their language, i belived i would be able to a Church there and if possible join their choir and who knows make new friends from there
(okay besides the fact that i came from a religious background, i am also a drummer. As in i love drumming with passion)
I was one of the few selected to go see the school and carry some files there, okay dont get me wrong, it was not a privilege in anyway that i was selected, the others just sacrifice me so they could avoid the work. Hahaha. Getting to the place, the new setup was actually nice, this also ment the school had to set up a new hostel for students. After that i got back to the house and told my roommates about the new school building, we where all excited. Tho not for the fact that we had our own building, but for the fact that we no longer had to spend much to get to the border. We made the necessary arrangements, said our goodbyes to the few friends we had made over the months and we moved. Its not always easy moving to a new environment, it means making new friends, trying to adjust to a new environment and also the pain of loosing bonds already made at the old place, but thats life for you we move on.
remember i was one of the few who helped in carrying some of the school documents from the old building to the new one? Well from that moment on i started having doubts about the school. It might not be actually accredited like they say. But i hoped and prayed that i was wrong. The owner of our new hostel was a lady who was kind of scary but also friendly, she was a Muslim by religion who had a lot of kids that i cant even remember their numbers. But i remembered she had two young girls amoung her kids, age around 4 and 5 they where so cute and funny, lol tho they didnt speak English as well but they had an elder brother who speaks English very well, because he works for a mobile brand that requires the use of English this time me and Emmanuel where roommates ,while comfort had her own room just opposite us. I had hopes of getting a job but it was kind of difficult for we foreign students because we had to be able to speak at least French to actually get a good job. The University having a new building should have marked the start of a new beginning , or at least that what we hoped but we where in a for a rude awakening. It was only the beginning of things worse and the fall of the unversity as a whole.
