Nun-fungible tokens is the talk of the town for quite some time now. NFT games are popping here and there and I have been very interested with NFT that I dived into the gaming part, the play to earn NFT games specifically. However, there's one thing that I have been delaying - minting art and photography.
Back when I have a lot of time, I do art, digital ones through the iPad. But aside from that, I am also a photography enthusiast and I had taken quite a lot of pictures which can be minted too!
But then again, I had delayed understanding what minting is, how to earn from minted NFTs, and the like until the last Hive Cebu seminar: Hive Cebu Talks: Beyond Blogging which happened two days ago. So, after learning about this site Curate.Style which offers gasless NFT and P2P Marketplace, I decided to create an account and try minting one or two arts.
My Curate.Style Referral Code: EXKCNW
But there's an issue, I am not going to be able to create art soon, as for photography, I am sure I can mint some too but to try the site, I decided to create an account for my nephew, Seth.
I had shared before in the article Autism and Seth that this five-year-old boy has autism. His love for sea animals and drawing had paved him to develop a good skill - drawing animals but he is biased to sea creatures thus, I decided to create an account and named it SeaSeth. Aside from it being related to sea creatures, Seth's cousins usually call him si Seth.
So, today, allow me to share with you my first-hand experience with minting on Curate.Style.
Account Creation
I used the web app for now but there are iOS and Android mobile apps too! Registration was smooth, I was asked only to enter a pin after putting in my email address and there was no verification requirement! However, it is encouraged to set up an authenticator app, I used Google Authenticator.
There's a referral code input box so I had to create my account first and refer my nephew. I used his name and I am not sure if that's a good idea because we might be asked to do a KYC process and he won't be able to do that plus he is still a minor. But anyway, I proceed with his account creation, it seemed like it is okay to make accounts for minors.
I went ahead and minted two of his arts. These were drawn traditionally and I made pixel arts for it after taking a photo of the animals. I am not sure though what the first animal is but I am sure the second one is a hammerhead shark. I am not yet good at making pixel art, I will try to convert more of his art into pixel art soon.
Minting Experience
This was discussed during the seminar, it is free to mint an art but if someone buys it, there's a certain percentage that the curated site will take from the sold amount which I believe is pretty fine.
I plan on creating a collection of sea creatures but I was only able to create two-pixel arts out of the many drawings that he had in his notebook.
Just a funny trivia, Seth had already used a lot of paper, he would often use a ream of bond papers but because it is easily used in just a few days, his mother decided to let him use his sister's empty notebooks but their walls and stairs were not spared from Seth's pens and crayons.
As mentioned above, Seth has autism, he discovered sea animals in his early years in the form of Baby Shark and he had grown that love into the drawing. From a very bad drawing, he had developed and now can draw them better! He can also color at age five but just like any other child with the same condition, he gets tantrums always and in most of his notebooks, he'd be tearing up to pieces during tantrums.
Unfortunately, as I was trying to mint one, I received an error so I logged out and attempted to log in but it won't' do so. I had to stop it and decided to do the process the next day.
I reported the error to the admin and today, I was able to log in without problems.
I went ahead and sent one of the arts for minting. I realized, it is not easy to make pixel art, I will do better next time. This one here is just for testing purposes.
I tried putting in 2 XCUR for the price but their minimum value is at 5 XCUR, this is their token, and all transactions made in curate are done using XCUR.
I changed the price and submitted it again for approval but another error, the title was too long so I changed it to SeaSeth Fanged Shark instead. And then again another error, an internal server this time! So, I had to report this once again.
The person who referred this site advised that I use the mobile application instead.
Author's Note...
At this point, I started losing interest but I will still try it on the mobile app soon. For now, I will have to keep this article until this part and will update you on how the mobile app worked!
