Football Is Coming To An End 2

In my last article I talked about how the season is coming to an end this weekend. I am talking about the league season in Europe. I wrote about the premier league and the different matchday drama that will happen. The winner of the league will be confirmed today and the relegation threatened team will know their fate. In this article I will be talking about the Spanish LaLiga.

The winner of the league has been decided long ago. Real Madrid secured the trophy with 4 games to spare. They've been on top the league table since the first matchday and maintained that position all through the season. Even with the humiliating defeat they suffered against FC Barcelona they still won the trophy. Like the old saying goes 'He who laughs last laughs best'. Real Madrid had the last laugh.

The top four remained roughly the same throughout out the season with Real Betis and Real Vallecano making debut appearances but you know that there is a difference between form and class. Those team might have been in form but they were never destined to stay there. Form may come and go but class will always remain the same. Real Betis tried but they were never good enough. They couldn't cope with the likes of Atletico Madrid, Sevilla and Barcelona. Those teams were always going to find their way back into top four. It was just a matter of time.

The Blaugrana of Barcelona, Colchoneros of Atletico Madrid and Rojiblancos of Sevilla complete the top four in that order. The league table has gone back to normal or should I say factory settings. These are the team that consistently play in the champions league and are certainly going to play in next season own.

I am impressed with the fact that my club Barcelona was able to clinch second position against all odds. We start our league campaign poorly and we're 8th position at some point in time. We passed through a hell in the champions league and had to sack our coach midway into the season. It was a very bumpy ride. But thanks to the gods of football we survived through it all and qualified for European football next season and also qualified for the Supercopa Espana.

Worth of mention is the fact that Real Betis won their first piece of silverware in seven years. Their coach led them to victory and they won the trophy via a queenly contested penalty shoot out. Congratulations to them Manuel Pellegrino is truly leading them to the promised land.

Lastly two teams have been relegated. They are Levante and Alaves. The funny thing is that Levante was the team that secured Alaves relegation. They had already been relegated and decided they couldn't go alone so they brought Alaves down with them. An example of Crab mentality. If I can't survive why should you.

Cadiz, Mallorca, Granada and Elche are at the risk of securing the third relegation spot. This matchday is going to be full of drama especially for the relegation battle. All the matches will begin by 9pm (WAT).
