Chelle is Pregnant: The Father runaway

3 months ago, I wrote the article A time to let go and I shared about letting go of Chelle as our working student because she said that her uncle will be helping her to finish her studies. I let her go with high hopes that her life will be better there in General Santos.

Before she went to General Santos, she stayed in their place for 1 month and half. I also mentioned in my previous article that she has a boyfriend and within those days they were always together as some of their neighbors say. Last August 14, she travelled to General Santos, she enrolled herself for senior highschool too. By the end of the month, she became sick, she was vomiting and was ill. When they had check-up, the doctor said it was ulcer. In the middle September, I had known that she was escorted and sent back home to their place.

I chatted her that if she would like to continue her studies I am very willing to let her continue her schooling here in our place. She said, she was not yet ok.

Just yesterday, we went to Cabuaya, rumors from the many "Marites" there that Chelle was actually pregnant and the father runaway 2 months ago. She was left into shame and there is somebody who is willing to marry her despite her situation. And her parents agreed about it.

I went to their house to visit her, I did not ask questions about her pregnancy but ask her instead if she will be getting married - she did not gave me an exact reply. I can see in her face that she is sad, so pale. So different with the Chelle that lived with us for 1 year and 7 months ago.

I was so heavy hearted, I was not able to talk to her for a long time because I am with my kids and they would like to go home. I was sad, if only I know that this will happen I did not allow her to go home last June 30, 2022.

I communicated with her earlier and she said that she is the one to blamed, because she did not listed to some advices. Before this happened, I was really reminding her not to engage in such an act because she was still young, she's only 17. Yes, she maybe wrong but I am also considering the guy, the guy is older than her who might take advantage of her vulnerability. Her parents too who became so complaisant with her who always have company with the guy. Now, her parents is allowing another guy to take the responsibility.

Now, she's posting suicidal thoughts. I chatted her that whatever happens do not resort to doing bad thing to oneself. This will come to pass. What makes it more difficult to move on is that she is the talk of their barrio. Everybody knows her story. Many said, if only she was not pulled out from our house, this could not happen. But, we could not longer do anything about it now, what I feared happened and all I can do is pray for her and encourage her to continue life.
