Have you heard about Bogus Buyers? How about Joy Reservers? these are the kind of customers, online sellers would like to avoid. These are actually some of the challenges in online selling.

Bogus buyers / Joy reservers are those customers who would say "mine" to the items but when its time to pay, pick-up or delivery, they will not communicate anymore and ignore your messages. According to http://antoniogoodmannews.blogspot.com bogus buyer is a term for those scammers who utilizes internet, chat or text messages in reserving a selling item. There are different types of bogus buyers and dealing with them is really a waste of time and effort. Imagine, say for example, a bogus buyer would would mine on a "hot" item that could be supposedly bought a sure miner. Then the items are reserved. Then when it's paying time, they will not show up or at least communicate. You will again sell the reserved items to others.

How to avoid these kind of buyers?

  • Clear rules on bogus buyers and joy reservers

    Most of the online sellers would really post no to bogus buyers and joy reservers and they will say those that do so will be posted or cannot order anymore.

  • Strict no.of days of reservation. The sellers would actually give how many days an item would be reserved. If not picked-up or paid on time, it will be given to the next miner.

  • Collect relevant information. Some personal information like name, address, number will be collected to ensure you are dealing with trusted people.

  • Pay first before delivery. This is one of the most practiced way especially when the items needs to be shipped. To ensure that the buyer is a sure buyer, the items will be paid first before it will be shipped.

On mislabeled as Bogus Buyer/Joy Reserver

There are customers who are mislabeled as Bogus Buyer/Joy Reserver because they were unable to pick up or pay the item on time. Due to some circumstances like emergency cases, or delayed salary or being out of budget. There are sellers who are considerate on the circumstances, but there are those who will really post names and pictures which actually results to shame to a certain person. So in the part of the seller, before posting a person, please know of his/her circumstances first, maybe there are reasons why he/she was not able to communicate. Always think before you post.

My Experience

I am also an online seller, as I have mentioned last time. Although my business is not always constant due to work and time constraints, when it is possible I am selling preloved items, art accessories, RTW and skin care products. I also experienced this kind of costumers. Customers that actually I know personally because most of them are just here in our place. Thanks God they were just a few, can be counted by hand. They usually reserve for an item and when its delivery time, or pick up time, they will not chat or communicate anymore. I actually give them time to prepare and even ask them the date for meetups but to no avail, so what I usually do with this kind of situation is sell the item to others. I have not come to the point of posting them or ranting on social media about their attitudes. For me, relationship is still important. But I am mindful on the next transactions with them and will be hesitant to deal with them again.

CONCLUSION

There are different challenges in online selling, one is handling bogus, joy reservers, unsure buyers. But it should not stop you from doing the business. If you think and fell that something is wrong, do your own investigation, sometimes those remarkable bogus buyers have been posted by others. If the profiles in social media accounts seems not real, then stop dealing with them. Before posting somebody as bogus buyer, make sure that you know their circumstances, still remember kindness in dealing with the situation.
