Do you usually spend time reading and studying all the time? Have you ever felt that it is extremely hard? Or you like doing it?
Each one of us has different styles when studying. Some may like listening to some calming songs while reading. Some get distracted with some. Some also like studying at night. But whatever it is, do not just work hard when learning. Enjoy it also.
Studying is not just a thing we need to do just to finish it. It is something far better than that. We are studying nor just to learn all those things we need in our chosen course. It is not about memorizing terms with complex definitions. It is not just about knowing all the formulas to help solve a given mathematical problem. We are studying to learn and enjoy at the same time.
In this new setup of learning, I know many of you are still adjusting and so am I. It has been more than a year since the pandemic has began and with its effect, new setup of learning was implemented. Online learning has its own advantages and disadvantages at the same time.
Advantages
Given the fact that this setup is new, it is still had some advantages that are really worth noting here. And so, I listed some of these advantages for us to talk about. So, are you ready?
Students are at the comfort of their home.
Students can exercise greater freedom and control.
It saves food and transportation allowance.
It sets responsibility and priority among students.
The use of technology makes it easier to connect and update.
Among others.
Disadvantages
Despite of the various advantages of online learning, well it has its own disadvantages on the other side. And just when you thought that it's fully ironed, pile of tangled up thing will appear. In this digital age, not all are proficient enough when it comes to technology. So, the following things are the disadvantages.
A lot of technological problems being faced.
Not all students have gadgets to use.
Signal and data connection problems are inevitable.
Students may tend to procrastinate and submit things beyond the schedule.
Many may take advantage of the technology and use it to cheat.
And many more.
Maybe for many individuals, the bad things outnumber the good. But with the current threat of Covid-19, online learning seems like a good solution. It allows students to be safe at home without having to skip a whole school year. But, please do remember do the best that you can to catch up with the lessons and learn other things aside from those being taught.
You know what, there is this thing that was told to us by one of our professors. And this thing is about touring locally. Yes, you read it right. If you are confused about its meaning, I got confused too the first time I hear it. Well, it means that you attend the online class, but your mic and camera are turned off while roaming around or using other apps. Does it make clear now?
Anyways, he also said that we should not just work hard for something we want to achieve. We should also enjoy while learning because it is as important as studying. The more you enjoy learning, the better the outcome. It will make us more inspired and motivated to do our best.
