It is true? (Pregnancy Superstition)

Why can't Filipinos get rid of various superstitions, including pregnancy? Do you believe in the superstition that the ancients believed in which it was passed down from generation to generation over time?

Once again it causes confusion among others as to whether we should follow because it is usually contrary to what doctors recommend or there are no clear medical standards. But if we think about it, nothing will be lost if we follow it, right? I haven't gotten pregnant yet so I haven't experienced it yet. But I always hear it in the elderly when my cousin or sister is pregnant.

Here are just a few of the things I hear that Filipinos continue to believe in pregnancy superstitions.

Do not step on the spouse when conceiving because the transfer will be transferred to them. I think this seems to be true because my sister tried it. She stroked his husband three times while he was sleeping. She said just be careful not to wake up so that the effect will work. It is also said that there is a strange smell and taste when pregnant so the food they are looking for is unique, which is sometimes not consumed by the pregnant woman. Cravings are also based on culture. For example, Filipinos are looking for sour and salty (raw and fresh mangoes), Why, experts do not yet know. Although there is some research about it because it is a valid point. Or maybe he's just excited to be a daddy so he may be stress-eating. Her concern for the health and safety of her husband and future children also increased. What do you think?

Sleepy food on the plate used by a pregnant woman. This is what I always hear so sometimes they avoid eating the food of pregnant women. Because it is said that when you share food with a pregnant woman or eat what she has leftover or used a pregnant woman's plate, you will lose weight or become drowsy. But the truth is that everyone feels drowsy after eating, especially when they are too full. How can a leftover be passed on to anyone who is sleepy?

Do not eat twin bananas. Here I really laugh. Can you imagine if a pregnant woman eats contiguous bananas, she will give birth to twins? Having twins is also in the genes of the family. Most pregnant women today through In-vitro Fertilization carry multiples such as twins and triplets. But never because of eating twin bananas.

Do not look at 'ugly people, animals, or things when pregnant. If you do not believe that race dictates the appearance of a person, you may believe that when you look at 'ugly,' your child will also be 'ugly'. On the other hand, when you look at 'handsome' or 'beautiful', your child will also be 'handsome' or 'beautiful'. Those conceived in frogs, fish, broiler chickens, and so on, are especially popular in the province. Even the ones conceived in champurrado are so dark, in turnips so white, in rambutan so curly. It may not be necessary to explain that what a person sees, eats, looks at, or is interested in, objects or animals during pregnancy, has nothing to do with the appearance or disability of the child. We have longed for this belief, but no one has given a scientific reason for it. Remember that the physical appearance, characteristics, or condition of a baby β€” or person, are due to genetics or the genes and/or blood of the parents and their offspring, or perhaps a lack of nutrients when the mother is pregnant. That is why it is always advisable to eat a diet rich in nutrients and vitamins, and do not neglect yourself.

Hang garlic and sprinkle salt on windows and doors. Filipino culture is rich in belief in mythical creatures such as ghosts and detectives who are often associated with pregnant women, especially in the province. Because ghosts and detectives love babies where they want to eat them. But there is no proof of this.

These are other popular superstitions for pregnant women. It is up to you to decide if there is a connection between pregnancy or the newborn baby.

  • Pregnant women are not allowed to go to the cemetery. The stomach seems to be stiff. And it can be difficult to give birth.

  • Do not go to the grave or the grave of the dead. If you are going, don't look at it. But why?

  • It is forbidden to eat eggplant or banana heart because when a child comes out, every time he/she cries he/she will have difficulty breathing and it will be as violet as eggplant.

  • Do not bathe the baby every Tuesday and Friday because they may get sick. It was supposed to be the day of the witches

  • Do not eat fresh eggs. It is said that giving birth will be easier when you eat it.

  • Always listen to music. It is believed that when this is done your baby will be musically inclined as well as your baby will be smart when classical music is played.

  • Do not wear a necklace. It is said that the umbilical cord will be wrapped around the baby's neck when it is made.

  • Do not apply nail polish. Its chemical content will affect the baby.

There are so many more superstitions about pregnant women from different parts of the Philippines. Nowadays, pregnant mothers just laugh because they know the lack of "logic" or scientific explanation. But others are forced to do so, especially when their parents-in-law say, "You will lose nothing if you follow it," as the elders always say. I am not against this superstition especially if you live here in the Philippines or province that many elders believe. As I said, nothing is lost without trying. Although these superstitions are considered myths, it can be said that the intent of these superstitions is to guide women in their pregnancy to be careful.

Who has experienced pregnancy here, in all I have mentioned. Which is really true based on your experience?

And in other countries, what is your superstition about pregnancy?

I don't even know half of those. Probably because those superstitions aren't so popular here in the city. Or maybe those beliefs had faded out with us city folks

My partner before is so obsessed guarding me not to watch horror movies or ugly people in the movie. He just let me watch funny videos so I will be happy πŸ˜†πŸ˜‚.

I love watching the larva cartoon before, I am so happy watching it and that yellow larva always farts in the movie. My hubby got annoyed because I always watch it, sometimes I watch it when he is not around. When my baby comes out, she farts a lot like the yellow larva in the movie πŸ˜†πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

There are things that cannot be explained scientifically, but that nail polish it is not a myth it is really advisable to avoid strong chemicals during pregnancy so it will not harm the baby, even the use of cosmetics will be lessened during pregnancy.

The eat with a pregnant woman seemed to be true to me. I had this friend whom I didn't know she was pregnant. We ate together because she likes to share a plate with me. She always looks for me whenever she wanted to eat. I find myself sipping several cups of coffee a day. I don't usually drink 2-3 cups a day. One cup is enough.. She was a student that time and later I knew she was pregnant when she stopped going to school.

They also said watching ugly things.. when I was pregnant with my eldest I used to watch inspiring videos of pwd individuals. My baby is normal. But I remember my cousin got pregnant with her youngest. She has students with cleft palate she always gets mad at them. Those were twins and both were very naughty. When she gave birth her son has a deep line from under his nose down to his lips as if he looked like a cleft lip child but he totally doesn't have any defects.
