It may seem somewhat troublesome to take note of our struggles in life, for sure we got heaps of stories to share. In Facebook, some people haven't disposed any problem because they always have a dose of it almost every day. It seems they too have these similarities, worries and anxieties - things that bugs us is something so common to anyone, however who would want to dwell on that?!
I want to cling more on what is noble, inspiring and worthy to share - and that is our resilience to get up from those struggles and storms in life, because we are all similarly resilient in many ways.
Resilience by definition:
the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties; toughness. - Google
Resilience on this quote is extraordinarily practical:
"Resilience is accepting your new reality, even if it's less good than the one you had before. You can fight it, you can do nothing but scream about what you've lost, or you can accept that and try to put together something that's good."
Elizabeth Edwards
This morning, I have a talk about one single parent who have to endure the hardship of raising her daughter. She said that the hardest so far that she have to conquer will come few months from now when the school would send out a reminder to complete the tuition fee for her daughter to finally graduate Medical Technology. Wow! I can't imagine the untold times of resilience every semester that she have conquered rising tuition fees and other miscellaneous expenses. Just unfathomable.
Few days ago, I have read an article here somewhere, I discovered that the author was from Cagayan de Oro. She mentioned that the rain reminded her of the tragic typhoon Sendong. The tragedy might have a little stir in the mainstream media, but for someone like me, a resident of Northern Mindanao, this left a tinge of pain in my heart remiscing that nightmare. That typhoon killed thousands of people, hundreds more missing in the sea and hundreds of homes, a school and businesses got destroyed. That was my first to see dead people piled on the streets, some remainedΒ unidentified by family members who survived from the tragedy. However now, the horror were replaced by the people's resilience to face adversity and willingness to move on living and hoping.
In Facebook today, I happened to watch an audition from an aspiring singer "Nightbirde" in the "America's Got Talent." Her voice was really good and the fact that she sings an original song she composed herself was amazing. Nevertheless, what captivates me was her story, she battled for cancer for 2 years and right at the moment she knew that it metastasized to her lungs, spine and liver, yet she's still singing her song and life out, showing a beautiful smile and radiate inspiration to the world. She even added this line that captures my heart..
"You can't wait until life isn't hard anymore until you decide to be happy."
Nightbirde
True. We can decide everything for ourselves, and she decides to be happy no matter what. Indeed, our resilience is a choice, we have to decide to be strong and take a good fight.
When my dad had a stroke less than a couple years back, and had to be hospitalized again few months after because of gastric bleeding (and had to be transfused with 7 bags of blood). My fears popped from every single fissures of my brain, I always thought myself as strong but NO, doubts just creep in like a gas leaking from nowhere. Everyday was a trudging fight for resilience. Now, looking at my dad, I can say that we opted to be resilient as family.
I hope there is an immunity card to ward off ourselves from all these troubles, hardships, struggles and tribulations. Life would then be easy.
However, life is what we made it. On one hand, we have freewill and we enjoyed and loved how we designed it, problems included. On the other hand, we have choice and this is us trying and staying resilient.
This is the similarities we have as humans.. Similarly resilient.
"Be ready in season and out of season." - 2 Timothy 4:2
Be Ready. Whether we feel like it or not, do something.

Napakaganda. πππ life has a lot of choices and it is up to us who and what we decide our lives to be. Ako feeling ko parang slight over na ako sa drama-drama. Or siguro dahil na all out ko na.
