Hmm, maybe I'll make this a regular thing huh? I will write short reviews of any TV series and/or movies I watched for the week. Will publish a compilation either every weekend or whenever I have enough to write about. Sounds like a plan eh? Or not. 😆
Forgot to publish this yesterday, haha. Was busy watching a KDrama. Anyway while I wait for my on the job training to start I guess I will be watching various shows for an entire month. 😂 Such is life when you just stay indoors most of the time.
Don't worry, there are no spoilers here. Get ready, here we go!
♦ Huh, London Has Fallen?
This is the second movie in the Has Fallen series starring Gerald Butler. I've already seen the first one and I'll watch the third later on.
Apparently in this film London gets terrorized. Well at least the tourist sites and such. We get to see some of them blown up, that's how the story begins. Several presidents of various countries gets killed while attending a funeral. Uh oh.
Not much story to go by in London Has Fallen (2016). It's your typical action movie. It involves a US Secret Service agent who saves the president from getting killed, that's it. It's like White House Down (2013) but with different actors and situations.
There's plenty of scenes of buildings blowing up, terrorists, gun fights, car chases and all that. You name it it's got it. No love scenes though, it's not James Bond. 😂 The Die Hard series is way better but it's still good enough for an action flick.
I'll give it a 7/10 for all the action scenes.
♦ Who's Up For a Sibling Movie?
Okay I haven't seen a lot of movies about brothers or sisters so this is a good one. It's a family movie that doesn't have much drama and not a comedy too. I mean, whoa. That's why People Like Us (2012) is quite refreshing to watch.
It's about an only son who finds out he has a sister, awwww. There's no action scenes or fancy special effects whatsoever here. We just see people living their normal everyday lives. They deal with family issues like forgiveness/acceptance. Love the family dynamics, the actors are just perfect for their roles.
This is a feel good family movie that won't make you cry at all. Well at least I didn't. It doesn't delve too deep into the family issues so it's all good. I quite like it.
That's why I would rate it a 7/10. 😊
♦ A Computer Game Character That Could Think For Itself
I am not in favor of sentient AI's as they can mean the end of humanity soon but it's always entertaining to watch shows related to such. This is one of them. Free Guy is a lighthearted gamer/geek film that's just fun to watch.
Who would think a non player character in a computer game would "come to life" right? One of the bank tellers (Blue shirt guy played by Ryan Reynolds) gets an existential crisis. Imagine, a video game non playable "person" or a computer program thinking for itself? The movie theme song aptly describes it. Sweet, sweet fantasy indeed. 😂 I mean, the ending is just sweet too. Awww. 💕
As usual Ryan is fun to watch. Not sure if there's a running joke online but I've seen film trailer comments saying he's at that point in his career where he gets to play "himself" in every movie. 😆 Not quite a fan of the bad guy in it but the lead girl and minor geek character look good together.
Anyway I enjoyed watching it so much I am giving it a rating of 8/10. 👍
♦ False Prophet Or...?
Found this on Netflix. Messiah is a 10 episode series that tells about a possible Second Coming, or maybe the biggest religious scam. I mean, if someone suddenly pops up doing miracles and impossible things for sure you might also think it's the real deal. Or you might consider it a hoax.
That's exactly what I experienced when someone said he can heal me through the power of Jesus. Even if the pain disappeared after the sessions, I still do not believe what happened was true. It's crazy how the mind works sometimes, we always need proof or else it's fake. I mean, there must be a catch somewhere. That's why Messiah was quite interesting to watch.
However I don't like how the writers were on the fence even up until the end. They make you doubt and believe at the same time. Come on, who does that? It's supposed to be either true or not in any show, not entirely purely speculation. Maybe that's why the series got cancelled and didn't get another season.
I'll give it a 6/10. It's not bad but it's not that good either.

Writing reviews or recommendations of any TV series and/or movies I have watched is always fun for me. I have written a few and published them here. My favorite one was about Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries.
