My goodness, I have some kind of skin allergy since my second week here in Batangas province. What the... I've never had any skin allergies before. I don't even have any allergy to food so why did I suddenly have this problem? I'm not sure why but I have several ideas as to how I got this.
1. It might be from stress.
This is usually the first thing that some people think of on why we suddenly get allergies. Stress causes a weaker immune system or so I heard/read. If that's the case then maybe it's from the anxiety of being a newbie in this industry I've just entered.
As you know I started my on the job training (OJT) last month for a new career. (Won't say what it is yet.) And if you've read my freewrite articles from then you'll know what I have been feeling lately. I even post microblogs about it in noise cash. If it's stress then it might be some other reasons right?
2. It might be from a dirty living environment.
This one might be true. I am living in a boarding house with various people. There are two apartment units that trainees and regular employees live in. Everyone cooks and eats in the trainee apartment though. Also there is only one toilet for all and we all go barefoot inside the house even if it's a bit dirty.
I should have bought new slippers to use inside the house. Haven't bought any yet so I dunno if it's from living there.
I also transferred temporarily to a new place nearer where I work for a few days. Yesterday my allergy seemed to have "flared up" as some small bumps showed up on my right arm this time. Last week it was on my left arm. Tsk tsk. Not sure if you can see it well but here's a pic of my right arm.
3. It might be from the water or air?
My workmates said it might be from the air or the water. I don't know which one it is. 🤔 I mean, who gets allergies from those two? Seriously? That would be one of the worst thing to have.
I don't think my skin is too sensitive to anything but I did get some kind of skin diseases before.
4. It might be related to previous illnesses or other people.
When one of my cousins saw the above picture, she said it might be shingles. Well I did have chicken pox back in college. After that I also had another skin disease back when I started working in the BPO industry. That's another new career and environment for me back then. I was working with a lot of different people that's why I might have gotten something from them too.
My immune system was really weak prior to June 2019. I would get sick all the time perhaps because I would always sleep late or because I was working the night shift for years.
My online research gave me varied results when I checked what might be the cause of my skin allergy. It gave me some apprehension and fears on what I might have. According to the things I read, this might be from a bacteria or a virus. What the heck. It's not disappearing completely for some reason. It's already past one week and some are still not going away.
Sometimes it's really bad to have all the knowledge in the world online. We can scare ourselves into thinking we have so and so illness even if it might be something else. I dunno I will just wait for the doctor's prescription depending on his/her diagnosis.
🔸 To the Doctor We Go...
I already drank antihistamine yesterday. It did reduce the redness and inflammation/spread from the newer and tiny bumps on my arm. Need to ask a dermatologist about this problem.
This is why I am planning to go to the doctor tomorrow. I should get home later tonight so I can get to a doctor in the morning. (Finally I will have my rest days again. Woohoo! 😊)
Last night I already checked on where I could go to talk to a skin specialist. There isn't any dermatologist around here that I know of. A skin clinic is in town but they said he doesn't go there at all due to the pandemic. They only do online consultation. Don't want any of that so I will just go to a doctor in the city.
🔸 The Other Remedies I Tried
Because of my slight panic when a large part of my skin was red and swelling I ordered packs of the healthy coffee I also sell online. I added one superfoods juice as well just to help boost my immunity. Been months since I drank this juice so maybe that's why my health isn't as good as when I was regularly drinking the all natural superfoods mix.
These are what I started drinking just a few days ago. On my first week I might have staved off the allergy since I still had stock of the coffee. When I wasn't drinking it anymore because I had no more stock that's when the skin problem worsened. Huhu. Had to immediately think of ways to lessen the swelling and welts:
I put some vinegar on it.
I went to the beach and swam in the ocean. Was only able to spend an hour in the water though and haven't been back since then.
I regularly applied the liniment oil I also had with me because it can help with skin allergies as well. Good thing I brought it with me.
I bought stock of the health drinks to boost my immunity.
Sorry no pictures of those swelling red rashes. Wouldn't want to gross you out. Haha.
So far the regular application of the liniment oil helped the swelling and welts to subside. Some have already flattened and the skin is almost back to normal. However there are a few bigger ones that are pretty stubborn.
We have another oil which might be better for my skin problem. That one is antiviral, antibacterial and anti-inflammation too. I've yet to try that so I might buy it once I get back to the city tomorrow. Should have thought of it when I bought the drinks but I forgot.
As mentioned, we live far from town so everything is hard to get to. I ordered from someone in another part of Batangas and he came by on his motorcycle after delivering to another person in another district. Wouldn't want to order the same way as he might just spend his earnings on gas.
I will still go to the doctor just to find out what is causing this skin condition. It's not a fun experience at all. How can I work well when I have this problem at the back of my mind? Maybe this is also one of the reasons I am not able to concentrate at work huh?
Anyway how about you? For sure you check what kind of illnesses you might have online too right? What's the worst that you found? What home remedies do you do when you suddenly get allergies?
XOXO,
