Regret is a feeling of sadness, repentance, or disappointment over an occurrence or something that one has done or failed to do. A person feeling regret expresses disappointment, anguish, grief, sorrow, and woe.
When you feel regret, you feel bad or sorry about something and wish you can make amends.
Thank you so much sir for your sponsorship, I really appreciate 🙏🙏🙇
I saw this coming. Had I known, I would have made amends earlier.
Had I known, I would have said this earlier
I worried too much about people's opinions, had I known... I would have done what my heart desired. I should have chased my passion.
Had I known, I would have taken life more seriously.
I can't believe I just spilled this, had I known.
Had I known I would have done this, I wouldn't have done that.
Had I known this... had I known that.
Shades of regrets, sighs of 'had I known'.
Unfortunately, the next set of people make same mistakes, thread the same old part. Then end up with the usual rhythm, 'had I known'.
Because they won't learn.
Regrets that could be avoided.
We make mistakes, that's life. No one is above mistake.
Infact, it's impossible not to have regrets.
We all have one regrets or the other, just that they differ.
There are people with regrets that can be forgotten in a short while, while others will wallow in it till they die.
A person who goes to school and decided to do negatively, joins bad gang and get involves in an operation that claimed someone else's life. They get caught and sentenced to death or life imprisonment.
A person who has to spend the rest of his life in jail will wallow in regrets forever.
And note that it's not only people who are in jail that have long lasting regrets. They aren't the only ones with regrets that drain.
We regret over choices and decisions we made because we feel we could have made better choices. We made some choices that landed us in places we never bargained for.
For now, one of my biggest regrets is not taking my 100l seriously, I could definitely have done better. 🤧🤧
You can't avoid making mistakes, you can't avoid having regrets. But there are somethings you can avoid. That are obviously wrong.
Mistakes are supposed to be unintentional, but then... people do somethings that are wrong, that they are aware it's wrong. Some even think they can do wrong rightly.
You're threading a part you're aware you shouldn't, but you think you can do it right.
Excuse me? Plus minus gives minus. You can't do the wrong thing rightly or expect wrong to yield anything positive.
Something you supposed to do but you didn't will lead to regret. Something you did and you're not supposed to do will lead to regret.
Failing an exam when you could have prepared better will lead to regrets.
Many things lead to regret, alot are avoidable.
But then, there are some mistakes we made that are beyond us. We just couldn't have predicted it wouldn't end bad.
Ending up with the wrong partner might not directly be your fault. Ditching your former place of work for a better work which you eventually end up loosing might not be your fault.
Somethings happened that we couldn't control, but now, I want to lay emphasis on the ones you could avoid.
Why no try plan your time wisely?
Why not read better?
Why not take that course seriously?
Why not set a goal pattern this time?
Why not listen to your mum?
Why not stop trying to please everyone?
Why not just do the right thing rightly?
Why not this... why not that?
But if you've done things you regret, instead of wallowing in regret. It really might not be the end of the world.
A study in the recent issue of the Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin shows that about 90 percent of adults have deep regrets about their lives, and that the more they dwell on it the worse their quality of life tends to get.
Hey, listen.
You only failed an exam, you didn't kill someone.
He or she broke up with you, stop regretting meeting him or her.
You have been rusticated, it's okay... that's bad but it's not the worst, you weren't sentenced to jail.
You can make amends, you can make things right
It's okay to regret sometimes, it's okay to sigh 'had I know'.
But then, alot of things can be repaired. If it can, take a deep breathe and do it again.
Identify and recognize where and what you did wrong.
Revise your outcome
Let your ego go, and apologize if you're supposed to
Be honest
Know what's important.
Bring people along too.
One more important thing, forgive yourself.
Oh you're doing that first of all. You can only make amends after you've forgiving your self and let go.
Regrets can't ruin your life, regret didn't... your mistakes did. So if it's possible for you to make amends on your mistakes and forge ahead, give it a shot and stop wallowing in regrets.
Stop biting your nails and sighing"had I known"
And one more thing. Don't follow the same path you regretted. You should learn.
