Where is that BOY?
And time flies so fast like it is always in a hurry! You will just be surprised the moment you remember some memories that seem like yesterday. Then you will tell yourself, oh I haven't noticed, it's been years!
I felt that too last Wednesday when my youngest brother celebrated his 21st birthday. Here in the Philippines 21 is the legal age for male. I told my sisters how time goes by as we no longer have a BOY.
It was way back 2000 when my mother got pregnant at 42. Honestly I was annoyed by the thought that another member of the family will be added. Oops my bad, but it was only a thought of a kid. I was even wondering if my Mom could not stop from giving birth as I know we are already seven that time. Both of my parents don't have a good source of income so life was indeed hard. We always run out of food.
When I asked my Mom one day, she told me that my Father wants another son. Well out of my six siblings five of them are " sisters". The only male sibling I have is my older brother. I don't know but the head of the family always wants a son as they say they will be the one who will continue the " FAMILY NAME". Not only that but in our place having 8 children or more before is just normal. They believe that this was the basis of being a "MAN". Batayan ng kanilang pagkalalaki" Now I can't help but to laugh sometimes with the thought.
And the baby boy was born.
Yes, my Father's wish was granted and at last another son was added to the family. I may be young then but I had witnessed the happiness of my Father because of it. Would you believe it if I told you that it was only our younger who had many first? Yes it's only him;
Delivered at the hospital, all of as were delivered at home with the help of a midwife.
Had a crib.
Infants milk while us was only breastfeeds or rice water.
New sets of onesies.
and many more.
My Father became a responsible one for months ( medyo pasaway po kasi Tatay ko). And indeed Toto ( how we address younger brother) was the apple of his eye.
When he was still a kid, we were even worried as he might grow up belonging to LGBTQ community. Don't get me wrong I don't have issues with anyone belong to 3rd sex.
So back to our worries, he grew up with us, his sisters and nieces. His favorite color before was PINK. Not only that but he is a cry baby. Every time he had been scolded he would cry. He is so iyakin! That is why we had a thought about baka lalaki siyang bakla. hahaha
Where is that BOY?
As I am writing here some memories in mind that keep on playing. Haizzzt ang bilis talaga ng panahon! Our little boy outgrew our laps. He even had a girlfriend already. We could no longer cuddle him as he grew too tall. The last time I went home I barely reached his shoulders, and I stood 5'1 feet. Hindi ko na mabatukan.
If you're gonna ask me how he is? Well has the usual " BUNSO" attitude. Which made us worried. Maybe because he didn't experience hardships in life like us. Seems he is not serious in his studies. He failed in the first course he took.
Sometimes he is joking with us that it is okay if he could not finish his studies. As we are always there for him. He will ask $2 from us every payday and since he has 6 sisters he can accumulate $24 monthly. Ganda ng plano ano?
However we are not losing our hope, as of now he is already back to his studies. Just hoping he could finish it. Oh if there is one thing that didn't change? He is still a cry baby at his age. hahaha, every time we would scold him he would cry. That's the good thing about him. He may talked back but he never dared to lay his hands on us. Considering he is now stronger . Subukan niya lang!
By the way he was unable to blow his birthday cake as Kyle, our nephew, sneaked out when he thought no one was looking. Cake was his favorite and it's hard to tame him once he saw one. So yeah, how could my brother do it if this happened to his cake.
That's all for today and I hope everyone is enjoying their weekends. Have a great day and thanks for dropping by.
And thank you @gertu13 for the sponsorship.
