It's undeniable that in the last few months, blockchain gaming has been a trend and creates a ripple effect together with NFT related games. I do believe that blockchain gaming is a great strategy to introduce crypto to everyone especially to those newbies. Based on my observation, the number of people (in my place) who get involved in crypto after the trend of games is increasing—and possible to continue.
From Axie Infinity, there was a lot of games that appeared and you need to choose what is the best among them, and in my opinion, Splinterlands is one of them which I gave a review and simple tutorial in the last few weeks. Now, let us explore the world of plants vs. undead.
👉Simple Tutorial of Splinterlands.
What is Plants Vs. Undead?
It is a game where you can farm Light Energy also known as LE which is the convertible into PVU token which has a value on the market. As of writing, the value of PVU is approximately $1.90 per token.
How can you start on Plants Vs Undead?
At first, you need to have 5-10 PVU as an initial investment, you need to convert this PVU into LE to buy the tools that you need in farming and planting your plants. These tools are small pot, water, and scarecrows.
Each tool has a role in the game, the small pot can be used as the pot of your plant, the water is for watering your plants and scarecrow is to make the crows leave your plant and continue farming.
Also, you need to buy temporary plants called Sunflower Sapling and Sunflower Mama. These plants will farm Light Energy in the specific period of time.
The Gameplay
I can say that this is one of the most unique blockchain games among the blockchain gaming. It is because this game doesn't need a time commitment, your work is to visit it seldomly to check if it is watered and there is no crow which is rarely to happen.
In my observation, you need to water your plants every 24 hours so you can visit them after the whole day. Then the crow is seldomly visit your farm to stop the farming time of your plants, you can use scare crow to remove them.
Is it worth it to invest?
Disclaimer: This is not financial advice. Everything is from the author’s opinion and experience. I do believe that Plants VS Undead is a good investment for the long term. In fact, I got my initial investment after (more or less) 10 days without grinding. I invested 5-6 PVU last October 2, 2021 and harvested on October 11, 2021 and got 5-6 PVU which indicates ROI.
However, the only conflict is the value of the PVU token dumped so hard. At the time of investing, the price of 1 PVU was between $3 to $3.5, that means I invested $20 to get 5-6 PVU. After 10 days of farming, the value of PVU token is only between $2.5 to $3.
If PVU is constantly decreasing its value, how come it is worth it?
Well, for the coming days of this month, they will launch another gameplay which is PvP. This is where you can grind to earn more PVU token. They recently launched the Beta Test of PvP and I experience the gameplay which is great and promising.
I believe that this PvP will hit the trend and more players will play this game. Hopefully, more people will buy the token and support the game. In the Beta test, they also showed how you will earn while playing and if the rewards will be like on the Beta test, then surely, you will gain a lot of PVU token. After 21 waves of the game, I earned approximately 13 PVU.
If you are planning to join in this game, it is better if you will join before the 20th of October and buy a permanent plant. Starting from October 20, they will clone the permanent plant that you have. As a result, you will have two same plants: in farm mode and in PvP. The advantage is you have a plant that will farm in farm mode and you will have an asset for PvP—which is I believe that the plant that you will use on the game.
I am planning to publish a tutorial on how to play this game [farm mode], how to start, and the guide about the things that you need to buy.
