How to Start on Hive: Write and Earn
Hive is a blogging platform where you will earn cryptocurrency by publishing blogs and articles. You can start writing on this platform without investing. I have been writing on Hive for 7 months and still earning a decent amount of crypto which you will not get from scrolling on other social media such as Facebook and Instagram. I love the concept of Hive, although I am still exploring it, you will see the opportunities given by the platform, you can also post your video content and start microblogging. Hive is kinda complicated yet you will learn how to use it after a few days of staying.
So, people are asking me about how to start on Hive and I will tell you some things that I know. Basically, how to sign up and its basic concepts.
How to create an account?
You can sign up on Hive using this link (referral link). Hive has a lot of front-end where you can use anything depending on where you are comfortable. In my case, I am using PeakD because it has a user-friendly interface and it is easy to navigate.
You will be redirected to this landing page where they will ask for your account name, but here's the thing, your account name is your address. What does it mean? This is what you will be using as your wallet address, meaning, you will receive and send crypto from this address (your username). Unlike other coins such as Ethereum where your wallet address usually starts with “0x…” and it is too long and hard to remember. In Hive blockchain, your username is your address so make sure that you will choose a better name.
The next thing to do is to back up your keys. They will provide your keys, make sure to save them in a safe place because it is something like your seed phrase (you know how important it is). If the person has access to your keys, they will have access to your Hive account including your funds. They usually provide five different keys:
Master password
Posting key
Active key
Owner key
Memo key
These keys have different purposes so make sure to save them all.
Lastly, you will choose what front-end you will use: PeakD, Ecency, Hive.blog, and more. After that, you are done.
Basic guidelines on Hive
Here are some guidelines before you start writing on Hive.
Resource Credit.
Unlike other platforms, Hive has something called resource credits. We can compare it to a fuel where you will not be able to do anything once you drained it. But nothing to worry about, resource credits are regenerating over time. The more Hive power you have, the quicker you will regenerate your credits. So what is this Hive power? It is something like you stake your Hive token to generate your resource credits, the amount of your upvote also depends on your Hive power.
Markdown style
Writing in Hive is kinda unique because you will use the Markdown style. Not simple formatting like highlight then bold (but you can also do it) but you can just type something like a code to (example, bold or italic text). In short, formatting. For example, you can bold a text by using two asterisk symbols, and the text you want to bold in-between the symbol.
Example format:
**this is a bold text**
Output:
this is a bold text
Somehow, I find this helpful because you can put a table and make your design in your blog like you own it. You can find more Markdown style codes in this link and explore more to design and make your content attractive.
Curators
So, how will you earn with Hive? The answer is simple, just write and publish your blog. Once a curator loves your content, they will upvote it and you will get rewards. Everyone can upvote your content, you are lucky if someone upvoted you and they have a huge amount of Hive power.
How much are the potential earnings for your blogs? I won't say anything about the earnings but take a look at this which was posted yesterday (April 26, 2022) in which he earned $800+ for a single content.
I can't guarantee that you will also earn the same amount but if you are lucky and produce quality content, then probably you can also do it.
I have more things to say about Hive but to summarize, Hive is a good platform. However, as of now, they are not accepting applications for free.
In short, you cannot set up your account for free. You can start by paying for their paid service which is worth $ 3. But I am not sure if it will work as I haven't tried it yet since I signed up for free.

I've been looking for beginner content about Hive. This serves that purpose. But Hive is just too complex to understand. I mean like having so many blogging platforms all serving the same purpose.
