Why Two People Can Have Two Different Opinions and still be right

Howdy folks 🀠 how are you today?

I slept late last night coz I was trying to solve a coding problem, at one point I decided to just call it a night and continue the next day. I woke up late in the morning (not surprising) and there was no electricity. I was expecting it to come before 9am, but it never did πŸ’” I wanted to finish the project I was working on but my laptop only works with light.

That's the dilemma I am passing through every day with the laptop I am using, it was given to me by my friend and I just have to manage it for now until I am able to buy mine. What has been delaying my plans? Well, it's BCH, I am just hoping the price will increase to $500+ within the next few months 😁

Different perspectives

Source

Everything we hear is an opinion, not a fact. Everything we see is a perspective, not the truth - Marcus Aurelius

I've always seen it as a good thing when someone has different perspectives and opinions than you. This can be good in life and business. But what happens when you disagree with someone on an issue but they are right? For example two people with the same viewpoint but different perceptions or interpretations of something. So what happens when one person sees something one way, while the other sees it differently.

You and I may disagree on the same issue, but we can still both be right. How is that possible? Because one of us might not know everything, and the other one might not have all the evidence or details that could make their point even stronger. It's important to remember that just because someone has a different opinion from you doesn't mean they're wrong or stupid.

Let's say your friend wants to see a war movie tonight, but you think it would be best if they went to see a movie about dancing bears instead. Your friend thinks it will be boring because there won't be any action scenes in this movie, but you know that there are plenty of action scenes in dancing bears!

Source

You could go into detail about how they're similar and how they differ, but you wouldn't need to because your friend has already made up their mind, they're going to see a war movie. And maybe they're right! Maybe a war movie is better than dancing bears but maybe not! And if it isn't better than dancing bears then at least they will have had fun watching it.

So, in essence, there are two kinds of people in this world: those who see things the way you do and those who see them another way. But both can be right. You see it this way because you have a strong opinion; they see it another way because they have a strong opinion. But both of you can be right!

This is because our opinions are based on different perspectives, which means that they're not always the same as each other. One person might look at something from afar, while another looks at it up close. One person may focus on one aspect of something, while another focuses on another aspect. And so on and so forth.

It's a fact of life. No matter how differently we see the world, we all have a perspective that is valid for our own lives and experiences. You might believe that Christmas is about giving gifts and spending time with family, while I think it's about getting together with friends and being merry! We're both right.

We have different contexts for our lives, and that's okay. It doesn't mean we can't agree on something or understand each other better, it just means we each have an opinion based on our unique experiences and perspectives.

Sometimes people don't get along because they don't understand each other's perspectives (and sometimes they do), but that doesn't mean they're wrong or bad people. The key is to keep an open mind and try to understand where others are coming from before you make assumptions about them based on how they act or what they say.

The point is that we all have different viewpoints, and that's what makes us human! We all have our own way of seeing things, and when we get together with someone who has a different view than ours, it's actually really cool! You can learn from them and vice versa, you don't ever have to agree with anyone else's point of view 100%

This is true, that's why we have judges to settle cases. To the armed robbers, they think they're doing the right thing.. because robbery is seen as means of survival, and even if they know that it's morally not right, they still pick it from the angle of "everybody is a thief" with a strong hammer on politicians 🀷

That's the same thing Yahoo boys do, they try to justify their crimes by saying they are only taking back what the whites stole from our forefathers

Hmmm...so I guess bottom line is to not always think that we are right all the time and give ears to what others say cos they too can be right even when we don't know.

Exactly, we just need to keep an open mind and put ourself in the position of the other person 😁

Two people could have different opinion but the matter is of respect we should not cross the line

That's just it, we should have respect for each other's opinion

We see life differently and we are shaped by our individual experiences. Our experiences are peculiar to us and we are the ones to be in the best position to speak from our stand point of view. Where we stand - our standing and position would always influence the way we view things and it doesn't mean we are wrong but it only means it's alien to the others because they can't relate to it and it's fine. That's why we learn...walk in other people's shoes to understand what they are seeing but most people just outrightly as long as they can't see what you are seeing. Imagine someone seeing 6 and the other person seeing 9 at the opposite end... They are both rights it depends on where they are standing.

Exactly, that 6 and 9 perspective is the analogy I had in mind while writing this article. Most people aren't open-minded and once they notice your opinion is different from theirs, they will say you're wrong but the wise ones will look at the issue from another angle and see why you have that opinion. Like in the 6 and 9 analogy, if the other person is wise, they will wonder why the first person is confidently saying 6 and they will look at the number from another angle and discover it is also 6

Exactly. It calls for being open-minded to learn. Most people don't want to learn. They don't want to be wrong. They want to hold on to what they know...

Everyone has their way of thinking and thinks according to their mental level that's why both are right according to their thinking level

Definitely. They are just seeing things from one angle and that doesn't mean any of them is wrong

Different opinions could always be right even when people involved don't seem to get along with each other. I might think you are correct while you are already sure you are correct..

A lot of problems in the world comes from this issue; people don't get along with each other because they are looking at only one side of an issue and they conclude that it is the only correct side, meanwhile the issue has so many sides and they all are correct

Hmm, I get how two different opinions can be right and you are so right when you said what's makes the world go round is different opinions.

Yeah it is. Different opinions existing in the world means we have a diverse way of solving problems and can evolve. Just imagine if everybody shares the same opinion, by now we for probably still dey live inside cave coz everybody will just agree to remain there πŸ˜†
