Howdy folks, how have you been?
August has been going quite smoothly for me and I am very happy with how things have been moving lately, especially on hive. This week, I have been spending a lot of time on hive and I am starting to enjoy being active there because of some events that happened recently (more on that later).
I will honestly say Hive is not easy at all, especially for newbies BUT it does get easier. Hive is a very complicated platform and if you're to look where it got its name from (a beehive), you will see that it conforms to the complexity of a typical beehive; you can easily lose your way because of the numerous sections and features.
BUT as long as you're willing to learn, humble enough to take corrections, consistently engage with other users, and take part in different prompts, challenges, and contests, then it will definitely get easier and you will get to enjoy hive. The beautiful thing about hive is that they are always people who will offer you a helping hand when you make mistakes, they give you corrections and tell you what to do next time, that's how you learn and become better.
I haven't been very active on hive since I got back some months ago and that's because of low credit resources (RC). I bought a few hive when I resumed activities there and I used them to power up my account but I guess that wasn't enough 😆 I quickly run out of RC and that was why I only visit hive 2 - 3 times in a week coz I always have to wait for my RC to recharge.
On Monday (August 1st), I logged into my hive account and I saw a notification that said I have powered up my account and I was wondering how that happened but it turned out it was @Jane that was behind it. I was mind-blown when I discovered it was Ate Jane and I was totally speechless for a few minutes, I was overwhelmed by that act of kindness from Ate Jane.
On Tuesday (August 2nd), I got another notification that I have been delegated some hive power (HP) by someone and I discovered it was @FarmGirl ! I just couldn't contain my excitement and my morale was over the rough that morning 😆 what she delegated to me is huge! It's double of what I had initially, so yeah it's very huge.
I took my newly delegated HP for a spin and jumped from article to article that day and my resource credit barely moved 😆 it was energizing! It felt like I have been upgraded from a bicycle to a jetpack, I have lots of energy to go farther than I have gone before and that alone made hive more enjoyable for me coz I no longer have to be picky about what article to read before running out of RC.
Ate FarmGirl and Jane have both been very strong pillars of support to my blogging journey (here and on hive). I remember when I was a newbie here on readcash, they were part of the first few people that made me feel like I belonged here, their friendliness and kindness motivated me to keep pushing to the top and I always learn a lot from reading their articles.
Now they are also doing the same for me on hive, their help has boosted my morale to very high levels and I am finally enjoying hive. I will forever be grateful to both of them as well as every other person that helped me on my blogging journey 😊
My Earnings on hive as a newbie
I would say the earnings on hive are based on luck as a newbie and you can increase that luck by being very active. Why do I say it's luck? Well, if you're lucky enough to get curated by one of the whales on hive, then your article is likely to earn high but those whales won't always visit your articles.
BUT I believe it gets easier as time goes on, as long as you're consistent, patient, and engage frequently with other users (very important), then you can be successful on hive. My articles haven't been performing so well on hive and I actually know why 😆. While still rejoicing over the HP FarmGirl delegated to me, I had so much morale so I spent a lot of time researching and writing an article.
I published the article at the same time I published here on readcash and I slept off. I woke up in the morning and checked on the article I posted on hive and I met it the same way I left it; no comments, no likes, no upvotes, if there was an icon for views, I am sure that would have been zero as well. I wasn't totally devastated coz I considered it turning that way but I was still devastated.
I spent a lot of time on that article and yet it didn't get anyone's attention, am I doing something wrong? I asked myself. I still went ahead to engage with other users and then I left after a while to go do other activities. A few hours later, my phone started vibrating with lots of notifications popping up, I checked and saw they were coming from ecency app, so I opened it.
They were all upvote notifications on the article I was feeling bad about earlier. I scrolled to the very first one and noticed it was from OCD (one of the curators on hive) and that was when I realized something interesting; all the upvotes came in at the same time! Whenever a way upvotes my article (usually OCD), a lot of people start upvoting as well.
I am pretty sure it's the same with everyone on hive, you might have experienced it too if you have been curated by a whale. Whenever that happens, a lot of people also start upvoting at exactly the same time, coincidence? Definitely not 😁. There's one obvious answer to how they do it: it is automatic!
To confirm that theory, I checked the profiles of those that upvoted at the same time as OCD and It was exactly what I suspected: most of them are programmers/software engineers! That means they are using a script that automatically upvotes any articles that OCD upvotes, they are following him everywhere on hive 😂 the ones that aren't programmers probably got the script from those that are programmers.
Anyway, after that upvote from OCD and many others, I was instantly motivated to come up with another article, so I started writing immediately. I also spent a lot of time engaging with other users and I will say the most active I have been on hive was today but even with all the activities I did, my resource credi t didn't even get low! Thank you so much Ate Jane and FarmGirl 🤗
Thanks for reading 💖💖💖

Hive is actually fun when you get a grip of how things work. I was basically lost at the beginning as well until my guys started showing me the way. I'd advice you find a community or two that really resonates with your kind of person and build a presence there. Then you can engage in prompts as well, it's a good way to gain exposure.
