One thing I love most in the business venture I am in is that the learning never stops and we experience holistic growth with the trainings our leaders equip us. They tackle about different aspects of life. One of this is about self development. In one of the trainings I have attended, our mentor discussed about the 15 success killers that we should avoid if we want to prosper in life.

Success Killer #1: Lack of Learning

"I know everything" mindset is one of the biggest reasons why some people lack in learning. When you think you know everything, you are not open to learning something new. Growth stops when we stop learning and this hinders success.

Success Killer #2: Too Dependent on Others

Being independent makes a person strong and it makes room for exploration, therefore it opens an opportunity for learning and growth. When you know how to decide and act for your goals without the asking for anyone's approval, you will succeed.

Success Killer #3: Fear and Doubt

Fear and doubt are kill most of dreams. It's a chain reaction. They stop a person from acting. Lack of action leads to lack of results and this often makes a person quit, thus hindering success.

Success Killer #4: Negative Thinking and Lack of Gratitude

Our mind is a very powerful asset. We attract what is dominant in our thoughts. We attract both circumstances and people. This made me realize that a negative mind will never give us a positive life. Negativity and ingratitude are connected. A person with a negative mindset will always find negativity in everything instead of being grateful for the blessings that happened in his life. Unconsciously, this leads to bad attitude and it attracts more negative situations as a consequence, therefore hindering success.

Success Killer #5: Playing the Blame Game and Making Excuses

You can either have results or excuses, it will never be both. People who blame others and make excuses don't know how to take ownership of their goals and they don't know how to take responsibilities when they make mistakes and they end up blaming other people or circumstances for their lack of ownership and accountability. People who always find something to blame will never find solutions, thus repeating the same mistakes that hinder success.

Success Killer #6: Mismanaged Emotions

Mastery of emotion is very important. Schools focus on enhancing IQ, but EQ is equally important to IQ. When we know how to master our emotions, we can think clearly and decide out of critical thinking, which is very effective in executing the right actions to take in order to succeed.

Success Killer #7: Comfort Zone

Comfort zone is a big factor that hinders success. It holds back the ability of a person to harness his full potential that is needed to succeed. Life begins outside our comfort zone. Stepping out of comfort zone may be really hard but it's the only way for us to level up and triumph over challenges resulting to success and happiness in the end.

Success Killer #8: Working Alone and Wrong Mindset About Teamwork

Being independent and teamwork are both important. There should be a balance between the two. It is important to be surrounded by the right people who will collaborate with you. Teamwork makes the dream work and magnifies success without the team having to spoonfeed you.

Success Killer #9: Crab Mentality

Crab mentality is obviously a hindrance to success. We don't achieve anything by pulling people down. It's the other way around. If you help enough people achieve what they want in life, you get your goals too. I've seen people in front of me achieving tremendous success the more people they bless. People who help others are blessed a hundred fold.

Success Killer #10: No Sense of Urgency

Procrastinating is the enemy of success. Without the sense of urgency, you'll soon find out that you're delaying what you want to achieve in life. Always have the sense of urgency. You'll never know what damage those delays can bring. It hinders success and prolongs your agony.

Success Killer #11: Listening to the Wrong People

One of our mentors said "Be careful who you listen to. Once you listen to someone, you are buying into his lifestyle." Before listening to someone, check if that person knows how to guide you to the success you are working for. Be objective. When you have a health problem, you consult a doctor. It's because you are consulting the right person who knows how to guide you. It's the same thing when we talk about success. Listen to the right people who know how to guide you to success.

Success Killer #12: Pride

Sometimes, we need to give up something good for something so much better and it includes pride. Pride holds us back to change for the better sometimes and this change could be the one that is needed for the success we want to achieve. We should be humble enough to accept what we have to do to and give up the pride is pushing away our success.

Success Killer #13: Quitting

There's a saying "Quitters never win, winners never quit." The temptation to quit is great when we don't get the results we want, having the "It is not for me" mindset. The temptation to quit is also great when success is just around the corner. A child fell many times before learning how to walk and you never heard any child say "Walking is not for me." Same is true in life. Quitting is a sure way to fail. If your efforts didn't work, try other methods until you succeed. You'll never know, success might be just around the corner.

Success Killer #14: Complacency

Success is not a one time big time thing. It should be sustained. Do you remember other successful businesses that went bankrupt? The common denominator there is complacency. They thought success is permanent and they don't need to innovate or level up. Complacency brings back comfort zone and it stagnates us later on and before we know it, success starts to dwindle.

Success Killer #15: Not Praying

I'm not promoting any religion. I respect them all and just like our mentor, I strongly believe that this is the biggest success killer of all time. Not praying has an impact in our ability to discern what to do in life, hindering success sometimes. We should be humble enough to acknowledge that we can't do everything alone. We need our creator's guidance so we can be enlightened. Our creator is also behind our success. We are nothing without Him. We do our part, then He'll do the rest to bless us with more than what we prayed for by sending us the people who can help us in our journey to success.

The Impact of Success

Success brings joy in many aspects while we grow in a holistic way. When you feel like giving up, always think about the things you will enjoy when you become successful.

1. The career you will create

2. The freedom you will enjoy

3. The lives you will touch

4. The people you will meet

5. The places you will see

6. The causes you can contribute

7. The person you will become in the process

I truly appreciate the efforts of our mentors to educate us and give us awareness about these success killers. I'm very thankful that I learned about them. This can help us develop the right mindset and attitude to overcome the things that hinder us from achieving what we want in life. May we all become successful and live a happy life.

Related kasi yan sa law of attraction.

These are killers indeed. I know we have experience that and still experiencing most of those if not all. Sometimes we comfort ourselves that because we didn't try one thing we are okay at where we at, the downside of comfort zone.

Agree. Tapos before we know it, yung comfort zone hinihila na tayo pababa. Instead na mag progress, nagiging stagnant na o kaya masaklap napag iwanan na kasi hindi na nag grow.
