Under Authority

We love being free. We cherish the moments when we can do whatever we want to do, whenever and in whatever way we want it done.

However, we must remember that we live in a society. All societies have culturally accepted forms of authorities. Webster defines authority as, personal power that command influence, respect or confidence; the person or persons in whom government or command is vested.

Literally authorities are those who have legal and moral powers over us. And whether we like it or not, authorities are everywhere! They're in School, Barangay's, Streets, Malls, Hospitals, Offices and even in our very own Homes!

Have you ever thought of what will happen if there were no authorities above us or if they would not function effectively for some reasons. Imagine the following situations, what will happen if a traffic jam with no policeman around. Likely effect maybe No rules will be implemented and followed..bumper to bumper and might have a long traffic. How about if there's No guard at the gate and/ or grounds of high school campus, probably outsider will get inside the campus. Or the Philippines without a president and law makers and, what do you think will happen. I'm sure every day there is trouble and killing in our country.

All of us are under authority in different degrees. We have to admit that the younger you are, the more authorities you have to adjust to.

Remember this things to motivate you to submit to them.

*To be under authority is ethical and vital for survival. To respect authority is basic etiquette for the entire human race. After all, those who are in authority have more responsibilities and accountabilities than we have. They worked hard and went through a lot before reaching their status. For instance, today's generals in the Philippine National Police took years of rigid training and all sorts of difficulties before reaching their rank. They simply deserve our respect.

Respecting authorities is not just ethical. It is also spells survival for societies. Submitting to them is necessary for our own sake and for the progress of our society.

Imagine if each of us would disregard authorities and do our own thing. There would be lawlessness and disorder everywhere!

*To be under authority is to be under the care, protection and training of others. People in authority are ahead of us in many ways. Our parents for instance, have years of learning experiences behind them. Our academic authorities have read tons of material and spent hundreds of hours of studies than most of us combined. Their expertise on many fronts of life serve as their tool for protecting and guiding us. They can assist us to become mature and more productive in life if we allow them to do so.

Our security under their care becomes all the more established as we realize that these people...most especially our parents, bosses, and teachers...are not out to lord over us. Despite their own weaknesses and failures, they love us, and truly desire the best for us.

Even their strictness and discipline are not meant to hurt and destroy us. These are intended to teach, correct, and train us. If we understand this, it won't be hard to cooperate with them.

*To be under authority now is to be at the top later on. " A good member is a good leader; and a good leader is a good follower." Our productivity as we grow older and more experienced will depend on the guidance of those above us. The more we follow the leaders, the better we are able to lead. The person who has always resisted authority in life cannot effectively exercise authority himself because he ot she has never really developed submission and respect.

It's true that there are many ways to the top, but the best is always assist the one above us to perform more effectively. Eventually, that authority's own success will also pull us to his level.

Do you remember what God said? @Romans 13;2,5

" Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has Instituted, and those who do so will bring judgement on themselves. Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities. Not only because of possible punishment but also because of conscience."

Whether we like it or not it is our responsibility to follow rules and regulations. Even in the office, hospitals, school, church, street, etc. It is our responsibility to follow or else we will end up in a bad situation.

Thank you for reading.

Keep safe Everyone!

Love lots ❀️

very well said.. but sad to think that those who are on authority were the ones breaking rules (and laws), though not all. and those less fortunate who are under authority pay for their misbehaviors even the slightest ones

Rules are worthy to follow if it takes an important role in humankind. However, if these rules value terrorism and violence then it's best to form a revolution and change the unlawful system.
