Thank you @bjmc98 for your sponsorship renewal! That means I can't sit on my lazy @ss. I shall put out more nonsense for the consumption of all. LOL. Thank you. Your renewal is a blessing and an encouragement. God bless you!

2700% profit in 6 months! Only possible in the Blockchain World. **8 September 2021, Somewhere in the Metaverse - UplandDood (@Just1Dood)** *Written on 2 September 2021* A recent chat with some friends at noise.cash has gotten me curious about a couple of NFTs I'd bought earlier this year and forgotten about. It was actually back in March that I'd bought these NFTs. What are NFTs? I'll not go into details about what NFTs are but here's a brief definition from Investopedia : https://www.investopedia.com/non-fungible-tokens-nft-5115211 *Non-fungible tokens or NFTs are cryptographic assets on* ***blockchain*** *with unique identification codes and metadata that distinguish them from each other.* https://www.investopedia.com/terms/b/blockchain.asp If that still sounds confusing, a simpler definition from cnn.com may clear that up: https://www.cnn.com/2021/03/17/business/what-is-nft-meaning-fe-series/index.html *NFTs transform digital works of art and other collectibles into one-of-a-kind, verifiable assets that are easy to trade on the blockchain.* **Note: You may click Investopedia and the cnn.com links to find out more.** How I found out about these NFTs I'd come across this earlier this March, though I can't remember exactly the source of the information. It was a promotional sale of Splinterlands Land Claim Sales with a 20% discount. In fact, when it was announced back then that this promotional Land Sale was happening over at AtomicHub, I'd written about it to inform my readers. Back then, I was more active over at Publish0x. It was at that platform that I'd published "Ending Soon! Splinterlands Discounted Land Sale at AtomicHub" https://www.publish0x.com/global-crypto-news-update/ending-soon-splinterlands-discounted-land-sale-at-atomichub-xgpolkn?a=zPdyP4BwbQ I'd just looked at the statistics on that article. It had 290 views in total. And I thought to myself, *if half of those who read the article had acted on the information presented,* ***they would have made a whopping 2700%*** *today*. Yes, you read right. It's an increase of 2700%! Fortunately for me, before I had posted the article, I had enough to participate in these Land Claims. I was also grateful that it was **offered through the WAX chain**. Otherwise, I'd have missed this opportunity. If the sales were on the HIVE chain as they did for the first two sales, I probably wouldn't have gone through the trouble to get any. The normal price for a Plot of Land was $20 but during this 24-hour **promotional sale, it was at $16 per plot**. I was sane enough to get 2 plots. If I was insane, I would have gotten one Tract of Land instead. One ***Tract consists of 100 plots*** *of land and was offered for* ***sale at $1360*** (which works out to $13.60 per plot!). I dared not even think about spending that amount. Thus, I was certified sane and have gotten only 2 plots instead. Let's do some math (I love this kind of math 😁): Currently, *t****he lowest secondary market value for one plot of land is $450***! That works out to **a little over 2700% increase**. Because *I was sane*, that two plots of land have given me an unrealized gain of *$868*! That's in 6 months' time! *If I was insane*, I would now have an unrealized gain of *$43,640*! Just thinking about this drives me nuts! Here's something totally out of this world. For the Whale, if he or she had bought the largest available package - i.e. the **Region Land Claim that consists of 1,000 land plots** for cool **$12,000**! No chump change there. He or she, if managed to sell all now would have made off with a cooler *$438,000!🚀🚀🚀🚀🚀* And you know what's crazier? These prices may increase further depending on how they play into the game. There's a Land Rush Is it any surprise then that besides the sold-out lands on Alien Worlds, the Sandbox Game and the Upland Game virtual land and property sales are so popular? When lands are offered up for sale in these games, you can literally see a mad rush to grab lands. **It is literally a land grab**! https://alienworlds.io/ https://www.sandbox.game/login/?r=Bj7HB4vwTKT9MY2A~H3Jq6 https://discover.upland.me/UplandDood If you have not seen one, you should check out as an observer in any of these land sales. See those virtual dots disappear in mere seconds. The Upland Game in-game USD transacted values **have surpassed $1,000,000** recently! I'd highlighted in this UplandDood Update as the game was approaching the milestone. https://noise.cash/post/9g9qqw0t0r36 And the average Sandbox lands that were s*old for around $50 in their earlier discounted rounds* of Land Sales a year ago *are now being sold at no less than 0.2 ETH for each* plot at Opensea. I'd just checked and the **latest sale was at 0.419 ETH****!** The current ETH price is slightly above $3700. https://opensea.io/assets/0x50f5474724e0ee42d9a4e711ccfb275809fd6d4a/106734 To be Sane or Not to be? This is a tough question to answer, isn't it? Remember my article on The Incomplete Idiot's Guide to "This is Not Financial Advice"? We all know too clearly that a fool and his money are soon parted. But sometimes, a fool stumbles on his fortune! https://read.cash/@Just1dood/the-incomplete-idiots-guide-to-this-is-not-financial-advice-fb05c77b This is the kind of crazy thing that can only happen in the Blockchain world of Cryptocurrencies and Non-Fungible Tokens! It is also in my opinion why many governments are trying to control it. It gives power to the individuals. Governments prefer dumbed-down citizens. But that's another article that someone can write about. Not my forte though I can see what's going on. This Is Not Financial Advice Yes, it's that disclaimer again. These types of games and purchases are highly risky. Always approach with caution. This is not financial advice. Towards a Better September Pt II - How I set my Goals **7 September 2021, Somewhere in the Metaverse - UplandDood (@Just1Dood)** *Written 4 September 2021* As I was writing Towards a Better September Part I, I'd decided to split it into a two-parter. Initially, I'd wanted to include my September Goals in that article but it'd have ended up being a long article. **I do my best to keep my articles between a 4 - 8 minutes read (i.e. between 600 - 1500 words)**. Most will be leaning more towards the lower end as I know many of my readers have a lot of articles to read daily. https://read.cash/@Just1dood/towards-a-better-september-6607086c Michelangelo's Boot (impending kick in the butt) While I was doing my Better September calendar, I'd come across a quote. **This quote was attributed to Michelangelo**, one of the greatest artists who ever graced this earth. https://noise.cash/post/5v9qj4qhwkjn It goes like this: *The greatest danger for most of us is not our aim is too high and we miss it, but that it is too low and we reach it.* This is so meaningful. Let me tell you why by showing you a few conversations I've had with @CoquiCoin. Part of that conversation went something like this: I was impressed by an almost $12 per article income. Though **part of me wanted to take that as a benchmark for this month, another part of me, the chicken part, forbade me to even think of it**. But here's the interesting thing. If you've read my **August & First BCH Report Card**, you'd have noticed that I'd committed to my August benchmark using @immaryandmerry's July results. https://read.cash/@Just1dood/heres-my-august-first-bch-report-card-its-both-red-green-cc747353 https://read.cash/@Just1dood/where-is-my-july-bch-report-card-good-question-1b399eef Both those Noise.Cash and Read.Cash figures were burned into my subconscious mind and I was aware for the most part, what I needed to achieve on the average per day. **It was these average to achieve per day that had driven me to meet my goals of reaching those benchmarks**. If you want to know if I've succeeded or not, you can read my August Report Card. In short, **I would not have achieved my August goals if I had not set those benchmarks**. Getting Booted by Michelangelo (that kick in the butt) Now, let's get back to the above "chicken me" comment. I should have known better, right? I should have a benchmark, correct? But my chicken self had me distracted from committing until I had this next conversation with CoquiCoin. This time it was on the Noise.Cash platform. I'm sure you're curious about what went on there. **Here's the conversation that had my chicken self butt kicked**! As you can see, after a little bit of nudging, **I'd committed myself to an $11 per article benchmark for September**. My chicken self is still telling me that I'd bitten off more than I could chew. *It was later in the day that when I designed the Better September Calendar that I'd noticed that quote by Michelangelo. That had without a doubt had given my chicken self a swift and forceful kick to Kingdom Come!* Moving Forward The thing is that once you've set a benchmark, it becomes easier to tweak it in subsequent iterations. I'll demonstrate it as I formulate my September benchmark for Noise.Cash & Read.Cash Total BCH Earned (excluding tips given out) in August 2021 Noise.Cash = 0.228 490 52 BCH ($146.72) Read.Cash = 0.209 879 46 BCH ($134.54) Total BCH = 0.43836998 BCH ($281.26) Based on my own figure above, I am aiming for a 20% increase. (Note: when I started punching in the figure, my chicken self was telling me to settle for 15%. But remember Michelangelo's quote? I'd upped that 15% suggestion from my chicken self to 20%.) You know what? I think at 20%, the chicken me was still having an influence. I'm gonna up it to 25%. Take that, you chicken! Lol. Here are the calculations and setting my benchmark figures. September Benchmark for Noise.Cash & Read.Cash ***Noise.Cash = 0.285 613 15 BCH ($183.40)*** ***Read.Cash = 0.262 349 32 BCH ($168.17)*** ***Total BCH = 0.547 962 47 BCH ($351.57)*** I won't be setting goals for other items and let them run as-is for another month before deciding what to do in terms of goals come next month. Closing Thoughts **The quote by Michelangelo has a big impact on my goal setting**. Setting a goal too low and reaching it is not much different than not setting a goal and any result, in the end, is acceptable. You know what people say, ***not having a target means it's a sure hit every time.*** The other factor is that I'm glad I'm experiencing *the impact of the #BetterSeptember spirit* already. If it wasn't for that, I probably wouldn't have had the conversation with CoquiCoin and wouldn't have pushed myself to set higher goals. In order for me to have a better September, I need to have higher goals. That's been set now. I'll look back and evaluate the results at the end of the month. Thank you for reading and I wish you a **#BetterSeptember**! **Sources:** Header Image designed with Canva.com templates All other images were screenshots from respective platforms **All Rights Reserved ©2021 UplandDood |** ****#ClubBrokeBCH**** https://read.cash/search?q=%23ClubBrokeBCH Thank you again for dropping by. Towards a Better September Part I - A Cheer for September **6 September 2021, Somewhere in the Metaverse - UplandDood (@Just1Dood)** *Written on 3 September 2021* The End & A Beginning Just a couple of days ago, we have entered the last quarter of 2021. **In less than 4 months' time, we'll be singing "*****Aude Lang Syne*****"**, hopefully not alone under lockdown, bidding 2021 goodbye forever. It was also a few days back that I'd written in my August & First BCH Report Card documenting my performance. Laying those results out had put things into perspective a little for me. https://read.cash/@Just1dood/heres-my-august-first-bch-report-card-its-both-red-green-cc747353 For one, it was the best month for me since joining a little more than 11 months ago. To be fair, I've only started writing consistently since the end of June 2021. Like most, a big portion of the income came from the much loved RandomRewarder and he'd only started visiting me from late July. If I didn't know any better, I'd have thought it was the Pizza that had attracted him. From then on, he'd been regular. I guessed the Pizzas served was to his satisfaction. https://read.cash/@Just1dood/rhymes-eat-time-i-eat-pizza-6714818e A need to perk up my spirit Back to the August results. This has lifted up my spirit and the possibility that it could be better...hence a #BetterSeptember. It had evolved out of a noise.cash post with @Pichi28, and became a hashtag battle cry for September. Drawing from life experience, the last stretch is always the toughest. Completing that project, working on a proper conclusion, that last mile for a marathon runner, etc. We can see the finishing line and can picture it in our minds but the thought of a little bit more left to be done to reach it can be disheartening. I have many such personal projects. They all died at the 3/4 mile. Though last month was a good month for me, it was also last month that I've personally started feeling the effect of the pandemic. There were days that I had just felt very lethargic. There was no interest and motivation to do anything. I have this strong longing to go out for a movie, a meal at a restaurant, or a cup of coffee brewed from freshly ground coffee beans in a cafe that roasts their own beans. That says a lot coming from an introvert. I have always preferred the comfort and quietness of home. For me, home is the best. It is a safe haven. **Something needed to be done to perk up my spirit**. I needed that little bit of refreshing water spray to get me going for the last stretch. More than that, **I needed those cheers to get me through to the finishing line**. A Cheer for September Out of that desire to be uplifted, I thought maybe it's **a great idea to have a cheer for September**. We can make it better. We can be more supportive. We can be more forgiving. We can be more understanding. We can be better Readers. We can be better Noisers. **We can all have a #BetterSeptember**! This led to the shameless self-appointment of the September Ambassador. You can see the self-appointment post here at noise.cash. https://noise.cash/post/vxq53grhx0vp It has also led to an initial "**so stupid, it's good***" post here on a Better September guideline by this Ambassador. It has confused some as you can see in the comments after that post. As if that wasn't enough, this Ambassador further went on to post an updated version **complete with a Better September Calendar** at noise.cash. https://read.cash/c/open-for-all-cc80/post-c96b5231 https://noise.cash/post/5v9qj4qhwkjn ****So Stupid, It's Good****: Incidentally, I'd published an article with that title on 4 September. You can look it up on your own.* In conclusion & Towards a Better September In concluding this article, I hope that we'll all cheer on one another as we sprint towards the end of the last quarter of 2021. Let September begins this last quarter with good cheers. With that, I wish everyone who has set a goal this month exceeds their expectations. So Stupid, It's Good **4 September 2021, Somewhere in the Metaverse - UplandDood (@Just1Dood)** *Written on 1 September 2021* Let's start the month off by writing something light. As much as we (but I'm excluded) love horror movies, we love a good comedy more (I'm 110% on this side of the fence). Needle in the Haystack A really good comedy is very hard to come by nowadays. It seems that people in general and writers, in particular, have lost their sense of humor. The sad fact is that there is nothing new under the sun. If this is the case, then pessimistically speaking, things only can go downhill from here or maybe it has since the dawn of mankind. Oh, it has! Blame it on the snake and the apple. I said all that to say this - it is getting harder and harder to find comedies that make me laugh. It could be that there are no longer funny or that I've grown more cynical with age. Or it could be both. Deeply inside, I long to laugh like crazy. The kind of laughter that after you stopped, others may have mistaken you for being sad. **Yes, the tears wiping type of laughter. The ROFL, LMAO & ROFLMAO kinds**. **The last such movie that had a scene that did that to me was a 2004 Chinese action-comedy movie called** ***Kung Fu Hussle***. Trust me, you don't need to understand the dialect to ROFLMAO. That's comedy in its truest form. It transforms language. It is funny without needing any explanations. It is universal. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kung_Fu_Hustle *Incidentally, the* ***Hatchet Gang*** *in the move was a referral to a historical gang that was birthed out of Manhattan's Chinatown many years back in an alley called the* ***Bloody Angle or Murder Alley*** *(supposedly the deadliest street in American history). I was fortunate enough to own a couple of virtual properties at that spot in the* *Upland Metaverse**.* https://discover.upland.me/UplandDood If you have never watched this movie, I highly recommend that you do. One scene from this movie had left a deep impression on my mind. It was a scene where the main actor was chased by the landlady. That scene had gotten me laughing until tears couldn't stop flowing. If you have a few others watching with you and laughing, the effect is compounded! If you watch it and you love the **Looney Tunes** (@tvlachak - we had just chatted about this!), you'll know why it's so funny. If you could understand the language or have subtitles, then you are in for a really enjoyable treat. Funny action sequences and witty dialogues - the perfect comedy, in my book. Not a Needle but still good Yesterday I came across a movie by accident while doing some research on the internet. The search was somewhere along the line of "**Blockbusters that bombed in the box office**". One of the results that came out was a 1999 movie called **Mystery Men**. The moment I saw that it starred Ben Stiller, I put a mental note to my movie to watch list. I'd *noised* about it here - https://noise.cash/post/x9mjw62aq367. I catch up on the news daily but watching the news daily is like watching horror clips on a daily basis. I've had enough and wanted something to keep my mind on the ridiculous. In a strange way... Watching the insane keeps me sane It was because of this that the intent to watch the **Mystery Men** had stuck on my mind and naturally came nighttime, it was *the movie* to watch. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mystery_Men The storyline was something that you'd see in a comic book. That wasn't a surprise seeing that the movie was **based loosely on the Flaming Carrot comics**. This wasn't a slapstick kind of movie. It's very different from the Kung Fu Hustle. It's the cheesy dialogue that did the trick for me. The ridiculous dialogues made me laugh. Yeah, it's that ridiculous. So bad, it's actually good. If you have not watched this movie, you may want to skip the following segment because the following segment contains... Spoilers **<Beginning of Spoiler Alert segment>** For one, the city (named **Champion City**) has an amazing superhero called - Captain Amazing. He's so amazing that there were no villains for him to bust! And due to this lack of 'appearance' he'd lost his Pepsi Cola endorsement! What I found funny were the dialogues as I'd mentioned earlier. Here are some samples of dialogues from a few of the superheroes you'll encounter: Invisible Boy: *I can only become invisible when no one's watching.* Spleen: *Pull my finger* The Sphinx, the supposedly elected team leader of the gang has the most cheesy lines: *To learn my teachings..I must first teach you how to learn.* *Learn to hide your strikes from your opponent...and you'll more easily strike his hide.* *He who questions training only trains himself at asking questions.* I mean, he has tons of such dialogues. **<End of Spoiler Alert segment>** The movie wasn't great. It was a box-office disaster making only around $33.5 million out of a budget of $68 million (*source: Wikipedia*). Beggars can't be choosers. Nevertheless, I did somewhat enjoyed that and it did get a few chuckles out of me. The search continues I'm constantly looking for **ROFLMA** type of comedy movies. If you know of some, do share with me in the comment section below. Language is not an issue. I've found that some of the funniest movies I've watched were foreign movies. After writing this article, I'd proceeded to start a channel in noise.cash to collect recommendations of **ROFLMA** type of comedy movies from readers. I hope to get some good recommendations there. In fact, I'm looking forward to foreign movie recommendations or little know funny movies. Hope to get a few to watch over the weekend. If you know of any such movies, please do recommend them on the Comedy Movies Channel. Thank you. Let it be a #BetterSeptember and a laughter filled one too. **Sources:** Photo by Michal Matlon on Unsplash https://unsplash.com/@michalmatlon?utm_source=unsplash&utm_medium=referral&utm_content=creditCopyText https://unsplash.com/s/photos/stupid?utm_source=unsplash&utm_medium=referral&utm_content=creditCopyText All other images linked directly to respective source **All Rights Reserved ©2021 UplandDood |** **#ClubBrokeBCH** https://read.cash/search?q=%23ClubBrokeBCH Thank you again for dropping by. What is Financial Freedom? Episode 3: Sustainability **3 September 2021, Somewhere in the Metaverse - UplandDood (@Just1Dood)** *Written on 3 August 2021* As with Episode 1 and 2, I'll start with some disclaimers: "*Not Financial Advice. Do your own research. All thoughts are my own. Did not run through any checkers. Definitions if any, are respectively owned by the definers and attributed as such.*" **In the last two episodes, I'd talked about Passive Income and Residual Income** and what they are. You can check out **Episode 1** and Episode 2 if you haven't already. Though I'm not a financial planner and am not giving financial advice, I do think that what I have to share is important and that if you read them, it should get you thinking about your own financial habits. I do hope that in the long run, you will be a better steward because you have spent more time doing your own research and planning because you have read these articles. https://read.cash/@Just1dood/what-is-financial-freedom-episode-1-a5664834 https://read.cash/@Just1dood/what-is-financial-freedom-episode-2-4462ebbd The first two Episodes are foundational otherwise this next point is err...pointless towards anyone's financial freedom goal. Let's continue with Episode 3 then. Financial Sustainability This is the motherlode. Yes, it is, in a sense. If it's not sustainable then don't even dream about achieving financial freedom. Scouring the cyberspace, I've found that most definition relating to this world is mostly about the environment. *This is surprising for me because if as an individual, we do not know what a roadmap to self-sustainability looks like, then we might as well forget about the bigger picture of the environment*. The best definition I can think of that fits in the series is by an organization named **humentum**. I've found this definition on their humentum.org website: https://www.humentum.org/free-resources/guide/financial-sustainability *An organisation is financially sustainable if its core work will not collapse, even if external donor funding is withdrawn.* Let me put it another way. **An individual is financially sustainable if living his/her life is not impacted, even if his/her ACTIVE income is halted.** What this means is that his/her **PASSIVE income** is generating enough to sustain him/her. But that's not all. Read on to find out. **If you're not given enough oxygen to last a lifetime, then you are screwed**. Get it? You want a lifetime's supply. A lifetime's supply is only possible through passive income. What do I mean by sustainable? Again, let me paint the picture for you. Let's use the same example mentioned in Episode 2. We are assuming you have just paid off all the loans. And we further assume that after deducting your daily and miscellaneous expenses, you still have *$1000 left*. **This is the residual income from your passive income.** You are far from financially free yet. Here's why. God forbid, let's say that all of a sudden your house roof leaks and needs repairs, and in the same month, your car windshield was damaged and needed to be replaced. Total for both emergencies totaled $1500. And you don't have any savings in your bank. Instead of having $1000 extra from your passive income, you are now *$500 in the red*. How then do we become self-sustainable that we can be considered financially free? Here are some points for further consideration. Do you have enough saved up in your account to last a certain number of months if for some reason your passive income suddenly stops? E.g. 6 months, 1 year, 2 years, or 3 years? You have to determine how long that period is for you to be comfortable. Obviously the longer the period the better. The pandemics have shown us that the normal 6 months extra is not enough. Is your residual income utilized to further generate an income for you? Are you able to utilize your free time to generate other sources of passive income? Is this source dependable on to generate an income for your lifespan? I'm sure there are many other factors to be considered but the above should be enough to get us thinking about our current situation. Ideally, to be self-sustainable, we need to have an income that is continual, expenses that are below this amount (i.e. for the most part, living below our means), and enough in reserves to ride through any storms. For some, it is a good idea to get advice from a certified financial planner. For others, it's a matter of taking time to take stock and know your position and plan accordingly. We have heard of many stories of Rags-to-Riches. Rags-to-Richest stories are usually full of success principles. But what we don't hear about are the Riches-to-Rags stories. There are probably more of such untold stories and these are the stories that will sober us up. Ironically, Rags-to-Riches will cause us to dream and the other will wake us up. What is Financial Freedom? As we can observe from the simple examples in Episodes 2 and 3, it starts with getting rid of debts. I'd mentioned in Episode 2 that the biggest investment one can put their money in is in their own debts. Paying off credit card debts with an 18% or more interest rate is better than keeping that same amount in the bank earning less than 5% at best. DO NOT LET THE BANK TAKE YOUR MONEY through credit card interests. Next is accumulating wealth. Take advantage of the compounding principles to increase your wealth faster. Never fall for shortcuts. There is no such thing as a free lunch. As mentioned in Episode 1, there is always a cost. A trade-off between time for money and money for time. The younger one starts, the better it is. But, it is never too late to start. In closing, Financial Freedom is simply the resources enough to sustain your living needs until the day you leave earth. Thank you for reading. I hope you have enjoyed this extended 3 episodes series. As you'll see again in the disclaimer below but I do hope this will get you started on building your way towards a financially free life! Here's a short guide from the September Ambassador. Read this post for the background details - https://noise.cash/post/vxq53grhx0vp 1. Always remember to include the hashtag (#) 2. Be careful of the spelling. It's not #BeattheSeptember! We don't want to be beating anybody, least of all September. It's also not #BatterSeptember though you may be excited about baking in September. But if you do bake, let us know. We'll all come partake and celebrate a #BetterSeptember with you. 3. Be upbeat. Be nice. Be encouraging. Be an Ambassador for September. Don't be a chicken. It won't be better if we just sat on out butts singing Kumbaya. 4. Any questions, please leave in the comment section. The Ambassador will get back to you ASAP. After he's done giving out the September calendar and signing autographs.
What is Financial Freedom? Episode 2: Residual Income **2 September 2021, Somewhere in the Metaverse - UplandDood (@Just1Dood)** *Written on 3 August 2021* Previously on Financial Freedom... As with Episode 1, I'll start with some disclaimers (for the complete disclaimers, please read Episode 1): https://read.cash/@Just1dood/what-is-financial-freedom-episode-1-a5664834 "***Not Financial Advice. Do your own research.*** *All thoughts are my own. Did not run through any checkers. Definitions are respectively owned by the definers and attributed as such.*" **In the last episode, I'd talked about Passive Income** and what that is. It is important that you understand that before reading this. You can check out Episode 1 if you haven't already. Let's continue with Episode 2 then. Residual Income From the same Investopedia site that I'd derived the definition of Passive Income in Episode 1, Residual Income is described as such: *Residual income is not exactly a type of income but* ***a calculation determining how much discretionary money an individual or entity can spend*** *after paying their bills and meeting their financial obligations.* [*I have briefly touched on both Passive and Residual income in my article "**Are you a good steward of your bank?* *You can check that out if you like. A good read, if I may do a little shameless self-promotion. LOL."*] https://read.cash/@Just1dood/are-you-a-good-steward-of-your-bank-46f421c6 In my opinion, if one's aim is to be financially free, this Residual Income, though not an income per definition, is as important a factor as Passive Income that I'd spoken about in Episode 1. **Just because I am generating a Passive Income does not mean that I have enough to live off of**. This may come as a surprise to you. I don't blame you because of all the hype about earning a Passive Income. Let me elaborate so that it is clearer. If my passive income is $2000 per month, that may sound a lot, and looking at that it may seem that it's enough for me to live on. But if I have the following monthly expenses: $1200 mortgage loan repayment $400 car loan payment $200 student loan payment $200 utilities (electricity, water, gas for car, phone bills, internet) I am then only left with $100 to survive on for the month. That's the residual income. Is that enough to retire on? If it's not enough, then we are far from being financially free. Let's assume that the above describes your income situation. Does that mean that **if you're unable to increase your passive income further then you'll never get to enjoy a financially free life?** **Not necessarily.** The road to reach that goal is a long one but it is a process and a journey. Here's why. See three of the four main expenses mentioned above? **Three out of the four are loans.** Loans mean that the total amount will be knocked down as you continue with your payments over time until such a time where you have paid them all off. The good news is that one day, these will be paid off. The other good news is that due to the different tenure of your loans, some will be paid off earlier than others. Let's further assume that your student loan will be paid off in another year. At the end of that year, you'll have ***$200 extra***. And **once all your other loans have been paid off, you'll have a total of $1800 discretionary income (residual income) at your disposal.** *Since we're on the topic of loans, let's side-track a little. Many of us thought that the extra we have at the bank earning a 3-5% interest is helping us build our net worth. But what we don't realize oftentimes is that we have a debt (credit card comes to mind) that's costing us at least 18% in interest. You do the math. Should you leave that* ***$200 extra*** *in the bank generating 3-5% interest or should you use that to help knock off more of the 18% interest debt?* If you're living below your means, then you are on your way to being financially free. If you're living way below your means, then the extra discretionary income can be used to strengthen your financial position. Yes, I know the above is a very simplistic way to look at things but the basic concept and understanding are all there to spark a deeper thought into how you can work your way to being financially free. Here's a sobering thought. **Even though you have achieved a comfortable residual income that is derived from your passive income, you are still far from being financially free.** We will have a look at that in the next Episode. Thank you for reading. Stay safe and see you in the next part. [***This is not financial advice. It is the writer's personal viewpoint. Please do your own research.***] **Sources:** Header: Unsplash.com - **Jingming Pan** https://unsplash.com/@pokmer Image 1: Unsplash.com - **Kelly Sikkema** https://unsplash.com/@kellysikkema **All Rights Reserved ©2021 UplandDood |** **#ClubBrokeBCH** https://read.cash/search?q=%23ClubBrokeBCH Thank you again for dropping by. Thank you @AmazingWorld for your sponsorship renewal! God bless you and may you be showered with lots of BCH this September.
Here's my August & First BCH Report Card. It's both Red & Green. **1 September 2021, Somewhere in the Metaverse - UplandDood (@Just1Dood)** *Written on 31 August 2021* I'm starting to write this even though the month hasn't technically ended yet. I want to be prepared with all the necessary "bones" for the article and then add the "flesh" on 1 September 2021 before I publish it. This way, it's still in agreement with my Article Bank intent and gives me time to review one more time before publishing tomorrow. https://read.cash/@Just1dood/bank-of-articles-why-i-use-it-you-should-too-5c3a9e54 *Even though I'd started in this platform 11 months ago, it was only near the end of June 2021 that I'd started getting engaged and being consistent in my publication at Read.Cash and postings at Noise. Cash.* The idea of starting to write a monthly report card started after July due to reading many reports. I wasn't ready to put out any report in July because I wasn't organized and tracking any data. That's why I had written "Where is my July BCH report card? Good question!" I'd shared how I chose the benchmark for me to follow in that article. https://read.cash/@Just1dood/where-is-my-july-bch-report-card-good-question-1b399eef I do believe that writing a monthly report is a good way to measure and document my own progress. You know - "**What gets measured gets improved"**. This phrase was attributed to **Peter Drucker**, a management guru. Though the exact phrase was "**What gets measured gets managed**" **August serves as the first month I start measuring** some data for **my BCH journey at Read.Cash and Noise.Cash**. The rationale I used for the few data point is that they play a role in my BCH accumulation. Just publishing articles at Read.Cash and postings at Noise.Cash does not guarantee **meaningful** earnings of Bitcoin Cash. But without articles or postings, it is much harder. Articles/Postings **Read.Cash** - 26 Articles (Goal met) I don't publish articles on Sundays. Meaning I have hit my target of publishing one article each day except on Sundays. I'll list this as a record at the end of this article so won't' be inundated with links here. And you have the option to skim through later. **Noise.Cash** - Unknown I have no data to collect and counting them would be too tedious and unproductive. So, I'll leave this without any figure. Off the top of my head, I'd say I have probably an average of no less than 5 posts per day. Subscribers **Read.Cash** - 81 I didn't have a snapshot at the beginning of the month but I did have **61 subscribers on 15 August 2021.** Since we can't have a fractional subscriber, that's **an average of 1 additional subscriber per day**. **Noise.Cash** - 542 Again, I didn't have a snapshot of my subscribers total at the end of July but I do have **a snapshot on 3 August 2021. It was 301 at that point**. That's **an average of 8 subscribers per day**. I think that's not too bad. I'd say that overall, I'm happy with my progress in both platforms though I wish to do better at Read.Cash. Only Applicable on Read.Cash Read.Cash: Sponsors 15 Wonderful Sponsors (I recommend that you check them out and engage with each) Thank you @Eylz2021, @Bloghound , @Pichi28 , @ARTicLEE, @emily2u, @MegaKyodaiBanrai, @immaryandmerry, @Samantha-Smith, @CoquiCoin, @AmazingWorld, @bmjc98, @Jane, @snapping.turtle, @Codename_Chikakiku, and @kli4d Without your sponsorships and encouragement, this would have been a harder journey. Thank you for making it fun and motivating for me. **You ROCK!** I didn't have a figure from the beginning of the month although on **9 August 2021, when I published** **An Odd Ode: To my Sponsors - Current & To-be****, I have made a specific short write-up for each of my 12 sponsors** there. https://read.cash/@Just1dood/an-odd-ode-to-my-sponsors-current-to-be-d8dbbe35 **I currently have a total of 15 Sponsors**. The lastest was today (31 August 2021!). Not a spectacular performance in terms of numbers but many of the current 12 sponsors had increased their sponsorship amount this month. That is a good indication and encouragement for me. Read.Cash: Sponsoring 14 Total Writers (+ One unconfirmed) I don't have any data at the end of July so I'll just have to make do with starting the data collecting starting this month. If I recalled correctly, there were maybe 6 or 7 at the beginning of the month. It was also near the end of July that the RandomRewarder had started visiting me and as a result of that and the generous sponsorships from my sponsors, I've decided to pay it forward. Currently, **I am sponsoring a total of 14 wonderful writers**. Read.Cash: Tipping On **19 July 2021, I was ranked at 101**. I don't have any record of my ranking at the end of the month. $29.26 (Currently Ranked 40) https://read.cash/ratings/tippers I'm happy with the amount I'm tipping. **It's almost 18% of my earnings**. BCH Record BCH from Noise.Cash 0.228 490 52 BCH ($146.72) That's an average of 0.006 990 81 BCH ($4.73) per day I think that's **not too bad for micro-blogging and sharing my thoughts**. *If you want a piece of this action,* ***I invite you to use my link to get started -*** ***Join Here*** ***to start earning your BCH!*** https://noise.cash/u/UplandDood BCH from Read.Cash (*Note on image capture above: It was captured almost 13 hours after the end of the month so I'll use the $134.54 figure stated below to be consistent with all the other data*) 0.209 879 46 BCH ($134.54) That's an average of 0.006 770 30 BCH ($4.34) per day I think that's also not too bad. *Again, If you want a piece of this action, I invite you to use my link to get started -* *Join* *Here* *to start earning your BCH! It's a different sign-up as the above.* https://noise.cash/u/UplandDood https://read.cash/r/Just1dood Total BCH Earned (excluding tips given out) Noise.Cash = 0.228 490 52 BCH ($146.72) Read.Cash = 0.209 879 46 BCH ($134.54) Total BCH = 0.43836998 BCH ($281.26) August Evaluation: Some Red & some Green! Since in the "Where is my July BCH report card? Good question!", I'd mentioned that I'll follow @immaryandmerry's July results as my August benchmark, I have exceeded the result for the Noise.Cash BCH benchmark if we use the $ comparison (by $17.28) but short by 0.010 078 27 BCH. https://read.cash/@Just1dood/where-is-my-july-bch-report-card-good-question-1b399eef As for Read.Cash results, I was way short of the benchmark. Short by $61.78 or by 0.151 946 88 BCH. **Comparing to the total benchmark that I'd set, I was short by 11.5%**. I look forward to a great September. Giving myself one more month to meet and/or exceed this benchmark! Watch out September. Here I come. Thank you for reading. What is Financial Freedom? Episode 1: Passive Income (with end credit easter egg) **31 August 2021, Somewhere in the Metaverse - UplandDood (@Just1Dood)** *Written on 2 August 2021* This series of 3 episodes have been sitting in my Article Bank for a while. As you can see, this one was written almost a month ago. It's just that I haven't found the appropriate time to post them. And also I have other articles written later that were more timely for publication. https://read.cash/@Just1dood/bank-of-articles-why-i-use-it-you-should-too-5c3a9e54 Since I'd posted The Incomplete Idiot's Guide to "This is Not Financial Advice" yesterday, I thought today may be as good a day as any to post this series. https://read.cash/@Just1dood/the-incomplete-idiots-guide-to-this-is-not-financial-advice-fb05c77b However, there will be a gap tomorrow as I've planned to post my very first monthly report tomorrow. Last month I tried to get my feet wet by posting Where is my July BCH report card? Good question! https://read.cash/@Just1dood/where-is-my-july-bch-report-card-good-question-1b399eef Anyway, if you like the First Episode of this series, then do check back two days from now for the continuation. Disclaimer **Since the word "Financial" and "Freedom" is displayed clearly and glaringly in the title, I feel the need to start this article with a disclaimer**. "*No financial planners were harmed in the making of this article. I couldn't afford to find any to harm. With the limited budget, we got stand-ins. To be safe,* ***do not take what they say as Financial Advice****.*" In case the above wasn't clear enough, let me repeat the "**Wet Paint**" warning again. "**Do Not Touch**" and... "***Not Financial Advice. Do your own research.*** *All thoughts are my own. Did not run through any checkers. Definitions are respectively owned by the definers and attributed as such.*" I think we can proceed now. Aren't you glad I didn't put the disclaimers above in fine prints? This editor wouldn't let me. No such option. Count yourself lucky. Passive Income The definition given by Investopedia for Passive Income is as follows: *Passive income is earnings derived from a rental property, limited partnership, or other enterprise in which a person is not actively involved.* It's really simple and the term is self-explanatory. It is just that - **An income that is derived passively**. Though the definition is simple, pinpointing exactly what it is is not. In my opinion, **there is no such thing as getting an income without any prior input.** That input can be in the form of finances or time invested. It's always a **trade between time for money or money for time.** Let's ask ourselves a question in order to get a better grasp of this. Do you think that Blogging will help you generate a passive income? My answer is - Yes and No. Each sponsorship above is a form of passive income. But it'll stop sooner or later if I stop writing. **If you need to keep on working and writing, then no. It's not a passive income.** You are still working for your income. As mentioned in the above paragraph, it will stop, if I stop writing. However, if the article that you have written is monetized and is an evergreen article, meaning it's timeless and has information that readers are looking for, then, the answer is yes. All you have to do is write it once, and it will generate an income for you without further effort. In another word, passively generating an income. If we look at the Investopedia definition again, you will notice that it doesn't say no work or effort is required. Take for example rental a property. Does the property fall out of the sky onto your lap, so to speak, and all of a sudden you can start receiving an income? Think of the effort and time and sweat and risk put into acquiring that property. Even after you owned that property and assuming it's been fully paid off, if you are unable to rent it out, you are still not enjoying a passive income. Passive income is like that elusive pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. But the good news is that unlike that pot of gold, passive income is achievable. But not without proper planning and much hard work. The same train of thought applies to the business alluded to in the same definition above. Time and effort are invested in the business in order that it grows to a point where no more personal time and effort is required for it to generate a sustainable income. I put "sustainable" because even though no time span is mentioned in the term Passive Income, I'd assume that all would like it to be somewhat "permanent" in nature and not for just one month or one year. I mean, if it's not sustainable, then what's the point of a Passive Income, right? In short, my understanding of **a Passive Income is that it is an income that is generated with minimal or without further input by the recipient and that this income is recursive in nature**. For many, **traditionally the easiest way to generate a Passive Income is to put your money in a time deposit or fixed deposit.** Depending on the amount of money committed, then the interest generated from that may provide you with a truly passive income. To be continued... This is a big topic and has to be broken down into multiple parts. I'm not sure how many parts yet as the remaining have not been written. One thing is sure, it'll be at least two. Duh. Yeah, cause this one isn't finished so there will be at least the next one. [Update: as of 31 August 2021, the publication date, there are 3 episodes]. Please, please understand that this is not a research paper nor is it a thesis. It is written purely based on my opinion and what I think should be common sense, which isn't common, and hence presented me with the opportunity to write this. Thank you for reading. Stay safe and see you in **Episode 2** the day after tomorrow (barring any unforeseen circumstances). [***This is not financial advice. It is the writer's personal viewpoint. Thank you @Codename_Chikakiku! I'm very grateful for your sponsorship renewal! Made my day. God bless you. Have a wonderfabulous day!
The Incomplete Idiot's Guide to "This is Not Financial Advice" **30 August 2021, Somewhere in the Metaverse - UplandDood (@Just1Dood)** *Written on 29 August 2021* (Please DO NOT take this seriously. Or maybe you should. It is a light-hearted look at what we are all so familiar with.) I've been working on my trading portfolio all day. I think my mind is going bonkers looking at the figures. In fact, I think it has affected my sanity because just now when I typed the above "*Written on*" date, I'd put **2019** as the year before I quickly deleted and thought for a second and corrected it to **2021**! LOL. **Since there's a derivative "Finance" word in the title and later, "Cryptocurrency" related words in this article, I'm obligated to start with a disclaimer**. But before I do that, I'm sure when you see someone write about **cryptocurrencies** (*See? It's that word already. I don't disappoint*) and **investment** (*See? Another of those words that needs a disclaimer*) and **recommendations** (*Oh, this is a biggie that definitely needs a disclaimer*), etc, you'll instantly know that those are **not "Financial Advice"**, correct? The thing I can't figure out is if that was the case, then why the need for a disclaimer? Any person **not under the influence of** **FOMO** (Fear of Mission Out) or **FUD** (Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt), would know that **none of the articles they read online are financial advice**. If you want to have financial advice, would you get it from text messages or from Facebook or from articles you searched from Google results? That was a rhetorical question. It shouldn't surprise you then that in a recent article on cnbc.com, "*26% of Americans say their most trusted source for financial advice this year is a financial advisor*"? https://www.cnbc.com/2021/08/28/americans-are-changing-who-they-turn-to-for-financial-advice.html **The second highest percentage comes from those choosing themselves as the most trusted source** (*if there ever was a blind leading the idiot, this is it*). That stands at 20% as compared to 30% from last year according to this same article. I wonder why the drastic drop from 30% to 20%. Do you want to take a guess? Maybe it's the same reason why articles I mentioned earlier need to keep blasting the "NOT FINANCIAL ADVICE" statement on these kinds of articles. People tend to follow them despite the warning and end up getting burned and then become next year's cnbc.com statistics. One year is plenty of time to get burned in the fast-moving cryptocurrency trading universe. Actually, you don't need a year. Just a few minutes is enough to add to next year's statistics. The First Kind of Idiots I know one is born every minute but you don't have to be that one people talk about. (*though I hate to admit it, I have been one*). Even if the article does not state very clearly "Not Financial Advice", please don't be that idiot to take it as such. Geez, spend some money and get a proper Financial Advisor. If anything goes wrong, at least it has been explained very clearly to you before you sign on the dotted line, right? If what you sign doesn't tally with what was promised, then you know at least you have a chance next door. Yup, the law firm. The Second type of Idiots Alright, let's flip the coin and talk about the other kinds of idiots. If you present your article in such a way that it sounds and looks like a piece of investment advice with all the colorful charts and trading history with recommendations...hey, my point is that if it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, there is only one conclusion. It is a duck, even if it denies that it is one. Then do you think that "Not a Financial Advice" holds any water? Maybe it does. I don't know. I guess only a court of law can determine that. Again, if you are not under the influence of FOMO or FUD, then you know better than to trust an unlicensed and certified duck! Be smart and know your ducks. It'll save you a lot of heartache and money down the road. Don't be the First type of Idiots I don't know about you but I don't scour the internet for financial advice. That's a sure recipe for a major disaster. I hope you don't either. I do, however, do research. If it were left to me, it'll be analysis paralysis. I analyze it to death and in the end, still can't make any investment decision. Welcome to my world. To me, it's really simple. The moment I've made a purchase, I'll have a 50/50 chance in the investment. It'll either go up, or it'll go down. If I hold it longer, then those upwards and downwards journeys are dragged out. Can be days, months, or years. I'll get a final answer once I decide to liquidate. (*I hate the word liquidate. It sounds like it's all melted and gone.*) If I'm an el-cheapo by doing self advise, then I bear the full risk. No one else to blame but myself. If you must know, yes, I do 'invest' in a few different cryptocurrencies. Have I been successful? I can't say. But I have not lost everything. Sometimes analysis paralysis helps. I research a cryptocurrency to death and I'll know it well enough to determine whether it's a good long-term hold or if it's a gamble. If it's a gamble, then I'm prepared to lose it all. You'll always hear this - never invest more than you can afford to lose. **I think that's pure nonsense**. I can't afford to lose anything. Can you? But **IF** it's a gamble, then though I can't afford to, I'm **prepared** to. Look, if let's say I spend $30 per month on Starbucks and Junk Food. I can afford to NOT have $30 spent on Starbucks and Junk Food for a month in order to put that in a cryptocurrency. I still can't afford to lose it but I'm willing to consider having my 'imaginary' Starbucks and Junk Food for that month if I do lose that $30. Get it? If I'm no el-cheapo and am willing to pay to get good financial advice, then I should get a Financial Advisor with a proven track record. Problem solved. Don't be the Second type of Idiots Do I write about cryptocurrency? I'm not well-versed in the subject. But as you can read from the above few paragraphs, I do dabble in them a bit. Does that make me an expert? Nope. Does it give me enough of an idea to write about it? Sure, since they'll be my opinion. If I do write, I'm not gonna write like I'm doing a full-blown technical analysis with a clear indication of where I think the cryptocurrency price will be in the future. **I don't have the crystal ball nor the technical expertise** to do so. Some of you may. I will surely **NOT give my recommendation** to buy or not. Even so, I can share about my dream of it shooting to the moon, can't I? I mean, we can all dream, can't we? Thank God, we are all Wise Since you are reading this and I'm writing this, I guess we all know our own capacity. We are all wise enough to make our own choices and decisions. I hope that you, as have I, learned to be vigilant and careful in the crypto-verse. **Logic should prevail over emotion**. Paying a Financial Advisor should prevail over risky free articles on the Internet, especially if you are thinking of investing your life savings. Thank you for reading and please kindly take note that... THIS IS NOT FINANCIAL ADVICE DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH I'm not done I know many of us are stubborn and take disclaimers for granted. I really think that "**Not Financial Advice**" does not deter anyone from taking them as such. Let me put things in perspective. Imagine this ridiculous analogy. Let's say you're comfortably seated in an airplane excited for it to take off and take you to your destination. And you can hear over the inflight PA system the following announcement: "*Welcome aboard. This is* ***UplandDood speaking from the cockpit****. I am still doing some preflight checks but here is an update on the destination weather. It is warm and comfortable (huh?). But temperature may go up or down depending on where the cool front blows. Eating is a Private Affair (Rated R for disgusting eating content) **28 August 2021, Somewhere in the Metaverse - UplandDood (@Just1Dood)** *Written on 15 August 2021* Today is Sunday, 15 August 2021. I don't post on Sunday but I do my best to write. When I do write, I'll also document the date that I have started writing the article on. A few days ago, I'd read an article written by @Olasquare who mentioned attending eating/dinner functions. In that article called "One Last Time.", he'd mentioned how he's a private person and how he tries to avoid attending weddings whenever possible. https://read.cash/@Olasquare/one-last-time-51eb1177 After having read his article, I'd commented that I too am a very private person and prefer to stay at home, rather than attending any functions, especially one that involves eating in front of strangers. I mentioned that **eating is a private affair** for me. Let me illustrate further my point of view. **Do note that a lot of the examples I shared below are more country and/or culturally specific. Some of you may or may not identify with what is shared.** Food Event-Related Pet Peeves 1. Unwanted Sprinkles Lots of things revolve around food. One such common example is the milestone we create to mark our yearly birthdate. Yeah, you already know what I'm getting at. Usually, the mark of that occasion's success is how many people we can get to come over to eat our cake with us. This is always accompanied by the dreaded (at least for me, it is) compulsory birthday song followed by candle blowing by the birthday culprit and sometimes with a few accomplices. **I think this pandemic will change this tradition forever.** I, for one, am glad for it. It would be so rude to refuse a "sprinkled" slice of cake. But accepting one means the mental torment of consuming it. The only things I want to be sprinkled on my slice of cake are chocolate flakes. Nothing else. 2. Cutleries Common Pool As we all well know, when eating in a public event, we are at the mercy of the event organizer or the catering provider. We have no control over what is served, what utensils are provided, and quite frequently, who sits at the same table. For western events, it's more bearable as most sit-down dinner-type events involve set meals served individually. In other cultures, it may not be so. The servers will place a few different shared dishes at the center of the table. These are mostly round tables, with 8 to 10 strangers sitting around. Once the dishes arrive, the waiter blows the white and ... guys, it is a free-for-all grab. (I'd added the whistle-blowing part for added dramatic effect. LOL). If for whatever reason (whether due to cultural practice or not), **no common utensils** were provided for each of these shared dishes, then you're in for a "treat". Though the food diminishes with each scoop, do be mentally prepared to accept generous contributions from each stranger's own spoons and forks when they dip into the dish. *Right. Remember watching those CSI episodes where they use the black light to shine on stuff to find blood splatter and DNAs? Yeah, if you did there here, I can guarantee you'll find plenty of DNA contributions.* Those unfortunate ones sitting with close relatives or "extra" friendly strangers may get an additional bonus. Your relative or newfound buddy may generously use their personal (well used) spoons and forks or chopsticks, to start scooping dishes for you! I can tell you that if you were the recipient of this donation, you'd rather just slide down your chair and disappear under the table, never to be seen again. 3. Inter Diner Ballistic Missiles Once in a while, you'll meet one who can never stop talking, even with the mouth full. Again, you already know where I'm going with this. If I encounter such a person at my table, I'll be at DefCon 1 readiness. Here's a definition of DefCon 1 taken from the militarybase.net site. **You can tell that I'm at full alert.** If I see any projectiles flying into any of the dishes or worst, into my plate, because this fella couldn't stop talking, then I'm out of there in a jiffy! No question about it. No amount of BCH could convince me to stay. Well, maybe that's not exactly true. We can discuss more on this. I may just be cheap enough to be bought. I mean, we're talking about BCH, after all. LOL. The Aftermath Usually, after these dinners, everyone still hangs around. I mean, the table is empty. You see scattered few pieces of leftover vegetables on the plates. Maybe in some cultures, you'll see what's left of a fishbone on a large but otherwise empty plate. You get the picture. Combine this image with that of each diner sitting in front of their battle-worn plates. Pieces of unfinished meats, vegetables, and bones. Possibly some tissue papers hiding some unfinished foods. Now, the crazy part is that the dinner is essentially over but all the diners are still sitting there looking at each other and looking blankly at the aftermath of the dinner. I look at you. You look at me. We look at the table that's full of left-over. We look at the exit. I look at my nails. Yeah, you better not be looking at my nails unless you want to have that fishbone in your face. Like idiots, we sit around as if we were school children waiting for the bell to ring to signify that school is over and we are dismissed. I'd love to come, but I'm out of town Now you can see why I say that eating is a private affair. I prefer to eat alone or with immediate family members. I want to have some level of control over what I put into my mouth. I don't like additional ingredients 'freshly' added after the chef's done with it. I'm glad that I live in the boondocks. It is easier for me to give an excuse when invited. I'd love to come, but I'm out of town. As I'd mentioned at the beginning, eating is very cultural and the types of dinner and/or eating events we all go to may differ. Though they are exaggerations, I wonder how many of you can identify with what I shared above. Thank you for reading. **Sources:** Header Image: Photo by Ross Sokolovski on Unsplash https://unsplash.com/@ross_sokolovski?utm_source=unsplash&utm_medium=referral&utm_content=creditCopyText https://unsplash.com/s/photos/eating?utm_source=unsplash&utm_medium=referral&utm_content=creditCopyText Image 1: Photo by Nathan Dumlao on Unsplash https://unsplash.com/@nate_dumlao?utm_source=unsplash&utm_medium=referral&utm_content=creditCopyText https://unsplash.com/s/photos/birthday-party?utm_source=unsplash&utm_medium=referral&utm_content=creditCopyText Image 2: Screenshot from Google Search (militarybase.net site) **All Rights Reserved ©2021 UplandDood** NoiseCash: **UplandDood** https://noise.cash/u/UplandDood Twitter: **UplandDood** https://twitter.com/uplanddood Publish0x: **UplandDood** (link takes you to site. Dear Readers: How can you Read & Comment MORE efficiently? **27 August 2021, Somewhere in the Metaverse - UplandDood (@Just1Dood)** Written 25 August 2021 (Yes, same as the day where I said I didn't have anything to write but now have written two articles). The first one, I'd published yesterday. It's called "Another One of Those Days: How I Push Myself to Write." https://noise.cash/post/r3wp9z3s50gz A few Facts **Fact**: *I am always on the move and looking for the most efficient and time-saving ways to do things.* **Fact**: *I don't always discover how to do this on my own. Certain ones, unless someone shares them, I may never discover them or it may take me a long time to discover them on my own.* **Fact**: *You are now in a hurry to read through this and evaluating if it's worth your time to continue.* **Fact**: *I'll make it easy for you. I'll make this very brief. It should also help you here as a reader.* Reflect on Your Current Process **Think about how you normally read an article here**. Think through your process, all the way to the end, including leaving your comments. Do you think that you are doing it efficiently? If not, do you think you can improve on the efficiency in how you read and leave your comments? If you can't think of any, fret not. Let me share with you what I do. I have discovered this by chance though I can't recall exactly how. Reading **Scanning through an article is not necessarily a bad practice**. Some people are able to read faster than others. They may scan through and yet be able to capture all the pertinent details. Others, may not. You have to determine which category you fall under and adjust your reading habit accordingly. Enough about reading. We move on to Commenting. Commenting **The normal practice for most people is to start commenting after reading**. There is nothing wrong with that. That was what I was doing initially. It makes perfect sense. It's very linear and logical in getting things done. However, can you remember how often you have to keep scrolling back up to remember the point you want to make a comment to? Very ineffective and time-consuming, isn't it? Despite that, I still follow this flow at certain times. That depends a lot on what kind of article I'm reading. I'll touch on this point further down the article. Is there another way to comment? Let's find out. Reading & Commenting & Reading & Commenting, etc Sounds strange when you read the heading for this section, doesn't it? How can that be efficient? Well, if your intention is to scan through and leave "*I like that story*" or "*Nice article*", then this does not apply. Anyone could put those same comments without even reading anything. How's that for fast? This is a surefire way to irritate the writer and you can be sure you'll be ignored. Though some nice writers may reply with an obligatory "*Thank you*". If you are active in Noise.Cash, you know what I'm talking about. Plenty of people does that there. Sometimes I won't know how to respond as their reply to my post doesn't make any sense at all. Back to this section's heading. How do we do that? If you are thinking of reading then scrolling down to make a comment, then scroll back up to continue reading, before down again to make comment, etc, I can tell you that this will drive you crazy. What I do is this (assuming you are on a laptop or desktop environment): Open the article I have chosen to read. Duplicate the same tab. Move the page all the way down to the comment section in this second tab. Go back to the first tab and start reading the article. Find an interesting idea/topic/part that I'd like to comment on? Stop briefly. Go to the second tab and type my comment. (If needed, I'll also quote the segment of text from the article I'm commenting on) Go back to the first tab and continue reading the article. Found another idea you'd like to comment on? Go to the second tab and continue with your comment. And so on and so forth until I have finished reading the article. End with any additional comments that I have and click reply before closing off both tabs. I find this way most efficient for me in reading and leaving comments immediately once something catches my attention. As I'd mentioned earlier, this may not always be the case. It does depend on the type of articles I'm reading. There are certain articles where nothing stops me in the middle to make a comment. In such instances, I'll just finish reading the article before leaving a comment. There are also other instances where I do not have any idea what to say. If that's the case, I'll just upvote and leave a tip. Spirit, not Law It is easy for us to fall into the trap of taking something word for word. The above is a suggestion to assist. It doesn't mean that you must follow or that if you do follow, you must follow the exact steps. **Follow the intent, not the letter of the law**. If you could tweak it to work for you, go ahead. If for some articles, this doesn't work, then don't use it for that particular article. Thank you for reading and I hope that this has been helpful for you. **Sources:** Header Photo by Maarten van den Heuvel on Unsplash https://unsplash.com/@mvdheuvel?utm_source=unsplash&utm_medium=referral&utm_content=creditCopyText https://unsplash.com/s/photos/readers?utm_source=unsplash&utm_medium=referral&utm_content=creditCopyText **All Rights Reserved ©2021 UplandDood** Thank you again for dropping by. Another One of Those Days: How I Push Myself to Write. **26 August 2021, Somewhere in the Metaverse - UplandDood (@Just1Dood)** Written on 25 August 2021 MYLA (*Note: I'll not spell them out for you what the acronym above stands for. But I'll say this: the first two words stands for Move Your ...*) It's another one of those days that the motivation to write isn't there. Come to think of it, I believe it's more of the fault of my **lazy bones**. The had started late and I've had some errands to run and when it's time to sit down and write, the mental energy wasn't there. I'm sure many of you have been there. Do I have topics to write about? Yes, sure I do. But most of these need more energy to write; meaning these are not topics that will flow as I type. It will need a lot of deep thoughts and reflections in order to produce a decent article. Today is that kind of day that I don't feel like thinking too deeply. Do I have articles that are ready to post? Yes, I do. I have a few, including a series of 3 articles that I'd completed about a month ago. That does not mean I can rest on my laurels. If I do, it becomes a habit. https://read.cash/@Just1dood/bank-of-articles-why-i-use-it-you-should-too-5c3a9e54 Do I have articles to complete? In fact, I have a series that I'd started two weeks ago. One article is done and a second is near completion. I could complete it but I think the mistake would be to do that when not fully inspired to do so. That is why I'm thinking of writing something else. I'm sure many of you can identify with me there too. What's the issue then? The issue here with me today then is that I'm **too lazy to work on deep subjects** that tax my brain. Instead, I can probably push myself to write something that I can pick from experience with greater ease. This is what I will do. I'll give myself a little push... What's Pushing Me? Commitment to Write "Feel like" - that's the problem. If we go by our feeling all the time, then most times, we won't get anything done. There are times where the **commitment** needs to carry the weight to push us through. I believe a lot of musicians, athletes, and any professionals would tell you the same. And today, I'm writing because I'm driven by my commitment to write on a daily basis. The good thing for me is that I do have some breathing room as I have articles that I have yet to post. However, I make it a point to push myself a little harder, especially on days that I don't "feel like" writing. Such as today. I'm glad I gave myself a little nudge. Because of that, I'm already halfway through an article documenting my reluctance to write! Focus to Post I'm **very clear** about what I want to achieve in August. None more clear than having posted **one article per day from Monday to Saturday, with Sunday being a rest day**. Truth be told, this was the only clear focus I have for August. I'll write more about this in my first ever Monthly Report! You can say that a clear **Focus** is the other aspect that helped me push through my reluctance to write today. For me, Focus can be on one aspect of many other objectives. I'll likely take on more aspects of this focus as I progress in my writing journey but for now - **Focus** for me is what I'd mentioned above. Promise to Readers One more aspect that has gotten me to write today is that I have made a promise to my readers. That promise is based on my **Commitment to Write and my Focus to Post**. There will come a time, my readers will know my routine and when I post articles. I **DO NOT** want to disappoint by not being able to produce as expected. ***This is especially true with my commitment to the following wonderful sponsors:*** However, this promise should not be an empty promise. What I meant by that is that I should not write for the sake of writing. There must be **some element of entertainment or some concrete learning points** or both that my readers can glean from reading my articles. This is not always an easy feat but we all know that nothing is impossible if we put our minds to it. I also believe writing is like that. There is a wealth of information in our minds alone that we can draw on to write about. This article is one such example. (*Updated on 26 August 2021: My little push to write yesterday has resulted in me completing this article. But not only this article. I had in fact completed another after this one! I'll post that second article tomorrow. Other older articles in the Article Bank will have to wait for their turn.*) Thank you I appreciate your spending your time accompanying me today. I plan to make this short. As a reader, I do know that we appreciate short articles once in a while. Thank you for reading. I appreciate you. Have a great day! **Sources:** Header Photo by Tanja Cotoaga on Unsplash https://unsplash.com/@tarafuco?utm_source=unsplash&utm_medium=referral&utm_content=creditCopyText https://unsplash.com/s/photos/ugh?utm_source=unsplash&utm_medium=referral&utm_content=creditCopyText **All Rights Reserved ©2021 UplandDood** Thank you again for dropping by. Up and About in Amsterdam **25 August 2021, Somewhere in the Metaverse - UplandDood (@Just1Dood)** *Written on 24 August 2021* This is a continuation from the following UplandDood's timeline: Destination UK: Prelude to 1 BCHClub Party with 2 DJs https://read.cash/@Just1dood/destination-uk-prelude-to-1-bchclub-party-with-2-djs-9a9ca045 Destination UK: 1 BCHClub Party with 2 DJs. It's party time! https://read.cash/@Just1dood/destination-uk-1-bchclub-party-with-2-djs-its-party-time-75b5663c I'd woken up in Amsterdam! https://read.cash/@Just1dood/id-woken-up-in-amsterdam-17aee694 Castles and shrooms in Amsterdam... part 2 by @Eylz2021 https://read.cash/@Eylz2021/castles-and-shrooms-in-amsterdam-part-2-12bd2b54 Note: It's still a mystery how UplandDood ended up in Amsterdam. He has no recollection of what had happened after he had "passed out" in his hotel room after the **1 BCHClub Party in London**! https://read.cash/@Just1dood/destination-uk-1-bchclub-party-with-2-djs-its-party-time-75b5663c Regardless, he is hoping that continuing his stay in Amsterdam may jolt his memory back. His story continues... Day 5: Chocolat! The ladies had wanted to indulge in some premium chocolate. Well, except for **Pichi** but she doesn't have a say in it since she's outnumbered. Me? I have no problem. This renowned chocolate establishment also offers locally roasted coffee there, so I'm good. Besides, they've agreed to have pizzas later in the day. So, off we go to **Chocolátl**! Less than 5 minutes after we've arrived, I could see that **Bloghound** and **Eylz** were already enjoying eating the gourmet chocolates and sampling as many types as they could. However, **Jaytee**, **Expe**, and **Marinov** were busy buying chocolates like they were suppliers buying stock for their Chocolate Emporium back home in **the Philippines**. I can't wait to see how they plan to get all those chocolates back to the hotel! *Side note: Here's something funny. Though Pichi didn't like chocolates, we find it funny that she'd somehow found this chocolate design at one obscured corner cabinet and had wanted to buy it:* Pizza Heart Bar The name definitely sounds better than another pizza place I know. With a name like **Pizza Heart Bar**, it must be ***THE*** place for pizza lovers! Someone, I won't say who had wanted to order pasta. Before I knew it, I had blurted out, "***NO!*** *This is not Pasta Heart Bar! It's Pizza Heart Bar. Order Pizza.*" I was caught off guard for saying that. Didn't know I feel so strongly about pizza! LOL. Then my **Marvelous Pizza-man** alter-ego took over and proceeded to order **10 pizzas** for everybody. It was simple to get the order done. I told the waiter, "give us your 10 best-selling pizzas" and that was that. Unexpectedly, **Pichi** had challenged me to finish **4 large ones**. Well, the **Marvelous Pizza-man** would never decline a **Pizza challenge**. So the **Marvelous Pizza-man** replied with much confidence, "Challenge accepted"! When the pizzas arrived, the **Marvelous Pizza-man had conveniently disappeared**. Nowhere to be seen or heard. I was left to fend for myself. **I did my best but the most I could finish was the equivalent of 4 extra-large slices**. I was so full, I had to roll off my chair. I couldn't stand up straight! I told them that I had to rest and stretch my legs a bit so that some pizzas can fill up my toes. We had a good laugh. That was a great lunch. LOL. Museums The remaining of the day was spent visiting two museums - **the Geelvinck Pianola Museum & the Torture Museum**. The Pianola was an interesting museum. I won't talk much about it since **Eylz** has described both clearly in her account of the visits. As for the **Torture Museum**, I wasn't a fan of gore so it didn't appeal too much to me. I was looking forward more to dinner at **a unique place**. Could be an interesting new experience for us. https://read.cash/@Eylz2021/castles-and-shrooms-in-amsterdam-part-2-12bd2b54 The Restaurant that has no Lights For first-timers, it can be quite daunting. No phones allowed and dining in total darkness. While the ladies have their concerns, I too was filled with thousand and one fears. *What if I poke my eyes with the fork? Who'd pay for the damage?* *Do they put decorative flowers on the table? If they do, what if I accidentally ate that?* *What if I fumbled and spilled drinks all over the table?* *Would I mistakenly drank someone else's drink or ate someone else's food?* *Would I accidentally eat the bones I've left on the table?* *What if I choked? Would anyone else know?* Then the mischievous part of me was thinking: *I wonder if I threw my food across the table, would someone yell? Would be fun to catapult some pudding off a spoon!* *Or if I start sprinkling drinks all over? Nobody would know who did it anyway. It's all dark.* *Or if someone gets slapped halfway eating a meatball or something. That would be funny. Now, I was worried someone might slap me and I wouldn't know who. LOL.* All kinds of crazy thoughts went through my mind. Yeah. Confront our fears. We'll find out soon enough what we're made of. I can tell you this - it was really a neat experience to go through. But I don't think I'll have the stomach to go through it again. I'd put some round squishy things into my mouth. Then there was something that's a bit chewy and tough. And something that felt like vegetables but unfamiliar. I mean, I have a very creative mind. Who's to tell if they hadn't recycled their foods, eh? Ewe. **It was a long two hours of suspenseful eating**. Never thought I could use "suspenseful" to describe a having meal. Would I recommend it? Yes, if you've never tried it before. My advice is don't do it on your own. You must have a group of friends to experience it with. It helps take your minds off the food and more on the fun part of it. With friends, you can joke and laugh nervously as you put the next unknown spoonful of edibles into your mouth. And if you get slapped, you'd know one of your friends did it! LOL. Day 6: An Efteling Adventure We had planned to have breakfast together at the hotel before going out. **Eylz** has planned a fun-filled day for all of us at a theme park. How fun! It was a surprise last day outing. She wouldn't tell us where but when we arrived, we were like kids. You can tell we were all very excited! https://www.efteling.com/en/park The ladies have decided to enjoy the view while riding on the theme park's Gondoletta. I've decided not to and it's a 20 minutes ride, so we made plans to meet in 30 minute's time at the entrance to the **Spookslot haunted house**. I was there early and had a quick look around the attraction. I don't have a strong stomach for horror or spooks so when they arrived, I asked them to go ahead without me. Next, we have decided to try **the Baron 1898 Dive Coaster**. All I can say is **WOW**! **This is something you have got to try if you ever visit this theme park**. Part of this ride's attractions includes, amongst others, **a 37.5 meters into a smoke-filled pit, an Immelmann loop, a zero-gravity roll, and a 360° Helix**. We were all screaming our heads off from the first drop all the way to the end of the ride. We tried our best to maximize our time at the theme park by hitting as many of the attractions as we could with the last being the **Aquanura Water Show**. A befitting end to a fun-filled day. It was a great day and definitely one to be remembered. Since it was late, we've decided to head straight back to the hotel and have our dinner there. We had dinner at the hotel's **Restaurant De Palmboom** and after dinner adjourned to the **Pastorie Bar** where we ordered cocktails and chatted over the events of the past few days. The next day, all of us checked out at the same time. **After thanking Eylz** **for organizing such a wonderful fun-packed itinerary**, we bid farewells and went our own ways. **Sources:** Header Photo Image - **Radisson Blu Hotel Amsterdam City Center** https://www.radissonhotels.com/en-us/hotels/radisson-blu-amsterdam All images linked directly to sources **All Rights Reserved ©2021 UplandDood** Thank you again for dropping by. I'd woken up in Amsterdam! **24 August 2021, Somewhere in the Metaverse - UplandDood (@Just1Dood)** Written on 23 August 2021 Day 1: Woke Up in a Hotel Room! I could not explain it but I found myself waking up in a strange environment. Instinctively, I glanced over at the side table of my bed and saw that it's 6.18 PM! I was in an unfamiliar room with some light seeping in through the curtains. I staggered out of bed and pulled open the curtain. I looked out and saw something like a clock tower. The surrounding architecture was very European. In fact, it's very Dutch. Without giving it further thought, I went into the bathroom to freshen up. As I came out of the bathroom, I saw a compendium on the study desk. It has the **Radisson Blu Hotel** word and logo on it and next to that is a **Radisson Blu Hotel Amsterdam -** ***Welcome to Blu leaflet***. It then dawned on me that I'm in the City Center Radisson Blu Hotel. https://issuu.com/cphz4/docs/178604-amszh-nb18-hb-ebrochure I could now vaguely remember planning on meeting some friends here. Since it was almost dinner time, I've decided to get cleaned up and go out to get something to eat. I left the room and found out from the front desk that there's a steak house called TER Steakhouse Restaurant. It's located just around the corner from the hotel, less than 300 meters walk. As I turned around from the front desk and was about to head out the front door, I saw @Eylz2021, @Bloghound, @Pichi28, and @Jaytee headed my way. Ah, now I remembered. I was supposed to meet them here. Quite unexpectedly, right there in the hotel lobby, Bloghound started rapping! he gives his street a shake and laughs until his belly aches dood's on his way, taking sounds break of distant waves and birds awake As I was still out of my element, I could only cusp all the fingers on my right hand and bring them close to my mouth. Dumbfounded but sane enough to say, time for me to get something to eat. That was an unexpected response from me and we all burst out laughing! We chatted a bit more in the lobby before I went out for my dinner. Not before we had set the time to meet up at the lobby tomorrow morning. Day 2: Hash & Height The Hash Marihuana & Hemp Museum Of course, the first place they have decided to go was Hash Marihuana & Hemp Museum. Before we went in, I warned the ladies: Don't take any srooms in any of the rooms or you'll go boom flying off on a broom! They laughed but I doubted if they had taken me seriously. I was serious though. I could remember clearly that I'd told them that before the visit to the museum. They can't stop giggling. I do suspect they have bought something from the gift shop that has had an impact on their behaviors. You'll have to ask them. They won't tell me. Instead, they thought that I was the one who's had srooms. LOL. **A'DAM Lookout** The next destination planned by Eylz2021 was the **A'DAM Lookout at Buiksloterweg**. Swings at the top of a 22nd-floor building? I told them, "*thanks, but no thanks*". I didn't come all the way to Amsterdam to die in Amsterdam! I'd opted for the **Amsterdam VR Ride**. Well, if I were to die riding in a VR ride, then so be it! https://www.adamlookout.com/wp-content/uploads/vr-ride-900x450.jpg After the ride, my head was spinning. The ladies have decided they wanted to stay at the rooftop longer but I've decided to head back to the hotel. I don't want to risk walking around on the rooftop with a dizzy head. Do you get what I mean? After confirming time to meet up in the hotel lobby the next morning, I left them to enjoy the rooftop! Day 3: Windmills, One More Windmill & Beer, then more Beers! Zaanse Schans & **De Gooyer** Personally, I don't see what's so exciting about windmills. I guess if you're in Amsterdam, that's something you have to do. Otherwise, the visit is not complete. After oohing and aahing for a few full minutes, accompanied by plenty of picture taking, the ladies decided they didn't have enough windmills. Off we went to **De Gooyer** for one more windmill. No complaints from me this next stop, cause right next to it is the **Brouwerij 't IJ Brewery**! Alright, ladies. All is forgiven. Redlights & Goodnight! The last stop was the De Wallen Red Light District. I have no idea why the ladies were so excited. I was more excited at the Craft Beer breweries in the area. LOL. But I'd misestimated my alcohol tolerance. I'd had a little too much at the **Brouwerij 't IJ Brewery** so I couldn't sample more at this location. Again, I had to leave earlier as I wasn't feeling too good. I blame it on the windmills. Those big turning fans made me dizzy! I bid the ladies a good night and headed back to the hotel on my own. Day 3: Very Hungry & Don't mind me taking this bread! I really didn't have much to share about this day aside from the fact that I was really hungry the whole day. That's because I'd woken up late in the morning and had missed breakfast. Coupled with not having dinner the night before, I was really famished. Today's agenda was to see castles! The whole trip to the first stop at Muiden, my stomach was rumbling! The ladies were busy chatting so I don't think anyone heard my stomach complaining. I was glad that there was a **cooking demonstration going on at the Muidenslot Castle** at that time. While the ladies were busy taking photos, I moseyed over to where the foods were! Next to the demo table, there were some invitingly delicious bread and sandwiches. When no one was looking, I helped myself to some! Actually, I thought I saw a little sign that says, "Help yourselves". LOL. I found out later that it was a cooking **demonstration by Siebren Houwer who was not only a historian and tour guide but also the castle's chef**. The bread that I had tasted was his **famous beer bread**. https://muiderslot.nl/en/stories/cooking-and-more/ **I can tell you that the whole time at this Castle, De Haar Castle, and Doornenburg Castle, the ladies were in imaginary fairylands**. How could I tell? No one mentioned anything about breaking for lunch! Before we knew it, it was evening! I had to say something before my stomach rebelled. I could almost see those imaginary "fairyland dream bubbles on top of their heads burst!" Alright, all of them are now back on earth. Time to head back to the city to have a proper meal. Day 4: Say Cheese I'd found out that this day's itinerary involved eating cheese. Despite being very tired, I had decided that this was something not to be missed. Indeed it was well worth the time. Cheese and wine pairings. It was just perfect! https://res.cloudinary.com/https-www-isango-com/image/upload/f_auto/t_m_Prod/v1575957108/europe/netherlands/amsterdam/igigafteuvna8zrtwoto.jpg The ladies have decided to go biking after that. I'd decided it's best for me to head back to the hotel to rest. Besides, I'd some writing and lots of notifications to clear and messages to respond to. To be continued... Destination UK: 1 BCHClub Party with 2 DJs. It's party time! **23 August 2021, Somewhere in the Metaverse - UplandDood (@Just1Dood)** Written on 22 August 2021 This is a continuation from Destination UK: Prelude to 1 BCHClub Party with 2 DJs https://read.cash/@Just1dood/destination-uk-prelude-to-1-bchclub-party-with-2-djs-9a9ca045 Preparation It's a Saturday morning, sometime in December 2021! Today is the day for the big party. It's the Bitcoin Cash Family Reunion Party. I have a heavy responsibility to carry. Well, half of the heavy responsibility to carry. I am comforted that **MoreGainStrategies** will probably be carrying the weight of tonight's Deejaying. I have communicated with him and discussed my idea of what to do. He is in agreement and I will come up with the song lists and the records needed for the night. https://read.cash/@Jane/out-of-paris-off-we-go-to-meet-the-bch-community-ce30fc5c Meanwhile, the equipment needed for a good night's calisthenics is being worked out. Anyway, these partier goes think they'll be dancing but little did they know that they'll have a **heart-pounding, sweat-drenching workout tonight**. A chat in noise.cash with my friend **@tvlachak**, a while back provided the details I needed for the set-up. https://noise.cash/post/1m368n96 Here it is if you're thinking of doing a party of your own: A laptop with a selection of songs you plan on using A Numark Mixtrack Pro II That's essentially all that's needed. I'd asked @Jane to ensure that they have a great sound & lighting system set up at their rooftop with **enough speakers to broadcast to the whole neighborhood and lights to brighten up the whole sky**! LOL. Since I was responsible for the songs, the whole morning I ran through my laptop to ensure that all the songs I'd planned for are available. After 30 minutes of checking and arranging - check. That's done. A call to the concierge to check if there's a Deejay equipment rental place and if he could assist me to secure a unit of **Numark Mixtrack Pro II** to be delivered to the event location. No less than 20 minutes later, Watson from the concierge called and said it's done! Talk about service. First-class! Interlude The rest of the afternoon went by quite fast. I'd stayed in my room and ordered room service. Didn't want to get distracted by going out. After lunch, I went through the song lists one more time. Checked with **Jane** if the equipment has arrived. Once I was certain all things were okay to go, I took a short nap. I knew it'll be a long night. I want to be well-rested. This kind of party doesn't start before 11 PM! At around 4 PM, I'd ordered another afternoon tea set since I did enjoy the one I had yesterday. I'd ordered a smaller portion as I want to have something to eat before going. No idea when I'll be able to eat once I arrived. Better be prepared since I have a history of gastritis pain. A quick shower after that and after putting on some loose-fitting clothes, I was on the way out the door of my room. In my excitement, I'd almost forgotten two important items - **my laptop and my cap**! On the Way At the concierge, I saw Watson and he greeted me. He asked, "*Are you going for an evening jog carrying your laptop, sir?*" I laughed and said I'm headed to a party and that's why I'd asked him to help me rent the deejaying equipment earlier on. I can tell he had wanted to ask more questions but refrained. I'd be curious too if I were him. I thanked him again for arranging the rental and handed him a tip as a token of appreciation. I told him the party location address and asked him to call me a cab. Not more than 10 minutes later, the cab arrived and I was on the way to the party location. **Jane was at the ground floor entrance to meet me**. She then took me to the rooftop where the party will be held. When I reached the rooftop, I saw that **MoreGainStrategies was already at the Deejay station looking things over**. He saw me waved. I waved back and quickly rushed over with my laptop so he can plug it into the rented Numark mixer which was otherwise ready to go. We went over our plans for the night and I showed him where all the songs were found on my laptop. He's a natural. In no time, we could hear music playing over the speakers. I did a rounding to check all speakers. The sounds were perfect and the speakers were also spaced out perfectly! The dance floor lights were also working great, including the two smoke machines. Vodka Sunset On my speaker inspection round, I'd passed by the bar counter! Saw someone was busy mixing and I just had to introduce myself. Found out later that her name was **BSzandra** and that she'd volunteered to do the mixing for the night. I said, "*Wonderful. You mix drinks and* ***MoreGainStragies*** *and I mix songs.*" We laughed. I asked if she could make us a "**Vodka Sunset**" later. She looked at me blankly. I explain to her that it was an inside joke with another writer friend as a result of not having ingredients for a "**Tequila Sunrise**". I suggested she could try making one for **MoreGainStrategies** later. I said just mix **Vodka, Espresso, and Coke**. The ratio is up to her but needs to have a kick plus a punch! **I told her I'd love to see MoreGainStrategies' expression when he takes a sip of that**. LOL. By 9 PM the parties were starting to warm up. We can tell all were having fun. There were still some who were watching by the sideline. **By 10.30 PM, MoreGainStrategies and I looked at each other and we knew it was time to take it up a notch**. No one will be spared. It's not acceptable to us that someone ends up not having fun that night. No one will be allowed to watch from the sideline anymore. The Show has started! "***Everyone on the dance floor, NOW*** **!**", **MoreGainStrategies** asserted through the mic. I was taken aback! I wasn't expecting the "**NOW!**" in the announcement. LOL. It must have been the effect of the **Vodka Sunset**! But it effectively got everyone onto the dance floor. Well, almost everyone. You could see that@Bloghound, @Jaytee, and a few others were trying to hide behind some plants but when they saw **MoreGainStrategies**' stares piercing through those plants' leaves, they sheepishly got onto the floor. Although @Eunoia, @ARTicLEE, charmingcherry, and aminul were helping to take photos, they knew that they too have to get onto the dance floor! "*Alright, the night is still young and we have all night! We'll start with the 60s!*" With that, he put on "**The Twist**" by **Chubby Checker**. https://youtu.be/im9XuJJXylw This first song has really got the party going. It was funny. **The dance floor was so packed that it almost looked like they were 'sword fighting" with their legs and roller derby elbowing with their arms!** What a sight to behold. After the song had ended, we did it again since everyone, including those who'd tried to hide earlier, was having so much fun and one time didn't seem to be enough. Party animals! We played a few more songs from the 60s before moving on to the 70s. Going through two decades of songs didn't tire anyone out. Everyone was still on the dance floor. Then we moved into the best decade. The 80s! "*Are you game for some fun?*", I asked. The answer was a unified and resounding, "**YES!**" "*Great. You asked for it!*" I said. "*We're gonna play the next song and will do a few stops in the middle. Once the music stops, you MUST be frozen in your post. Got it?*" Again, it was another resounding, "**Yes!**" Almost as soon as they answered, **MoreGainStrategies** had already queued the next song to be played. It's "**Walk Like an Egyptian**" by **The Bangles**. https://youtu.be/Cv6tuzHUuuk Everyone was going crazy. All were experts in their own version of the Egyptian walk! Then without warning, the music stopped! The whole dance floor froze with giggling but frozen Egyptians! Then all of a sudden, everyone burst out laughing, when their eyes saw @Eylz2021 and @Pichi28. They were the perfect Eqyptians. If there was an award that night for poses, they would have won it. (Does anybody want to offer BCH awards here?) The music started again and everyone was back to their walks! The next time the music stopped, all eyes were immediately on the Eqyptian duo! **They did it again!** The same perfect posts! LOL. Everyone just couldn't contain themselves any longer. You can hear the laughter and applause all over the place. Here's another fun song we did. No party is complete without playing "**Macarena**" by **Los del Río**, of course. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Los_del_R%C3%ADo It was impressive that most know instantly to line up once the music starts. But none were as fast as George_Dee, King_Gozie, mommykim, @Sequoia, @kingofreview, @Codename_Chikakiku, @ExpertWritter, @immaryandmerry, @Hart05, crazyrichfilipina, and @emily2u. They were all lined up with military precision before the first note had even started playing. So professional! LOL. The line dance was something to behold. I'd say "almost" better than what's shown in this video: https://youtu.be/zWaymcVmJ-A We cruised through the rest of the 90s, 2000s, and 2010s. By the time we hit the current dance music, it was already 4 AM. For the last song, we think it's fitting that we play "**It Must Be Love**" by Madness, a song from the 80s. The perfect message to end the night with. The love message for Bitcoin Cash! With that, we ended the night and after some assisting in cleaning up, we chatted a bit before parting ways. I thanked **MoreGainStrategies** for carrying the weight of the night and that I'd learned a lot from him. I managed to call my hotel to arrange a cab to pick me up to send me back to the hotel. By the time I reached my room, it was almost 5.30 AM! Forget showers, I was too tired. Off to bed, I went. Slept like a log. **Sources:** Header Photo by Erik Mclean on Unsplash (cropped by author) https://unsplash.com/@introspectivedsgn?utm_source=unsplash&utm_medium=referral&utm_content=creditCopyText https://unsplash.com/s/photos/night-party?utm_source=unsplash&utm_medium=referral&utm_content=creditCopyText All images linked directly to sources **All Rights Reserved ©2021 UplandDood** Thank you again for dropping by. Channel Your Dream **21 August 2021, Somewhere in the Metaverse - UplandDood (@Just1Dood)** Written on 21 July 2021 Just to be clear, this is not a new age or transcendental article. It's a play of words that will become apparent later on in this article. If you can't accept that, now is a good time to exit. Dream - The Definition Oh, still here? Great. Let's start. In actual fact, I have no idea why I'm writing this since I'm not an expert on Dreams. What I do know is that they hold significance and most probably trying to tell us something. As you can see from the above image (taken from Google search); there are two definitions for the word "dream". I'll be touching on the first definition. It's the movie or clip played out by your mind during your sleep. I don't have proof but I'd venture to guess that dreams have been baffling or intrigued (depending on how you look at it) since the dawn of time. I'll not be surprised if some of the cave paintings were records of our forefathers expressing some of their dreams. Why do we dream? It is not the scope of this article to answer that question. You will, however, be able to find many sites that touch on this topic. I will say though that, dreams occur during our REM sleep stage. That's short for Rapid Eye Movement stage of our sleep. Without going too much into it, I believe you should be able to observe this in your pets if you have any. That's the stage where they seemed to be moving their legs, presumably chasing something or being chased by a predator. Sometimes, you'll see them acting like they are having a huge buffet feast. Lapping it up with such intensity. I can share this with such details because I observe these almost on a daily basis on my pets. There were so exciting that I wish I could see their dreams. Understanding Dreams Again, it is not the scope of this article to interpret dreams. However, I do have this to say - dream intrigues us and we yearn to find its meanings. Because of this, I'm sure it's no surprise to you that there are studies dedicated to understanding them and attempts to interpret them. You can Google to find all the links and read to your heart's content. It is understandable that it is normal for humans to be drawn to what we don't understand and want to make sense of it. But I guess I'm not a normal human because I'm not like that. Yes, I'm curious but I may not be obsessed with finding an answer. Maybe that's just my personality. However, that is not to say that I'm not intrigued by my dreams. I'm not sure how many of you can recall your dreams every time. I hardly ever remember them. Once I wake up, it's gone. I have no recollection of having ever dreamed. On very rare occasions, I do remember them. Do remember my collection of sponsors! Do check out some of their crazy articles. You can always pick the titles that grabbed your attention. I can guarantee that there will be plenty! Channel your Dreams Two such unique occasions happened one after the other in the same week. That was slightly more than a week ago. Those dreams were so clear that I could still remember them this week. One was a strange kinda futuristic dream and the second was a funny oral hygiene dream. I have no idea why I had these two dreams and remembered them. This was when I have decided to start a dream channel at noise.cash. It is called "Share your Dreams" just to document these two dreams. I have documented these two dreams there. Do check them out. https://noise.cash/c/share-your-dreams-7kl5vzn1 Invitation to share Do feel free to share your dreams there, however weird. Okay, please make it PG-rated. Yeah, you know what I mean. Other than that, please do share your funny, sad, horror, dramatic dreams there. I'm curious. I'm sure there are others who are curious to read them. Once in a while, it's good to take a break and read something that may not make logical sense. Other Channels In a blink of an eye and it's been a month since I had written this and not published it. Since writing this article, I'd gone on to start a few other channels of which a few more fun ones are Back to the 80s, and 1990s: nineteen nineties. Come and see how many of the posts there reminds you of your childhood. https://noise.cash/c/back-to-the-80s-zml2n02l https://noise.cash/c/1990s-nineteen-nineties-v4l3g6xl Thank you for reading, stay safe and see you in the next article. **Sources:** Header: Unsplash.com (Cropped) - Armand Khoury Image 1: Own image (Captured from Google Search) Image 3: Own image **All Rights Reserved ©2021 UplandDood** Thank you again for dropping by. I finally managed to slowly chip away at some of my notifications and guess what I found? It's @Bloghound! Thank you for increasing your sponsorship! Give some time and I'll do a rap for that! LOL.
Remember me: I'm Your window to the world. **20 August 2021, Somewhere in the Metaverse - UplandDood (@Just1Dood)** First, an update On 18 August, I'd written an article as a result of being tagged. That article was posted yesterday but it was only a "Prelude" to the actual event. There is a follow-up (to be continued...) piece but I haven't the time to write that yet because I'll be busy the next two days. https://read.cash/@Just1dood/destination-uk-prelude-to-1-bchclub-party-with-2-djs-9a9ca045 Due to this, I'll be posting from my Article Bank for the next two days. Let's start. https://read.cash/@Just1dood/bank-of-articles-why-i-use-it-you-should-too-5c3a9e54 Getting Moldy Today is Saturday, 14 August 2021. It is just like any ordinary day. Sitting around doing nothing, chilling as usual. It is really unlike any other day. Nothing much is happening. Well, that is about to change. Being locked up at home during the pandemics has somewhat taken its toll on me. I'm getting moldy! I need some sunshine. I need to see the blue sky, the green mountain, the flowers, and anything little things that catch my eye. I look forward to going out. As I'd said, it's been a while, so every view seems fresh! Taking my time to take in all the details. Let every single ray comes through my view and gets registered in my memory. I'm soaking in every second of it. The sky seems bluer. The sunlight caressing the clouds displaying the positive vibes of silver linings so strikingly. I thought I noticed a slight rainbow arch smiling down on me. Let me stop and imprint that in my memory. It is not often that one sees a rainbow in the sky, however small. A Natural Couple Looking far into the horizon, the blue sky and the green mountains seem like a perfect match when illuminated by the dazzling all-pervading sunlight. **A perfect picture of a couple locked together forever, in light and in darkness**. As I walked about, something caught my eye. Though I wasn't on a birdwatching expedition, something eerily familiar stopped me on my track. **Birds that were frozen in time**. I just had to get closer to have a look. Green ones, yellow ones. I'm taking them all in. Since flowers are a popular topic, I'd decided to be on the lookout for some in the surrounding area. After all, there is still the danger of the pandemic lurking everywhere so not venturing too far away and staying close by is a good idea. A Hairy One Not too far away, something hairy got my attention. On closer inspection, it looks like a flower. I wasn't sure. Some of these have attracted ants, so it must be a type of flower that attracts ants and insects to help propagate itself. I make sure I have a good look at the hairs. A Protruding One A few steps away, another weird-looking display of nature had distracted my focus on the current hairy attraction. This time it was something sticking out from a thick bush of green and it's all red! Again, on closer look, I noticed ants busy scurrying around on it. So, again, I deduced that it's a flower based on the same argument applied to the hairy flowers. Let's Call It A Day Not wanting to be exposed too long to the outside world during the pandemic, I've decided to call it a day. That was enough excitement for a day. The matching couple, frozen birds, hairy and long protruding flowers - that's a lot to take in for a day. That should be enough memory to satisfy me for at least a period of time. Snap, Snap! Thank you for following my adventure today. I'm the window to the world. **It has been my privilege to be your camera today**. I want to help you capture moments you treasure. Do remember to take me out again soon. Don't let me gather mold. Thank you for reading. It's been since school days since I'd written something like this. Do you remember such writing exercises? Writing from the perspective of a daily used item? **Sources:** Header Image: Photo by Gabriel Tenan on Unsplash https://unsplash.com/@tenans_?utm_source=unsplash&utm_medium=referral&utm_content=creditCopyText https://unsplash.com/s/photos/window?utm_source=unsplash&utm_medium=referral&utm_content=creditCopyText Image 1: Photo by Ross S. on Unsplash https://unsplash.com/@ross_s?utm_source=unsplash&utm_medium=referral&utm_content=creditCopyText https://unsplash.com/s/photos/green-mountain?utm_source=unsplash&utm_medium=referral&utm_content=creditCopyText Other images are my own **All Rights Reserved ©2021 UplandDood** NoiseCash: **UplandDood** https://noise.cash/u/UplandDood Twitter: **UplandDood** https://twitter.com/uplanddood Publish0x: **UplandDood** (link takes you to site. Destination UK: Prelude to 1 BCHClub Party with 2 DJs **19 August 2021, Somewhere in the Metaverse - UplandDood (@Just1Dood)** Written on 18 August 2021 Though what I'm doing is 3 years before the actual date, I'd decided to do a recce before the actual event. You see, I've taken on a challenge that a friend, @tvlachak had made as a result of his Back to the 80s post on Breakdancing. It came about because he mentioned that **Breakdancing** will be an event in the **2024 Olympics in Paris**. A challenge was thrown out for the **breakdancing duel of the century between @tvlachak and UplandDood in front of the Eiffel Tower or Arc de Triomphe**. Maybe we'll do it at both venues if we get enough sponsors. https://noise.cash/c/back-to-the-80s-zml2n02l https://noise.cash/post/lj3mngp7 So, I thought, why not do an early recce of the place first. Scout out the best spot and angles to get the upper hand. LOL. I hope he doesn't read this to find out my secret plan. It may be a little early to do a recce but I do plan on arriving early with family in 2024 prior to the Olympics to do another round of checking. I'd decided to stop over in England to meet relatives and a few friends. I've heard that a whole gang of ReadCash veterans and members of the elite **1BCHClub** had invaded Paris and now London! Since they've already left Paris and are now in London, this would be perfect. I'll just send a message to say hi and then go about my business. I found out that there would be a 3-day overlap in our schedule. I wasn't planning on staying long in London. Just swing by, sort of an extended transit, and get on my way. Once I had touched down at the London Heathrow airport, I'd shot off a short message to **@Jane** to say, "Surprise! I'm in London on a layover". Didn't want them to feel obligated to have to meet up since I have no idea how tight their schedule would be and also due to my short stay. Besides, she did mention in her message that that morning a few of them were busy looking at a place to accommodate the whole gang. But she did ask how many days my layover was gonna be. Oops, the cat's out of the bag. I told her that actually, I'll be there for 3 days. She then asked where I will be staying. I told her, I'll be staying at the **Sunborn London Yacht Hotel**. She then texted me the address where they will be staying. Looks like it's close to my hotel. She then asked if I've any plans for the next evening. I said not yet. That "not yet" had landed me in hot soup. She said if I'd mind coming over to be one of the DJs. She said **MoreGainStrategies** will be the other DJ. Since I didn't have any plans, I thought, well, why not? And so the lid to the hot soup was sealed! Unbeknownst to her, I have no idea how to be a Disc Jockey. How hard could it be, right? When I agreed, I was multi-tasking. Typing messages and clearing customs at the same time. (*Self note - never multitask when making an important decision*). Since the day was still early, I'd planned to check-in, and rest a bit before meeting up with one of my relatives here. I'd chosen the place where I put up for the few nights to be a little different from what I'd done when I travel. I'd chosen to stay on a yacht. Yes, eccentric but it was a novelty. It is close to the river. That's an understatement if there ever was one. This floating hotel is moored at the Royal Victoria Dock. This dock was at one time the largest of three royal docks in England. How's that for "close to the river"? https://www.sunbornhotels.com/london/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2020/07/Hotels-Near-Excel-London-1946x696-copy-1946x696.jpg I won't bore you with all the details of this choice of accommodation but you can Google and find out about its facilities and stunning rooms (aka cabins). By the time I reached and had checked in, it was close to lunch. Instead of going out, I've decided to order room service and let that be a time to relax and for soaking in the river view while I enjoy my lunch. As I wasn't too hungry, I've decided to have their Afternoon Tea Set. After all, the Brits are known for enjoying their afternoon teas so it is befitting for me to start my stay here with one. LOL. https://www.sunbornhotels.com/london/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2019/01/London-Afternoon-Tea.jpg In any case, that's quite a bit of carb-loading and has gotten me drowsy. After a quick shower, I'd decided to take a short nap to get recharged before meeting my cousin for dinner. Those of you who've followed me and read my articles for a while now will notice one thing - it's that I'm a very private person and though I do write a little about my life, I don't write much about myself or my "personal" life or about my loved ones. In keeping with this tradition, I won't be sharing much about my outing with my relatives. But I will say this though, he did ask me where I'd like to have dinner. I have this philosophy that the best way to know a place is to eat what the locals eat. And the best way to experience this is through street foods, of course! After I've made known to him my desire, and since it's a **Friday evening**, he suggested we meet up at the **Hackney Central station** Amhurst Road entrance at 7 PM. We'll be going to have street food at the **Hackney Night Market at Bohemia Place**. https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/5bfc17bbe17ba3b1460497f3/1621342389278-TYH70WAPWBNY85I3QMGW/NIGHT+MARKET+FRIDAY+Post.jpg?format=1000w I love to explore on my own so after agreeing, I did some updates on my laptop and checked the best way to get there before heading out. I found out that there was no direct public transport from the nearest station, which is the Leslie Road/Custom House Station. In order not to be late, I've decided to get the hotel concierge to call a cab for me. Fifteen minutes after the call, at 5:55 PM, the cab arrived. By the time I arrived at the Hackney Central station Amhurst entrance, it was already 6:50 PM. Five minutes later I saw my cousin waving at me. After the normal pleasantries, we immediately headed across the road to Bohemia Place. https://img.evbuc.com/https%3A%2F%2Fcdn.evbuc.com%2Fimages%2F138743379%2F307483646561%2F1%2Foriginal.20210615-090020?h=230&w=460&auto=format%2Ccompress&q=75&sharp=10&rect=0%2C0%2C800%2C400&s=7e20634a114e5b6515e903379972cd8e It was already bustling with hungry souls! I've had nothing since my afternoon tea and am famished. We quickly decide to get into the first place that served... Food https://tse4.mm.bing.net/th?id=OIP.Sr0DN8vUcuSM-Dgy_NJmZQHaEK&pid=Api and Craft Beer https://tse3.mm.bing.net/th?id=OIP.0D93sgxMTK0VKQGWjmIzSAHaHa&pid=Api ...and Artisan Cocktail! My Review I can tell you this: Except for the recognizable burgers and fries, I have no idea what beers I've drunk and definitely no idea what any of the liquid from the artisan cocktails were made of. I did have a few. They were that good! It was past 9 PM after we were done with the food and drinks. It was the drinks that took up much of our time! LOL. Before I ended up sleeping on the street of Bohemia Place, I'd asked my cousin to call me a cab to take me back to the hotel. By the time the cab arrived, it was close to 9.30 PM when we parted ways. The next thing I knew, I was back in my room. It was already 10.30 PM. Though my head was spinning a little, I managed to take a quick shower before going to bed. Tomorrow's gonna be another busy day. I'll need to spend some time planning for my important responsibility of putting on a good show. Even though I have no idea about how to be a DJ, I do know that it involves lots of songs. I'll need to put a good list so that these 1BCHClub members can really let their footloose! But the thought that MoreGainStrategies will be there is comforting as I know that he is an expert in music. To be continued... **[Updated on 23 August 2021: Continuation has just been published - "****Destination UK: Prelude to 1 BCHClub Party with 2 DJs****"]** https://read.cash/@Just1dood/destination-uk-1-bchclub-party-with-2-djs-its-party-time-75b5663c Also, do read Jane's "Out Of Paris, Off We Go To Meet The BCH Community". "Thank you sis @Eylz2021! I saw thattttt! Waaahh" <---- I'm plagiarizing this. Yeah, I saw that too! LOL. Thank you! Thank you!
ReadCash Writer's equation: When Adding = Subtracting **18 August 2021, Somewhere in the Metaverse - UplandDood (@Just1Dood)** *Written on 10 August 2021* The title sounds awfully like an equation, doesn't it? Don't let that scare you off. Hang around a little while longer. If you are like me, you hated math or maths (depending on which side of the English divide you're championing). Regardless if it's called math or maths, I hated it and that's that. Whatever name you give it, it's still the same animal. Well, the good news is that this article is not about ... that. We'll go through this equation quickly. I mean, real quick. Yeah, I know. We all have a short attention span. Article Origins This is how this title came about. I had thought that I could have plenty of time to review my article prior to posting today, clear all my notifications, and still have plenty of time to write another. Boy, was I in for a rude awakening! Time and tide wait for no man. I don't mean the idiom. I really do mean that time and tide go about fulfilling their intended purpose without waiting for anyone. If I don't make an effort to expedite what I've set out to do today, I'll be left behind. Things to be done will just keep on piling up. There is no slacking off. I can't stop the time and I can't stop the tide. Incidentally, these readcash notifications feel like the tide. If I don't get on top of them, I'll drown. Thank God, there's a button to blow a big hole to drain off some quickly. LOL. **I have come to realize that it is impossible for me to cope if I don't use this reset button on a daily basis**. It's just an unrealistic expectation, otherwise. I can't do it. What has caused this tide of notifications? Growth of course. It is part and parcel of growth. You can't have one (the growth) without the other (notifications). This leads me to the "Adding" in the title. Adding (Growth) **All who has spent any amount of time here at Read.Cash will know that growth means knowing more writers and engaging constantly with the writing community here**. You can't interact with yourself and expect to grow as a writer. You write alone but you interact to grow, as a person and as a writer. (You can read about my article on engaging and getting your articles read here.) https://read.cash/@Just1dood/bank-of-articles-why-i-use-it-you-should-too-5c3a9e54 This was my case. The longer I am engaged here, the more writers I get to know, the more inspired I get. The more inspired I get, the more writers I follow and the more I write. The more I write, the more writers will engage with me and the more I know them. The more I know them, the more I read. Granted, I'm still not at the level where some will receive hundreds of notifications in a day alone! This kinda reminded me of one of my previous job where emails can grow to that volume in a single day. Those were the days where I was so close to throwing that laptop on the floor and stomping on it. Fortunately, insanity prevailed and I continued working. LOL. Okay, we move on to subtraction. Subtracting (Pruning) In short, when the addition of articles to read and notifications to clear adds up to a **level that it is no longer humanly possible to dispense off** in the usual way, i.e. read every single one, **then drastic measures** have to be put into place. What do you do when your desk is cluttered? You get organized and whatever is no longer needed immediately is filed away and whatever that are no longer needed will be discarded. Otherwise, you'll need to get a bigger desk or another one to put next to the cluttered one to add space. Obviously, the latter is not an advisable solution. That will only add to your headache. Believe me, you don't want to go there. Nice though it would be, I can't increase UplandDood's capacity or split UplandDood into two. So, expanding or adding another desk solution doesn't work here. See? Told you that wasn't a good solution. What I have ended up doing is use **the survival of the fittest rule**. Not my survival...but your survival. LOL. Those who engage get the first dip. I'll spend more effort on those with whom I'm constantly engaged with. **Relationships have their privileges**. Others will be slightly lower in the totem pole. When shove comes to push; those lower on the totem pole will get the "**mark these as read**" button. Sorry. To maintain my sanity, I need to do this. BUT, yes. There is a but. But if the title catches my attention, I may be drawn to it albeit it may take up unallocated time. See? **We do judge a book by its cover**. Don't let that give you a false sense of security. A good title only gets me through the door. **If the content doesn't carry its own weight, then it may end up being a "mark these as read" casualty**. There is one other caveat. I am more generous with my time for newcomers. They need time to get a proper feel and footing. I do understand that. We all go through this rite of passage. Don't despair if you're new. Equalizing (New Growth) There will come a point where enough subtracting will bring with it an equilibrium. It is at this point that I can actively seek out or shortlist existing writers to pay more attention to. Time and Tide (It's Cyclical) **The interesting thing about the above equation is that it's not permanent**. I know mathematicians will flip if they hear this - my equation is ever-changing. On certain days, I may not have to do any subtraction. I may be able to read all articles highlighted by my notification bell. On another day, I may just have to nuke all. Hard to say. What it means is that if for one day, you don't see me reading, upvoting, or commenting on your articles; it does not mean you've been put on the bottom of the totem pole. It could be that I was just too busy for that stretch of time to do any reading. I'll likely be back reading your articles again once I wasn't drowning. But look, readcash isn't perfect. It could also mean I didn't receive notifications for your posted article. Nobody (Everybody) In any case, I'm nobody to have such an impact that if you don't see me, it's the end of the world. I think this holds true for any writer here. **The community is large enough that on any given day, we 'cover' for each other in reading and commenting, and upvoting**. I hope this has been helpful and I wish all my writing friends a balanced and enjoyable experience here! Keep on writing. Keep on reading. Keep on commenting. Keep on upvoting and most important of all, keep on pouring those BCH! **Sources:** Header: unsplash.com - **Antoine Dautry** https://unsplash.com/@antoine1003 Image 1 by **Andrew Martin** from **Pixabay** https://pixabay.com/users/aitoff-388338/?utm_source=link-attribution&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=image&utm_content=1601674 https://pixabay.com/?utm_source=link-attribution&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=image&utm_content=1601674 Image 2: Unsplash.com - **Crissy Jarvis** https://unsplash.com/@crissyjarvis **All Rights Reserved ©2021 UplandDood** Thank you again for dropping by. Bank of Articles: Why I use it. You should too. **17 August 2021, Somewhere in the Metaverse - UplandDood (@Just1Dood)** It's the 9 August and almost 4 PM on a Monday afternoon. I was finally able to get caught up in reading articles from my favorite writers and writers I have a connection with. It goes without saying that, reading doesn't complete the interaction expected at read.cash. Commenting is the final nod of approval and the expected connection with the writer. Granted, that may not always be possible due to time constraints but most of us will at least do an upvote if in a hurry. If given the same amount of time constraints; **I find that reading articles take more out of me than writing one**. When I read, I tend to forget to look away from the screen to relax my eyes. But when I write, I do that. Especially, when I'm thinking about what to write or how to frame my next thoughts. Refocusing my eyes away from my computer screen at scenery or view far away helps relax my eyes. Previews This is why I would normally preview my written article from my **article bank** before posting them. Immediately next on the agenda after that would be to write my article. If I do it this way, I'd ensure that my eyes would not be tired by the time I get to writing. Writing a free flow article (without any time spent on research) can take up to 3 hours for me. Of course, the time demanded depends on how freely my thoughts flowed. Sometimes it's faster; other times, not. Now, imagine this. If I'd attempted to write and post on the same day, it may take up to 4 hours or more before it is ready for publishing. Completing an article does not mean that it is ready for posting. I'll need to re-read, check for typos and grammatical errors as much as I am able to. Even after that, it is still possible to miss out on errors. Generally, I'll take a minimum of another 30 minutes to run through an article before posting. However, this can take up to 1.5 hours, with edits, additions, and rewrites. **Having an article bank allows me to start with a fresh mind the next day to do the post-publishing review and edits**. The added advantage with a fresh mind is that I oftentimes see new angles to my articles with better points or stupider nonsense. Interludes **Between the writing and posting time, many things can happen**. There may be a more suitable article in my article bank to use rather than what was queued to be published. A recent example of mine was "An Odd Ode: To my Sponsors - Current & To-be". This wasn't slotted to be published on 9 August 2021. It was only written the day before but due to the sudden increase in sponsorships two days prior, I'd decided to make this the next article for posting. In my mind, it was timely. https://read.cash/@Just1dood/an-odd-ode-to-my-sponsors-current-to-be-d8dbbe35 Note: Though the above article was completed a day earlier, prior to posting on 9 August 2021, I'd taken another 1.5 hours to review with edits and some changes before posting. I am glad I had that time to do this and this had produced a better article. That, my friend, is a sign of respect for my readers. Vault I'd just had a look at my article bank. Not counting this one that I'm currently writing, I have a total of 7 completed articles in my bank ready to be published. These will take me another 30 minutes to 1.5 hours to go through on posting day. On top of that, I have a few more with just a title. These may or may not see the light of day. Not all of these titles I'll have the inspiration to write. **Having an arsenal of articles in my bank leaves me some room to maneuver about**. I don't feel as much pressure on days where my schedules are too tight to write. It is also a reason why I don't post any articles on Sundays. I don't feel the need to write on that day. I have a choice and when I feel that my body needs the rest, I don't write. Don't get burned out for doing something you enjoy doing. What's the point, right? Deposited Alright, it's a little past 4.30 PM. The first draft of this article is done. It has taken less time than usual because all the needed ingredients are in my brain. I just need to put them together and rearrange them as necessary. I will likely spend another hour on it before posting since I feel that there needs to be further polishing. But for now, it's been deposited into my article bank. I'm now 9 articles rich. LOL. One more thing before I end. Just because we can write does not mean that we will automatically get readers to read. You can read my thoughts on how to get eyeballs on your article from yesterday's post - For New Writers: How to make sure your articles get read. Thank you for reading and I hope that this can be helpful in your writing journey too. **Sources:** Header: unsplash.com - **vnwayne fan** https://unsplash.com/@vnwayne Image 1: unsplash.com - **Sigmund** https://unsplash.com/@sigmund Image 2: unsplash.com - **Jan Antonin Kolar** https://unsplash.com/@jankolar **All Rights Reserved ©2021 UplandDood** Thank you again for dropping by. For New Writers: How to make sure your articles get read **16 August 2021, Somewhere in the Metaverse - UplandDood (@Just1Dood)** This was written a while back but kept getting pushed out from being published for one reason or another. I'd written this on **5 August 2021**. It's been almost two weeks since then and I'm currently doing some addition and editing before publishing it today. The Captain says, "Engage!" The original title was the heading of this paragraph. I'd just changed it to give it a better "one-sentence description of this article". Some of you may know this, this word, "Engage" is borrowed from one of my favorite Sci-Fi series - **Star Trek: The Next Generation**. It's **Captain Jean Luc Picard**'s trademark command from his Captain's seat whenever they start on a new adventure. If you were a fan of the show, you'll know that once the "Engage" order has been given, an exciting adventure is in store. This article is not about space adventures but we will explore the benefits of following this command to "Engage!" Limited Resources As you may also know, each of us has a daily bank with a **finite time resource** we need to manage. https://read.cash/@Just1dood/are-you-a-good-steward-of-your-bank-46f421c6 Since time is a finite resource that we work with daily, it would be irresponsible of us to mismanage it. Those who are set on achieving their goals would have a strategy to maximize the return for each second spent. Well, that may be a little exaggerated but may be based on hours or as a whole, how the day was spent. Unlimited Stock In my Take Stock, I mentioned that there is a **Par Stock** that I can clear on a daily basis. These are committed quantities of article/s I post, write and read per day. Sooner or later, we will come to a point that we feel our stock management has grown beyond control. We need to trim back to a manageable pace. https://read.cash/@Just1dood/take-stock-not-what-you-have-in-mind-48dde3b5 We are no longer able to cope with committing to a sustainable Par Stock. We will fall behind. We may have committed to still write and post one article per day but our quantity of articles to read may have gotten out of hand because we are now **engaging** with more writers. To you, it will seem that everyone is jostling for your attention though that may not be the case. You'll feel that way, nonetheless. Preferred Stock Not what you think. This article has nothing to do with investment. I'm still referring to your daily commitment. It will come a time when this gets out of hand that you have to prioritize. If all you can handle is a maximum of **5 articles to read per day**, and I mean not scan through without doing justice to that article, then you have to make a decision. **Articles 6 and above will have to be pushed out** to another time or may end up being the latest victim to the '**reset button**' we all are so familiar with. LOL. **This shortlisted maximum of 5 articles will be your preferred stock**. Do you want to know where these come from? Yes? Good. We move on to the next point then and **I'm switching gear to address new writers from here on**. Network = Net worth Recall what I've also mentioned in my Network = Networth article, the relationship we build with another person in the business setting is critical to one's success. https://read.cash/@Just1dood/network-net-worth-95660706 **The better your engagement is with a particular writer, the stronger your VIP membership is with this particular writer**. It's all about relationship building. I'm sure if you recall your childhood days, you'd **prefer** (there's that word again) to play with your closest buddies, correct? When you grow older, you have close-knit BFFs that you may (the operative word here is 'may') go skinny dipping with. You just don't do that with those you don't know so well, right? Well, wouldn't you know it? It applies here. Whose articles do you think get read and whose get put on the sideline? Those who have a close relationship with the writer get read. Simple as that. If you are new here, do you see why it is important to invest some time to build good relationships with other writers? Yes, that's why the Captain says, "Engage!" So, please **make it a point to develop relationships with writers here, especially with those who've been around for a while and are very active**. Give them a reason to include you in their daily read commitment. Let them figure out how to make that possible without resorting to using the reset button. The above is a simplistic way of looking at getting your article read. It has not touched on other important factors such as the following: an attention-grabbing title that relates to the article and of course, good content that the readers can tell you've put your heart into it; just to name a couple. I hope this article has been helpful in providing you some pointers to be successful on this platform. Everyone can be successful here. The question is are you willing to invest your time and efforts to see to your success. Good luck and let's "Engage!" Stay safe and see you in the next article. **Sources:** Header: unsplash.com - **Roy Javier** https://unsplash.com/@rymrtn Image 1: unsplash.com - **Nicholas Green** https://unsplash.com/@nickxshotz Image 2: unsplash.com - **Victoriano Izquierdo** https://unsplash.com/@victoriano **All Rights Reserved ©2021 UplandDood** Thank you again for dropping by. It is always a humbling experience to receive sponsorships, especially from established writers. Today, when I started clearing my notifications, I noticed a payment for a new sponsorship. My latest addition to my sponsorship collection is no other than @coquicoin! Thank you, my friend! I'm truly humbled and honored. You've made my weekend. And I pray that you will have a great one too. God Bless You!
