Today is Thursday, 12 August 2021. (Started writing on this date and continued the next day).
I have opted to take a short break to run some errands and pretty much chill out today. Part of the plan was to bathe my two puppies. If you have been following my noise.cash updates, they are named Black Blitz, and Concrete Crusher. Those are their super-heroes alter egos. You won't get to know their real name. That's why it's called an alter ego.
Skip a few hours and now, it's Friday afternoon, 13 August 2021.
Both my two puppies had taken their bath. They are both happy puppies with fluffy fur. I have gotten my much-needed rest and have been having some fun both here and at noise.cash. In fact, I'd started a new channel dedicated to the 1980s. It's called Back to the 80s. https://noise.cash/c/back-to-the-80s-zml2n02l
This new channel has flooded me with fond memories of an era gone by. Many memories were frozen in time and the postings on this channel have given me to reminisce and re-live some of this era's defining moments.
Computer: Imagination & Pixel Punks
In my humble opinion, the 80s is indeed a defining era in so many aspects. It was the decade of the birth of the Personal Computer. Remember those IBM PCs? Or for those who can't afford an IBM the IBM clones? It started with the 8088 chips and not too long after that the 80286 chips were the dream of computer geeks. Again, it was soon replaced by the 80386 chips! The decade closed out with the 80486 chips. That was way before Pentium came into the scene in the next decade!
Proficiency in the archaic Disc Operating System or DOS was the order of the day. Game files could be easily tweaked to cheat. LOL. Popular games were all text-based and mostly adventure in nature. Your creativity and the screen of your mind get you immersed in such games for hours. It was only shortly after that pixelated punks appeared on screen with beeping sound effects.
Those who have Macintosh have it better. At least you don't have to work your mind so hard!
Music: Electric and loads of fun
It was an era that one can only dream of. The music was fun and once it starts, you'll footloose and run wild!

There were so many great songs that came out in the 1980s. Too many to list but I'll post them in the Back to the 80s channel.
Before ending this segment on music, I'd be remiss if I did not mention the greatest musician who ever lived, **Michael Jackson**, the King of Pop. It was during this era that he introduced the **Moonwalk** that still mesmerizes audiences whenever it's performed.
Media: Small & Big Screen
On the small screen, I probably had the best laughs in the 80s. The comedies were funny. Is it because people have become more cynical in this current time? Comedies were not as funny and oftentimes felt forced.
Not so back then. I'll list down some of my favorite sitcoms here. They still are some of my favorite.

There are too numerous to name. It was a simple era. You can tell that the movie's special effects were fake. Yet that was enough to entertain us. There is this clear line between what is real and what is for entertainment.

Before I close out this article, I'd like to point out some worthy mentions that are pre-1980s. One is a British sitcom called Fawlty Towers and the sci-fi that started it all - Star Wars, A New Hope!

Read.cash Writers: Do you Stock Take?

Start with your Warehouse
**Imagine for a second that your daily routine can be compartmentalized and stored in a warehouse**. If you can imagine that, then it is easier to tackle what I'm about to share.
If it is not, it will still be worth your time reading this to understand how to get them compartmentalized and organized.
[*Disclaimer: This is not Stocking Advice. Do your own research. I'm no expert. I'm writing this partly to get myself organized and manageable.*]
How many of you are fans of the TV series Fringe and the X-Files or the movie Raiders of the Lost Ark? Remember those warehouses they showed in these series and the movie? Recall the last scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark, where the boxed-up Lost Ark was put into a humongous warehouse? Without proper cataloging and systematic filing, it would be impossible to locate this Lost Ark.
If that's your intention for your daily routine, then you're fine. Skip this article. But if you're trying to figure out how to make them more manageable, then do follow along and see if my thought process makes any sense.
Take Stock
It's better if I start with a definition of "**Take Stock**". The online Merriam-Webster dictionary defines it as such:
*to carefully think about something in order to make a decision about what to do next*
**If your daily routine was never organized, then the first thing to do is to do a stock take**. List down all the things that needed to be done.
**Compartmentalize them**. For example, list all work-related tasks in one compartment; all nonwork-related in another. Break them down further if you wish. Think of it like how IKEA stack their products in their warehouse. It's all done systematically so that you can locate the item you want with ease.

Once we have a good overall picture after having taken stock, we need to look at our initial commitment on what needs to be done daily. We now have a look at our Par Stock.
Par Stock (aka Safety Stock)
Again, let's start with a definition. According to **Wikipedia**, it means that the
safety stock is an additional quantity of an item held in the inventory to reduce the risk that the item will be out of stock.
Let's take my writing example above. If let's say that I have committed to do the following:
Post one article
Write one article
Read 5 articles
Reply to all comments
Comment to articles read
post in noise.cash (no set number of posts)
I'll then take the following as the Par Stock/Safety Stock
One article to post
One article to write
Five articles to read
What I've done above is that **I have quantified and set what I need to at least get done daily**. Anything I do above that would be a bonus. However, anything below that would put me at a deficit.
Once I have done my **Stock Take** and know my **Par Stock**, I would need to devise a **strategy** in order not to fall below par.

Stock Maintenance Strategy
We now know that it is important to stop and evaluate a situation to understand it first, i.e. to take stock and have a par stock. Then formulate a plan to be efficient.
This was what I'd posted in one of my posts at noise.cash using a football analogy. The gist of it is this - post my article first, then proceed to write an article for my **article bank** (*I'll talk about my* ***article bank*** *in a future article and link it here once published*). Once those have been completed, then I will focus on clearing as many notifications (*read articles, comment on them*) as possible before proceeding to have lots of fun in noise.cash. https://noise.cash/post/lg7nqv25
It doesn't always end up in that strict order. I do end up replying to comments left on today's posted article and I also intersperse my time with short breaks in noise.cash.
From my experience, if I'd started the day with clearing notifications first, my schedule for that day will be all out of whack. I can get carried away reading and commenting and pretty soon realize that I'm too exhausted to write anything. My brain would have turned to mush by then. That's a recipe for self-inflicted writer's block.
You can see now that it is important to **clear the quantified commitments first**. Otherwise, your whole schedule will be messed up.
Stocking successfully
Being a successful stockist means that you **need to evaluate this constantly**. Once you are running smoothly as clockwork, then you can consider upping your Par Stock or allocating the extra time on something else.
Looking back now on my posted game plan strategy, I believe it is working. I've already posted my article for today. Replied to some of the comments while working on this article.
Now, this article is complete and I still have quite a bit of time to focus on my reading and commenting on articles read.

BCH: Downs & Ups. Good or bad for a Read.Cash writer?

I am not good at writing anything serious. But this has been on my mind so I'll attempt it. I may end up rambling uncontrollably like a mad man driving a car without brakes. Let's hope this will not end up being a disaster.
Disclaimer: This is not financial advice. Do your own research. This is purely my opinion.
Know your color
There are two colors that we are all too familiar with. One gives the calming, euphoric effect of nature's green. The other inflict the torment of high blood pressure inducing fiery red. Despite these two extreme contrast, each color can offer either delight or despair.
What am I talking about? I am referring to the color we see in the crypto trading market.
Green means a beautiful evergreen mountain. A period of euphoria.
Red means a drop into the pit of a volcano. A period of dysphoria.
During the run of either color, we can choose to look at the positive. It is a choice.
Euphoric Green
I'm sure all who are highly engaged in this noise.cash or read.cash platform would keep a close track of the ups and downs of their BCH value.
At the time of writing, the BCH value has breached $600. If it stays, then this will likely be a support for a further upward climb.
Let's **assume** for a moment that the top of this mountain in the foreseeable future is maintained at **$800**. We'll come back to this figure later.
As a writer here and an active member at noise.cash; is this good for me? For us?
Dysphoric Red
As recent as less than a month ago, the sight was quite different. The chart was bloody red everywhere. This would have been very bad for those who do not have holding power and must liquidate. Big loses.
At one point, the BCH price went as low as close to $383. This has been the recent bottom support.
Let's **assume** this time that if it ever goes down, the bottom of this pit is maintained at around **$400**. Again, we'll come back to this later.
Once again, I'll ask the same question - is this good for us as writers?
1 BCH
Let's examine the above questions - good or bad when it's up and when it's down.
If you have been here longer than a month, you'd have noticed that most writers have set monthly goals and these monthly goals lead up to a larger goal.
Many writers, in fact, have set a goal of **achieving 1 BCH**. Many of these same writers have set their respective deadlines for achieving it. Now, let's assume that the set **timeline to achieve 1 BCH is 90 days (3 months)**.
However, with a fluctuating market, this is a moving goal. You may end up having to re-evaluate your goal. I'll explain why. Please understand that the explanation is simplistic in nature to convey the main point.
Goal: In a red period
Assuming that when you started here, the market was in the red. The average price for **1 BCH was $400**. You have noticed that tips that are coming in on a daily basis are quite stable and it's at $5 per day in total.
In order to calculate the number of days to reach your goal, you'd need to take the total price of 1 BCH (i.e. $400) and divide that by your daily $5 tips.
Here's the calculation:
$400/$5 = 80 days
This is assuming that during the whole period concerned:
1 - the average **BCH price is $400** and,
2 - average **tip per day is $5**.
Therefore, in **80 days you'd have achieved your goal of 1 BCH**!
In a green period: Goal moved
Let's say, halfway (**45 days - half of your 90-day initial timeline**) through your journey, BCH pumped and maintained at an average price of **$800**. Overnight (*though in real life an overnight change like this is too drastic. I did say it'll be a simplistic explanation used to show the main point*), the achievement timeline has changed. Your per BCH price has doubled from the originally set target of $400. If you want to still hit your target of 1 BCH, now valued at **$800**, within the original 80 days, you'll need to double your daily tips received.
If doubling the tips is too much of an effort, then the other option would be to extend your timeline.
In that case, in order to hit **1 BCH** based on the same average **$5 per day tip**s, you'll need a longer time. To calculate the new timeline, you'll need to take the new BCH price of $800 and divide it by the average daily $5 tip.
**Here's the Calculation:**
*Days to achieve: $800/$5 = 160 days*
If starting afresh, i.e. from zero BCH, then you'll need a total of **160 days to reach 1 BCH** at the current value of $800.
However, we did mention above that you have already started collecting BCH for 45 days, so to find out how many more days to achieve your 1 BCH with this new price, you'll need to find out the total amount you've achieved to date (i.e. 45 days)
**Here's the Calculation:**
*Total achieved to date from past 45 days: $5 * 45 days = $225*
From the above, we can see that the first 45 days with $5 per day tips, you'd have made a total of $225.
In order to find out the balance remaining to reach 1 BCH at a new price of $800, we deduct the $225 amount to find the balance we need to achieve.
**Here's the Calculation:**
*Balance to achieve: $800 - $225 = $575*
*Days to achieve: $575/$5 = 115 days*
The balance as we can see from the above calculation is $575.
At a daily tip of $5 per day, to reach a total of $575 will take another 115 days.
**Here's the Calculation:**
*Days to achieve: $575/$5 = 115 days*
It is clear now the goal has been moved when the BCH price increased from $400 to $800. Due to this, mow instead of being able to achieve your goal in **80 days** when the price was $400, you'll need an **additional 115 days** when the price changed to $800 after 45 days into your goal.
Meaning, after the initial **45 days (achieving $225)**, you'll now need another **115 days (balance $575)** to reach your **1 BCH goal ($800)**, assuming all factors remained unchanged.
Good or bad?
That depends on where you're at and your plan.
If you already have a few BCH in your wallet, then a price increase is a great thing. You can plan to increase the value further by exploring available options.
If you are just starting, then your goal achievement has become harder. But the bright side of a green mountain is that whatever you get today will be worth more the next minute, the next hour, and the next day. Your $ value of acquired BCH increased faster although your actual BCH quantity goal may not.
Final Thoughts
Moving goalposts are part and parcel of life. We adjust to make the best of it.
Regardless if it's up or down, we are being rewarded for building our personal brand, network, and for many, a chance to improve certain skills. The only cost to us? Our mind "sweat" and time spent.
Though my goal post has been moved, personally, I still find this is an acceptable trade-off until something better and more lucrative comes along to replace it. At the moment, there is nothing that comes close and I'd be as bold as to say that, nothing may ever come close.
I'd double-checked my logic and calculations. If you spot errors, do let me know.

Ka-Poem: Super-hero vs Super-Villain (3rd in a series)

This is the 3rd such article on poems and/or rhymes that I'm posting. This will be the last in this series for a while.

Those were mostly short poems. After a few of those, I was very much challenged to find out if I was capable of doing more.
It was around the same time that there were some this vs that in the plagiarism hemisphere and that was what inspired the below poems.
I had done the super-hero poem first but due to flow, I will present the prequel (super-villain) first. Meaning the poem that I did on a later date will be presented first.

There were some intense **Ka-Poems** going on. Would you like to know who won? I don't know. But I can tell you this, the **egoistic super-villain** that tried to wiggle his or her way out will end up partly in **Bangkok** and partly in **Cairo**. I leave it to you to decide who is better off.
I had lots of fun writing both. I've discovered that I won't be writing any serious poems anytime soon. If I do attempt another, I'll probably end up writing goofy ones like the above. That's just me. Once I start to think seriously, writer's block will come to visit. So, I've learned my lesson. Even if it's a serious story, it will be peppered with ridiculousness.
I salute those who can write poems that flow with beautiful descriptive words. Keep it going. I'll read yours and be inspired to write mine.

Yes, that would be my reaction if I were to read my own poems. It's so bad that it needs to be detonated. Detonate? Defused? Or thrown into the deep blue sea? Let's see.
Still, I think some are so bad, they're good. Don't take my word for it. I'm biased that way. Let me prove it to you through some of these self-made poems. I was really playing with fire there. Poems are dangerous to play with without proper training. It can do lots of damage if not handled delicately. I'm not a delicate person. I'm crude. Obnoxious. An introverted live wire. LOL. See how dangerous that can be?
Detonating Poems
Alright as promised, here are some Poems to prove my point. Please wear the necessary protection and do stand beyond the red danger line behind the plexiglass 500 meters away.
Though these poems are generally safe, as I'd tested them before to see how much noise they create (see the clever reference to noise.cash there? Yeah, baby. A pat in the back there for Austin. Caught the reference? It's an easter egg. LOL.)
I don't recall how it all started. It could have been that I'd read a few writer's poems and thought, why can't I do that? It could also be due to @Samantha-Smith telling me that I could do it.

The inspiration wasn't enough to make a convincing one. It was forced fitted. Lol.
There was silence after that. Was the poem maker still around? It's awfully quiet. In fact, there was another bigger, more potent poem was made but I'll leave that out for now. I'll talk about that in the next article.

Today is Sunday, 8 August 2021. As many of you have already known, I do not post articles on Sundays. I do, however, write if I'm inspired or have fallen behind in the number of buffer articles in my article bank.
(*Update prior to posting: I've decided to start the week with this article. Written yesterday. It is fitting to start the week with this. I'm pushing a few of my articles already in queue further back to accommodate this. That's a great thing about having a store of articles in my article bank. I can rearrange, re-work and post according to my "whims and fancies".*)
Also, as many of you know, I'd gone for my second dose of vaccination yesterday (Saturday, 7 August) and as a result of that, I was very tired. Too tired to write anything yesterday. I did manage to reply to some comments and respond to both sponsorship renewal and to new sponsorships.
This morning (Sunday, 8 August), despite my plan to start to read and clear some of my read.cash notifications, I ended up in noise.cash and was inspired to start writing a poem. That poem evolved into one that's a dedication to my sponsors and to-be sponsors.
It was a natural evolution as I'd gotten a record number of new sponsors on a single day yesterday. I'd like to think my article on ***You collect, I collect. Poem writing
I am not an expert at writing poems. Far from it. I don't know all the different types of poems and the rules associated with each type. I ventured into this area with much gusto and shamelessness. Obviously, this inexplicable boldness was prodded by some fellow writers who indulged in my nonsense. LOL.
This particular poem had taken me more than 3 hours to complete, even though it only has four stanzas. I believe that's what they are called. Told you I don't know much about poems. I Googled a bit and my understanding from that is that they are called stanzas. Correct me if I'm wrong.
It had started quite differently and I'd to remove a few stanzas that didn't fit into my narrative. Initially, the poem had stanzas with different syllables count. I didn't quite like that. It sounded untidy. So, I proceeded to make them all conform to 4 syllables on each line (verse?). Now, all the stanzas consist of lines that have four syllables. Again, I'm an ignoramus here. Please do enlighten me in the comment section if I've any of the rules and terminologies are incorrect. I do want to learn but am too lazy to Google. LOL.
After more than 3 hours, voila! The poem is done. It is finally ready to assault the senses of any willing readers brave enough to read it.
Though many poems are left open to interpretations, I'm not letting that be an option here. I want to ensure that you get the story right.

Have you ever thought about it this way? That our life is like a dance? In fact, it is. It is a never-ending one dance after the other. Some dance takes longer than others. We shuffle between them. Life is indeed a medley of dance.
Let's get through the preliminaries quickly so that I can talk about the dance proper (or you can skip directly to **The Shuffle** and start from there).
Babyhood Wiggles
We started life with a cry, announcing our arrival. That cry is music to the parents who brought us into this world. We are new arrivals. There isn't much we can do when brand new. No dance, only songs and maybe the occasional wiggles.
Then, we learn how to crawl. Now, that is a level up. It isn't long before we learn the shuffles before graduating to more advanced steps. It's no longer the uncertain shuffling. A more predictable pattern arises.
Young Adulthood
For much of the remaining childhood and the young adulthood, we do the accepted Hokey-Pokey. We are now entering into more predictable steps of going to school in order to hopefully graduate summa cum laude. We will now know if we are proficient enough in our dance knowledge to make it in this dog-eat-dog world.
As we enter adulthood, we have the basics down. We are ready to take on the stage.
Adulthood
By this time, we have already spent a quarter of our lives perfecting our dance before society deemed it fit for us to graduate as certified dancers. We should be knowledgeable enough to perform the fitting dance when a situation calls for it.
I'm sure you'd like to find out some of these and when we use them. Do allow me to briefly go through some of them. If you noticed any dance that I have missed out on, do mention them in your comments below. I'm quite sure there are many.
The Shuffle
This is used when we are assigned tasks we don't like doing. We tend to push them to tomorrow. As I've always said, "Why do today what you can do tomorrow".
I'm actually pretty good at it. Doesn't take much skill. In fact, even if I have two left feet, I can still do the shuffle. The shuffle will probably look more natural if done with two left feet! Or if you rather prefer, two right feet. Hahahaha...
The Hokey-Pokey
Best used when you need to pass the buck. Everyone is doing it so why not you too? Dance is normally accompanied by lyrics such as "I didn't do it. <Put your hated colleague's here> did" or "That's not my fault. <Put your hated colleague's here> put that there". See the pattern here? Don't be a hated colleague. This happens on a daily basis so it's a common dance.
The Breakdance
We normally use this when we want to be left alone. If the body-flipping and arm-swinging tricks don't work; then the helicopter trick will certainly do the job. People will leave you alone. Then, it's a quiet moonwalk float to make oneself disappear.
The violent version of this usually ends up with someone getting hurt. It's usually a dance gone bad. No one is supposed to get hurt.

The Waltz
When you waltz, you know that love is in the air.
It usually starts off innocently enough with waltzing and dining. Waltzing can be deceptive cause everyone is in their best dress and suit. Nonetheless, it is an essential step before one can proceed to the next dance.
The Tango
Yes, when you have waltzed enough times in many different ballrooms, it's time for that final ballroom waltz before graduating to Tango. Both of you have to be certified as Waltz dancers before you can advance to Tango. Yes, the strange part is that in some instances, you'll be certified or rather blessed by someone who's never done any Waltz himself. LOL. Go figure.
Alright, let's proceed to the part where everyone is waiting for, including those who are not supposed to be reading this R-Rated segment. Yeah, I know you cheated. Shame on you. Okay, on to - The Tango! Why Tango? Cause it takes two to Tango! Can't do it by yourself. Hahahaha.

The Cha-cha
Have you ever noticed that in a cha-cha...you move forward but then you move backward? Then you turn around? It can be confusing. But if you really analyze it, it makes sense.
Let me illustrate with a story:
There was a time in my career where I had taken a 50% salary cut. This was a decision I have made in order to work under someone whom I know I could learn from. It wasn't only a salary cut but in terms of seniority, it was a demotion too. I was already in a Managerial level position but in order to take this job, I had taken up a non-managerial level position. It was a calculated risk. I knew the knowledge and experience I get under this new boss would carry me forward in the future. In fact, it turned out so because it took me a much shorter time to be offered a Director level position in the same industry.
In short, I'd taken a step back but two steps forwards in a shorter time span than I would have if I hadn't taken that step backward.
Life is like that. Forward and backward. Not all backward are bad.
This is probably the only serious dance in this article.
The Twist
It's almost like the Cha-cha except that in Cha-chas, you do get to move a bit. But when you're stuck with The Twist, it seems like you're doing a thousand and one things but ends up going nowhere. You're stuck! Sometimes you try hard to shake the leg loose and start to move but still end up on the same spot. Yes, you are truly stuck. I don't what to tell you here. You may have to wait for the music to stop before moving on...might be too late then. Why? Because...
The Music Plays On
The music never stops. Once it stops, someone will be left without a chair. That would be game over then.
Therefore, as long as the music plays on, the world continues to revolve and the stage remains for us to continue our dance.
Curtain Call
We are all dancers in this world. Let's take a bow and let's continue on with our own dances. Old dance, new dance, it doesn't matter. We can always choose to dance and make a difference in each other's lives.

Reviving a Passion

One time or another, each of us would have gone through a period where we were **passionate about something**. Most of us do but maybe not all. I haven't asked everyone on earth so I really couldn't give you an exact answer. But I have spoken with enough people and observed enough to know that we were and/or are passionate about something at one point in our lives.
When I reflect back on my own life, I have gone through periods when I was passionate about something. Let me get this out of the way quickly - study is not one of them! LOL. Hmmm...and working. Hahaha...
Passion #1: Drawing

I discovered young that I have a natural talent for drawing. I started liking to draw around the time when I was 10 to 12 years old. I can't recall but it must have started with coloring pre-printed outlines of cartoons.
Unfortunately, none of these earlier colorings or drawings survived the many house moving we've had since that time. Lost masterpieces. They probably tasted really good to the termites somewhere. If the termites didn't get to them, they are probably worth a lot now. LOL.
In later years, I did revive my love for drawing. Some of these had survived till today I'll post a few images below to show off a little. Don't mind me having a bit of self-indulgence here. :)
I remember locking myself in my room for hours drawing. It was peaceful and I enjoyed the quiet time fully focused on my drawing. I didn't like to be interrupted once I start drawing. **Most of the sketches that I did at this time were either comic books or movie-related**. I don't remember exactly but each piece might have easily taken hours. Maybe this was a reason why I had taken better care in preserving these drawings.
Passion #2: Scale Modeling
When I was older, I was introduced to the hobby of scale-modeling by my cousin. This was a very addictive hobby. It's another hobby that demands time. It can take up hours and days of my time to complete a project.
Why does it appeal to me? Well, I enjoy the focus required to handle the small pieces. How to cut them, sand them, paint them and weather them. It taught me to research and to look at the details of the real thing and replicate that in the model.
Scale modeling is a hobby that covers many different segments. I had not limited my passion to any particular one. I had tried cars, planes, tanks, and a few other miscellaneous types. But I do have a **preference towards Star Wars and Gundams models**. Again, due to the fragile nature of these things, many did not survive the numerous house moving. Some, though damage, I'd kept because I'd like it so much. I'll post an image of one below.
Passion #3: Gaming
This was around the time after I'd completed my tertiary education and awaiting to be thrust out into the working world. I'd spend hours in my room playing computer games. I was at it as if that was my full-time job with lots of overtime added. Those were the days.
Some of you may relate. Here are some of the titles that had sucked me into another world - Baldur's Gate, Sim City, Gran Tourismo to name a few.
Nowadays, it's a different kind of game that has gotten me hooked. Games such as Alien Worlds, Upland, and now, Noise.Cash and Read.Cash. The last two, though are not games, feel like one where it's a challenge for me to reach certain goals.
Reviving a Passion: Drawing
This idea has been brewing for a while. An urge to develop my drawing talent. True to a phlegmatic, I'm delaying it by doing more research than needed. I'm planning to develop this talent on a digital platform instead of on pen and paper.
The struggle is using the right digital platform. The research is ongoing but the iPad and/or Apple platform is a strong contender. Yeah, I know analysis paralysis is the order of the day. Do give me your two cents worth then. I welcome your recommendations.
Another reason for the delay is the cost involved to start with these platforms. They are not cheap and I'm a cheapskate. LOL.
Regardless, I will get on it and start sketching again...hopefully soon.

Want to hear something surprising? We all like to hoard. You will need to swim against the tide to fight this strong desire to hoard. That is why YouTube is full of tips and ideas on how to de-clutter and how to be a minimalist.
Without checking, I am quite certain some of these clips have millions of views. But would you like to know the truth? Watching and knowing all the tips and steps are one thing; acting on it is another thing altogether. I've watched them. My thought after watching these? It's like asking me to eat one meal a day after I've been having three all my life. It's a near-impossible task. It's near-impossible because there are always the outliers who can achieve it. I'm not one of them.
If you are in the same boat, fret not. I have learned to look at the bright side. You should too.
I revel in the satisfaction that I'm a **collector**, not a **hoarder**, even though I have a room and a few closets full of ... errr...hoarded stuff.
I am a Collector
I can't remember at what age that I have started collecting. It could be during my early school years. I believe it was around the age of 12 years old that I have started this hobby. It was around this time that I have begun drawing. I remembered quite clearly that I was good at it. I wish that I still have some of these earlier masterpieces. All these were drawn on drawing paper using colored pencils.
The only thing I remembered collecting before that age was probably postage stamps. Some of you from the future may not know what that is for. It's for what some call snail mail. No stamps, no mail. It's the cost of delivery. I still have albums of these.
I collect Comic Books
It was around my secondary school years that I got bitten by the comic books bug. I started devouring and collecting comic books. Each month, I couldn't wait to get the next issue to find out what happened to Peter Parker, or Matt Murdoch, Bruce Banner, Tony Stark, or Bruce Wayne! These were my buddies. I care about them. I want to know how have fared against insurmountable odds and onslaught from all manners of evil. With them, I get to escape into another world. And I make sure that after reading, I took good care of them. This was the beginning of a long relationship. One that carried into my university years.
I collect Toys
It was also around this time that another collecting bug had bitten me. I'd started collecting some Star Wars toys. I have no idea why I collect them. Given the chance, I'll still collect them now if I have lots of BCH to spare! I think it could be due to the tangible touch and feel of the movie magic in my own world. I could have an X-Wing fighter in my hand. Or an AT-AT on my desk! It's magical. I still have some of these toys. Unfortunately, again due to numerous shifting of house, I've lost some of them. Thinking of that made me sad.
Everything is Collectible
During my university years, I had started another collecting habit/hobby. There was no explanation for this one. It just happened, if you can believe that. (Here's a tip: there's no such thing as "it just happened" when a collector tells you that about his collection).
This time, it was "old" cameras. How this came about was that during weekends, I love to go check out other people's junks. There was one time, I saw a vintage Nikon camera on one of these flea markets. I'd asked the seller how much he wanted for it. He said someone had already "reserved" it. I was pretty pissed off. What? My money isn't good enough? Not sure if that had imprinted in my mind an angry response to that slight. I started a vintage camera hunt in flea markets. Though I have never come across another vintage Nikon camera, I did however managed to find a few vintage Polaroids and a German-made camera. All these have lenses that pop out like an accordion.

A period of non-collecting
After university, I had stopped collecting. Things have changed. I have other priorities. Work was more important.
This was an extended period that I did not collect anything. It was all about work and more work. Well, not exactly. I did start collecting some CDs and DVDs briefly. Remember those? Those were more of a distraction from a hard day's work than anything else. It's not unlike someone looking forward to a chillax evening watching Netflix. There was no Netflix then. The closest thing was DVD collections to binge on.
The Return to Collecting
Have I mentioned that it is hard to get rid of the collector's bug? Well, let me say it again - it is hard.
Not many years back, I had started collecting again. This time it was ... wait for it ... of all things - coffee-related stuff!
I love coffee. I love it so much, I must have at least a cup each day. I know it doesn't sound like someone who loves coffee a lot. But I need to be careful not to upset my stomach. Sometimes I push the limit to two cups and very rarely more than 3 cups per day.
I love coffee so much that at one point in time, I had thought about opening a ... not a cafe but ... again, wait for it ... a Coffee Museum! Hahahaha...
It started innocently enough with a coffee grinder. Then it speedily spiraled out of hand. I have many coffee grinders (mostly manual ones) and some coffee brewers in my collection. One dating back to the 1800s but not enough for a Coffee Museum. LOL. Epic fail. It's expensive to collect vintage and antique grinders, so it stopped. I'm now stuck with these grinders. Anyone wanna buy and start a collection? LOL.
Once a Collector, always a Collector
Though I have not collected anything in a long time, my fear is that one day, I'll get bitten by another bug. Who knows what it will be then.
You know what? As I was typing the above sentence, I was corrected by myself. I have been bitten again. It's the NFT bug. I have lots in my collection. Although a few are worth something, not much but something, most are junk that's worth diddly.
It's in the blood. Call it DNA, call it a bug, I can't escape it. Once a collector, always a collector.
Fortunately, these do not take up physical space.
What can I say? I'm a collector. How about you?

An Employee's Perspective
I know those who are employees may want to blurt out that a boss is a certified @$$40le! Okay, let's not get there. I have been on both and I know both have valid viewpoints in getting something accomplished.
I mean we all have our own definition of what a boss is. Some think it's an animal, some think it's a money plant. But we all agree that when we set our prejudices aside, a boss is more than that. A boss is an animal-plant...like that of a venus fly trap! LOL. Got you there.
Alright, I've beaten that stupid sanguine (linked to an article for more details on what a sanguine is) side of me silly for telling stupid jokes. Let's be serious. The Merriam-Webster online dictionary defines "boss" as "a person who exercises control or authority". https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/boss
Based on this definition, we can understand why so many mistakenly think that a boss is something other than a human. We don't like to be controlled or and we definitely don't like someone lording it over us. We want freedom! But guess, what? Freedom doesn't put bread on the table. Despite our desire to be free, we reluctantly let this boss lord it over us and control us for specified hours per day. Sometimes, to have more bread, we even allow the boss to keep us a few more hours extra per day.
A Boss' perspective
A boss is someone who shoulders all the financial risk in order to provide a stable income for employees. No business, no breads. It is a daily challenge managing cost, deadlines, risks, uncertainties, and where the next windfall will come from.
A boss is someone who keeps calm even though a storm has hit. Ensuring that the tight ship that he or she runs does not sink killing everyone on board. Crews being worked hard to keep the ship sailing and afloat doesn't earn the boss brownie points. Being liked and popular is far from the boss' mind. Survival is.
Nobody likes to work in rough seas. Particularly not for those with weak stomachs. But the boss isn't looking at the comfort of one individual, the least of which is his or her own comfort. When the ship sinks, no one is spared. A sunken ship does not affect only one person's 'comfort'. It has a devastating impact on all concerned.
A heavy responsibility to shoulder for an "animal-plant". Do you want to be a boss?
Do you want to be a boss?
It isn't that hard to be one. To be a successful one with the responsibility of feeding many mouths is something else.
You can be your own boss. It can be as simple as a freelance designer, writer, etc. You work for yourself. You are responsible for your own well-being. Your concern is limited to your own survival. There is no one else you need to be worried about in your business. Your hardship is then limited to finding enough for you to survive on.
However, if your business grows and you expand, you will soon find that that one mouth increases to two, then four, then 10, and if you're lucky, maybe 100 mouths.
It is a whole different ball game, one which I will not touch on because I have not gone through such an experience. But if you extrapolate from the experience of a one-man show boss to that of a 100 employee organization, you can make an intelligent guess that it is no easy task to run such a big ship.
Employee vs Boss
So, do you still want to be a boss? There is a trade-off. Being an employee has no mind cracking worries for own survival and the survival of those under his/her care. Just clock in, fulfill responsibilities and tasks at hand and, get paid at the end of the day or month.
We already know what the boss needs to go through to get through that same month. To borrow a phrase, we all think that "the grass is always greener" being the other person. It is not. View things from different perspectives. Put your feet in the other person's shoes. We'll very fast realize that it's not all smooth sailing. There is a cost involved. As an employee, your cost is your time and maybe your reluctance to carry out tasks assigned. As a boss, your cost is shouldering risks to cover all your commitments and hopefully still come out on top.
I can hear you and let me close by saying this: Yes, there are nasty bosses. But do you know that there are nasty employees too? Why? Cause we are humans. And because of that same reason, we also have exemplary bosses and employees.
Okay, enough about bosses.
I don't know about you, I just want to retire and write for fun. LOL.

Your Expiry (or Best Before) date

This article sounds a little morbid but here we go anyway.
Have you ever thought about your expiry date? Some of us touched on that subject when we took on the "Rather" challenge last month.
Regardless, that is an interesting thought, isn't it? I mean, all of us will have a final Expiry Date but how about the many non-final expiry dates? Have you thought about those? Non-final in the sense that it's not a curtain call yet.
Shall we look at some of these?
"Manufacturing" Date
Of course, we need to start with the manufacturing date. And we all know what that is. Oh yeah, I hear you. The definition of your manufacturing date depends on how technical and nitpicky you want to be. You may want to argue that this is the conception date but I don't really know if you can put an exact date on it. Possibly but I'm not aware and I'll not be researching to find out. You can do that. So, we'll take the easy way out. We will define your manufacturing date as the day you were born.
I wonder if from here on out, entropy takes over. Does our body start breaking down immediately? Maybe someone can help me out here. I want to use the word entropy because it makes me sound smart but that may not be the correct word to use.
Yeah, chaos is probably a better word. From here on chaos take over, especially for the parents. It will be chaotic for many years to come. Ask any parents.
Education Expiry Date
For the sake of time and length of the article, we've jumped quite a few other expiry dates. Expiry from being a baby. Expiry date from grade school, etc. And finally, the expiry date from formal education.
This is the date where we will likely no longer go back to any formal education. We are headed out to the dog-eat-dog working world.
Work Expiry Date
This period of time is probably the longest period we'll go through in our whole lifespan. It can also be the toughest period of time that we go through.
Oftentimes, our smaller period of validity falls under the mercy of those who pay for our utility. There are many factors that can affect this utility such as the relevant experience, character, health (mental, emotional, psychological, and physical), skills, emotional and intelligent quotient, etc.
Once these are no longer valuable, we kinda expire from work. We are no longer needed. Some would go as far as to say - discarded.
Period of Validity
One impact on our work validity period is being a conforming member of society.
Despite having all the utilities mentioned earlier, one can have the validity period cut short or gravely affected if one ends up being convicted in a court of law and incarcerated for a period of time. Finding work after incarceration will then be an uphill task. A possible vicious cycle entails.
Another validity period impact that not many thinks about has to do with your utility. It is called the **Peter Principle**. Do get a copy of this book by authors Dr. Laurence J. Peter and Raymond Hull.
The Peter Principle states that your competence will result in your promotion. This continues until you are promoted to a level where you will no longer be competent...i.e. incompetent. I highly recommend anyone who's working to read this eye-opening book.
Obviously, once you have reached a level of incompetence, you have reached your expiry date at that job. Can this expiration date be extended? Read the book.
After Expiry Date
I am prone to changing the rule of the game. Read some of my previous articles and you'll find one or two more where I have done the same.
It's my article, it's my thoughts, it's my experience. I will do what pleases me as long as I play it nice and be respectful.
So, the expiry date viewpoint is a little fatalistic, don't you think? In fact, we can think along a different line of labeling practice. Let's call it "Best Before Date".
This in effect means that we can stretch the so-called "Expiry Date". It applies to all of the above. I mean, if you want to act like a baby until you are 21 years old or beyond, that is your prerogative, right? Yeah, you are right...some do.
Best Before...
Life would be better if we follow the "Best Before dates". It gives us more room to play around with. We can continue with our formal education no matter what age group we are in.
We can continue to work regardless of our competency or incompetency. It is also a reason why we find so many incompetent people in so many organizations.
At a personal level, we should live like the expiry date is near but plan like that's a best before date.
This gives us some urgency to prepare. Okay, this article started out with a promising idea but it kinda fizzled out. I have expired my ideas. I better go back to rhyming.

New month, new goals
It's the beginning of August 2021. For some the BCH harvest has been bountiful; for others, it was a dry spell. No matter what the result was, all are looking forward to a better new month, I'm included.
Though I've been only active for slightly over a month, one thing I'd noticed at the beginning of last month (i.e. July 2021, in case you weren't paying attention), was that there will be a flood of report cards presentation. There will be many who will be sharing their KPIs, their July 2021 results and achievements and their August 2021 goals.
No reports...from me (they're incomplete)
Sorry to disappoint you. Truth be told, I'm a phlegmatic and for most of this month, the Melancholic side of me was real quiet.
That was just a nice way of saying that I wasn't that prepared for such reports as the groundwork for such reports was not laid. I do have a partial tracking of my achievement but it's not complete.
Having said that, I wasn't disappointed with the results. My efforts have produced results. Yes, I do have BCH tally for my noise.cash July tips. It wasn't for a complete month since I had started using a new wallet before starting to keep track on a monthly basis. It is, of course, another excuse not to compile them.
As for read.cash upvotes/tips, I do not have a tally, not without again compiling, which my phlegmatic side quickly said, "forget it". I have not set up a separate wallet for that. This will end up being a project for me to do for this month, obviously to the disagreement of my phlegmatic side.

Plagiarism. What's that? Can it be eaten? (A Farcical Look)

Start on the right footing (or rather heading)
This is purely my point of view. No research was done for this article so it all comes from my puny little brain.
I'll jump right into it. Yup, testing the depth of the river with both feet.
We'll start with the Title. The Title or my heading is my way of saying, in order to avoid being accused of this animal called plagiarism, ensure that the readers know it's my point of view. So, unless my brain is wired to the internet, I should be safe from this accusation. That's assuming that I really do not have my brain wired to the internet. Scout's honor. See those three fingers?
[***Point #1: Do not have your brain wired to the internet. You may get a computer virus and be accused of plagiarism.***]
Define this animal
If you don't know what kind of animal it is, how are you gonna dissect it?
When I consulted Professor Google, this is what I understand what plagiarism is:
Now, the part where it says taking credit for using someone's work is understandable. But ideas? If we accept this definition word for word and treat it as if it's two of the lost commandments given to Moses, then we have a serious problem. Haven't you heard there is nothing new under the sun? There really are no new ideas. All ideas can be traced back to someone else's idea (my point of view. No reference). Prove me wrong and I'll remove this point.
However, if my point holds true, then everyone is a plagiarist! No exception. Just a matter of degree. Then, the measuring stick would be on the degree of plagiarism. How to measure that? I'd wager to think that a monkey given a typewriter to type long enough would one day be plagiarizing.
[***Point #2: Do not let your monkey type for too long. It may plagiarize.***]
The Million Dollar Question
I have never used any online plagiarism checker prior to doing this article. I have no idea how accurate they are. If Grammarly (spell and grammar checker) is anything to go by, I'd say that they are a good start to get an idea but I wouldn't trust it blindly.
For the sake of this article, I had the top of this article until the end of the above paragraph checked in an online plagiarism checker. I was informed that up to that point, I had 14% plagiarized texts.
At which point will I be guilty of plagiarizing? I mean, any idiot with half a brain can tell you that at 100% tested over a few different plagiarism checkers would be a strong indication of someone plagiarizing. But that's the extreme case of a cut-and-copy article. At what point is it safe for someone to say, "Aha, I caught you. You, you, shameless plagiarizer you!" I don't know. I don't have the answer.

Hitting the Jackpot
"Never the twain shall meet" [incidentally, this being a common phrase it will be added to the plagiarism count]. I don't think it is possible for my article and plagiarism to be mutually exclusive. That is a wishful thought. Sooner or later the I'll **hit a percentage high enough to be an issue** or someone makes enough fuss for it to be an issue. Sometimes it's a world where whoever makes the loudest noise wins. Not fair but that's just life. I'll let this person shout until he/she is tired.

Do not Infract
This will be the last I will ever write about plagiarism. I learned in school a long, long time ago that it's not acceptable and I don't do it. If anyone chose to go down this slippery slope, then I wish him or her good luck. One day it will catch up with you and you'll have to back pay for all infractions. Not worth the headache to take such risks.
This is a difficult subject to write about without doing some research, especially if the article is not about personal experience. However, it is my personal opinion.
I'm sorry to disappoint some of you - I won't be using plagiarism checkers. Sounding as ridiculous as it is, it's the same reason I won't be scanning all my currency notes to ensure that they are not counterfeit. I don't deal with shady people so getting one is really a needle in the haystack. And I won't let anyone bully me into scanning my notes and wearing t-shirts that say, "I have scanned my notes. They are genuine!"

It's been 9 months! I was beginning to wonder if Rusty will ever visit me again. Yes, 9 months since I last welcomed Rusty. That was during my first endeavor into writing at ReadCash. The former was my second article on this platform and the first time that Rusty visited me and tipped me. That was also my first encounter with Bitcoin Cash! An introduction to my current journey in achieving a whole BCH.
Trusty Rusty
For many of us, Rusty is a mysterious transient. He may or may not grace us with his presence. For me, having Rusty visit is a mark of approval. It's a Certificate of Fitness. It's a ReadCash rite of passage. Though it is not the case, still many of us accept it as a nod of Rusty's approval.

Even as I was writing this, I'd noticed Rusty visited me another 2 times. I was mistaken. Rusty likes more than Pizza and Rhymes. He likes Success too. As of writing time, he'd upvoted my "Success is Overrated" article a total of $0.59 in BCH.
The Random Rewarder
So, it wasn't Pizza. It wasn't Rhymes. It wasn't Success. What makes Rusty tick? That is the 100 BCH question, isn't it?
This has piqued my curiosity. I don't think I can narrow it down to how random he is and what causes him to miss someone. I can only make a guess or some guesses.
I am very certain that there are certain things that he likes and certain things that he dislikes. I'm not sure what he likes but I'm quite certain what he dislikes. All is in Order
I can't pinpoint the exact steps or articles to catch Rusty's attention but I can tell you what I have been doing since I restarted at ReadCash a second time a month back.
I'll list them down. If you like, you can follow exactly, or not follow exactly. I can't guarantee success. Like investments, past performance does not guarantee future performance (profitability).
Here is the list of what I have done to this point and my guess why he started visiting me again:
**Write consistently**
I have posted one article per day since restarting on 22 June 2021. The only day I don't post is on Sunday.
All-in-all since that date, I'd posted a total of 30 articles, this current one not included. For those of you who are melancholy (read "Are you self-sabotaging?" to understand what that means), from 22 June to 26 July (inclusive), there are 30 days (not counting Sundays). That's 1 article per day. I hope I have not confused you. You can verify by counting them yourself. All articles are either from experience or just my ramblings and rants. They are quite random, to be honest. Maybe Rusty likes that too. You know, RandomRewarder; Random Articles. Both share the same first name.
I have a suspicion that the RandomRewarder has a greater tendency to visit those who are consistent in their writing. Doesn't have to be every day but be consistent. Not transient but consistent. Okay, you got my point.
**I subscribe to others**
I can't tell how many writers I have subscribed to. If you know where to find these details, do comment and let m know and I'll update this part of the article with an Edit and a tag thanking you for it.
Why subscribe? It's simple. I get notifications for these writer's activities. If they publish an article, I'll know it. If they do a short post, I'll know it. If they fart, I'll receive a notification.
**I comment**
Ideally, you need to have completed point 2 above first. Not essential though highly recommended. It's easier to comment when you kinda have established a relationship with the writer. And you can't establish diddly if you don't subscribe.
The easiest advice I have for commenting is to be yourself. Don't put on a Professor's mask to comment. Don't be a professor; be yourself.
**I upvote**
If you're new, this may be a little hard, especially if you don't have any BCH in your wallet. But if you have earned some respect, you'll have some BCH to upvote and tip others. Don't worry about accumulating. Pay it forward. It'll come back.
I haven't kept much in the wallet and do my best to upvote/tip whenever I can. Obviously, I'll seek out to read articles by writers I know and in actively engaged with. [Note to newbies: This is another reason why you should comment and build relationships with writers]
Since having Rusty visit, I'll be more active in seeking out others outside of my circle of writer friends to upvote/tip.
As of the time of writing, I'm ranked top 100 in total tipping for the last 30 days. (I'm at 88 at this time).
