What a wonderful sport

Whatever anyone says, football, or soccer as it is more commonly known, has to be the most popular sport on the planet. Many non-soccer fans or individuals who prefer other sports to football may disagree with me, but I'm sure you agree that football is the most amazing sport there is... Let's get started...

I was going through Tiktok the other day, looking for fascinating videos or tutorial videos about various topics, when I came across this lovely clip that completely melted my heart. It was a video of four Catholic nuns competing in a soccer game with two players on each team. It was a stunning sight to witness. Even though they were just kicking the ball around and moving around, it was just so beautiful, and you could see they knew how to play the game and were having a great time with each other.

And when they scored ? Awwnnn🥰😍 it was so nice. The nun who actually scored did loose one of her shoes to the back of the net together with the ball which was really funny because she didn’t care she was just celebrating her goal.

when the other team equalized they celebrated too in such grand style. Honestly I kept rewatching the video over and over again because it brought this huge smile to my face. I really love it but asides nuns kicking a round leather object football goes beyond just kicking and catching ..it..let me tell you why I think football is the most loving sport in the planet.

1.Connects people from different age or backgrounds

Have you ever being to local soccer center where people play 5-aside commonly known as street soccer. You can easily detect that different people from different age groups, often times different tribe or different color often play together and before you know it they become friends if their game play syncs with each other.

Or you go to playing center and you meet people who are just so interested in becoming your friend because you are good with the ball. Some even go as far as gifting you money or new boots just to show how much they enjoy watching you play. Isn’t that awesome ?.

2.Fan love

In a country like Nigeria the only time we are ever really together as one is when we are playing a game of soccer against another country. You see us working together, showing love, supporting each other and saying nice things to each other. We tend to fight for the oneness whether offline or online if another country tries to attack one of our own regardless of his tribe or name. Football does that for us it is just something that is incredible.

How about club football. I have made friends that I consider family just because we started supporting the same team. It is most common among guys when we go to a viewing center to watch either man United playing Chelsea or Barcelona and then you find another fan who is supporting the same club as you, there is a 99% chance that y’all become friends that day and probably just hit it off from just watching the match to become either business partner or best buds in the future.

3.Emotions

I remember clearly because it is very recent the day Ronaldo scored twice against Atalanta in the champions league to take man United to the round of 16. Both goals were around stoppage time but the second one was very emotional for me.

You see I had already lost hope as to how was man United going to come back from this defeat and it wasn’t looking like we were making any attempts at goal. Well until that shot from Ronaldo found the back of the net. I shouted in excitement that it even scared my dog. I was so happy that I took to my WhatsApp page and wrote “ nobody should ever in their life question my love for Ronaldo this man is a god”.

Now that I think of it maybe I was a little too excited 😆 but that is football for you. It is a game of emotion.

4.Life changing

Football has the power to completely transform a person's life in a matter of seconds. If you ask some of the newer players what inspired them to take up the sport, I'm sure they'll tell you about a memorable moment from their childhood that inspired them to pursue their dream of playing football. For some, it's their idol or hero, while for others, it's the way soccer has changed their lives and given them the confidence they need to face the world.

In conclusion

As a football fan and supporter, I've seen how football has brought rivals together and even resolved long-running battles between towns or nations. That, in my opinion, is the true meaning of a good sport. Humanity requires more sports like football, and while I recognize that there are many of them, I am grateful for football. It's the best game ever, and we adore it.
